Loved their pork chop rice and their shaved ice selection. Quite bummed to know they aren’t open anymore!

Cream of corn soup in the fried brick toast! Sounds very fattening considering the bread is fried & oily, you may get sick of how heavy this can be, so be ready to share this with someone! We also order their mango snowy or the cappuccino snowy. Mango is never sour & always sweet & ripe. Sad they replaced the marshmallow in the cappuccino snowy with boba though, as I am not very fond of boba much! The spinach noodle with beef is also something we order every time we go here, broth is very tasty!

I really like this place and am really surprised by its low Unilocal score! I’ve been coming to this place for around 3 years now and still enjoy it a lot. I don’t go up to San Gabriel as much these days but stopped by last weekend to pick up some food for dinner. As usually we got the eel fried rice– the dish we always got in the past– and brought it home to eat. Even after 4 hours it tasted amazing. I was also greeted with nearly a full filet of eel when I opened the box. It is definitely worth it! Before we would usually get the ice here. It is one of my favorite Taiwanese snow shops in the entire so cal area. I’ve read many reviews saying the snow has changed in the past few months so I’ll definitely need to give it a shot next time. I still really recommend the eel fried rice. One of the best fried rices of my life.

Pa Pa seems to have walked away. Service is absent with the new management. Food is more or less the same but with an increased price. Would not mind if the service was better. Hope things improve here soon.

«The oyster pancake was burned!» «The food is so salty and oily» «Did they change ownership?» «I can’t believe half the restaurant staff is sitting at one of the tables and checking their cell phones or chatting with each other» «Is that vegetable dish burnt?» «Hey check out that table… I’ve never seen so much leftover shaved ice!» These were actual comments during our dinner meal. This place has recently changed ownership and is a ghost shell of what it was previously. It is no longer a place I will spend money on. The food was quite terrible! So if you are thinking about coming to Papa Walk… please run, don’t walk and go other way. Don’t hesitate to come back. I won’t ever again!

Under new ownership. HORRIBLESERVICE! The male server gives you the worst attitude. He gives you bad attitude then acts like 5 yrs old wouldn’t talk to you as he «serves» you because everything is the customers fault appeartently and just throwing everything on the table. The older female owner was at least nice trying to clean up after the rude server. I want to walk out before I even ordered anything. But because this is under new ownership I wanted to see how bad they got so I stayed. I order the taiwanese brown sugar slushy ice. The topping portion was very little. Not worth anyones time. Why would anyone want to pay to get crappy service that will ruin your meal?

After a yummy dim sum lunch, my friend and I wanted to get some dessert. I remembered this place used to have great shaved snow so I suggested this. We came and ordered the mango shaved snow — it was very disappointing. I already knew that the portion was small and it was kind of pricey, but I remembered it being somewhat worth if. First off, the mango pieces were browning and not very fresh/sweet. The shaved snow tasted artificial and blehh. The boba and mochi were alright. Overall, I don’t recommend the shaved snow.

As many others have stated, the restaurant is under new management. If you came expecting the same quality of food, you will be disappointed. Oily and forgettable. We pa pa walked out of there and likely won’t be returning

One Monday evening we decided to hit up our old regal beagle. As I entered the restaurant, I notice right away how empty it was, not the norm. Usually there is a waiting list at the door but today there was not even a peep. The only peeps were my peers waiting for me. The interior of the location was revamped with lime green walls and bland looking tables. Also the lighting inside was blasting that it took my eyes to adjust a bit. Once sitting down, my friends revealed to me that the place is under new management. What?!? Yet gazing through their menu the items seemed the same. So we stuck it out and ordered our usual, sadly my usual dish was also revamped. What the heck happened to my dry noodle dish and what are these peppers spread over. The meat mixed in was sliced different that it reminded me of pork chops instead of beef tendon. But my sole purpose for this visit was the mango snowy, after a couple of attempts to get the waiters attention, he came over to our table. We told him we like to order mango snowy, he replies it is out of season. $%*#! I know for certain it is not out of season as the mangos used in the past are not sweet Mexican mangos but regular mangos. Such a disappointment, could the rumor be true, could Papa Walk be gone. Did last year’s LA Times award topple it over its head and the owners decided to quit while ahead. Papa Walk was recognized nation wide as one of the top mango snowy spots. Honestly I would have given this update 2 stars but because I’m being generous and want the new owners to succeed, giving these guys 3 stars. Sad that it is true, good things don’t last forever, mango snowy escapade begins. Best of luck to the new spot, Papa Good. They should consider creating a new Unilocal page for Papa Good.

