If I could give zeros stars, I would. Gross food over all. Next time I will just get real oriental food from the restaurant by my house!

Group outing and a few others first times having dim sum. I felt bad… Shu Mai was the best of all. Other dishes were just a little off. Under/over cooked. Not a good soup dumpling. Dry scallion pancake. Just not a good representation of my favorite kind of meal that is dim sum. Probably won’t be back anytime soon.

This place is a hidden Gem! dont let the location fool you, it’s one of the nicest little restaurants in the area, and seemed very clean inside, including the rest rooms. The food is pretty much the same stuff you see in chinatown, typical Canto dishes like the Ham Hocks in soy sauce, the pig’s knuckles, fried fish, fried chicken legs, roast chicken, stir fry vegetable dishes, pork ribs with black bean sauce, bitter melon, sweet & sour, chow mein, etc Plus the restaurant menu has lots more authentic /specialty dishes, and chef’s specials, full course family style dinners, excellent service everytime! I would come back more often, not many other good Chinese places in this part of town, this one is probably the best one.

Great authentic Chinese food and friendly service! Not many real Chinese restaurants in this area so we were very excited to find this one.

Was really excited to find a Chinese restaurant so close to where I work! Got inside and liked how they had some ready to order food as well. So I got some of the chicken(looks like orange chicken but its not) along with some hot and sour soup. I have never been to a Chinese restaurant I wouldn’t order from again, but the chicken was just okay, I only ate it so fast because I was starving. The soup had a funky taste to it, this is the first hot and sour soup in my life that I’ve had that didn’t hit the spot, and I always eat this kind of soup. Gross. Very disappointing :(

Possibly the worst experience with customer service I’ve ever had. I went to their main website and ordered and paid online with a coworker. When we got to the restaurant, the lady told us that the payment we had made was not directly to them and that the ordering account is no longer associated with the website. They had printed our order with all of our credit card information and left it sitting on the counter for random people to visibly see.(I’m talking about ALL credit card info: full name, address, full card number, sec code and validity date of the card– basically everything someone needs to steal card info) When we asked where our money went, they told us that they didn’t know. So I had to call customer service and cancel our orders to make sure our card wasn’t charged. When we asked why they advertise this payment system on their website, they just repeated that it is no longer associated with the restaurant. How did they manage to print out our confirmation then ? Bottom line: the customer service is the worst. If I could give negative stars, I would. They just acted like it was our fault that we went to their website and ordered directly on there instead of coming in. Don’t waste your money.

If you have a very American rating standard, definitely keep yourself away from here. The reason I give four stars is fairly simple: It gave me all I want to fresh me up. The time I stop by here I was tired out from whole day work with extremely bad mood, but it was like it never happened after finishing the meal. Well, you need to grab a menu yourself at cashier but you will never worry that you’ll wait longer for the plates than you expect. The waiters would not stand by to respond any of your requests but they will smile and chat like you were friends. What you ordered might not surprise you but you would have a very calm and private time to eat them up while refreshing your mind. So don’t miss here when there’s a moment you feel you’re abandoned by the world :)

I keep rolling the dice and eating here because it’s right next to work and it’s cheap. That said, they do not follow health codes at all, and the food gets far too cold to remain safe. They offer to microwave the food for you, which is a must, but the containers the microwave it in are not microwave safe. The food tastes ok, and is very cheap, but every time I find myself in a pinch and decide to go there, I know that I’m gambling with the rest of my day due to the inevitability of food poisoning if I keep eating there.

First time here. Food looks clean and fresh. Ordered the spicy bbq pork chops over rice, and it was pretty good.

The people here are truly so nice but I just can’t give it a higher rating. The inside of this restaurant isn’t bad but I couldn’t enjoy dining in this environment/location — it’s rather sketchy. The food here is much better suited for«to go» anyway and it taste like greasy fast food but it’s extremely cheap.

In command. Chef’s special Imperial Chicken had an eye-catching mixture of white meat poultry, snow peas, broccoli, carrots, celery and a homemade white sauce. Expected something heavy. What was unexpected was the knowledgeable and helpful staff member delivering on her promise it was actually light and healthy. Also really good. You get almost two meals for $ 11. Other choices include hot plate items and dim sum in the takeout area up front and a more tradition restaurant in the back. If the chicken exemplifies the rest of the menu expect you expectations to be exceeded too. These guys are in command.

This review is based on the takeout portion of the restaurant. GOURMET! This establishment is by far one of the most exceptional Chinese take out on the block! I come here often, and I tell you that their food is legit. Portions are great, and there is plenty of seasoning on their dishes. I highly recommend you get the 3 item combo, and add a few potstickers, with 2 fried chicken legs. You come out with all that food for about 10 bucks! In addition, the ladies that work here are super nice. Forget spots like PF Chang’s, because you have gem, a diamond in the rough right here.

