The food was amazing and it is so hard to choose because everything sounds so good. There were four of us and we all loved what we got. I would go back. The only problem is the service. Very slow. If you go don’t expect great service just great food.

Tasty food. My guest got a nice hot meal. As for me. My dish cold from the start. I just didn’t enjoy it very much. Maybe mine was sitting out while the other one was being made. For $ 14 I wish I was atleast warm…

The sun was shining! The birds were chirping! And my stomach was rumbling as usual. A hungry me zeroed in on this bright spot on California St. A friend was already seated at a table outside with the sun-shade umbrella positioned to save our eyes. Our server was a happy, smiley person(I usually get their name but me and my friend was too chatty that day and I forgot to ask). After grave deliberation and much back and forth, we settled on an iced, regular & tropical blend unsweetened tea(I am supposed to be on a diet), the open smoked salmon sandwich and an Italian Panini. The service was quick and the food was tasty, which satiated my rumbling tummy. The salmon sandwich was the bomb! Cucumbers, cream cheese and a generous serving of salmon was just what I was expecting. My friend was happy with her panini as well and I could see that it was pretty well stuffed. Billing was a breeze, literally! Because we were sitting out in the open our bill was blown around with me awkwardly running/hopping/skipping to fetch it. No complaints as I am looking to stay fit: P All in all I would surely go back there for lunch/brunch/dinner. PS. I’ve heard they have jazz music playing on weekends or nights, and I’m sure that will go great with my smoked salmon sandwich ;)

What a great find! I love the Live Jazz music on Friday nights and the service has always been excellent. We’ve had several meals here and have yet to be disappointed. All have been dinners so I have no idea how their lunch or sandwich offerings are, but their salads and pasta dishes are de-lish. The spicy red sauce is very spicy, which I love but I wanted to toss that out there in case you don’t like it when they bring the heat. The décor looks a bit odd at first, but the live music makes it feel more cozy – you just have to try a Friday dinner. They really seem to care about their food and the flavors are great. We will continue to make this one of our favorite stops in Pac Heights.

This review is LONG overdue. I moved from SF to SD a while ago and I absolutely craaaaaave Food Inc all the time. The food is amazing! From the pasta to the sandwiches, feels just like your mom made it all with love. Small intimate dining with great locals around that have been coming for years, and for good reason! Winifred, the owner has a wonderful heart and genuinely cares about her restaurant. Bravo! My absolute favorites: Spaghetti, Eggplant Sandwich, Wild Mushroom Ravioli w/white sauce, Niçoise salad or sandwich(omg so good), Moussaka, I can go forever. Boyfriend literally requested to eat here every night… Oh! Also, live jazz on Friday nights. Great date idea! Since I am no longer able to eat their food, please eat for me! Yummmmyy

Tasty menu selections but the dozens of fruit flies seem too domesticated and well fed.

Wandered into this place looking for a bite… we left 100% satisfied and somewhat surprised. The food was excellent! My husband ordered the turkey club, which is definitely the best club I’ve ever had, and most possibly the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I ordered the cheese plate, which came with actually too much cheese and a heaping pile of fruit and nuts. For $ 10. It’s next to impossible to find food this good anywhere at these prices… we would have been content to pay more, actually, since it’s the good food we’re after. The ambiance leaves a little something to be desired… they’re doing table service, but it feels more like an order-at-the-counter vibe. The service was good, too. They’re not messing around at this place; I can’t wait to go back!

Yum! Stopped here after a long workday for a salad. The warm chevre salad was delicious and filling. I loved the atmosphere — very french bistro! It was very cozy and comfortable. There were two friends chatting and drinking wine nearby with cheese and a few others dining in alone or in small groups. Felt like a real ‘local’ place.

I live right up the street but have never been in before. The menu is quite small but what they do serve is decent. I ordered a sandwich with couscous and afterwards was still hungry. The portions(for me) were a little on the small size. I wouldn’t say this place is particularly good for parties over 4. The price was on point despite it’s location.

The Neo BLT was a tasty spin on the typical BLT with the sauce and bread. Brie & Prosciutto was a great pairing with the baguette. And, the Tuscan Platter was a great plate mixture to start the meal, really good experience overall and a very reasonable price for the meal.

This place is solid for a quick bite to go. We don’t really have anything like this in the neighborhood. Most places you gotta order and wait, but this place has a few ready made stuff that’s pretty good so it’s a great place to pop in on the go. If you want to stay and work they also have some tables and chairs, and like everywhere else in this neighborhood, a few hottie regulars!

