The space is tiny and the flow of traffic is difficult because of where the bar is and where the smokin area is. It becomes jam packed. The crowd the night I came was very artsy /hipster factor. The DJ was amazing, one half of Optimo. The set dropped some sick beats but i simply wasn;t feeling the crowd. I felt like I should of taken a few classes at the Institute of Art before I came. I would probably boil it down to an almost exclusively hipster crowd.

Friend: «SIXDOLLARSFOR A SHOT(tequila) AND A BEER(Tecate)!!!» Me: «*Insert friend’s name* that’s the seventh shot of the night…» By then it’s already too late… Low and behold, there goes another shot on top of lord who knows how many they all had. Maybe it’s because I’m the responsible one who doesn’t drink much where I just feel obligated to say«yes,» or the sheer fact that my gals are pirates. Whatever logic made the most sense for me in that moment, and all-in-all, I can say this by far is definitely the place to pregame on a Tuesday(the weekly outings for us) evening with my lovelies since they have great deals on drinks. Not to mention their famous tacos — potato taco for the win!

I’m into this place! Loved the crowd, ambiance, and Afrolicious. Congos, samba, and afro beats rocked my world. Dance until you drop. Not to mention that the staff is low-key friendly. The crowd? So cool yet so down to earth. So refreshing on a Saturday night. Another plus on a Saturday… it’s easy to get a drink. The best part?! Only a $ 5.00 cover. WHAT?! Second best part?! Parking ain’t too bad either. BTW: That famous old lady was practically a fixture in the corner. Pretty funny. Lucky for me, Triple Crown is a just hop, skip, and a jump from my place. Ang needs to get out more :)

My first Colt 45 came with a paper bag koozie, Awesome! I’m surprised that I had never heard of this place until a few days ago. Good mix of people, a superb Happy Hour, and friendly bar keeps. I’ve never seen $ 3 draught beers on a friday night. The food looked great, and I’m a little upset that I didn’t order anything. I’ll be returning for some interesting conversations and good libations.

Um Colt 45’s for $ 3 and you get a souvenir paper bag with each can? YESPLEASE! Awesome place at the foot of the Castro, great mixed crowd and a wonderful Happy Hour. I’m always amazed when you can get a beer for $ 3 on a Friday night anywhere in the city. They had a DJ going as I guess they do every night but we left before any real crowd could form. Didn’t order any food but the few items I saw come out of the kitchen looked great! Best part was it being such a diverse place and no one seemed to mind each others mixed company. The epitome of SF coming to life in one small lounge. Awesome!

I feel like this is one of those spots that unless you live nearby or know somebody who lives nearby, it would fly under your radar. I for one, had no idea that it existed until I was clued in about their great happy hour deals. Thursday nights are $ 5 thin crust pizzas and $ 3 draft beers. The pizzas aren’t just run-of-the-mill either, they’re special with things like butternut squash, sage and bacon. That’s what I ordered and it was surprisingly good! The only annoying part of the experience was that on their website they advertise $ 3 well cocktails on Thursday’s but at the bar that promotion was nowhere to be seen. Bummer. Oh yah, and the DJ was… eh… boring.

Hurray for Taco Tuesdays! I Unilocaled«Tuesday Happy Hours» and found The Triple Crown. I’ve heard a little about it, but I like new places and wanted to check it out for a Fat Tuesday Happy Hour with my girls Rebecca and Rosy. They had $ 3 Tecate, $ 5 Corralejo shots — but you could order them as a combo for $ 6! Deal and a great way to start the night, right? We ordered $ 2 Tacos. So good. We had the Pulled Pork, Roasted Chicken and the Carne Asada with chips and salsa. The salsas were different and the mango habernero tasting one was sweet and spicy. I really like this place and will be back for more.

