I thought this was a good place to see a band, with a good sound system, etc, but I simply did not feel safe there. I went to a sold out show(standing, not seated) and it was extremely crowded. Either the fire regulations are way too lax in San Francisco or they are not being enforced. If fire marshals would have come, I would have hoped that they would have shut the place down for safety reasons. If there had been an emergency(fire, explosion, gunplay) that required the club to be emptied quickly, many lives would have been put at risk. I would say that they probably packed in 50% more people than they should have. If they hadn’t packed so many people into the sold-out show, I would have rated this place 4 or 5 stars. In any case, the show I saw(Julia Holter) was great and the price was right.

Made my first visit here for a comedy show recently, and thought it was very cool. Super clean, interesting arrangement(rows of seats by the stage, then some tables and some stools along the sides, as well as a modest upstairs. I’d definitely look forward to seeing another show here!

We hosted our wedding celebration dance party at The Chapel. We can’t say enough good things about Patricia, the events manager, and the service staff. She was organized, responsive and thoughtful. The venue is a wonderful space to have a gathering. It’s intimate yet spacious enough to get your groove on. The catering menu is seasonal and there are plenty of options for choosing delicious appetizers and drink specials. Thank you to The Chapel for making our reception so memorable.

Mixed feelings about this venue. It has a cool vibe and is spacious enough for a pretty intimate, but large set. Plus the acoustics and lighting are nice. My main complaint is that getting into the venue is disorganized. We ate dinner at the Vestry(attached restaurant) before a show because the venue advertised that with dinner there you’d be walked in to a reserved seats. This was definitely not the case. The organizing staff didn’t seem to know what was going on or want to help. We finished our meal and waited for a while to be taken into the venue. By the time we got in, lots of people in line had already entered and gotten seats. There were no reserved seats in the venue– more like a free for all. Pretty disorganized.

Went to see Joshua Radin last night night here, and it was a seated show(but without seat assignments) which was a pleasant surprise. The acoustics were good, and the venue is nice and small so it feels very intimate. I had the Nail in the Coffin cocktail, which was extremely strong and not in a good way. We ordered some fries to go with our drinks, but they didn’t see our number so we waited for over an hour to get them.

A neat selection of drinks, laid back atmosphere yet with bright tones, the chapel theme, it’s a nice bar in which to enjoy some long, winding conversations.

The Chapel is a great venue. Good sound and two bars, connected to The Vestry which is a good spot to eat. Looking forward to catching more shows here.

I’ve utilized The Chapel in a number of capacities, from producing public events to hosting corporate events. Their team is absolutely on-point with great communication, creative event execution and an all-around beautiful space to host any sort of event. Im impressed with the diversity of ways to utilize the space, the beautiful aesthetic and pro staff. This is a really special place to host any sort of event. Thanks, team Chapel. You seriously rock. Oh, and that menu at the Vestry. Yum!

Fun place! This review is for the Sunday Brunch –Sunday’s Finest at The Chapel. Clean place for live music in the Mission I attended the Sunday Gospel and it was a riot. There were different buffets during the gospel brunch — singing, juggling, acrobatic work, etc. Loved the singing most especially. Good parking options on the website. The brunch buffest was generous — pudding aka french toast, biscuit and baked omelette. Needed some sauce for the food. Drinks were a bit expewnsive but the gospel brunch show was reasonable.

Best bar layout/drink selection of any venue in the city? That’s this place, the Chapel. They’ve got two small bars on the main concert floor, one upstairs, and the main bar connected to the Vestry. This place knows what I like. Try the Nail in the Coffin, it’s an excellent cocktail. The sound is never bad, the stage is always perfectly-lit, and you can see the show from anywhere in the house. Even from the main or upstairs bars, they’ve got you covered with televisions streaming the action on the stage. I’ve never had a problem with the staff and they’ve always been polite and helpful in my interactions with them. They say it’s haunted. And by «they» I mean their marketing team says it’s haunted. Well it was a mortuary after all. The ghost story only adds to the spooky identity the venue has created for itself. Gimmicks aside, this is a tremendous place to watch a show in San Francisco.

Spooky but quaint little concert venue that holds about 600+ occupants. Apparently an old mortuary, hence the spooky. It’s pretty easy to get here, and if your show is after 6pm, free street parking to avoid paying an ungodly amount for a garage. I came here to watch DNCE as a birthday gift, courtesy of Ervin, sometime last week. The crowd was pumped and ready to dance the night away. It’s open floor, standing room only and they have a balcony area with a few tables and chairs if you’re not interested in standing among a sea of people(gets a little crowded up there too). Both floors have bars, open depending on event! The only complaint I have is probably the sound. For a small place, I wasn’t expecting there to be such a strong echo. It never affected the performance, but whenever the band stopped to talk to the crowd, I had difficulty understanding what they were saying because of the echo/muffledness of it. Who knows, maybe it was just my ears. It was definitely an intimate concert ~ probably the smallest I’ve ever been to. But that’s OK, the more intimate the better.

