We(guests) and the Bride/groom were disrespected and made to feel we were inconveniencing the General Manager BRAD during the wedding dinner we attended. I came to drop off the wedding cake coming from KY. The bride came to the business the night before to check on the banquet room, so that i would be able to drop off the cake, nothing was done. BRAD reassured her the room would be set up by 1:30 the next day. I was going to drop the cake off at 8:30am the morning of per Brad, he stated“I got things to do so 8:30 is the only time you can come before we open at 2pm.” I chose 2, because i felt attitude, and like i was inconveniencing him. I missed the wedding, because of this. The bride called me the night before her dinner worried that the room would not be set up, and asked if i could get there 30 min early to make sure it was done. I did. BRAD let me in, and nothing was done. It was 1:45. Dinner started at 3:30. So i set my cake up while he put table cloths down. My daughter put up all the table centerpieces, set up the head table centerpieces. He had 2 friends come by and all they were doing was talking about how their night went, and how Brad was at a party until 5am. How their friend had $ 140, and most likely went and bought drugs(his words, not mine). The groom called me, and asked to talk to Brad while we were setting up, and asked if the food to be reduced to 30 from 50. Brad, was shitty about with me, i had the groom on the phone. BRAD proceeded to chastise the Bride/groom by saying, we already ordered the food, theres no way we can do that(understandable, ive worked in catering), but he couldnt stop at that point… he kept on, explaining to me(someone he doesnt know) about how this was reserved last minute, and he was off today, and hes not even getting paid to do this event. Well… its now 3:00.we were discussing what time the event started. he said 4pm. I explained to him our invites, stated 3:30, and he should be prepared for guests to arrive at 3 – 3:15. He said. well im not doing anything until 4pm. Oh well. So… now its 3:15, a couple arrived, asked for drinks or water(its an open bar). BRAD, said your going to have to wait 20 minutes until i start. Rude. There were no water goblets at any tables at all. Now its 3:30, everyone is here, still no water at tables. Brads bartenteder shows up, he puts water on the head table. No other tables. I go to the bar and ask if he coulg bring us, water to our table, he says«NO, but you can come up here and get it». Rude. Im observing the table next to me ask Brad for water too, he sad” Oh. im not doing table duty, your gonna have to get your own”. Again. BRAD is, the General Manager. Now… Brad goes up to the bride, just as she settles into her seat, and says loud enough for the guests to hear.“can i get payment, or were not bringing out food” Im like WTF… I felt so embarrassed for her. The majority of us worked in a restraunt together, we did catering everyday. Buffet, plated.etc. Of course we will be a bit more critical, but this behavior he gave off was disgusting, tasteless, tact less, and beyond disrespectful. There is certain etiquette to handling wedding parties.etc. The food would have bern great, if he turned the A.C. off… the room was freezing, and the 8 vents blew right on the food. It got cold quick. The cherry on top of this cake, was when the groom, in this very religious group said grace before we ate, asked us for silence and hold hands in prayer, that BRAD insisted on banging the chaffing pans around in the backround, not stoping what he was doing long enough to respect grace. I think if this restraunt is going to thrive, like most of its reviews were stating, it would need to be under the watchful eye of someone who who genuinely cares about people, and understands common courtesy. That has grace and tact. BRAD will drag this place down. Not a good representation for the Feasting Fox. I really would love to experience this restraunt again and order off the menu… but i surely will not as long as that RUDE man and his bartender are still in your services. I really hate that a potentially great restraunt is going to have its name dragged in the mud, because the 30+ guests were not happy, and theyll tell 2 people, and they will tell 2 people. Not good. Owner…a change needs to happen.

Went here for Sunday brunch on a whim when there was an hour wait at our intended brunch spot. A German twist on your usual brunch. Very unique selections including saurkraut. The homemade desserts were very tasty. You have to try the apple strudel. Old school décor. Very rich and homey atmosphere. Reminded me of having brunch at my grandma’s house!