Food might be good but I wouldn’t know because after 15 minutes waiting, the staff had still not acknowledged me. Not even a ‘thanks for waiting we’ll be with you as soon as we can’. I inquired at the counter if there was a manager present I could speak with. The guy at the counter wouldn’t give me an answer. So either they have no manager or he was covering his ass, because you wants to sent a complaint to their manager. In either case, the poor service is inexcusable. I won’t be back. There are plenty of other places for lunch at 1:45 on a monday.

I’m not a fan of their salads I think they taste really bitter. But their BLT is by far the best I’ve ever had! Make sure you ad Avocado of that’s your thing. I’m usually in and out just picking up food for lunch.

3.5 just alright. Strolled in on a Saturday around 1p because I needed to use my livingsocial voucher before it expired. There were seats available(ps you can also make reservations online). They had a pretty large menu of salads, sandwiches and pastas. I ordered the beef ravioli. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. Our deal came with bottomless mimosas. I was not a fan of the pulp in the drinks. Service was slow in refilling our glasses.

Awesome food. I live about 4 or 5 spaces down, and come here at least twice a week for the incredible sandwiches and wonderful staff :) The Neo BLT and the Club are my favs. I have heard the others are awesome — but I haven’t needed to try them yet. Maybe one day.

First of all, my water glass had, straight up, a lipstick stain. It was pink, and so defined I can see the creases of the lips. On the positive side, the BLT was pretty good. It was by far the smallest and most expensive BLT I have ever had, but it was pretty good. Service was pretty good too.

Food Inc is a cozy little spot in Pacific Heights just a few blocks from the UCSF Mount Zion campus. I stopped by for lunch on a Thursday with a couple of friends. It was just after noon and the place was only about a quarter full. We were promptly seated and brought water. The service was good. The waitress was polite and kept the water glasses filled. I ordered the club sandwich: Smoked turkey, bacon, fontina cheese, tomatoes & baby greens layered on three slices of toasted focaccio with mayonnaise. I really enjoyed this sandwich. The bacon was crispy, the smoked turkey fresh and moist. The greens included peppery arugula and the toasted focaccia perfectly toasted. My dining companions enjoyed their sandwiches as well. They got a smoked turkey and a salami sandwich. The prices are reasonable(approximately $ 7 – 8 for a pretty solid sandwich). Unfortunately the sandwiches do not come with anything(such as a side salad or chips). Overall I give this place 3.5÷5 stars. I would go back if craving a sandwich and I happened to be in the area.

After roaming the unfamiliar streets in search of breakfast, my friends and I stumbled upon Food Inc. We couldn’t agree on anywhere else so we begrudgingly ended up here, thankfully! My Italian«panini» was, as advertised, not your customary panini. It was a caprese salad on a baguette and it was delicious! The flavors blended perfectly and the baguette was fresh. The other three members of my party had only superlatives for their food as well. The waitstaff allowed for modifications to the orders so that was appreciated. The prices were good and the atmosphere was quaint, some music might enhance the experience, though. This is not fast food so don’t expect your dish to be rolled right out of the kitchen.

My husband and I had no dinner plans on a Friday night so we decided to check out this neighborhood joint. We came in and were seated at a small table immediately. The menu offers a lot of choices with mostly Italian pastas and some French dishes with the random Greek and Moroccan dish thrown in. I ordered moussaka, the husband got the linguine chez food inc and we had a Tuscan platter to share. The Tuscan platter is awesome. It was loaded with lots of nibbles that served as an appetizer and sides. The platter included cured meats, cheese, pickles, olives, marinated tomatoes, small mixed green salad with parmesan flakes, small cold pasta salad and bread. Moussaka is basically a Greek lasagna and it tasted just how it should, cheesy and carby. The husband enjoyed his linguine very much. It included chicken, asparagus, olives and goat cheese in a wine sauce. The sauce was light but very tasty and the flavors complemented each other nicely. The waitress checked in on us often but didn’t feel overbearing. There was a live jazz band playing, so the ambiance was very lively but not too loud that you couldn’t hear each other talk. Our table was a tad small, so I’ll have to keep that in mind if I want to order multiple plates for myself. We were way too full to order dessert but their dessert case looked awesome. They had tons of different choices that all looked home cooked and delicious. The place is a bit small, so I’d make a reservation for a party of more than 4 so I could grab a table against the wall. They also sell some European looking food goods that are on shelves against the back wall. Most places that try do too much at once have a tendency to have lower quality, this place seems to be an exception. Ambiance, service and food are all excellent. I know I’ll be back.