Previously, it was a struggle for me to decide whether to get Salju or Pa Pa Walks for their shaved snow desserts! However, my most recent has now eliminated Pa Pa Walks for a few reasons. DESSERTS Don’t get me wrong, Pa Pa Walks was a solid four star for me previously! My friends and I have been coming here for their shaved snow dessert the last four years. Occasionally, we would stop by for their food, but it has always been mediocre at best. Their selling point for us was their famous shaved snow and rice balls! Perhaps, it is the new ownership? No idea, but they have changed their shaved snow! We got the mango flavor topped with rice balls, honey boba, and fresh mango during our last visit. I was surprised to see that the color was different. As oppose to the lighter yellow-orange mango color in the past, the new mango shaved snow has a more solid glow. Don’t mind the color? Well, me neither. But now, instead of the light and fluffy mango taste we’ve all tasted and loved in the past, it is now bland and artificial. Is this what disappointment taste like? Their rice balls are also a little different. They are still using the same product, however, they are cooked to the point where they are too… soggy. The real fruit mango was the highlight of the dessert because it tasted fresh and sweet. I’m just so sad to see the original Pa Pa Walks shaved snow just go like that. SERVICE While I haven’t seen the new workers before, the server that took/delivered our order was a little awkward-funny(not a bad thing) and polite!

My boyfriend and his family have been here multiple times in the past and they say that it’s not the same ever since the owner and chef changed. As a first timer, I thought the food was fine, but nothing was fantastic. Of all the things we ordered, I would only recommend the cold garlic noodles(but it didn’t have enough garlic). We also ordered 1 shaved ice and 1 taro shaved snow. Both were excessively sweet, but I liked the shaved snow. It had nice taro flavoring and big chunks of real taro. There are a lot of similar eateries in the surrounding area and there is nothing that makes PaPa Walks stand out as my go-to Taiwanese place.

Pa Pa Walks is quite hidden in the plaza filled with other eateries and shops. If you park in the underground parking lot and take the stairs up, it’s to the left once you reach the floor level. Service: needs some major improvements. Some servers don’t know how to speak English, they don’t bring you the proper utensils or bowls for what you ordered, and I saw two of the servers kissing in front of the cash register. Haha. The restaurant was fairly empty but I thought it was kind of weird. Food: I originally asked the waitress if I could make the Spicy Tendon Noodle(dry) a soup noodle instead. She said yes but when the food came out, the noodles were dry. I started eating and it was pretty good as a dry noodle. Five minutes later, they brought me a bowl of soup. I assumed I was suppose to mix them together, but after tasting the soup I decided against it. The soup had a weird after taste. The noodles were spicy and the tendon was very tender. I’ve had better dry noodles elsewhere. My friend’s popcorn chicken was good. I was sooo looking forward to trying the boba milk tea snowy but I think they took it off the menu. My friend and I shared the Milk Tea and Brown Sugar snow that comes with four toppings of your choice and condensed milk. The snow had a nice soft texture and melted in my mouth. It didn’t taste anything like milk tea though. The brown sugar was way too sweet. Relatively small portion for the price. They gave a good amount of mochi balls and mango. They were stingy with the egg custard and lychee. I still think Class 302 ranks supreme! Pretty cheap but I didn’t think the food was outstanding in any way.

I’ve been here a couple of times, and each time I have left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Décor: there are lists of dish choices plastered on posters shaped like feet all over the walls. I thought it was genius since the place is called papa«walks» hehe. Cute little place with maybe 10 small tables available. Service: quick service once seated but the servers had minimal facial expressions which I thought was weird but whatevs. Haha. Water was refilled quickly. Food: I always come here for the green tea snowy. The large comes with boba, mochi, ice cream, and red bean. So yummy ^.^ this place is my to-go place for dessert. I also enjoyed the beef stew noodle. Yummy in my tummy indeed. Great portions and okay prices. Popcorn chicken is also really good. They don’t skimp on the chicken or cover it in excessive batter. It’s just right =) I gave papa walks a 4 out of 5 stars because of the wait. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes for our food to come out, and sometimes half an hour.

When I’m craving 台灣小吃(Taiwanese small plates) in San Gabriel, Pa Pa has been our family go-to for a few years now. It’s on the pricier side, but the food is pretty dependable. Usually we end up ordering the classics, like oyster pancakes, popcorn chicken, spicy oil wontons, and hainan chicken rice. Of course, their biggest strength is their dessert, especially the mango shaved snow ice. Perfect for summer afternoons! Parking: Garage, standard. Service: Kind of meh, typical of a Chinese restaurant. Wait time: It can get crowded during peak hours, but shouldn’t be more than 30 minutes(if it is, just go eat elsewhere).

