I think this place seemed to mostly serve only one thing, those sandwiches with the sauerkraut and French fries and it was very good. I had mine with an egg. Tangy with the cabbage and the bread on the outside was very soft! Maybe a little expensive but what can you expect it is San Francisco.

First time visiting San Francisco and my son wanted a cheese burger. I pulled up Unilocal as we were in china town and this place came up. The pictures looked amazing so we decided we were going to try it. We came in to what was similar to a small pub in LA. I asked if they had a cheese burger and to my surprise they said no. I asked my son if he wanted a cheese sandwich he said ok and loved it. I had the pastrami with French fries in the sandwich and my girl had the buffalo wings both were satisfying. The service was great they were very friendly and I felt welcomed. Great food plus great service always equals a great experience. I will definitely be back the next time we come and visit SF.

First of all, the menu on their site is outdated. This is not a cheap sandwich stop. The wait(not the line) for my sandwich was really long. There was no one else getting to go and it’s not like the place was packed, but I had to sit there and wait a good 1015 minutes for my sandwich. The food itself actually pretty good. I got the pastrami sandwich and the fries took me by surprise. It is a bit unhealthy but it added a really nice crunch to the texture. Anyway, the sandwich as a whole was a pretty good eat, though not worth $ 9 imo.

Of all the Pittsburg-style sandwiches I’ve had in the bay area, Giorgano Bros is several notches above the rest. Other places skimp on the fillings or give you a flimsy sandwich due to thinly sliced italian bread. Heck, I’ve seen some places use sourdough! Here, they won’t pull that crap. They won’t try to be cute. They use thick sliced of italian bread and pile the meat, fries, and slaw high. So far, I’ve had the steak and theft capital with a fried egg. Both were pretty solid abut I like the spice from the capital more. I appreciate tang from the vinegar-based slaw and the egg is a nice touch. Unfortunately this isn’t a sandwich you should take your time with. The bread tends to get super soggy towards the end. Still, I’m definitely a fan of this place and I may stop by if I’m ever back home in the bay.

I do not like coleslaw. but this I do like! I got the coppa sandwich with double meat and fried egg to share. Definitely a decent portion(cheap too!) and enough to be filling for a dinner if you aren’t famished. Meat quality wasn’t top tier but good enough for a sandwich. Fries? Why not? The ratio of everything was great. Dare I say, I almost — just almost — wished that there was slightly more slaw in it. Serve with some Crystal’s hot sauce and you are set for an amazing time in your mouth. We also ordered a cookie. It was a weird mixture of chocolate chip, peanut butter, and possibly Rice Krispies. It was okay — I would just stick to the sandwiches. I’ll definitely be back to try the capicola and wings! Yum!

I went there on the suggestion of some co-workers, and had my doubts walking in. Fries on a sandwich? The whole concept was strange. Then once we got there, I was challenged to pile on the coppa and egg as well? Challenge accepted. So I ordered the streak, coppa, and egg sandwich with a pint of Heffeweisen. Delicious. Little bit messy, and definitely not an «everyday» type of meal, but clearly a sandwich that everyone should experience.(Seems like it would make a killer handover cure too). And the venue(the old Ti Couz crepery spot) has been nicely set up with a sports bar vibe. A perfect combination, and wonderful for a nice day out in the Mission. Definitely recommended.

TLDR: Lots of beers on tap and amazing wings. I came here with my coworkers for happy hour after work on Friday and the place was pretty empty. Not a bad thing at all! There’s nothing that I hate more than a crowded bar with terrible service, so it was nice being one of two large parties at Giordano. Beer here is cheaper by the pint vs. by the pitcher when you order during happy hour, with the only exception being the imperial IPA. The wings here are some of the best that I’ve had in the city, and are good enough that I would come back just to get them. If you’re still hungry after a few beers and wings, I would recommend the pastrami sandwich with a fried egg, or an order of the fried pickles.

Food = great! Always a pleasure. Best onion rings, EVER. There’s something so wonderful about that perfect crunchy, soft onion(not mushy) dipped in your condiment of choice. Sandwiches, they never fail me. Perfect fries, creamy coleslaw all on top of your choice of meat(I had pastrami this time), and soft bread – and trust me on this, ADDFRIEDEGG(it’s over easy/medium). There are other add-ons available, too. Good portions: There were four of us, and we shared two sandwiches, one large order of onion rings, and enjoyed some beer. Plenty on draft. Service = friendly. Customer service is excellent. Rob is nice. Prices = reasonable. TV = local games but if there’s anything with Pittsburgh, it’ll be on!

