This is place is pretty sweet. A true neighborhood coffee shop where you can get a delicious breakfast bagel, some fresh roasted coffee or a fancy latte. Good looking space, that makes one feel cozy if you want to hang around and finish some work, or just read a book. The owners are exceptionally friendly, and genuinely welcoming. They pretty much know you by name, both you and your family. It feels like dropping in to see an old friend, who also serves you a delicious hot beverage. That applies to everyone: whether you are a local coffee shop regular, a neighborhood mom or a business dude rushing off to the office. Bottom line: good coffee/tea/pastries/sandwiches, cozy space with some outdoor seating, and super friendly owners.

Super nice and friendly. I walked in at 6:10 and got a coffee and carrot cake to eat there. They could have shooed me away since they close at 6:30 and were already cleaning up in preparation. They did not. Great service. Good carrot cake. And a pretty cappuccino.

Very Spacious place with clean bathrooms and friendly owners. I am not a coffee snob and didn’t try and food so can’t comment on that. But a good place to stop by and kill time which is what I am doing right now! Wish they had some sofas.

Excellent café with great coffee, great pastries, and sandwiches. I tried the egg salad sandwich and the turkey sandwich and they were both very good and clearly done very professionally by experienced employees. The café is always clean and tidy. There is a lot of room in the back where someone can use their laptop away from the sun and glare. They have free wifi. The bathroom is always clean. One thing in particular that I like about this café over the one couple doors away(I think it is ilana’s) is that there are no people smoking cigarettes and talking loudly in front of the café the smoke always gets in at that café. But at Royal Grounds they don’t have this horrible problem.

Really great coffee. Clean, quiet. A nice place to meet with a friend and have a conversation or get some work done on your lap top. The service is friendly and courteous. I would not drive across town to go here(since there are coffee places all over the City) but if you are in the area or wanting to meet a friend in the area, I would recommend it.

This has been my morning coffee spot for four years! Friendliest couple open it every morning. Easy to grab a place to sit & eat or work if you want. The food is great, breakfast sandwiches or regular sandwiches. Also, they have almond milk as an option!

Nice quiet environment to study/read. My chai latte had a lottttt of cinnamon in it but I drank it anyway.

The only thing I had here was a bagel with cream cheese, which was pretty good. However, the service was not up to par. The cashier kept side-eyeing my friend unnecessarily. The place itself is cute and the menu and prices are nice enough so I may consider coming back. Maybe.

Good cappuccino & macchiato. They have a sense of humor, evidenced by the blackboard offering called«Keith Richards»(contains FOUR shots of espresso!). Pastries looked good, sandwiches(incl. egg salad) sounded tempting. Friendly service.

Never had food here, but the coffee and mocha are quite good. Plenty of seating, quiet and close to the 38 Muni bus stop. Great place to be at in the early mornings if you need a place to get some homework done. There aren’t many electrical outlets for your laptop, but that’s alright for me. It gets pretty packed in here during the evenings when the college kids needa place to study.

In the upper Richmond, there are two Royal Ground locations. One, at 17th and Geary, has a lot of customers, especially in the afternoon; the other, at 25th near Clement, is less-peopled. Both locations have an excellent selection of edibles, but the latter is more relaxed and roomy. A latte here is competent and hot, and there’s always a good selection of single or group tables. Free wifi, and a decent amount of power outlets. Royal Ground may seem like just another coffee shop, but they do everything just right.

Let me start this review with some back story. I work from home. Anyone that has worked from home knows, your couch gets more and more uncomfortable every day! Royal Grounds is right around the corner from my house and was my first trial coffeehouse/office in San Francisco. I have now worked out of 5 or 6 coffeehouses and Royal Grounds has been BYFAR my favorite. If you are looking for a hip coffee shop, crowded and lively, this is not your place. However, Royal Grounds was perfect for me. They have free Wifi which actually allowed me to load multiple websites, play videos, and more! I got a comfy booth in the back, and best of all, there were PLUGS! I had a whole power strip to myself(as well as most of the café, but that is another story). I got an iced coffee which was good. Nothing spectacular but good for an afternoon treat and inexpensive. The coffee cake I had to go along with my coffee was fabulous! I sat for 4-hours undisturbed for about $ 4. Other patrons did wonder in and our in the time I was at Royal Grounds, but I would never be afraid of not getting a seat. The staff was extremely friendly and the store was clean. I have read great reviews about the breakfast sandwiches and am looking forward to trying those as well!
There seems to be a lot of places to choose from on this strip of Geary when it comes to coffee and sweets. This one had quite a few people hanging out so we decided to stop in for an after dinner treat and coffee. It’s really cut and cozy with a spectrum of desserts, coffees & teas, and sandwiches. My hubs and I got house coffee, mine with an iced lemon poppy seed slice and his with a carrot cake. Everything totaled about 8 bucks which was great! Desserts and coffee were spot on… looking forward to stopping in one morning for breakfast.

Not a creature was stirring. No mouses. Didn’t see any of those. Not many people either. Can see why this location of Royal Ground has trouble attracting clientele. Out of the way. Street isn’t exactly full of life. But make the effort and inside you’ll find a very friendly staff, reasonably priced espresso drinks and plenty of eats. Americano with sugar free vanilla was both cheap($ 2.60) and good. Multiple positive reviews leave me hopeful they’ve got a strong following that can sustain their business. They certainly deserve it.

I thought this was just another café but turns out they have really yummy breakfast sandwiches at good prices. I had an egg and bacon bagel and it was really good. They make the food and drinks fast but it may be hard to grab a seat here. Not sure about other details as I’m not a regular, but if you’re in the Richmond and looking for a breakfast place most diners are really busy and this would be a good alternative option.

This is where I go on my days off or PM workdays for my AM coffee fix. I live right around the corner. The young lady who always works here in the morning is very friendly and remembers people. Although I don’t have a complicated order, I now only have to walk into the place and she will basically have my order ready by the time I get to the counter. Coffee is ok(I usually prefer coffee without milk, but this coffee is a bit bitter so I do need my milk in this one). The reason I continue to go here is because of the friendly service and the cheap coffee. They also have good(very cheap) sandwiches! Plus, free wifi in a nice little café, yea, if I’d still be in school I’d be studying here all day long.
