I had the Beef & Lamb Gyro, and while it did get rid of my hunger pangs, it was a bit underwhelming. Could have been any Gyro anywhere. Just a pretty bland flavor, I guess.

Stopped by this establishment after a quick jog around the neighborhood and enjoyed a simple lamb and beef shawarma. The portion seemed pretty generous, the meat was lightly marinated and the overall shawarma was lite. I would eat here again, if I happen to be in the area and wanted a quick bite to eat.

What an awesome find! I was taking my parents out for lunch and we came upon this little restaurant in the marina. My parents never usually go outside chain restaurants so this was a big change for them. Marina and Kebab had the great Mediterranean cousine that opened up my parents eyes to new food choices. The food was inexpensive and you got your moneys worth. The server was friendly and they were especially accommodating with our requests for seating situations. Definitely loved this little hole in the wall and I’ll be back when I’m in the Marina!

I was in a rush and had to pick up something quick. I came across this place and thought well this is the only place on my street that I have not tried. Sure why not. I ordered the Chicken Gyro Wrap. It wasn’t bad. Well cooked chicken, great flavors, fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The food came out within 5 minutes and I was back on the road. I would say it was ok. It just served the purpose of filling me up. This place has a small dining area but it’s more for a quick bite. Nothing fancy. I would say everything is just ok.

We were looking for a quick dinner and the Grove was out of gorgonzola so we crossed the street and wandered to Marina and Kebab. Although there are a few tables, this place is best situated for take-out. The tables and counters are clean and I liked that there is chili garlic sauce on all the tables. The beef/lamb wrap(about $ 7) was ok but definitely not a humdinger. The meat was dry, not quite jerky but almost, and although there was a sauce, it was spread on very lightly, but even then, the entire wrap was very bland, including the sauce. I found myself adding heaps of the chili garlic sauce onto every bite just to make the wrap have some flavor. The baklava was also very dry and not tasty. I did enjoy the cucumber water! Delicious and very refreshing.

All in all I found it pretty bland. I’ve definitely had MUCH better Greek food before. I wasn’t even the even a fan of the hummus and it’s hard to go wrong with hummus! Probably will not be coming back. MUCH better options right near by.

I had the gyros, with a side of dolmas(stuffed grape leaves.) The gyros was kind of bland, and served in lavash-style flat bread which was kind of flavorless. The dolmas practically disintegrated when picked up. On the whole, kind of disappointing.

haha! seriously, a Turkish joint at the marina?! I accidentally found this place but im glad i did. Had the«Iskender Doner” — Alexander Kebab– and it was really good. Also had the ‘sigara boregi’- eggroll looking fried things w/cheese in’em. That was just ok– will not order it again BUT i would def. order the iskender doner again and also try the other things on their menu. There are few seats outside– ok service– interior design could be better, so it look a little bit more sophisticated/gourmet. And for those people that were passing by and telling ea. other it is greek/mediterranean food, i would like to correct them here. it is Turkish food at this place. LOL. HAHAAA. i would be back.

I was craving a healthy salad, but wanted something a little different from my usual haunts. The Greek salad was huge and tasty. My only criticism was that the prices seemed a little steep.(The salad plus a bottle of Perrier was $ 15.) I can’t believe it took me so long to stop in here, but I’ll stop in again when I’m at this end of Chestnut looking for grub and maybe try out one of the heartier dishes,

We were going to try Los Hermanos but they were closed — which restaurant close on SUNDAY?!? Anyway, on our way out of Chestnut to find another taqueria — I saw Marina & Kebab and suggested to hubby maybe we can have a gyro instead. A good gyro can be so satisfying and we were looking forward to something yummy… unfortunately, that’s not to be. I ordered the beef/lamb gyro — $ 7.35. When I picked up the order, I already got a feeling that it will not be that good. It was long and narrow, like a slim version of a burrito wrapped in foil paper. Tearing open the foil, the first bite of nothing but bread and it was a little hard and not even warm. Took a couple bites to get to the meat and it was dry and not very flavorful. Took yet another few bites to get to the lettuce, tomato and some of the yogurt sauce. Skip.