Dining with the homeless and transients on Market Street in the heart of the Civic Center area is as sadistic as you can get. Whether is it is fine dining or below par meals, I am fearless and always there;(*knock-knock*) on wood. There are two kinds of businesses in this restaurant. The front is where the business sells cooked Chinese deli items, dim sums and other appetizers. I am optimistic on how fresh and how much of those items sell in that area. In the back is the actual restaurant. Surprisingly the restaurant is very homely and clean with friendly waitresses assisting my needs. I was here twice, both times for dinner. My first visit, I ordered the Beef and American Broccoli over Pan Fried Noodles. For $ 7.50, I get the meat and colorful vegetables over a nest of pan-fried noodles. I also got a $ 3.50 bottle of Sapporo with my meal. The pan-fried noodle was not overly oily and cooked just right. This restaurant’s version is legit. My first meal: My second visit, I was a bit hungry. So I ordered Rock Cod with Cream corn over white rice. The $ 6.50 rice plate has chunks of boneless fish meat with a creamy creamed corn sauce. I also got a pair of egg rolls from the outside bakery and another bottle of Sapporo with my second meal. You can also order appetizers from the restaurant as well. I should have done that, because the pair of egg rolls from the bakery was soggy and not fresh. Indeed I made that sacrifice and paid the price. My rice plate: Egg rolls: As a customary and complimentary treat, I get a fortune cookie on both my visits. The fortune cookies were old and stale. You might want to skip the free treat. The restaurant has better food as oppose to the deli. As least you know the food is fresh and tasty!

It took me a few years to try this place. I just kept walking past it and thinking, «Hmm… that doesn’t really look that good.» However, after Fu War changed names and hands I was determined to find another close, convenient Chinese food spot in the area with big portions that was cheap. Enter Oriental Restaurant… or rather, I hesitantly entered Oriental restaurant one day. Service is usually friendly(in my experience it’s been friendlier during the daytime) and the food is good. I tend to get noodle and vegetable dishes… the noodles are not overcooked and the veggies are still colorful with a bit of crunch. It’s a little oily but not too, too bad… but unlike some takeout places, you cannot cook your next meal in the grease at the bottom of the carton. They have a minimum charge and/or service charge for debit cards which is quite frankly a pain and makes me eat here less often than I would otherwise since I seldom carry cash. It’s something like $ 1.50 which is just way too much. I skip this place often in favour of a place where I can use my card and get a drink with the money I would’ve spent trying to use it at Oriental Restaurant. Also, this review is for takeout so I’m not really factoring in the restaurant itself. I’ve never had the desire to sit and actually eat here. Because, well, my initial thought of «Hmmm… that doesn’t really look that good» still sort of applies to the place itself. In my opinion, this is one of those restaurants where the food best enjoyed away from the ambiance of the place it came from. It’s a 3.5 but when I can get what(for me) is two meals for $ 6, I round up.

I have to say the people are really nice but I got pretty grossed out when I walked in to get food from the front area and some homeless lady in a wheelchair with a dog came in and the dog peed on the floor and no one cleaned it up. I guess its expected to this see this sort of stuff since its in the Tenderloin, but it made me not want to come back anytime soon. You can also sit at the tables in the back for a sit down lunch or get food in the front as a quick take out. As I mentioned a lot of transients come here because its super cheap and they order in the front. I understand they got to eat to but it gets pretty gross when they wig out and get all crazy inside sometimes. The food is just OK but I think that’s the way they want it here. Fairly cheap prices and a variety of dishes to choose from. I usually get the sweet and sour pork and its not bad at all and best part… they actually put big chunks of pineapple in it… yum! The rice and chow mien are good to. Tofu and veggies are OK except the last time I got it there was a tofu wrapper still attached to a tofu piece :-( If your starving and want some Chinese food quickly– here you go.

Once in a while its nice to eat in a restaurant where there are no TVs. Especially when its on Market street and there is plenty of action going on right outside your door(think Cops). The food was good, Chris can eat a lot of chicken so its good the portions are also big and the service was nice. They were even nice enough and gave me a fortune cookie that had good fortune in it! ‘Felix B’ is a true Asian cuisine connoisseur and an expert on Chinese food — and his review is spot on!

Probably the best Chinese food in the civic center area. The décor is pretty simple, something you would likely see in Chinatown. The food is good. I especially liked the chow mien, crispy chicken and salt and pepper pork. Also, it is not crowded and the service is quick so it’s a good place to go for lunch with your coworkers. Additionally, they have dim sum to go so if you don’t feel like sitting down.

Don’t eat here!!! Unless you are looking for DIRTCHEAP food. I mean literally, dirt. I watch a lot of Ramsay shows, who by the way is my husband, and he says if you ever see a microwave WALKBACKOUTTHEDOOR. I failed to notice the microwave. The way the set up of food is everything is sitting on a «warming» thing and you choose your food. Like Panda Express. After selecting my picks the lady took my plate and put it in the microwave. Feeling ashamed and afraid to speak up I paid for the food trying to convince myself it’s okay and that I warm up leftovers all the time. It cant be THATBAD. I didn’t finish my plate. It was slimy and had no taste. I looked around. There was a lot of regulars and they all knew each other, even the workers. Please AVOID unless you’re super poor and don’t care if the food isn’t fresh.

Whenever I’m too lazy to pack my lunch for work, my coworker and I would go here for the cheap Chinese food! I used to get the egg rolls in the glass case by the entrance, but I realized that they’re the reason why I get the runs after work LOL. So now when I dine here, I make sure to get the food that’s cooked in the kitchen. My usual dish is House Chowfun– it comes with calamari, shrimp, chicken with chowfun noodle, beansprouts & cabbage. It’s not too shabby for $ 6 a plate. Since the weather gotten colder, I started ordering the seafood noodle soup, it’s not that bad but I had better. I think what this place lack is some SRIRACHA :) otherwise good cheap eats in the Tenderloin.

ALOOOHA, when i getto sf, i find this place reasonable and fill my opu. maybe not to a high standard, but right there on Market near 7th… walking past on my way back to the Castro or SOMS, i grab some fried chicken, some noodles… a good option to heading to chinatown…
