So dissappointing. I just don’t get it. I have never been to a restaraunt that was trying to go out of business, but this one sure looks like it. Do not listen to anyone who says this place is inexpensive. They are flat out lying. For what you get, this is one of the most expensive places in STL. The owner clearly is not trying to provide value. If they sold their red sauce at Schnucks you could easily make a meal that tastes as good(probably better) at home. High points: 1. Red sauce is some of the best I have had in STL. Few places on the hill have a better red sauce. Unfortunately they give you so little it goes unnoticed. 2. The Beef Spedini was pretty good, but dry. If it would have had just a little red sauce on the side it would have been alot better. 3. Ambiance Low points: 1. 8 $ for a salad with literally nothing but iceberg lettuce and dressing. Seriously, the product cost is like a quarter. I have never felt so ripped off. 2. We spent $ 50 for LUNCH for 2, got a salad, beef spedini, chick Parm and 2 sides of pasta. Not one item had any cheese. They did not even provide parmasean cheese on the side. The chicken was so small and thin, I am pretty sure it was a 2oz breast. 3. Pasta — The pasta is store bought spagetti. You would think for what they charge they would offer something that has some value. 4.Ambiance — The place is in a pretty historic building. Going inside is like taking a step back in time. Unfortunately the place smells like it looks. Overall I just can not believe this place. If the owner ever decided he wanted to sell the recipe for his sauces and the dressing someone could do quite well with that. The place was full of regulars. They must have different prices for regulars. No one would go back for what they charge. But at 50% of menu prices I would have had a much different opinion of the place.

I love this place! Everything is excellent, ALWAYS. Really good Italian food, I just seem to forget it’s there. Don’t get over that way too often and their hours aren’t typical but this is one of the best places in St. Louis. The veal is excellent and pasta dish’s the best and always fresh warm bread.

I’ve been sooooo busy lately, I’m really really behind on reviews; sometimes, that makes me worry that I won’t accurately remember a place — NOT so for Giuseppe’s. I took Betty out for Mother’s day dinner(sometimes, not including any kids is the best idea;). Giuseppe’s now has limited evening Dinners: «Open For Dinner The „Second“ Saturday of Each Month»(from the website: ). Not one element of the evening was lacking, almost way under priced for the service, meal, and ambiance. Number 1: Five Star Service — Present, Attentive, professional, consistent, and with some personality. Number 2: Menu options, they advertised the menu for mother’s day as a limited menu — what was available was wonderful, and our server let us know that they’d make anything from the regular menu as well. Number 3: ambiance, look — I’m Irish, not Italian; I actually _did_stick out like a sore thumb. If this were Sicily, this is where the locals with good taste would be. Number 4: price: look, it’s not pasta house but worth twice of what will be on your bill.(and good selection of wine). Really, this shouldn’t be a secret any longer… I could have been in any 5+ star restaurant and not had better service, meal nor ambiance. Cheers

St Louis’ best kept Italian secret! Better than any Italian I’ve had on The Hill. I’ll choose Giuseppe’s any day of the week! Only open Mon-Fri for lunch so don’t get there much. Would love to see their hours expand back to including dinner on weekends so I could frequent more often.