We stopped in for our first time at the Feasting Fox today for a delicious and quaint Sunday brunch! The décor of the historic restaurant was enough to pull us in, finally after a few years of having driven by over and over again. We are so happy to know that though it has once been threatened to be torn down, this historic and beautiful landmark remains to showcase its German heritage. From the architecture to the tiny trinkets placed on shelves and bookcases, this cozy pub is undeniably German. And we loved it! As far as brunch goes, I was at first a little surprised at how small the buffet was. This turned out not to be a problem at all, since it ended up offering traditional breakfast fare AND some German offerings that should one find them strange, could be supplemented with sausage, eggs, pancakes, the norm. You could tell the food is being handmade in the tiny kitchen and with love. It was delicious, and the tiny dining room made the size of the buffer appropriate and sufficient. There was one waiter working the whole dining room who did great juggling all of the tables and was very pleasant and attentive. We will definitely be back to try the dinner offerings and grab a drink at the inviting, beautiful bar.

I joined my husband here last week for his work’s Christmas dinner. What a cool looking place! The way it’s decorated is from another time! It had a heavy, classical, dark, old feel that I loved! The salad that I started with was a simple one — romaine lettuce, tomatoes and I can’t remember what else. There were also meat platters that were put out for all of us to share — they were covered with delicious cuts of sausages! These were probably my favorite part of the whole meal! For my entrée, I went with the steak, mashed potatoes and zucchini. Just a heads up that it seems that over cook just a tad — my husband ordered his rare, but it looked more like medium. I ordered medium and it looked more like well done. However, the seasoning was nice and it tasted wonderful with the yummy potatoes. We also got dessert — hubby got the German Chocolate and I got the Black Forest Cake. The former is different from what one usually finds — it had two layers of chocolate cake and two of a white cake. Both the German and the Forest were decent, but not really for me. I prefer a super thick lay of icing between each layer of cake.

I attended the first beer tasting diner at the feasting fox. The ambiance is that of a very old Victorian house. Very well put together inside with a lot of portraits and trinkets going on, but not tacky in the least. Id say a perfect place for a date you want to go well. style points, check. The evening was setup with 5 courses and 5 beer pairings. The beer samplers were about 5oz. Once everyone had both beer and entrée the mc of the night explained his pairings in detail. A very good touch of classy foodie talk with a small history lesson. The first course was a delicious sausage sampler, kilbosa, bratwurst, and a traditional German breakfast ham. Three small very different flavored pickles. Three mustards grainy one, a classic mustard and a subtle sweet honey mustard. Also a mild horseradish sauce. The first beer was a lager from the oldest brewer In the world. WEIHENSTEPHANER original. Very light, but flavorful. Cleansed the palette well. Almost had a champagne characteristic. Basically the best bud light you have ever had. Def had to get a full ill glass of this one. A great start! Course two. Apple sauerkraut onion fritter with a cheese mustard aioli. Second beer was WEIHENSTEPHANER dunkel. Very Ambery flavorful, malty, slightly sweet, ever so subtle Apple finish. Intensely flavorful for a wheat beer. A great fried appetizer. Course 3 was a tender chicken carbonad a thigh slow cooked with onions, falling apart tender. Braised reduction sauce. Paired with red potatoes, squash and zucchini. The beer was a super subtle tasting hoppy beer with a sweet malty almost fruity finish, almost reminds me of a scotch ale. It’s a paulaner Oktoberfest. Very heavy characteristics but not overpowering taste. A great entrée starter. Course four sauerbraten. If you don’t know now you know. Vinegar noted sauce On candied carrots and a brown butter Spaetzel, classic German mini dumpling .The beer has the sweetest start and heaviest finish. Paulaner Salvatore. Only true Salvatore in the world apparently. A double bock. Great full bodied entrée. Last but not least, in fact perhaps the best of the five, a apple strudel. Dessert with a beer. Perhaps this was the kind of behavior that drew me to this event. The apples were still very crisp and the crust was a super flaky almost baklava style enclosure. Englaze sauce. Homemade vanilla ice cream. Yes please. Hofbräuhaus original. Super clean finish and start. Can almost taste a light vanilla when paired. All in all an amazing event. If you haven’t had good German you better try this event before you make any final judgements. The host said he will be doing these events hopefully once s month. Wine or beer events. Check them out. $ 30 well spent !