It was a nice little concert venue. The man checking IDs was very friendly. There are cocktails in the $ 12-$ 14 range, and beers in the $ 6-$ 8 range. The sound was good for the concert and the restrooms were clean. There are about 8 chairs along each side wall, and for this particular concert there were about 4 hightop tables setup in the back that each seated 2 — though I saw a reserved sign on them. At night, the parking meters are free and we found a spot a block away(it was a Sunday). I went directly to The Chapel to purchase tickets to avoid the service fee since we live in Noe Valley. Online, the price for two tickets was $ 44 plus quite a bit in fees($ 10+) for tickets. At the window, I got the tickets for $ 46 — so it sounds like they may just charge a $ 1 fee per ticket for box office tickets. You can go any night they have a concert to buy tickets for an upcoming concert. I’d go back to this place again — though for me it’s mostly about the bands rather than the venue.

THISPLACENICKELSANDDIMESYOU. Worst service ever. I bought an online ticket to avoid the line and they still made me wait in line at the box office. Rude manager. He wouldn’t listen to my concerns at all. Do not recommend. Go to the Fillmore or any other places that aren’t this place. They will charge you for any service possible. Their drinks are overpriced and the workers are very rude and not helpful. Cheap venue, you get what you pay for.

The Chapel was the perfect space for our seated 826 Valencia scholarship dinner with just over 100 guests. The staff were essential in getting the space to our liking with the table settings, lighting and sound for a projected video we had for the audience. Also– the food was excellent! We started with a large salad(2 at each long table) and passed around, then the servers brought around a pasta dish with vegetables and chicken that they dished up for us and were not hesitant to double up another serving for those who asked! We finished with several platters of cookies to pass around and couldn’t have been more satisfied. The servers were attentive with bringing around drinks as well and moved through the tables without disrupting the event. This space was perfect for us and we owe many thanks to The Chapel and their staff for a lovely evening!

The Chapel is a new live music venue, restaurant, and neighborhood bar located in the heart of the Mission District. The Chapel occupies an historic 1914 building that was originally built as a mortuary and has now been stunningly renovated by veteran Bay Area commercial real estate developer and restaurateur Jack Knowles. The beautiful chapel with its 40-foot high arched ceiling has been converted to a music room with mezzanine, while the rest of the building has been remodeled to hold a restaurant, neighborhood bar, and an outdoor dining patio. Finally had the opportunity to head to The Chapel for a concert by Martha Davis of The Motels. Been to the other small venues in the City, I was looking forward to The Chapel. On the main floor, there are a couple tables with and about 10 – 12 bar stools. A bar is in the back and there is a second level, where some tables are located, as well as a bar. The sound system was pretty good and just love the intimate feeling of these small venues. I am now a fan of The Chapel.

Went here for the Silicon Valley Fashion Show! Cool venue. Maybe just announce that short people should be able to move up front to see? Haha. Clean banos and nice staff. Drinks were good and their sliders were delicious.

There was a good crowd going around 11pm on a Friday night, but nothing we couldn’t navigate. It was still boisterous and had a fun vibeA few friends already had a bar table on the side, and we were able to get a couple stools to sit with them. It wasn’t too crowded right up at the bar and it took us just a few minutes to order a round of drinks. * Walk the Palenque(mezcal, aperol, lemon, grapefruit, salted watermelon, orange bitters. $ 13) — 3.5 stars A good refreshing drink, but a little boozy for what I was expecting(I am very picky about this though). There were many too many mixed flavors so I couldn’t taste any one of them and just got a generic flavor out of this. Cocktail menu:

Are you an indie music fan? Rock n roll aficionado? Crazy for music in general? The Chapel is your place of worship in the Mission. It’s easily the coolest spot this side of Valencia to check out eclectic artists. Add the allure of nearby dining options like Delfina or any of the solid taquerias, you’re in for a great night out even on a Monday night. The chapel has two bars to cater to everyone’s drink needs, but the place to be is on the second floor balcony. You get to see the whole action on stage without having to fight for space. The sound might not be stellar(just get rid of the sound«engineer» already!) but the hypnotic power of that disco ball sure makes up for it. Deap Vally rocked the house with their monster guitar riffs and unbelievable drum beats! Praise the Chapel for hosting them!

I finally had the pleasure to attend a show at the Chapel and had a really good time. The venue is intimate and very unique. If you get there early enough, you can probably snag a table, but if you’re standing you’ll have a good view from pretty much anywhere in the house. I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for upcoming shows so that I can go more often.

When I heard the name of this venue, I thought it’d be a good place to get married. «Going to the chapel and I’m going to get married…» Actually, this would be an excellent place for an event of some sort because there’s also a bar and a restaurant attached. It’s also ironically named for all of the hipsters in the Mission. I stopped in here for some live music. If you want to get an up close and personal musical experience, look no further than this venue. I felt like the two musicians I was seeing were playing in my living room. Prices for shows are reasonable. I’m just bummed that the show was running late, so I had to book it out of the venue in the middle of the performer’s set to catch the last train to the East Bay. Another thing I noticed is the sound of the bar/restaurant tends to echo in the venue so if you’re at an intimate show then it’s a bit distracting to the audience and I’d imagine to the performer as well. The interior is dark and red, kinda like an episode of Twin Peaks. I’ll be back with a better exit strategy next time, especially if my boys with guitars from across the pond are playing here. When in doubt, drive to this venue so you don’t miss a portion of an otherwise intimate performance. Best of all, there were no douchebag wannabe fans at this venue at least none I could see. Glory hallelujah we were all saved by the church of rock n’ roll.