This was a sandwich experience. I don’t know much about religious experiences, but when it comes to food, I’m very aware of an oral epiphany as horrible as that sounds. I’ve been living in San Francisco for years and never been to Giordano Bros. I know, I know. A buddy of mine came over to my spot in North Beach and was looking for a hot sandwich, so this was the first place that came to mind. We got there somewhat late around 8:30 but it was still lively so we popped in. Let me say first and foremost that the service was fantastic. Those dudes are friendly, and calmed my anxieties when I found our they were out of pastrami. I ended up ordering the hot capicola with an egg on top. Honestly, it’s an explosion of flavor but it’s not overwhelming. There’s not too much going on for your taste buds, but just enough. From the fresh, spongy sourdough to the crisp lettuce and spicy ham. Amazing how they impregnate the sandwich with french fries. Thank jeebus I’m a short walk away. Will be back soon. …like today.

These sandwiches are delicious. Better than they look and much better than they sound. Just the right amount of greasy meat mixed with soft fluffy bread and tangy slaw. The prices are very reasonable and the service was friendly. When bringing the food out they brought a few sandwiches that weren’t ours. They looked good enough that it was tempting to just say they were indeed ours. Will most definitely be back.

So here’s the deal about this place: the fries come on the sandwich along with a mound of cole slaw between the buns. End result: whether you pick copa, pastrami, or roast beef you will end up with a real gut bomb. I say that in the most loving way possible. The place is a zoo during Steelers games. They don’t take AMEX(for that matter, neither does most of the neighborhood).

Sandwiches here are delicious! I wasn’t really sold at first on the whole french fries on a sandwich deal when I was told about it. But when I tried it for myself, it was utter heaven! The French fries are crispy perfection too . Side note: Definately get a egg in there. You’ll be much happier! And the service is decent. It’s a bar, so don’t throw your expectations way too high.

Giordano Bros, a Pittsburgian sandwich shop run by ex-Pittsburgians. I have no clue if that’s the appropriate terminology to describe the residents of Pittsburg. Perhaps Pittsburgoids? Possibly Pittsburgers? Mmm Pittsburgers… that sounds like it would be the name of a delicious burger. Anyhoo, back on track to this shop’s specialty: sammiches. The venue is a spacious setup with numerous TVs playing sports of some sort. Happy hour takes place Monday through Friday from 3 — 7PM – unsure what happy hour entails. Live music happens Tuesday through Saturday nights. This classic Pittsburg sandwich is a perfect combination of errythang – choice of grilled Italian meats, melted provolone cheese, freshly cut fries, coleslaw, and seasoned oil(?!) – in between two thick, fluffy slices of Italian bread. We ordered both the COPPA(a cured Italian ham similar to prosciutto) at $ 7.25 and the HOTCAPICOLA(a spicy cooked Italian ham rubbed with cayenne pepper and fennel, ) at $ 6.75. Though the capicola has a nice spicy kick to it, my taste buds preferred the familiar flavors of prosciutto. And any sandwich filled with fries and coleslaw will be scrumptious. As others have mentioned, it’s a heavy-looking sandwich that tastes surprisingly light but will do its duty to fill you up. We also got an order of BEER-BATTEREDONIONRINGS, $ 3.50 and $ 4.75 for respective portions( ). The slices were huge and thoroughly battered and fried. Mm mm fat. The Pittsburg sandwich? Pittsbanging. ^ that came out weird.

This place isn’t for me… Not a fan of the sandwiches with french fries. The waiter was extremely pushy. «Not trying to rush you guys, but here’s the bill» or «We closed the gate so others won’t come in, but not trying to rush you guys» it was basically $ 40 for two sandwiches and 2 glasses of wine. I had the turkey and he had the salami.

As a Pittsburgh native, I’m sort of pissy about Pittsburgh style food. Just putting fries on it does not make it Pittsburghian. That’s like eating salt and vinegar chips without the vinegar. There is an essence to our cuisine that is not suitable for finer palates. I love that about Pittsburgh. Giordano’s is modeled after Primanti Bros.– or is it vice versa as GB claims it’s been making sandwiches the same way for 70 years? They also request that you don’t modify their sandwich because it won’t taste as good sans ingredients. Indeed. Cool beans – I love receiving directives almost as much as I love giving them(sometimes). I stopped in after a serious computer malfunction this past Sunday. For a beer(Scrimshaw). And a sandwich(naturally). And some blitzkrieg(bop). I was so tickled to find kielbasa on their sandwich menu. In Pittsburgh, kielbasa is a food group – as well it should be – delicious and juicy sausage that it is. Of course I ordered it. It came on two pieces of soft Italian bread, with french fries and coleslaw(importantly, not dressed with mayo, but with vinegar). I drank my beer quickly and took that bad boy back to the office, where I promptly inhaled it in under five minutes. The plan was to only eat ½. Whoops. Oh my goodness, how my waistline suffered! But how pleased were my tastebuds? So. Very. It made me miss Pittsburgh with a fierceness. The kielbasa, fries, and coleslaw are a delicious combo already. And that bread? I’d like to take a nap between two slices, please. I love all things Pittsburgh. Thus, Giordano’s made me so happy. Friendly service. Lots of sports. Fries on everything. Under $ 10. How can you go wrong? Black & yellow, black & yellow, black & yellow…
