Worst service ever. We came here cinco de mayo night to watch avengers. The restaurant itself was empty beside one other group of 4 at the bar. We sat for 20 minutes before I got up to get someone’s attention that we wanted food. finally after 10 more minutes she came over and took our order, sweet young girl. They had a special for the holiday I guess. We ordered 4 tacos for $ 4 and a $ 5 margarita. First, I asked for blended I got on the ice. Second, it was probably the worst margarita ever. It tasted like nothing but margarita mix so concentrated and bitter and not one lick or taste of alcohol. I didn’t finish it. And of course the tacos were cold. Never again.

Excellent food for the location of being inside a theater! The layout could be better but such is for the area. I recommend the chicken wrap, it’s my favorite. The calamari is not the best choice! Needs more flavor. Service is great so 5 stars.

I got their burger with a side of sweet potato fries and it was well worth the price. Though ordering made me late for my movie because the staff seemed so distracted even though it was only 3pm on a Sunday. There were 2 – 3 of them behind the counter and between all of them it took a good 5 minutes just to put my order in and have me pay for it as they were all running around and no one knew who knew what, if you catch my drift. I would eat here again, but I was disappointed once again by the SJC Regency staffing, which makes me not even want to bother.

Fantastic service even when the place is really busy. Fun to stop by just for a drink and appetizers before a movie or walking by. There’s is a great balcony where you could enjoy Beautiful Southern California weather.

Rick’s Café is a restaurant upstairs from the recently renovated Regency Theater in DT San Juan Capistrano. It is supposed to be a tribute to the café of the same name in the film Casablanca. Well, Sam is not there playing piano, no one in a white dinner jacket is kibitzing with Nazis or invaders, but the décor does have a certain Moroccan theme to it, so I guess that will have to do. This is a great place to pop in for a light meal before or after your movie. The chef has got it going! The tomato bisque soup is delicious and way better than the signature tomato soup at Sundried Tomato around the corner. The Kobe burger was perfectly prepared, nice bakery style bun and very tasty cole slaw. The calamari appetizer was served with a marinara that would have gone well with any pasta, it was really that good. They have a kids menu and a wine/beer bar with some nice beer choices on tap, including an IPA that I loved. Frankly, the food was good enough I would go back even if I wasn’t going to see a movie. Servers operate as a team, which was a good thing, because our initial waiter was distracted. Everything arrived on time, hot and delicious. Recommended.

We wanted to experience the VIP movie. But, alas it was sold out. So we settled for eating before the movie at the upstairs Rick’s Café. It was happy hour, the place was pretty much empty. Ordered a beer and a glass of wine. The waitress returned 20 minutes later with our drinks and took a food order. Ten minutes later, an empty glass and once again no waitress. When she finally returned, sans food, she took my order for another libation. Another 20 minutes later, still no food or second drink. When suddenly the waitress shows back up and says she doesn’t know what is going on back there. My recommendation is to skip the food at the theater and walk around the corner to Ruby’s.

What a place! The VIP Theatre, and Rick’s Café, great wine, dinner and wine before and after a movie, real leather seats, the staff was so attentive and the food was delicious — and my god they had this chocolate covered popcorn called Zebra Corn — fantastic!

This place is so fun! Bought VIP seats for a Sunday screening of Eat Pray Love(which was just okay and way too long) I digress, anyhow, we stopped at the bar in Rick’s Café, very attentive and sweet bartender chatted with us, we had just eaten so we didn’t order food but the menu looks good and the pricing is reasonable. We ordered a bottle of champagne and just before the movie started, went to our seats, the BT brought our champagne out in an ice bucket and we poured for ourselves throughout the movie– how fun is that! I’m not very tall so it would have been so fabulous to have an ottoman or foot rest on the chair(hehehehe– not asking too much, right?!) anyhow, the seats are comfy with a spot for your drink, eating in the dark during a movie seems messy to me, but you could hit the button on the armrest for waitress service during the film, nice! $ 16.50 for a VIP matinée, a bit steep but worth it for the girly fun of having champagne while watching a chick-flick! Décor is gorgeous, everything is new and clean and fantastic!

We went to see a showing of Eat Pray Love here last night, and I was impressed by this little theater. If you want an intimate movie experience, bring a few friends and enjoy the smaller crowds. I believe we were in the largest room, which honestly housed about as many people as your typical movie theater, in say one of their smaller screening rooms. For what we saw that was appropriate. The décor in the lobby and the cleanliness and attention to detail in the bathrooms(what bathroom that you’ve been to lately included hair spray and lotions for a little touch-up on the go?) made me only the more excited to see our movie, and return another night. A great little venue for a girl’s night out or a romantic date night., Regency Theaters in San Juan Capistrano does not disappoint! P. S. We didn’t do the VIP showing, but my understanding is that the VIP room houses some loveseat type of seating, and facilitates food from the associated restaurant, Rick’s Café. Lovely!
