Pretty good pizza. They have three styles — thin crust, Chicago deep dish, and a thick crust they call Chicago pan pizza. They also have a preformed frozen gluten free crust which we order for my wife as it is the only crust that doesn’t contain dairy.

After my initial poor experience, the owner reached out to me, explained the situation that led to the delay, and made it right. Grinders will definitely be my pizza joint of choice in the Inner Richmond for here on out.

This place has a chill vibe. The customer service is beyond amazing. We ordered a make your own deep dish pizza and it was legit. It’s not as good as little star pizza but not bad for this neighborhood that seems to lack good food. 5 stars for customer service and 4 stars for the food. Definitely recommend and definitely coming back!

This review is for dine in. Walked in with the family and we were immediately seated and provided menus by the gracious host /waitress that was behind the counter errr bar. She gave us a couple of minutes to browse the menu before returning to ask if we would like anything to drink. We placed our drinks and appetizer order and watched a little of the game that was showing on the 3TV’s mounted amongst the walls. Now this is where it felt like we were smack dab in the middle of a segment of the tv show«What Would You Do?» In walks a gentlemen that looked like he has been a little down on his luck and has been not sleeping in a cozy bed in recent times. Most places would have had someone come out from the back of the house and chase this guy out. But not the Princess of Politeness aka our waitress… She struck up a conversation with him and took the time to hear him out and assist him with his order. Fast forward a couple of minutes and out comes our order of giardiniera garlic knots. These things are ridiculously good, freshly baked, soft and packed full of briny pepper flavor. Thinking back makes me slightly turn my head and the drooling sensation begins,(insert any random Marnie the dog pic here… Look her up!) Yes, they are that good! Now back to the show… The gentlemen I wrote about before continued to chat with the waitress getting a little overly loud a couple times but not too bad. In comes an elderly couple, one with a wheelchair and the other slowly walking in behind. And as you would expect our superhero springs in to action leading the couple to a table and removing the chair so the disabled patron could pull right up to the table. Another one of those moments where I feel like a person that doesn’t like their job may not have even realized that the couple may need a little extra help getting situated. This is where John Quiñones usually steps in and saves the day… John was no where to be found but this will suffice: THEPIZZAISHERE!!! OMG! We ordered a Chicago style pan pizza since it seems like every other pizza place is serving a version of Chi-town deep dish pie. It was topped with sausage, fresh black olives and tons of pepperoni. This thing was crackin’! The flavors were on point and the crust to sauce ratio was perfect. I devoured a slice and felt full almost instantaneous. You must try this place! All an all, this was a great visit and I will definitely be back, the food was great and the service was more than you could ask for! Kudos to all involved in making this a memorable experience. I will be back for a grinder and a pie sooner than later. That’s for sure!

This was our first visit to Grinders, and it definitely won’t be our last! We ordered the supreme pizza, which has the best crust and just the right amount of great tasting sauce – both things we look for in a pizza! The topping were delicious as well, and I liked that the onions were thinly sliced. We ordered a medium pizza and had a cheese garlic bread appetizer… an incredible amount of food that required a to go box. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and it was a great night to sit outside. What a great comfort food pizza night! I must add that the service was friendly, accommodating, and impeccable – no attitude here! A+ Grinders!

Best pizza I’ve ever had delivered. Timely delivery for a Saturday night too. This will be our regular pizza spot now!

I’ve been to Grinders a few times since I live relatively nearby and everytime I go, always an issue. If it’s not for the burnt pizza or the missed order; there’s always something wrong. Owner is never there so I assume he just gave up and so did his employees. If the owner doesn’t care, why should his employees? I mean check out the other reviews, it’s just not a one time mistake. Everyone is complaining about the same thing. Since the owner could careless and fix the issues, why support this place? I’m updating my review and bumping up the stars since the owner replied back to my review. I know how hard it is to run a small biz and I don’t wanna be that person to leave a negative review on a neighborhood spot. I have not gone back to Grinders to see if they are any quicker, more responsive or if the pizza taste any better. Hey Joe, I read your reviews on your Unilocal page. Why don’t you support smaller restaurants versus reviewing big box retailers or high end places?

The pizza here isn’t bad, although how can you mess pizza up. However, the wings I ordered were burnt, it even smells burnt. So sad because I had high hopes for the wings.

I like the pizza! We have only had delivery but it’s really good. I guess it’s misleading as its called«Chicago» pizza. It’s not traditional Chicago pizza, but if you just don’t pay attention to semantics, it’s a good, unique pie. Fresh ingredients and always satisfying.

Dude, the deep dish pizza is bananas! The small is enough for two people. The cheesy bread is great also. The staff is super friendly and the place is really clean as well.

If you were thinking of doing delivery, just don’t. It took 2 hours. I got a text one hour in saying it was on its way… apparently the 4 minute, 12 block drive takes an hour? It’s raining, you’re busy, I get it. But if that is the case you probably shouldn’t use a delivery site that advertises a 45 min delivery and you definitely shouldn’t send premature text messages saying it’s almost there. By some miracle the pizza still arrived hot and was actually pretty tasty… or at least on par with the other local options(hence the stars). It came loaded with bacon though which wasn’t in the description and while I am personally not offended by the addition it just seems like it’d be better to stick to what people order.

