Asking a question about their BBQ chicken, what seemed to be the only non-fried thing on the menu: Me: «Does that mean it’s not fried?» Gentleman helping me: «Actually, it’s BBQ’d and then fried.» Me: «Oh. Can we skip part two?» (checking in the back) Gentleman helping me: «No. That’s not how we do things here.» Nor should it be. While initially disappointed about the lack of customization and the wait, what eventually materialized from the kitchen was a mound of chicken soaking in some sort of signature BBQ sauce. The little bite I had as prepared was excellent, and I was very happy to find quite a bit of white meat left once I was done taking off the skin on the rest.

the food is incredible. the chicken is by far the freshest ive EVER had and the sauces are amazing. be prepared to wait a little bit for your food. probably somewhere around 20 min or so. i find it best to call in ahead of time.

The food is AWESOME!!! Don’t go there on your lunch break though because you won’t make it back to work on time. Calling it in does you no good either. They’ll still make you wait. If you have time to waste waiting for your food, order the blackened chicken or salmon over rice with spring salad. It is soooooo good and fresh! A friend of mines visited from out of town and I took him there and he was blown away by the goodness of the food, but soured by the wait. How embarrassing. I had to short them on the remaining 2 stars because the wait is RIDICULOUS!!! Poultry and seafood does not take that long to cook. Let’s get it together people! I’ve always wondered why when you go in these establishments you have to wait forever and a day for your food? What is the problem? For this reason, I’ve stopped frequenting this place. Sorry, I don’t have an 1 ½ to waste waiting around for food to go. If you guys get it together I WILLBEBACK!!! :):):)

If you’re gonna do take-out fried chicken, do it right and make every single fat gram count — these guys make the best I’ve had in the city. And I recommend the fried fish even if, like me, you don’t like fried fish. But best of all is the bean pie — it’s the best you’ll find outside your Aunt Betty’s house! And the guys behind the counter are the friendliest you’ll ever run into.

Pretty killer fish sandwich(whiting). Not quite as good as Oakland’s Your Black Muslim Bakery, but not being associated with Yusuf Bey, less blood on the sandwich.
