I was in Finnegan’s killing some time before having breakfast next door at Zazie. The bar is a cool dive. Bartender was great and recommend some good drinks. I had a few Bloody Marys one of the best I ever had. Definitely returning for a Bloody Mary.

Favorite bar in SF. I like to go in there, get juiced up on a few IPA’s, drop a 10 spot in the juke box and then head outside for a smoke. Service is good, patrons are friendly and there is plenty of room to sit down.

divey in the most positive way. Great for grabbing a beer or watching a game if you’re in the neighborhood.

This place is legit. Bartenders are extremely friendly and recommend good drinks. They also have a spot to charge your phone if you’re in trouble. Kinda divey but overall amazing. They have a great outdoor space too!

A solid dive bar with a good energy, whether completely empty or full of people. The bartenders are good, no-bullshit people and I appreciate that. I hope they won’t hate me for telling everyone on Unilocal that they have consistently killer bloody marys(which I usually don’t order out because they can be so hit or miss) with the perfect tasty garnishes. CASHONLY. ATM. TVs for the game. $ 1 pool table inside. Awesome back patio with benches, tables, plenty of sun when it’s out, and even a ping pong table. They also have a BBQ you can rent out to use but not sure of the price. This place makes me happy & I wish I lived even closer!

Went here with a few friends after searching for a bar with an outdoor patio and ping pong table, and we’re so glad we came across this place. The patio has a great vibe and there’s also a pool table inside. Had to explain to the bartender how to make a Moscow mule, but it was pretty good once it came out!

Have been going here long enough that I officially love all of the bartenders, even when they aren’t in the best of moods. One of my favorite local haunts, always playing the best sports, and always making the best bloodys. I love you Finnegans. Love, Morgan

Super chill bar with very chill bartenders. They get 5 stars from me because every time I leave I always want to come back. It is what it seems — drink up!

If it weren’t for the one female bartender with stretched out lobes… this would be a 2 star rating. She really made up for a lot of previous bad experiences… primarily with one of the older male bartenders(thin build, dark hair, maybe glasses). Just one example… begining/middle of the week I stopped in kind of late. Maybe 10 people in the bar. Sat at the end closest to the door. I waited for a bit for him to come over. He took his time but I was kind of used to that kind of service from him and some others. So I greeted him with a smile… but… Apparently it irritates him if you say,” Hi, how are you?”, when he approaches you. He basically ignored me and walked back to the people he wanted to talk to while he made my drink. Didn’t even look at me or say anything when he gave me my change. He was a real dick. AND charged me $ 12 for a long island. That’s just ridiculous to use well liquors and a warm glass and then charge me $ 12. I have ordered them here before and everywhere else I go and have NEVER paid that much. Such a miserable man! I’ll admit… he made a decent long island. But I’ll go elsewhere if possible… I’d rather not pay $ 12 for a drink and be disrespected. But to the girl with the stretched out lobes… she is there to work, can smile and even respond if you ask her something. Plays good music and makes a better long island.

Well, all good things must come to an end. And that cliché couldn’t ring more true here. Service? Fresh out. Everything else? A couple of legends left the For a better ace and the replacements? Well, go elsewhere. So disappointing but the way it goes.

While waiting for a table at Zazie, we came to Finnegan’s to kill some time and have a drink. The space is okay and they have a back patio. The bartender here was a dick and seem to not even want to be there. I’m sorry to ask for gimlet that’s only 3 ingredients and is one of the simplest cocktails to make. If it was too much trouble, I would have been more than happy to go behind the bar and made my own. Apparently he only works on Sunday so avoid coming here at all costs on a Sunday. *Looking at the other reviews, I had the same bartender that everyone mentioned in their low star reviews.*

Gotta love a little neighborhood dive. Nestled within the cash rich and over-café’d streets of Cole Valley, Finnegans Wake is a breath of fresh air. Speaking of fresh air the outdoor patio is clutch. One of the best outdoor ping pong spots in the city and a good beer gardeny feel to top it of. Great spot to play hookie from work at!

Emily is the best bartender. Über nice, social and knows how to welcome a new local to the area. This will be my bar from now on.

I’ll echo most of the other comments on here: the service sucks, the bartender is a dick, and the bloody marys are awesome. I observed the bartender(the fat bearded guy) for a good 15 minutes. He is particularly rude to women, probably due to a lifetime of rejection and frustration. He also seems like the kind of guy who hates tourists and young people. On the flip side, If you give off a local vibe he calms down and acts cool. If you like spicy bloody Marys and want to drink while you wait for Zazies, come here and don’t bother engaging with him and you’ll be fine. Lastly, don’t ask and/or use more than 1 cocktail napkin at a time. We were scolded and told to ask for a towel if we needed to clean to something up, napkins cost money.

DONOTCOMEHERE. The most unfriendlist bar around. I mean literally there is only one type of people they attract here and yes you guessed it — dbags. I came here to watch the 49er game and this place takes the cake for sucking the most. The bartender(he had a beard) was just a total ahole — literally this guy needs to take a chill pill — was just super stressed all the time and you can tell that he did not like you unless you were a local. There is also this one local guy who looks like a reject from Jersey Shore. I mean this guy had to be at least 40 years old but he had the blond spikes and dressed like the part — I mean really? He had a whole lot of attitude and pretended he worked at the bar but guess what — LOSERALERT — just another wannabe drinking at his old age and trying to get out of his midlife crisis. If you are in Cole Valley — walk down three blocks to the Stanyon and drink at Kezar. Worth the walk.

Best bloody Mary ever. Even if you’re not a bloody fan, give it a try. I’ve seen it turn more than a few people. It also really will cure your hangover. If you can handle it, ask them to make it extra spicy. The only negative is after you have this bloody Mary, bloody Mary’s from anywhere else will be sad and disappointing. You can drink here while you kill time waiting for a table at Zazie’s next door, they’ll come get you. Or, if you’re on a budget(because Zazie’s can be ridiculously expensive), bring your own food in. There’s a Burgermeister around the corner and La Boulange down the street. Just make sure you clean up after yourself or the bartenders will yell at you.
