Laura’s House Resale Store

I had a terrible experience here today. The ladies were grumpy with arrogance to match the sales folks at Louis Vuitton. I picked up a few things for my daughters and, while shopping, overheard how rude a young blond cashier was to a woman who mistakenly tried to buy something from the back of the shop. She was incredibly condescending and patronizing and refused to price the item and sent the shopper away empty handed. A similar tone was relayed to another woman inquiring about drop-​off times.
Nevertheless, I picked up a small number of baby items as well as a pair of shoes. Less than two minutes after leaving, I noticed the shoes I bought were complete garbage. The soles were worn down with 0% traction left, meaning if my daughter walked in them she would immediately slip and fall. I called the number on the receipt from the parking lot and asked if I could return.
The woman snapped at me: «All sales are final! You should have inspected the shoes more carefully before buying.» I retorted: «Maybe you shouldn’t stock garbage people can’t even use!» I did not get a refund.
I understand that sales are final but there should be exceptions, especially when my signature on the receipt wasn’t even dry and when they sold me a useless product. Even if she were more polite about it and at least offered an exchange, I wouldn’t have minded. I just felt like she was talking down to me.
The manager, Debbie, is another piece of work. She had to help out with my purchase and was snippy and rude with me two. After seeing the way they treated the other customers, I shouldn’t be surprised to have received the same treatment.
I visited the SJC location after having the complete opposite experience at the Laura’s House at Lake Forest. The ladies there are warm, friendly and helpful and the selection is much better.

Wow! What a find. Beautiful décor, friendly staff and an outstanding selection of used clothing, furnishings, books and art. Emily scored some great shoes, and a mermaid statue while Yumiko found a nice pair of jeans. Best of all was the well kept interior and engaging shopping experience which must have been really good to interest a non-​shopper like me. We’ll be coming back for sure!

I love this place! Really nice boutique that serves a wonderful mission — helping victims of domestic violence. The clothes, shoes and purses are high end… there are some amazing finds here.

I feel like I am on a treasure hunt whenever I walk through the doors! So much fun! This place has a great selection of really nice clothes and books. I found a great purse and jacket the other day — and such a great deal. Love this place!

While my husband was shopping my toddler and I were back near the dressing rooms. He was opening and closing the doors and I was right next to him making sure that he wasn’t slamming them or causing any problems. A very rude woman w short dark hair ran over and snapped, «excuse me but that’s not a good idea.» I felt like a chastised high school student. I would understand if I was not nearby or if I was off wandering around while my child ran wild but I am a very responsible and respectful parent and would never allow my child to be disruptive in public.
I will not shop at Laura’s House not will I ever donate to them again.
Train your volunteers better!

I absolutely LOVE this store. I don’t make it a practice to take family & friends to a thrift store but this one is an exception! When you walk in it looks like and upscale boutique. The store is always immaculate and the décor is great. Every time I go in, something is different and better. You would think that they would charge higher prices because of the quality of the merchandise and the brand names that they have but the prices are well below even some Thrift Store prices. I love it and will be a frequent customer for as long as they stay open. The staff is excellent! Thank you for being there on behalf of battered women. YOU ARE A TREASURE FOR EVERYONE!

If you are looking for a resale store that resembles a boutique then this is the place to visit! This store has everything from unique furniture to stylish clothing at fabulous prices. Great selection of books, accessories and home décor items, too.

This resale store is amazing. Laura’s House is such a great organization, the staff are friendly, and the store is clean and set up like a cute little boutique. They have a great selection and I love shopping here.
