I’ve lived in Glen Park for three years now. I love Glen Park Station. I avoid busy times if I can help it. Sometimes I’ll come by rarely with some of my motorcycle buds or even more rarely with a girl buddy or two. But most of my girlfriends want to go to the lounges in the city or east bay where the ‘cute boys’ are… whatever that means. I usually have to get all gussied up and go with them to their bars of choice in the city which is truly a chore for my inherent, easy going spirit. Most of the time I want a beer or whiskey and be able to sit at the bar and drink it without too much talking. This is not possible with most of my gal pals. unless we have some specific things in common then you can’t shut me up. Overall, I can drink in peace at Glen Park station without being bugged which is divine. I also love the bartenders who are down-to-earth. You won’t know that right off the bat with a few of them because they won’t kiss your ass but I love earning getting to know someone. That’s just me. If they only had a pool table.

Friendly crew behind the bar although a bit hard to get their attention. Didn’t have what I first wanted but I’m flexible. Other people’s leftover drinks and food lingers around for a while. Halfway done with my beer and I see a little brown furry nugget floating around. I just sat my beer down and left.(paid first of course). Hmmm maybe that explains the leftover food and drinks.

I walked in for the first time after visiting Mt. Davidson. I ordered a beer and everything was fine. Then, I put one David Bowie song in the Jukebox. The bartender(bald guy in a black tie, dress shirt and jeans) didn’t like it and turned it off after 1 minute. So I lost a dollar to this trash hole, even though an older gentleman told him not to because someone paid for it. I finished my beer and walked out. Definitely will tell friends to avoid.

After a long day at work, it is so nice to emerge from the BART and see the Glen Park Station. The dark wood and(if it ever gets cold and rainy again) a fire in the fireplace. Perfect spot to unwind, watch whatever game is on, friendly conversation with whomever has belly upped to the bar while getting that much deserved buzz– on from the potent potables… Missing a star due to the bar munchies being meh, but plenty of other places for that.

Great place for a drink! Love the prices and the atmosphere AND the XLTV. Which has a very clear picture to watch the Giants, Niners, W’s. They do have snacks from time to time. Hot Dogs, Popcorn, etc Very friendly bartenders. And they’ll let you bring in outside food to munch down. See you there!

This bar is one of a kind. It’s in a prefect location close to Tyger for a BLT(perfect!) and Bird and Beckett books, which is the best bookstore in the area. This bar is a great place to watch a baseball game(free hot dogs when the Giants are playing!) and the bar tenders like Mike and Richard are incredible. The place is equipped with 1930’s registers and has an amazing atmosphere. Mike makes the best martini.

This is definitely a place where you get what you give. There is a strict«no nonsense» policy. I’ve seen the bartenders have to deal with some… let’s say«characters»(to put it politely). Always entertaining! Christian is the best. He quietly keeps a watchful eye on creepers trying to chat me up. I’ve seen him call cabs for lost souls at the end of a long night. The bar itself could use some upgrading– that carpet, ugh. Nonetheless, I love GPS because it’s a classic dive bar in a city where such establishments are slowly biting the dust.

GPS is the epitome of a great neighborhood bar — stiff but inexpensive drinks, lots of regulars and no-nonsense, great bartenders. Kevin and Christian remember everyone’s name and your favorite drink. That kind of service makes you feel like you are home. Some important tips for your visit to GPS: — Don’t get stupid in the bar, because the bartenders will kick you out. That’s why I always feel safe and have no concerns about going to GPS by myself. That’s also likely the reason for a few of the«grumpy bartender» reviews on here. — Don’t talk about your stupid tech job because nobody cares and the bartenders will ignore you. I have a tech job but people go to GPS to get away from that world — don’t bring it with you. — Cash only which is another sign of a great neighborhood bar. — Excellent place to watch Giant’s baseball. And if you are lucky, Christian will share some of his incredible knowledge of the game.

Hands down the best Bloody Mary’s in the city!!! No Bloody Mary mix here all made from scratch. I would have given this place a 5 star just for their Bloody Mary’s… However, a couple of the bartenders here lack personality and social skills. Richard is one of bartenders that makes you want to come back and makes you feel welcome. I’ve encountered a couple of bartenders that have been rude to me for asking them to make a Bloody Mary in the evening. And refused to make it. I didn’t know making Bloody Mary’s had a cut off time! I Also like that this bar offers you a snack mix and wifi free of charge. The only thing this bar needs is more sociable bartenders like Richard.