This is the 2nd time here and tried the Lamb & Beef Gyro. The problem is that there is not enough meat and secondly it has no flavor at all. For $ 8 it makes me feel ripped off, cause that gyro couldn’t have had more than a $ 1 food cost. Your food cost should be closer to 30% so if your going to give such small portions your eventually going out of business. It’s a cute little restaurant and you make a good effort to be friendly and the décor is good, but if the food is skimpy you ain’t got a chance in the competitive food business.

Is this the best kebab shop in the world? Probably not. Is it the best fast food/take out place in the Marina? You’re damn right it is. Food is consistently fresh and tasty and the staff are pretty cool. For you haterz out there, just remember the abomination called Pita Pit that used to inhabit this space.

I was pretty disappointed with this place: T I’ve passed by numerous times and I’ve always said that I’d try it one day! Maybe I just got the wrong thing or it was almost closing time, so that made the food and service meh? My friend and I both got the lamb/beef gyro and it was OK. I’ve definitely had better. There didn’t seem to be much meat, lettuce, or tomato and the tzatziki sauce was seriously lacking. Overall, pretty dry. The meat(or what I had of it) was tasty, so I’m thinking if there was more of it, the gyro would’ve been a lot better. Also, this place is VERY overpriced. Just for our 2 gyros, the total was over $ 16! Maybe it’s because it’s located in the Marina… I’d be willing to try some of their special platters because they looked good… maybe those will fare better.

Not bad for a quick lunch. Chicken Gyro Wrap was flavorful, but a little dry here and there. Snagged some of the bf’s yogurt sauce and mixed it with the hot sauce at the table… perfect addition. Bf got the Lamb & Beef Gyro Platter and the meat was nicely seasoned, but again, a smidge dry. Nothing a little yogurt sauce/hot sauce mix can’t fix! I’d definitely pop in again next time I’m strolling through the Marina… there were a few other items on the menu that sounded tasty(the Adana kebab and the Kofta Wrap).

at random we were hungry and wanted food fast. mediterranian seemed doable so in we went, expecting some average food. what we got was a pleasant surprise. i got the lamb and beef gyro plate with rice pilaf, pita bread and salad. there was nothing on that plate that was less than pefect. the meat was seasoned well and had a slight crunch to it. do you know what i mean? not hard or overcooked. just a nice crunch like the crust of a prime rib or the edge of a steak, y’know? the salad was dressed perfectly and was so refreshing. and the rice was the perfect pillowy texture. i’m so glad we stumbled upon this place. plus, the woman at the cash register was really friendly and personable. i can be a bit awkward and often times people think i’m initially unapproachable. somehow this woman is the complete opposite and made me feel like she was a friendly neighbor i’d known for years.

Marina & Kebab may sound like a long-haired, love-beaded folk duo from the ’60’s singing protest songs about Vietnam and the downside of giving off bad vibes. But it’s actually a Mediterranean fast-food closet on Chestnut sitting amid the trendy likes of A16 and Mamacita. It’s easy to overlook on such a restaurant-heavy street, but it makes for a worthwhile stop for a relative bargain in this pricey ‘hood. It appears to be family-run with a boisterous owner running the shop. Customer traffic was light with only a couple of girls nobbling their pita chips and hummus in the corner table. Jamie W. and I came here after being overwhelmed by the Calcutta-level crowds at the food cart congregation in Fort Mason. A quiet meal at Marina & Kebab seemed to fit the bill. I went for the $ 10.95 triple-combination plate of marinated Beef, Lamb and Chicken Gyros(see photo). It came with their house salad, a hefty timbale of rice, a bowl of yogurt sauce, and a pile of warmed pita quarter slices. Jamie had the same thing minus the chicken(see photo). I have to admit he liked it a bit more than I did. I found the meat, probably on the spit for a while, a tad dry. It was still savory but not quite as drippy-good as I was hoping for. Even though neither of us could finish our generously portioned plates, we had no problem finishing off the $ 3.50 plate of French fries(see photo). As were eating, the place started to fill up fast. Jamie and I think we are the culinary trendsetters, and everyone just follows us. We also think Naomi Campbell is a nice person who doesn’t know what blood diamonds are. FOOD — 3 stars… hefty portions, the gyros meat could be a bit more moist AMBIANCE — 3 stars… a walk-in closet SERVICE — 4 stars… very friendly TOTAL — 3 stars… you can afford to eat in the Marina! Ooompah!