Are you people without taste buds? This place was as German as a frozen dinner? Service was poor. The table before us got their check before we got our«German sausage plate» appetizer. I have better food at Shoneys.

I was hoping that there had been an unfortunate incident before fathers’ day brunch(my first visit). The kind of incident where the chef and prep staff all called in sick that morning, or quit. Something like that to excuse the poor quality and limited selection. The décor was great. The staff was pleasant. The food was pretty bad. I was hoping for authentic German. I got something akin to complimentary breakfast at an airport Hilton, but with fried chicken and various pickles. Based on other reviews, I will try again when it is not brunch.

I love German food. It’s certainly not the world’s prettiest food to look at, but the flavors and rather basic building blocks of a typical German meal are just… satisfying. I’ve long wanted to try out the Feasting Fox, and my desire to pay them a visit was only amplified after the fine folks at Tasted paid them a visit, and gushed over their food. I have to say, it’s not that hard to see what the fuss is about. The restaurant has an old-world German feel, with deep earthy tones and sad oil paintings. There’s just something about such an environment that feels right for a German restaurant. The service is friendly, if a bit on the slow side. The selection of beers is decent, and the menu, while tightly-focused, features some really great offerings, even if some of them are quite authentic. Take, for instance, the parmesan puffs. Not something you’d find in Munich, but tasty little crostinis adorned with dollops of creamy cheese nonetheless. The potato pancakes are a bit more traditional, and every bit as good as I hoped. The Wiener Schnitzel is very tasty, though it seems odd that it comes in an almost perfect rectangular shape. Either their chefs are super skilled at beating an irregular piece of pork into a geometric form, or the pork cutlet comes pre-fab. Either way, it tasted fine, though I’d recommend getting the sauce on the side, unless you’re really into capers. As for me, I’m more of a purist, preferring my schnitzel unsauced with some lemon. All in all, a nice dish, but maybe a little skimpy portion-wise. We also tried the sweet and sour pork, which is their unique take on a classic American Chinese dish. It’s essentially a mix of apples, cherries, and pork, served in a vinegar sauce, over spätzle. This should not work. It should be terrible. But, somehow, some way, it not only works, but it succeeds brilliantly. It’s a little sweet, extremely tangy, and very flavorful, capturing the contrasting flavors well, while oddly enough, still tasting fairly German. The ladyfriend and I could not stop eating it, even after we wanted to stop eating. It was, in a word, mesmerizing. All in all, the Feasting Fox is not 100% authentic, but with offbeat dishes like the sweet and sour pork, I can live with that. We will be back again and again. Highly recommended.

Albert catered for my wedding reception he’s absolutely amazing. I would recommend them to anyone I know. I do think they should have more than just him working. If not then they need to pay him triple cause he’s worth every penny. The food is great. I would definitely go back for any event. He helped make our special day truly amazing. Albert thank you for everything you have done for us from planning the food for the reception or just helping us how to get things set up. Again all I can say is everyone needs to go here. Thanks ALBERT your amazing!