I haven’t been to a bar in a very long time. At first, we went to Pissed off Pete, but I didn’t feel comfortable there. We decided to try this place instead, which was only a few blocks away from my house. It’s a small place but it gave me a better feeling. We sat down at the bar and waited until the bartender came. I don’t know his name, it was a Friday night. Maybe he’s just stressed or something, he didn’t show we were welcome at all. He should work for Pissed off Pete instead, cause his face was telling me he was pissed off! lol! Any way, my friend got a beer, I got two drinks. Later on, another friend joined us too. We had a wonderful time, regardless the bartender’s attitude, I’m still satisfied with this place. The drinks were about $ 7 – 8 each. Not bad.

Some dear friends of mine lived up the street and we used to come here all the time. I have many happy memories here(Halloween, New Years, just an average night catching up… it’s a perfect neighborhood bar). I have maintained, and will always maintain, that Christian is the best bartender in San Francisco. Live music here on weekends; we even saw Tim Flannery perform here one night. Even though my friends moved from Glen Park we still stop in from time to time.

I came here on a random Saturday night looking to satisfy that whiskey drank craving I’ve been having lately. I walked in expecting a maximum of 2 people inside, but was pleasantly surprised to find a decent crowd. The word divey doesn’t quite do this place justice. Divey it is, but between the odd musky, dark feel inside, the random old-school arcade games, and the old man in the back watching baseball and eating a churro, I would have to say eclectic is a closer word. Strange it is, but the drinks here are stiff, the bartender is fantastic, and the darts are free. What’s not to love? Don’t ask for a drink menu at the bar though, they don’t have one, and asking for one here will make you feel a little to bourgeois for comfort.

I have lived in the Glen Park neighbor hood for 7 years. this is the 2nd time I have visited this bar — first time was extremely rude… after 5 years tried again same service — the bar is local friendly(if you have been local for 30 years or more). A local abused my husband because he moved his chair and his is leg(his broken leg was under husband’s chair). We order our drinks, bar tender seemed a bit clueless and then husband got up and hit broken leg man again because broken leg man’s leg was still under his chair and the guy got very irate. I said something to broken leg mam and clueless bartender took my half filled drink away from me and told me that I knocked it over!!! I argued with him but to no avail and left! Twice bitten! Never again!!!

This is a true dive, tended by old, grumpy Irishmen. Not exactly first date material but if you knew me you’d know how perfect this choice was.

What a strange and wonderful little place. I’m new to the neighborhood and was asked out to drinks by a gentleman caller and he suggested Glen Park Station on a Sunday night. On my way there, I got a text message saying, «There is live music here tonight…» I get there and there is a freakin’ string quartet playing. I’m still not sure whether it’s awesome or weird. I think awesome.

I was just thinking how I need to get back to this place. It’s a little out of the way from where many of my friends hang out, but as the name suggests, it’s right next to BART. The one time I’ve been was actually during the day and I rode my bike over some serious hills to meet some friends who had just hiked the nearby canyon and had earned their beers. I walked in without cash and told the bartender(possibly the owner) I needed to find an ATM. He told me not to worry about it and finish a beer first, which made me feel like a total regular there. People say(I actually have no idea who these people are) it’s the little things and I’d have to agree with them. Anyways, the service continued to be stellar there and if you like a good neighborhood bar, this is a great one.

Ahhh, GPS. What’s not to love? You’re always open. Your bartender is a doll. You have a back patio. You let us bring our bikes inside when we don’t have locks with us. You have Guinness on draft. You are always warm. You never smell bad. I can always find a seat. You are a 2 minute walk from my house. I love you.

My local dive bar, even though I no longer live in Glen Park. I’ve been coming here for four years now, and it’s always been basically the same, aside from the evil new-ish jukebox that randomly throws tantrums. It was seriously a bit jarring for me when they put in a new carpet last year. The drinks are cheap and strong, and there’s always something tasty on tap. Tom is my favorite bartender, and he’ll hate me for telling you all, but he makes the best bloody marys ever on Sundays. They also have a lot of great performers come in for live music nights. The clientele is mostly older people who live in the neighborhood, along with people who work in Glen Park Village, as well as my friends and I, who are the ones playing weird things on the jukebox(when the damn thing is actually working). It’s a place where I can come in and get a drink alone without random bros trying to talk to me, or sit in the back and eat pizza with friends while watching Giants games or throwing darts. All in all, an awesome comfy dive bar.

I’ve been back here many times since my last review, and aside from it being the unofficial waiting room for Gialina’s, it’s a great bar all on it’s own. It’s everything a neighborhood bar should be. The bartenders are always pleasant, and they make a good drink quickly, and for relatively low prices. The patrons are are friendly, and every time I’m here i end up having a good conversation with someone. I was also seriously impressed that the ladies bathroom was so clean, especially on a Saturday night. This bar is always the right amount of busy, lively, but you can still have a conversation and find a seat.
