Good cheap American breakfast prepared by friendly Chinese couple. I had a whole plate of hash browns with 2 poached eggs and a cup of Chinese tea for 5 bucks. Can’t beat that! I appreciate that the hash browns were fresh and the grille they were prepared on was clean. Good tasting potatoes and perfectly poached eggs. There’s nothing fancy here but it’s clean, cheap and good eats.

If you’re short on time DONOTCOMEHEREINTHEMORNING. We thought with ONLY4 customers ahead of us we would be served shortly — WRONG! This place is run by two people and even though it looks like they are working quickly, time tells a different story. 45 minutes after placing our order and we’re still waiting to eat. After an hour and half, we finally get our food. It was good but I couldn’t enjoy it because I was upset — Hangry!

One of the best Mom and Pop places… Pretty much everything on the menu is good… Basic yet delicious! Please keep in mind though that only a wife and husband work there, soo please be patient, for when they are busy it may/will be a while. Order ahead, if time is of the essence. I try to go at least once a week… Double bacon burger and fries for the win.

Been here a few times now and today was the last. Stopped in with my boss for a quick bite, the last time I came my girlfriend got the ham dinner it was better than the roast beef I ordered. So I decided to go with a ham dinner I asked for the gravy on the side cause they bury your plate with it, the mashed potatoes were out so he ran to fetch fresh ones so I took a seat. Finally my plate shows up murdered with gravy…(whatever I just wanna eat nbd) So I dig my ham out it seems to be good but as I’m watching the gravy slop off of the meat I can see the stain lines that come from old meat and I began to flip a few of my other pieces to find other white lines and grey dark areas as well… pretty shitty don’t know why it has 4 stars maybe the friendly staff that’s the only reason they received 2 from me.

This review is strictly for their dinner menu. I went with a group of myself and 3 others at around 5 pm for dinner. I ordered last because I wanted to check out what their buffet style food looked like as my friends ordered. The Salisbury steak(which was that day’s special) looked like it was surrounded by gelatin *yuck*, I passed on that. Another friend got the turkey dinner, the turkey carcass looked like it had been sitting there under the Buffett light for hours, *yuck*, I passed on that. Right when I was about to pass on ordering I saw the wife put a fresh batch of what looked like chowmein on the grill… I ordered that just based off the fact it was fresh. It came with a side, I chose a Chinese broccoli and pork. The chowmein was mediocre at best. Very bland. The broccoli was over cooked and soggy, the meat… I ate one bite and thought if I ate more I might get sick or food poisoning. I will not be going back. And as far as breakfast which I see other reviewers rave about, there are 2 breakfast places that are GRAND within walking distance from here. I don’t know how this place is still in business. I will not be back!

This place is great for anyone out there who loves traditional american breakfast/lunch. My family came in early Saturday and was greeted right away. Everything we ordered was yummy and filling. Mom and Pop were friendly and made sure everything was up to par… my daughter wanted mash potato and gravy for breakfast and they were able to accommodate her. :) i tasted the mash potato and gravy and it was tasty as well. We will be back.

Stopped by with 3 friends after we ran a half marathon in San Leandro. Loved the down-to-earth(lack of) ambience, and it’s not a chain, so two points in its favor. Prices are a throwback to the 1980s — tremendous value. There were about 6 other tables with 2 – 6 people at them. So not crowded, which is good too. We ordered eggs, hash browns, pancakes, toast — nothing elaborate, and nothing that takes longer than 5 minutes to cook. And yet. We waited. And waited. And waited. For(no lie) exactly an hour. For eggs, hash browns, pancakes and toast. Are you kidding me? An hour(no lie)? An hour. No lie. Cannot recommend it.

This place is the definition of a dive but the food is just incredible. They have daily specials such as Salisbury steak on Monday or their fried chicken on Wednesdays. People come on specific days just for the specials. Me? I come for the wor won ton! Great broth and loaded with shrimp and meat! But really, I would come just to visit with the owners. The older couple are just the sweetest people. They run around like maniacs when the lunch rush comes in but it’s just the cutest because they chat it up with the regulars and they really care about the people and the food. Just don’t forget to bring the cash from home because they don’t accept card!

Yes! A cheap, good breakfast place! I wish Stan’s were closer to my house! Stan’s is the definition of «hole in the wall». The décor inside could be described as «dingy» if you’re accurate and«quaint» if you’re trying to be nice. Who cares about the décor though, especially in the morning? The food & service are on point! I had 2 hot cakes and country potatoes, and my friend had a bacon and cheddar omelet. I LOVED my pancakes!!! I usually prefer waffles, and whenever I order pancakes I only order one because I have trouble finishing them. But Stan’s pancakes are probably some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had, because I finished both of my pancakes and probably could’ve eaten another one! They were fluffy and doughy, sweet and just… perfect. They were perfect! My friend is very picky about her eggs, but reported that she actually enjoyed the omelet. This is pretty rare for her no matter where she goes, so I was impressed. Meanwhile, I’m very picky about my potatoes. In fact, I came to Stan’s solely because I saw an enticing country potato picture here on Unilocal.I still haven’t found anywhere that tops my favorite breakfast potato, Katy’s Korner in San Ramon, but Stan’s potatoes were good. Could’ve been a little crispier for my taste, but tasted like real potatoes. That realness was very noticeable. The food here has quality. Everything was cooked to order. There are no vats of food already sitting around, your order is cooked when you order it. That means it might take a little while for the food to come out, but when it does, it’s great! Let me talk about the price for a second… the total was $ 10. Wtf, I can’t read what I wrote without being shocked. When you get breakfast anywhere else in the Bay Area, you can’t even buy food for one person with $ 10! The value was incredible, and the food was still very good! I’ve had a lot of terrible quality breakfasts that cost much more than Stan’s. The couple that runs this place are so nice. The lady was so sweet, and had a genuine smile for everybody. She had a really great rapport with all of the customers, and there were a ton of regulars in there. One of the customers even poured coffee for a total stranger! This isn’t the type of hospitality I’m used to in California… I’ll definitely be back. I’m interested in trying the Chinese food :) Oh, and it’s cash only!

