First time visitor. Walking distance from friend’s place. Great burrito and tacos. Could be 5 stars if I have a chance to visit again and try more foods.

This little taqueria is the bomb! Try the home made tortillas; you will love them. Very clean and friendly. Nice seating inside.

Carnitas. They do them how I like them, slow fried and then slapped on the flat iron and crisped up in an amazing way. This is one of my favorite Mexican places in San Jose and probably California. Eat their food.

After eating here about 15 times over the last few years, I’ve finally decided to post my review. The tacos(two carnitas, and two carne asada) are the best I’ve ever had in San Jose. The quality is always good, but the last few visits the tacos have been absolutely fantastic – BESTINSANJOSE. The tacos de oro TRUCK in Alviso makes excellent tacos, but Mejor 2 seems to be pulling ahead of them.

I recently moved to the area, and this is quickly becoming one of my favorite establishments. This is a no frills taqueria in a part of San Jose that is surrounded by serious competition. There’s a certain understated pride to the interior. It’s clean, the service is fast, efficient, and friendly. The importance of crunch and texture to meats is not lost here. Their carnitas and al pastor is well seasoned and have a wonderful taste and texture. I’ve had their tacos with handmade tortillas, regular tortillas, and sopes. Everything tastes great and is a good portion. Try the handmade tortilla is you want a softer, fresher carrier of your hot meat injection. The small tortillas on the tacos are prepared a bit too crunchy for my preference, but they’re still really good. They have a self serve salsa bar with a nice cabbage salad and a very spicy green sauce and a couple other salsas. Try it out if you’re in the neighborhood. Or come visit if you want to catch a Latino soccer match. They’re open until 11pm.

Their cheese they use in their food is always old and it tastes really bad…

My family and i been coming here since i can remember would always get camarones a la diabla. which are very delicious hand made tortillas are a plus. The other day i was feeling like something more simple and had chicken tacos. Omg!!! The tacos are amazing the chicken is grilled and not marinated like in most places. I absolutely enjoyed every bite the tortillas are not greasy and soggy just perfect. If your in the mood for authentic Mexican food and are in the area you must try this place for your self. You get your order taken, made, and served by the owners which is always great. The neighborhood is a little icky but not to bad. The down side is that they only take cash and don’t have an ATM.

This is a dive resturant. I used the term resturant loosely. It’s more like one small eateries you find by the side of the road in Mexico. Ordered 2 super tacos. Hand pressed corn tortillas! Tortillas are soft & tasty what a treat. Alpastor was flavored but not overpowering. Carne asada was plain. Once you get past the rough exterior, rougher interior the food was good!

La Mejor Taqueria no. 2: good tacos. Not the greatest neighborhood and be careful using the side exit out of the parking lot if your car has low clearance, but for good Mexican food it’s worth the risk. Even though no one seems to speak English I found it amusing that the entire menu above the order window is in English. Not sure what that means, but don’t care cause the Mexican food in my own neighborhood sucks.

A bit dirty inside. Burrito was really runny and soggy. Maybe some like it that way, I definitely dont.

Omg this place is sooooo good! The resturant is small and cute and very clean! This is my second time here, and I always leave satisfied. I think last time I orders tacos since all the reviews were based on their tacos. Which were good. Today I ordered enchiladas and my boo ordered carne asada. The pictures on the menu look Exactly how your food is going to arrive. Their carne asada is super good! I would defiantly order this again when I come back, meat was so nice, tender and juicy. The prices are reasonable, especially for the amount of food you get and did I mention HANDMADE corn tortillas! I would recommend this place to anyone that lives in San Jose! Can’t wait to come back!

I should have went with the tacos since my burrito was so runny. Usually, I’m a pro at eating burritos with not a drop of a bean on my plate. But, this burrito had some really runny beans and watered down with minimal flavor. Meat tasted good. May try again but not sure when since there are other spots in the neighborhood(competition). This time I’ll go with tacos.