If you love Taiwanese food, this is the jackpot. Located in the Hilton plaza(next to the Hilton hotel and across the street from Focus Plaza). The food isn’t as good as Simbala in Arcadia, but it’s a close second. On top of that, they have an amazing snow ice desserts with real fruit; something Simbala doesn’t have. I ordered the Miso Fish Fillet with rice. It comes with a side of rice, eggs, and cabbage. Nice hearty meal that is fairly priced. Things to order(that will never disappoint): stinky tofu, oyster pancake, pork chop rice. Coming back soon!

*Review based on food only, not shaved snow* Something random — In Taiwanese, «Pa Pa» means wandering around. So once you combine«Pa Pa» + walk, it’s essentially mean«always out and about /running around». In Taiwan, there are tons of night markets and street food — so if you look at Pa Pa Walk’s menu, most of food are Taiwanese snacks and desserts(e.g. shaved snow, boba milk tea, etc). Steamed Mini Pork Buns(Xiao Long Bao, $ 7.25): Thick skin and not-so-juicy XLB? Just don’t order it and get yourself a shaved snow or something …(1⁄5) Cream Soup in Fried Toast($ 6.95): Think of it as Taiwanese-style corn chowder, except the toast is deep fried. It’s the signature dish here, but just a warning — it can be a bit greasy. Other than that, it tasted pretty decent and smooth.(3.5÷5) Beef Soup w/Spinach Noodle(small, $ 7.5): This is probably the only place that sells beef noodle soup … with spinach noodle. Decent broth, but nothing to really wow about.(3.5÷5) If you are looking for a more complete Taiwanese food experience, go to Sinbala( ) instead — it has way better food. However, this is not a bad place for a quick fix on Taiwanese food. P. S. — Don’t come on Tuesday, it’s closed.

Service is usually good here, but the parking can be very bad especially when it’s during lunch and dinner time. People come here for their main attraction… Two words… MANGOSNOW… with extra condensed milk please!!! This is especially good in the summer when it’s bleeping hot outside! It’s basically like«diabetes in a bowl»! Yuuuuuuuuummmmyyy! There are other things besides the mango snow that you can order. I usually get there three cup chicken and their fried fermented tofu. They are very tasty and would definitely come back to try more things.

Came here with NH for dessert after reading many positive Unilocal reviews and having a friend vouch for this place. Located within a large plaza on Valley, it’s pretty easy to find. There is plenty of parking underground, even if it’s a bit difficult to get in and out. Even though we were there at dinnertime, we still managed to be seated right away. Service was just okay, I guess since we only ordered dessert they didn’t feel the need to check up on us. We got the Brown Sugar Snowy, where you get to choose five toppings. We went with pudding, lychee, coconut jelly, and two condensed milks. It came out with the first three toppings on the bottom, covered by a heap of snow ice, and we got three small dishes of brown sugar(syrup?) and condensed milk. We poured them on and dived in. It was delicious! Brown sugar with condensed milk and snow ice makes such a delicious combination! The lychee and coconut jelly were just okay, but the pudding was really weird. First of all, it was this weird neon colour, which is not what pudding normally looks like. And then the taste was a bit off, so we questioned what exactly we were eating… and therefore stopped eating it. So we ate everything but the pudding: P Apart from that weirdness, the snowy was delicious. Next time we’re going to get it with just brown sugar and condensed milk: P Maybe we’ll even try the food too… it seems like the Taiwanese food here is pretty decent. And I want to try their mango snowy as well in the summer. Too bad I’m rarely in this area…

$ 9 for a large bowl of shaved ice, i believe 6 $ for a small bowl. we ended up getting the boba flavored shaved ice.(i hate tapioca balls) but love milk tea… lol. and i have to say this dessert bowl was simply delicious! it comes with a huge mound of milk tea flavored shaved ice with egg pudding and boba balls as toppings. it also has a waffle cone ice cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream as well. if you want something sweet, this totally does the trick. its a lot for 1 person and it might be a lot of 2 people, but since i’m a fat ass… it was just perfect for me. this place is invisible from the outside. you pretty much need someone to show you this place, otherwise you’ll miss it. they also serve a variety of Taiwanese snacks. if i’m in the area again, and hungry i’ll be sure to check this place out. they only have 1 unisex bathroom.