Great small family owned restaurant. Everything was cooked fresh. The pork chops were tasty. Big portions. My family all gave 2 thumbs up. Minus one star cause I wish the place was a cleaner. Very out dated. Could use a renovation. But food and prices are great so we will be back. Plus it’s walking distance from our home! Score!

While I was waiting to view a house for rent, I had developed quite an appetite. I searched for restaurants close by and came across this mysterious place. At first glance, it seemed as grim as an old dinner in the middle of the Nevada desert, as I received looks as if I stepped out of a time machine. They must of had a huge rush, being that every table was filled with everyones left over plates, silverware and glassware; leaving an interesting, indescribable, overwhelming odor in the air. I wanted to turn around and walk out so bad but read other reviews I had to give this place at least one chance. I decided to order a veggie omelet with hash browns and sour dough toast. Something quick and simple being i had a scheduled open house appointment in half an hour. Minutes go by as I look around the dinning room, enduring the feeling of filth of everyone left over dirty dishes, trying my best to not touch anything. It has been 10 to 15 minutes and still haven’t received my omelette. I was started to feel a bit anxious, and began to stare at my iPhone to keep track of the time. Minutes later I had gone to the gentleman who took my order and asked if I could get it to go and pick it up later. He smiled and responded that he would have it ready to go by the time I return. 10 minutes later I return to pick up my order. It smelled so amazing and I couldn’t wait to dig into it once I got home. It had to have been one of the best things to happen to my tastebuds. Complete nirvana… Though I was starved, i still felt that this place needed a second visit. The food was worth the wait. And despite the first impression I still would consider going back for breakfast.

A sort of odd, no-frills place. They offer American breakfast + American/Chinese lunch and dinner. I came in wanting breakfast and was pleasantly surprised to find they had linguica(always major points in my book). My food came quickly and tasted great. The prices are extremely reasonable and the couple who owns/operates Stan’s is incredibly sweet! I will be back.

5⁄5 Id give it more than 5 if I could! This place really is a secret hole in the wall. At first I was a bit skeptical to come here, but this place is awesome! Great value, good food and extremely friendly people. Food: 3⁄3 I’ve had the bacon and eggs breakfast twice now and that is awesome. It comes with 2 eggs, 3 strips of bacon, hash browns and toast. I always get my eggs over easy and several times, it gets messed up. This place cooks them just right. The bacon is pretty good and the hash browns, oh man, don’t even get me started on how amazing these are… Crispy, large and warm on the inside. I have also had pork chops. The pork chops were cooked really well and were surprisingly really good! Service/atmosphere: 1⁄1 You walk in and are greeted by a Chinese couple that work/own the restaurant. Just those two! They welcome you with a smile and tell you to take a seat. The atmosphere in the restaurant kind of feels like an old cafeteria so it’s not the greatest, but I can get over that because of the friendliness of the couple. Always checking to see if everything is okay and smiling. It makes me feel like they really do care about the food they bring out. Care and attention. Awesome Value: 1⁄1 If I could give more to this category I would. So that bacon and eggs breakfast I mentioned above was ony $ 5! I kid you not! For my gf and i, the meal was $ 11 after tax! I usually tip 3 $ because I feel like the food is worth it. So would I come here again? HELLYEAH! As long as this place is around, this place will be my gf’s and my go to place for breakfast for sure.

Great value for money. The ambiance is no frills. However the food is fresh and very generous in portions. And it’s the cheapest I’ve ever eaten in quite a while. Honest…if I had one word to describe this place.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant since I was a little girl and I still love stopping by Stan’s whenever I’m in San Leandro. This place is owned and operated by a very sweet husband and wife team who never fail to greet all their customers as they come in. Despite being the only ones working, their service is still terrific and they always remember to fill your glass or ask you how your meal is. The best part about Stan’s has to be how generous their portions are at such a low price. For about five dollars you get a huuuugggeee serving of hash browns, eggs, toast, and more pieces of bacon than you would get at your typical diner. Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat here! They also make great, authentic Chinese food in addition to their American dishes(their fried chicken is a must try!). Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area too!

I like supporting local small businesses, especially those mom and pop places. That’s what drew me to Stans. Don’t expect fancy. Don’t expect high level of sanitation. If you’re in the mood for a cheap breakfast that’s filling, Stans will not disappoint. Just ask the regulars who made us look out of place. If I lose a golf bet and have to pay for breakfast, I’m coming here.
