Kumon Math and Reading Center of Cupertino

I went to visit this center because my friend’s kid is doing so well in school. I want to find out what the program is about. So amazing! Kids in the center do math & english work very diligently. The center is well organized. The assistants are very nice and friendly. Most importantly, they are able to motivate kids and even the parents. The instructors are knowledgeable and experienced!

I took my daughter for evaluation but I was no too impressed with the center. It looked disorganized, with no real time limit on the kids. Kumon problems are easy, anyone can do them if they are given ample time. The real challenge starts when they are timed and have to finish the problem within 2 mins or so to develop. My kids went to the Warm Spring center where they emphasized both speed and accuracy and I loved it.

I didn’t work at this one but it’s the one closest to my house so I thought I’d review it. I worked here part time because. well I’m a nerd. I like reading and math that’s why! You should take your kids here if you want them to have the educational tools that will give them a head start.
What is Kumon? It’s a tutoring center for kids (anywhere from preschool to upper level high school courses. there is even pre-​calc!)
The focus is on math and reading. There is repetition because practice makes perfect. Duh!
While working here, I discovered and realized. I missed many opportunities as a little child. The kids are SO SMART NOW!!! I feel like I was a dumb kid or something. So yes. you should take your kids here if you want them to be smarter in life from the start!
The crowd is usually private school kiddies who come here after. Their parents drop them off and either leave to run errands or sit in the other room and watch.
The kids each get their own little folder with their level homework and practice sheets. There are weekly testings and everything is TIMED!
NOTE: No outside homework is done here.
The focus is on perfection. To be able to learn the concepts and do it as fast as possible in different situations as well. 3+5 = 8. Now what’s 5+ 3 =? Haha. okay well there’s more to that.
Reading is very helpful. Kids can choose their own books from home or there is often a large selection. They even have to write about it.