I came in for a quick kebab to-go on Saturday evening while my friends grabbed frozen yogurt diagonally across the street… I debated between the chicken, falafel, and special veggie wrap and chose the veggie in the end for $ 5.95. Ruggles and I waited outside for about 10 minutes while my wrap was prepared and wrapped in foil… I then tried to eat the wrap while walking a party. The veggies were really yummy and the thin yogurty sauce was pretty satisfying too. However, it was MESSY. At one point, I stopped walking and looked down and realized I had spots of white yogurty sauce all down my jeans! I used the napkins provided to somewhat wipe down my jeans and then put the foil-wrapped meal into the paper bag for«extra protection.» About two blocks later the white sauce was dripping through the bag though. So, in conclusion, the wrap was good but not an ideal«on-the-road» meal… unless you don’t white sauce all over your jeans ;)

I like this place-it really is similar to what I used to eat in Iraq. While we were waiting in line and deciding what to order it turns out the owner is from Turkey-which is where our kebab vendor was from in Iraq-same city and everything! So, I suppose that makes me a little biased because of my sentimentality. However, after being extremely famished and with my Adana kebab in hand I have to say it was delicious, sentimentality aside. The beef was slightly spiced which I liked I thought it was a good balance. The woman at the counter was really nice-my friend was a little unsure as to what to get but she was helpful with helping him make his choice. The place was a little cramped but the space can’t be helped especially with the huge grill they have.

I came here for lunch after meeting with a client in the Marina. This spot used to be the Pita Pit. I only ate at the Pita Pit once and wasn’t too pleased with the food and the service. Therefore I’m so happy that the Pita Pit is gone. In comes a new spot called the Marina & Kebabs, which serves your authentic and popular Mediterranean dishes and wraps. Speaking of wraps, I’ve been here twice in its short history. And the restaurant serves two kind of Gyros: Chicken and«Beef/Lamb» combo. Not a bad price for $ 8.00, the Burrito-size gyros comes with those meat options, chopped lettuce, tomato bits, grilled-onions and a tangy and savory yogurt-sauce(whatever that Mediterranean sauce is called) blanketed and wrapped in a Lavash Sheet. The meat was flavorful and charred very nicely. And the filling was very satifsying. Both Gyros are delicious, but the Lamb/Beef Gyro is the best one Paid my meal in cash, also they accept credit cards. Pita Pit’s staff were young and immature. But this new place’s staff were very friendly and showed high spirits. Yes, Marina’s parking is a nightmare too… if you didn’t know!

Those close to me know about my late night booty calls with Pita Pit. needless to say, when Pita Pit closed, it left a hole in my heart. and inmy stomach. I had only hoped that whatever was to open in its place, would fill my late night snacking needs and help me prevent hang overs… When Marina & Kebob opened. I had to check it out. Last night bff and I stepped in after a grueling work out. We were both famished. Between the two of us we shared a Falafel plate and a combo platter with 4 meats. The falafels were super fresh and the hummus was delicious. The meat platter was also very good. We tried the lemon beef, the lamb, grilled chicken and carved chicken. The verdict? Well. let’s just say we completely cleaned our plates. With this place being open late on weekends, I can see myself making my pit stops for their wraps… and Pita Pit is merely a distant memory…
