French cuisine I think filled with delight. The octopus is one of my favs of San Fran by far

Friendly staff and enjoyed the live music on a Sunday evening. Only beer and wine served here but if you like beer, there are good options on tap. Good for singles or a date!

Mostly beer, few wines and a couple ciders. This is a great little spot I stumbled across on my stroll through mission. I had the cider which was cheap $ 5 and tasty. I believe before 9pm there’s no cover. Band came on a little after 9pm and the place was suddenly packed. It’s fish in a barrel for the ladies, if you’re a gent you best come with your unshaven face and long locks. Bartender was friendly and tall which automatically gets an additional star.

Horrible experience. Halfway through the night a random guy near the bar who claimed he was the«general manager» of Amnesia picked a fight with my friend. My friend was trying to find a jacket he lost with the light on his phone, and I guess it pissed the«manager» off somehow, and he literally punched my friend in the face. I could not believe it. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. Turns out the guy actually did work there, but obviously he wasn’t the general manager. But the bouncers did nothing about it, and just asked us to leave. I honestly can’t even explain how insane the entire thing was, but I’d never go there again after that. There are a bunch of other bars nearby that are better like Dr. Teeth and Shotwells.

Probably an acquired taste, but being from New York I liked it. The beer selection was good, the overall vibe was pretty cool, and the live music was enjoyable. It did get pretty crowded here on a Saturday night. The bartender — Carley was really nice.

N.B. I’m rating Amnesia in its capacity as a dive bar. If you want a music venue, bump my rating up a star, maybe two. I much prefer dive bars I can have a conversation in – the music here is too loud to talk to people, and the seating is limited.

While I was in town, my fiddler friend brought me Bluegrass Mondays. It was pretty hoppin’ for a school night! The space was quite lively and loud, but it was tough at times to grab a drink. Definitely A-OK, and not in a bad way. Highly recommended if bluegrass is your thing.

Excellent atmosphere and even better staff! Great music programming… only reason why no 5 star is the sound system could be better.

Amnesia is my favorite venue in Mission district for many reasons; They really support local musicians, cover is always accesible, the open door is inviting to no local people to walk in and have a good time, beer selection is great. Any day is a good day for Amnesia, just be open mind and enjoy the music.

Great little spot ruined by the absolute worst bartender I have ever encountered. 8÷6÷15 Bartender spent the whole night on her phone with her back to the customers texting. When I first tried to get a drink I waited about a minute after watching her go in and out of several text messages and had to call out for service to get a drink. She promptly resumed her texts once I got my beer. Some other customers asked her to stop texting so they could get drinks and she chewed them out telling them to go elsewhere if they didn’t like it. She stated she was texting the owner about very important financial matters. It was a slow night so I could see playing on your phone but this was outrageous. Face your customers and put down the phone when someone walks up to the bar. What a joke.

The musician that performed at our wedding, was having a record release party at Amnesia in San Francisco. We were excited to attend, since we reside in SoCal. There is nothing like an opportunity like this to experience something new! We would not likely happen upon a dive bar in the city if we didn’t know who was performing… The bar is dark and somewhat intimate. It’s more deep and long than wide. The drinks were well made and service was good at the bar. We sat at the bar to watch the show to a well intentioned and packed house. There is some seating here, but much of the venue is standing room only. We saw some posters and this live music venue hosts different styles and genres of music with tons of variety. I can’t say we will be back, but our first experience was fun and a special night out for us to listen to Uni and Her Ukulele.

Great neighborhood bar. We went on jazz night(Wednesday) and the place was hopping. A friendly, diverse crowd fairly shoehorned into a narrow deep space. Great acoustics for the top-notch jazz the Gauchos were pumping out. Beers are mostly $ 5(great for SF) and as low as $ 2 for PBR. The bartenders were very friendly. Great vibe. We’ll be back for bluegrass night one of these Mondays. Parking in this neighborhood is tough in general but especially challenging when The Chapel(on the next block) has a sold out show.

My friend and I were walking home after an evening in the Mission, and we were captivated by the band playing inside Amnesia. We paused and decided to pay the $ 5 cover to listen to Tall Tales & the Silver Lining… which was probably one of the best spontaneous decisions I’ve ever made. They were so good! Great vibe in here, but it is SODARK. Hard to see the menu above the bar, but there are lots of options that caught my eye, including soju cocktails. There is also a go-to section for«Cheapos» so good job, Amnesia. I feel like I would never actually plan on going here, but I would definitely stop by again if I heard another good band playing.

This may be the darkest bar I’ve ever been to, but I’m okay with that. The first time I stumbled into here I wasn’t really sure about my feelings… service was kind of slow, it was really packed(Friday night) and the live band was super strange and totally not for me. HOWEVER, I have been back a few times and really enjoyed myself. It’s a charming little hipster bar in the mission. They have live music every night, and you can find a decent crowd there even on a Monday. On Monday’s they have bluegrass and on Wednesday’s they have jazz. I went this week for jazz and the first band that played made me feel like I should be on the streets of Paris! There’s a decent beer selection and lots of little tables in the back if you don’t feel like grooving on the dance floor. I came here with a date and it was a good vibe for us. Cash only, of course. I like to check their website and see what’s coming up for music, but sometimes I’ll just be walking by and can’t help but stop in for a drink!

Really, really good live music. Every night. Cover is pay what you feel. Which is swell. Also, good beer. I don’t think they have wine or food. But there is good music and good beer, and almost always a lovely atmosphere. 5 stars for definitely achieving what it’s trying to achieve.

This was a great bar down in Mission. I would describe Amnesia as a cool eclectic bar/lounge. The people there give off a great energy and sooner or later a dance party begins on the floor. They have a nice blend of light to dark beers, a few on tap, and most are bottled. You can’t go wrong with a $ 2PBR. I found it clever that they had a «cheapos» section on their bar menu. Can’t blame the poor grad students for being on a budget! I will sure be back to enjoy some music and brews.

I’ve seen my friends’ bands play a number of times at Amensia now and each time that I come here I appreciate it that much more. It’s got charm. It’s got stamina(I’m always impressed by music venues that continue to do their thing and continue to stay open in SF). And it’s got great music, I was just re-reading my 2007 review for this place and it made me so glad that I’ve had the opportunity to experience this place — many times over — since that initial whiny — bad pun filled — review. I’m thankful that I’ve learned to give places a second, third, and forth chance. Amnesia deserves it. Amnesia’s small stage has hosted some epic San Francisco acts, their free water dispenser is always well filled, and their basement«backstage» has always been low-key and full of quality conversation. When I’m looking for live music during the week — Amnesia is one of the spots I look to. They host quality local and visiting live music consistently. Trust.

Live music basically every night. Lots of really good beers. Delirium and chimay and a framboise oh my! They have jam sessions Wednesday if you’re looking to play some jazz. They also have not very good music, but the eclectic mix is pretty much what makes this place. Different styles every night. But seriously a word of warning about the music: while the Belgian beer will make you happy the ear piercing screams may make you unhappy. Also note: covers on Thursday through Saturday :(