The food: Burgers were… burgers(and VERY over priced– $ 15 for a plain ol’ jack in the box burger)… meat with cheese, nothing more– IN n Out is better. Fries were good, except the weird spicy sauce(«aioli») — i couldnt figure out if it was butter or mayo it just had such a weird consistancy. The ambiance: i didnt like the ambiance of this place… it looks exactly like a small hole in the wall club– black everything, walls floors etc. with a dj booth and small dance floor. Wed. night DJ sucked, but i wasnt really expecting anything anyway. It feels weird to be eating here, like it should be more of a lounge or club than restaurant. maybe it’d be ok if you had a drink at the bar… if your in the area… and there is no where else to go… Bottom line: Wouldn’t go back unless I lived within walking distance, and even then probably not since i can pay $ 3 for the same burger at Jack in the Box

I was just here for the 2nd time for taco tuesday. I had their mushroom taco a few months back and remembered it to be super yummy. I got it again, and yes, it’s still super yummy. I went with a group of friends last night, we ate, drank, had a great time and went home happy. The only downfall to this place or to the taco tues venue is the crowd. Being busy is good for them but it was hard for us to get a drink and order our food. There was one poor waitress delivering the food. I have to admit the food came out super quick(bonus), but they need to devise a new system of ordering food. Maybe hire another bartender?

If you ever head to Triple Crown on the weekend — be sure to look for the distinct sassily dressed woman at the far left corner of the bar. Perched on one of their bar stools — she is by far one of the most on-point ladies in San Francisco. Her names escapes me as I write this, but she’s an older lady(though clearly young at heart) — and I learned from someone who works with the bar — that she’s 68 and apparently she used to be a regular at the Octavia Lounge — and since Triple Crown moved into the space — she still makes it her regular hang-out. You can usually see her just soaking up all of the Triple Crown revelry — while putting tiny forkfuls of food neatly into her mouth. Yesterday she was sporting a leopard print coat and shirt and had the most amazing feather shaped glasses. Her eyes were smiling as she watched the drunk people stumble up to the bar. It made my night. Any place that can keep a regular like this amazing lady — — a regular — is doing something right. I aspire to me like her — when I’m her age. Trust.

Chilly night. I’d been to Triple a handful of times mostly for Wigwam parties, never on a standard night. I take a seat at the bar with 2 other patrons. Quiet evening. The bartender doesn’t know me, I don’t know him. He pours a stiff Kettle One Citron and soda, it should warm me up. I space for awhile, thinking of the last party here. On event nights the lights are always kept dark, setting off the chandelier. It gives an amazing party glow that shines down on all the faces. I recall dancing to industrial beats with a crowd that’s always energetic and fashionable. Back to my glass I notice the barkeep topping off the inch or so with more Citron. I’m shocked, usually on a night so quiet the bars need whatever they can get, but here was this friendly gent letting me enjoy that drink just a touch longer. Back to my daydreams I glance around. There is an appeal to this bar I can’t quite put my finger on. The hipster vibe at times can be overwhelming, but appreciate their tendencies to party hard and you’ll cheer right up. The bartender tops me off one more time. «I owe you for that one homie, I’ve had basically three drinks for the price of one.» He replies«No you don’t, just make sure you have a good rest of your night.» Uneventful, but relaxing. I did have a good night. I guess that’s why I continue to return.

Cheap food(pizzas were good), cheap drinks, cool atmosphere! This place motivates me even more to start my own bar. They have an excellent happy hour until 9:30pm Monday-Friday! Plus, they serve food and have specials every day. That is just awesome! In addition, comfy seats(good for groups), live DJ(music gets a little too loud for talking), ample space for dancing if you wish, and cool bartenders.

Awesome, delicious, friendly, bargain, trendy, amazing, beautiful… What other adjectives can I use to describe the Triple Crown? The food is in fact, QUITE delicious. The staff is AMAZINGLYATTENTIVE, they are there when you need something, not when you don’t. Who wants people constantly hoovering when you’re trying to hang out with friends anyway? Pulled pork tacos are the BEST, juicy and fresh(only $ 2 on Tuesdays). Burgers are excellent, they hand make them! Get one with a beer on Wednesdays for really cheap, $ 10. Oh! and OMG, you must, must, must eat the heirloom tomato salad. yum, yum, yum, yum… :) And just a note, I’m not sure what some people are talking about, but sour-faced customers who tip poorly are usually the ones who complain about bad service…

Happy Hour~ Monday to Friday starting at 5:30pm(specials vary by day and time) Let me just say this, I am a cheap date. One drink and appetizer will get me nicely buzzed and happy. And when that happens, I might just fall in love with you. But I’m referring to the restaurant. I may be cheap, but not easy. =P Came here on a Friday with some coworkers. Friday special: $ 3 pints, $ 2 Bud Lights, buy one get one free pizzas and appetizers. Chimay and Stella Artois for $ 3? Score! 10 varieties of pizzas to choose from. We had the pepperoni mushroom, Italian sausage and roast chicken. Mighty delicious! Loved the tasty crust and bubbling cheese! Mmmm. And with the pizzas being only $ 9-$ 11, the buy one get one free deal is awesome! Dark walls, disco lights, live DJ. One happy Friday night!