HOLYCRAPTHEIRPASTORTACOSAREAWESOME. Like Jason S. said, their pastor meat and crunch to juicy ratio plus the salsa. God Damn. It is so good. For $ 4.50 I got 2 pastor tacos and beans and rice. Got salsa from the salsa bar. MIXTHEGREENCREAMSALSA with the REDCHARREDSALSA. Pour over your tacos, beans, and rice. Tell me where you find a tastier 20 dollar meal at a fancy sit down. This meal is less than $ 5 and gets me stuffed. UNBEATABLETACOSPOT. I came back and tried a chicken super quesadilla and poured the salsa mix inside it. also AWESOME and only $ 6. It would have costed easily $ 8+ anywhere else.

Oh good lord these tacos are amazing. I just finished mine right now and was compelled to write a review on it even before I finished. I am a simple man, and I order tacos. The meats: pastor, tripas, lengua They do their lengua a bit different. The tongue texture is still there, but the meat is more robust and probably not cooked as long. Regardless, they are amazing and I recommend them. The tripas are in their full tripa glory. Tripas are fried intestines with a distinct flavor(not poo) that is unique. I find it delicious, and the flavor profile here it intense. The crunch is quite delicious also. The pastor blew my miiiind. I made a Unilocal(heh) when I just tasted the first piece of meat. The moist seasoned meats and the spices in it truly elevate it to one of the best pastor tacos I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve eaten A LOT of tacos in my lifetime. All this for $ 3.75($ 1.25 each) — happy camper

I’ve lived in San Jose for 61 years and, during that time, I’ve eaten a heck of a lot of burritos! These are the best in San Jose. Their burritos are about the same size and price of most places but the ingredients are perfectly balanced. Perfectly. Worth a special trip especially since their tacos and tortas are incredible. But…I’d say that the décor is a little off to me, color scheme just doesn’t work and the seats are all fixed so larger people will have a problem. Your order will also take longer than taco bell but that’s because they want to make sure it’s the best. Grab a bag of their goodies, drive a little bit away and grab a picnic table at Willow Glen Park.

Just ate a super burrito from here after contemplating it for many days. Made the mistake of eating the whole thing. I’m a small person, too, but I couldn’t control myself, the carnitas are just too freaking good… crispy yet juicy yet seasoned… the whole burrito is a comfort food masterpiece. The ultimate key to defeating any will to not eat until stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. I can’t think of any one thing about the burrito to complain about. Except now I feel like I’m going to explode. I got it to go, but got to experience the very colorful décor. It’s cheerful and basic, with standard fast food style booths and checkered tablecloths, bright red and green walls. The people working there are friendly and efficient. La Mejor isn’t messing around. I can’t move now because I’m so full. Ow. Delicious ow.

Maybe we went on an off day, but our dinner here was very lackluster. We had a variety of tacos and the tortillas were doused in oil, soggy rather than crispy. We had a chile colorado plate and the flavor was actually very nice, but the meat was fried instead of stewed, and some overly-fried parts were hard. We had the potato flautas and these were poorly stuffed, so some had almost no potato left inside. With so many great Mexican restaurants in this area, La Mejor needs to be better, or more consistently better.

Surprise surprise! This little place is authentic and delicious! The carne asada tacos I got were teeny tiny(about 4 inches in diameter) but they were very good — and the salsa bar(it’s covered, so just open the metal top) was varied and tasted fresh. Mmmm little morsels of grilled meat in a soft corn tortilla! I ordered 3 to fill me up at $ 1.25 each. I also ordered a carnitas taco, but wasn’t as impressed with it – the meat was overly fried in some chunks but the flavor was still good. I would recommend the carne asada over it though. Radishes and onions for garnish of course to complete it. Agua fresca is from a mix in those plastic fountains, so I don’t know if I’d recommend that — they had tamarindo and jamaica when we were there. The décor inside is very eclectic, with a high-tech jukebox and Telemundo playing on the tv inside. It’s brightly colored and no frills, but friendly service and good prices — feels like Mexico …