If you like, weird combinations of toppings this is your place. They have a few seats at the bar and only 4 tables inside, so I feel like most people get their pizza to go. We got the cheeseburger pizza and the bbq chicken pizza, both really good but overloaded with bacon to the point where that’s all you really tasted. I love bacon as much as the next… but it’s WAY over board. The pizza’s cut into squares(my favvvv) and the crust was light and crunchy. TIP: they don’t put tomato sauce on your pizza unless you ask… which throws me off, but surprisingly it works and I didn’t miss it at all.

I ordered the Geno deepdish today and was thoroughly disappointed. But before I get into that, let me speak to the service. I ordered a pizza at 3pm. I was told 45 minutes would be the approximate time of its arrival. At 5pm, I get a call saying they hadn’t even started making the pizza. Whoever was calling me asked me if I’d like to cancel. I said I wouldn’t since it would be even longer if I had to call another pizzeria and place an order. I asked if they could reduce the bill or give me some of my money back. They said the best they could do was give me 25% off my next order. The pizza arrived 2 hours and 45 minutes after my initial call. That’s almost three hours. The order that arrived was incorrect. And the pizza itself wasn’t fully cooked. I’m guessing they were trying to rush the order so fast based on their original mistake. The pizza was swimming with sauce and lukewarm in the middle. Everything tastes store bought from the pepperoni to the ingredients which will slide off easily. We ate two slices and threw the rest of it away. We won’t be eating from here again. Word of advice to the owners: if you make a mistake, you own it by giving an immediate discount or you give it for free. You don’t attempt to secure future business first with a promise. Word of advice to any customers: Even if they get the pie to you in a reasonable time, its subpar pizza. Go somewhere else.

Spectacular. I imagine it’s a bit salty for some, but the pizza here is very, very good. Choice meats, well thought-out crust. High fives all around.

Clean clean clean, so clean in here… So worth the wait. Do like cheese! Do you love great cheese? How about pizza? Then look no further. We ordered up the wings, cheesy bread and a pepperoni pizza with pizza sauce. The price is reasonable for the quality yummies you get. Here, shut-up and take my money! We will return for the dine in experience.

First time visiting Grinder Pizzeria, not a big fan of pizza but after this visit. I become a fans of this pizza place ! Every staff in there were nice and friendly, they ask in detail what do you want in the pizza. Got the cesar club thin crust pizza, the cesar dressing is absolutely amazing, blend well with the pizza and I can tell that it is freshly made! Another large pizza I got is the veggie pizza, comes with spinach, mushrooms, onions and black olives. I requested light amount of onions and black olives and replace them with more spinach. Another well blended pizza you can ever get ! Will definitely come back again.

We ordered the veggie pizza. The mushrooms tasted like they came out of a can, but otherwise and it was utterly and completely tasteless. And it was cut into squares instead of slices. Who does that? I realize that I’m hard-pressed to find decent pizza in California, but this place tasted and looked like what I’d find in a Chuck-E-Cheese. Yuck. Never again.

I’m always on the hunt for the best pizza that’ll deliver to me. Grinder’s, while they had delicious toppings, stumbled hard on the construction of their pizza. Ordered: medium thin crust pizza, half cheese and half pepperoni/pineapple. Toppings were very good, cheese melty and stringy and awesome. The crust edges were good, but the major construction issues were that the bottom crust was so thin that it couldn’t hold all of the toppings and was mushy. They also cut the round pizza into odd squares. This does not help the mushy crust/can’t hold the toppings issue. The middle pieces felt like I was eating gobs of cheese and toppings because the crust had disintegrated into nothing. Not my favorite, but worth a shot.

Very good pizza at a reasonable price. They have a wide variety of non-pizza items as well. My daughter and I had a deep-dish pepperoni for lunch, and both of us were very satisfied. I’d prefer this to other deep dishes I’ve had, namely Patxi’s, but both are good. I’ll return to Grinder’s for sure.

Wanted pizza and decided to try a new place. The roommate and I ordered delivery via Eat24( ) on Sunday, April 26th around 2:30pm. I believe we had a $ 2 off coupon thru eat24. *Hot giardiniera knots(6 pcs) $ 4.99: six twisted breadsticks stuffed with spicy giardiniera peppers and smothered in garlic butter and parmesan I love spicy giardiniera peppers. The knots were soft, but still had a nice chew. Also made well as they basically stuffed the bread and twisted it. Every bite had some peppers. Came with marinara sauce. *Buffalo wings($ 10.99): one dozen crispy wings with ranch Crispy and moist. Pretty good wings for pizza delivery. *Wedge salad($ 8.99): romaine hearts, thick cut bacon, grape tomatoes and ranch dressing Lots of bacon! I did wish it was crisper as the bacon was a little limp. The salad was crisp and fresh. *Bacon cheeseburger California thin crust pizza($ 18.99 for 12″ medium): ketchup and mustard mix, pickles, extra ground beef, onions, bacon, cheddar, sesame seeds The roommate picked this one. Though the pizza had a nice cheeseburger flavor, it was very dry. Since it didn’t really have a sauce, the crust was in need of moisture. We had to dip this in the ranch and marinara provided by the apps we ordered. *Muffaletta California thin crust pizza($ 15.99 for 10″ small): garlic butter, extra cheese, hot giardiniera, genoa salami, smoked ham, grape tomatoes I love garlic butter and hot giardiniera which was the reason I picked this one. The pizza however is super oily. I took the toppings off a piece of pizza and butter just gushed out of the slice. I wish the crust absorbed the butter better. Inventive pizzas, but I’m not sure they are really up my alley. I love sauce and both of the pizzas we ordered were more or less sauceless. I guess I would think of their pizza more like a flatbread than anything else. Solid apps though. I really enjoyed those.