I have lived in the St. Louis area for 40 years and have taught German in St. Louis for around 20 years and have never been to the Feasting Fox restaurant.(I’ve driven by 100 times and thought it was cute, but never went in.) Shame on me. Hurray that the Roemer Topf is closed on Sundays and that my German class chose to try the Feasting Fox. Brad and Albert, the chefs, made the buffet choices more German for the day for us and made us Huhnschnitzel mit Champingnon Soße und Käs’spätzle served at the table in addition to the items on the buffet. They had breakfast items on the buffet too and the kids loved it. Schnitzel und Waffeln were a hit. «This is the weirdest lunch buffet mixture that we’ve ever had and that makes it the best breakfast buffet EVER!» Gotta love teenage reviews! :0) The Propriators, the Luepkers, admit that they got into the restaurant business more or less unwillingly to save the beautiful building in the neighborhood where they grew up from being torn down and being replaced by a fried chicken joint. I would say that St. Louis owes this couple a debt for preserving a charming part of what little bit of its German cultural heritage that is managing to remain intact. You would never guess by the décor that the property had no first floor windows and had been vandalized when they obtained it 21 years ago, but they not only preserved German heritage, but also by obtaining fixtures from other iconic St. Louis establishments like the Famous Barr St. Louis Room, the original Cheshire Inn and the original Chase Park Plaza lounge, visiting here you get the feeling that you are visiting various places from younger days gone by all at once. What about the food? I’m a German food snob. Most places that I go to in the USA are fine. I usually leave thinking, not as good as I could make myself, but at least I don’t have to do the dishes. Other places are also lacking true Gemütligkeit, I always feel like I want to eat and run, but the warm wooden fixtures installed throughout the building and the lazy way the sunlight came through the windows, not to mention the comfortable seating, I would not mind hanging around for coffee and cake, or perhaps a nice Bier mit Brezeln. Not to mention that Brad and Albert are awesome chefs! Seriously guys, if you could coax in some more German groups for a delicious Schnitzel und Waffeln Sunday brunch say once a month, you will have to open up the facility next door to accommodate everyone. I’d be back. ;0) I’m getting the«you wrote the pants off that review, we salute you» prompt from Unilocal, which means that I’m probably being long winded here. Bottom line, go to the Feasting Fox. If you have a big group, give them a heads up a couple weeks before and you won’t be disappointed!

The entire building is absolutely gorgeous and the wait staff was very friendly. The food is great and they have an extensive wine list. Things are kind of slow as far as getting your food but it’s still a great experience. I’d suggest going at least once just to see how beautifully decorated it is if not for anything else!

This has quickly become one of our favorite places to eat. The food is out of this world, and so authentic. The ambience of the beautiful building is a pleasure to the eyes. This is good dining at it’s best. Nothing rushed or microwaved. Everything tastes like it was hand made the moment you ordered it. Try the Sunday brunch, a smörgåsbord of food to feast on.

This restaurant has that German heritage feeling all over it. The food reminds me of the same German dishes my grandma use to make. We had the meatloaf and the pork roast and let me tell you… They had just the right seasoning. Plus, you have to order the potatoe pancakes as an appetizer. Our server made us feel very welcome and was prompt with our food. Five star restaurant without the expensive price. Perfect for a date night.

First-time visit on a recent Friday night was very enjoyable. Our party of six was uniformly impressed. First, it’s a beautiful spot, very atmospheric but not cloying. It’s a real city gem and should be supported and preserved. Second, the service was impeccable, very attentive with useful guidance on the menu. Third, the German food was delicious. If you miss the Bavarian Inn, Black Forest, Gast Haus or Bevo Mill, give this place a try. It stacks up well against any of those. Finally, the beer selection, German and domestic crafts, is extensive, and again, the guidance for food pairing was solid. This is one of those places we’ve been meaning to get to for years. We’re very glad we finally did.

So much yum! Had today’s lunch special: oven roasted turkey breast, melted brie, mixed greens, cherry apple chutney on a toasted french baguette. So delicious and so filling. Definitely looking forward to new chef specials! Update: Subsequent visits with a different cook are less impressive

Sadly disappointed. I much preferred the Gast Haus to FF. But, I won a World Cup bet and earned the right to celebrate w/a German meal. The restaurant/pub itself is charming so points for that. The menu was lacking variety of German food. There was no gerkin salat or spaetzle. We shared the sausage platter, which was fine. Nothing amazing. Our entrees came with a house salad which was dressed w/chickpeas and black olives on iceberg lettuce. Pretty boring. We got both the Weiner and Huhn Schnitzel which were good. Came with decent mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies. It was just not very memorable. Sort of bland and average food. Maybe I wanted an amazing feast(b/c, I don’t know, its in the name of your restaurant), and left still craving something more.

Well, I’m German and this is my place. I had the Wiener Schnitzel, which was amazing! The German fare was delicious, and even though this place is in a sketchy part of town, they have kept up their facility. It’s quite presentable. All in all a winner for me, but you have to like German food to enjoy this German throwback.