This place is digalicious! Stopped in here for a Happy Hour with Dalane, Sara, and friends, and fell in love from the moment I stepped in. Décor is quite simple with dark walls, lovely glass chandeliers, tables and booths inside, as well as a few outside for the smokers! We sat by the window near the main entrance, with the velvet curtains! Awesome! Bar area is not huge, and may have to wait a bit, but don’t worry, the staff is friendly and efficient. The vibe was totally chill, and loved the diverse crowd with the locals, yuppies, skater punks, etc., The Happy Hour DJ Darren D was spinning some groovy tunes(techno, old school, mix-mash of MJ, etc.,), Solid! Anywho, Triple Crown has a decent selection of not only draft beers and wines, but also food(apps, pizzas, salads, tacos, burgers, etc.,). They have insane daily Happy Hour specials. Fridays are $ 2 drafts(until 9pm –AWWYAH)! I heard Mondays are Mojito($ 5) nights; Taco($ 3) Tuesdays; Thin crust pizza($ 5) Thursdays, etc.,
Speaking of pizza, there many delish pizzas(reg price at $ 10) to choose from, and we ordered the mushroom pizza(‘shrooms, fontina cheese, and truffle oil). Hot dayam, this was so mighty tasty. Anything with truffle oil is a winner in my book! Next time, I’m ordering the butternut squash pizza with applewood smoked bacon and sage. Doesn’t that sound interesting and yummerific? Oh, I also had a few bites of the sirloin burger and fries(served with a spicy aioli). These were delish! Burger was juicy and tender, but on the smallish side. Fries were thin, crisp and the spicy aioli was the bomb. BTW, food is served until midnight! Mad props to the Triple Crown. This is an awesome spot definitely worth checking out. Great drink and dinner selections, and can’t go wrong with their Happy Hour prices. Undoubtedly, I’ll return for Happy Hour, and perhaps even after 10pm when they charge cover, and this place gets even more bumpin!

I had fun here! It’s definitely a mixed crowd — kinda hipsterish on a budget, everyone kinda just ignores each other and does their own thing, but the music’s pretty chill and so is the atmosphere. Drinks are super cheap here, I paid like 5 bucks for a Pabst and a Sugar Free Red Bull(together, not separately). I used to work in clubs where a Red Bull alone was like 4 bucks, so this was a pleasant surprise. My dude and his BFF have followed some of the resident DJ’s here for years, but they were pretty underwhelmed tonight so hopefully we come back on a better night.

Taco Tuesdays cannot be beat. I had 5 tacos and 2 draft beers and I was out of there for under $ 15. The wait staff is very curteous, the people that go there are also easy to be around. And the tacos, again, are awesome. I hope to be a regular here. I need to try their Thin Crust Thursdays now…

I’m not easily lured out to clubs and bars, mostly because I stick out like a sore thumb amongst all the drunken hipsters and find myself generally hating the music or having a hard time functioning with the ringing in my ears from an overly loud, poor quality stereo… But I found myself happily surprised this past Saturday night when I joined some chums to celebrate a friend’s birthday at the Triple Crown! Housed in the old Octavia Lounge space, I found myself instantly enjoying the music, a mix of ’80’s and dance-friendly electro lounge(pardon me if I’ve got the names of genres all screwy, as I mentioned before, I’m not a club-scene maven). The club itself was spacious, located in a great neighborhood, where I don’t feel unsafe walking to my car, and the patrons seemed to be a delightful mix of gay and straight, hipster and non-hipster, younger and older. Everyone seemed friendly, definitely not snobby or trying hard to impress anyone, and at moments I found myself feeling like I was dancing at someone’s house party, it was so relaxed! The only downside? Now listen up, owners of the Triple Crown: Someone’s got to do something about the bathroom situation! The lines are long and the wait is ridiculous. I’m not sure what can be done about it, but something would be nice! Other than that, I can see myself being happily dragged back here anytime… anyone want to go dancing?!
