Egg puffs seem like they’d be pretty easy to get right since all someone has to do is pour batter into the waffle iron and wait. But after sampling egg puffs at multiple places, it must not be as easy as it sounds. Only Eggettes gets in right. On the other hand, Cynthia’s sheet of egg puffs($ 3, one flavor, original) looked golden but the puffs were undercooked in the middle. The exterior batter between puffs was light and crispy. * Hong Kong milk tea with pearls: the balls were soggy and not chewy… probably been sitting around for too long or maybe just overcooked. The tea was decent though. overly sweet. Cynthia’s has zero ambiance and shares the space with a Chinese sausage seller. The menu includes crepes(sweet & savory), a case of Mitchell’s Ice Cream, takoyaki, fried snacks, smoothies, tapioca drinks and tea eggs. Cash only.

My mom and I were running errands on Clement Street and saw the sign in the window saying egg puffs were $ 1 off M-F, so we went in and got one order. The menu on the wall said the egg puffs were $ 3, so with the $ 1off, it’d cost $ 2, right? Well, it cost $ 2.28. The one woman working there must not be a very experienced egg puff maker because she totally burned the top of our egg puff. While we were waiting for it, we decided to order a mango boba for my dad. Those are $ 0.75 off M-F. Instead of making us another order of unburned egg puffs, the woman peeled off the burned parts and gave it to us that way and charged us $ 1.00 for the mango boba rather than $ 2. So technically, the unburned portion of our egg puffs cost us $ 0.28. I suppose for $ 0.28, it wasn’t bad but we kind of wanted to get what we went in there for. Not half of a burned egg puff.

Was massively craving milk tea and stumbled upon Cynthia’s Crepes. I went with the HK Style Milk Tea and I really did not want boba and I thought that it was a silent agreement that I wouldn’t get boba but it came in my drink anyway so I just accepted it as my mistake. I was pretty grumpy about the addition of boba to my drink, however, the boba was BOMB. I couldn’t stop raving about the boba for a few hours after getting my drink. Normally I leave all the boba and even spit them out when a lone pearl gets sucked up in the straw, but I happily chewed these tasty bobas. They have this subtle tea flavor and the texture is just delightful. I even coerced my bf into sampling a boba bc I was so happy. lol… Also they sell Mitchell’s ice cream here and a lot of random stuff in the back.

I’m surprised with the low ratings for this place. I haven’t tried the crepes yet, but occasionally get the Green Milk Tea with LESS sugar($ 2.75). Taste great to me! Definitely worth a try when your in the Richmond District. The green milk tea taste way better then Sweet Delite Gourmet’s green milk tea.

I used to live right down the street and was a big fan of genki for obvious reasons. I returned to the old neighborhood for a nostalgic crêpe treat, and to my dismay genki was closed. I remembered cynthias was new when I used to call the richmond home, so we came here instead. I ordered a nutella and strawberry crêpe. Only one lady working there so service was slightly slow but worth it. Yummy crêpe, decent price. One strange tidbit theres a meat/butcher section in the back? weird.

Perfect tapioca ball consistency. I get the hong kong milk tea and drink it over a period of about 2 hours because it’s strong and I don’t enjoy caffeine anxiety.

Crappy service, the lady overcharged my friend 75 cents and then when she asked her about it, she tried to say it was tax. The crêpe was delicious though and the boba was good. Overpriced though, she’ll over charge you!

I came back to Cynthia’s eager to check out their other desserts so I decided to order their strawberry and halo halo ice cream crêpe($ 5.40). The crêpe skin was thicker and fluffier than the ones at Genki Crepes, and in a similar fashion they rolled it up into a crêpe cone in order to stuff the giant scoop of halo halo to top it off with freshly sliced strawberries and whipped cream. Although the overall presentation looked fantastic, the strawberries only made a brief appearance at the top so once I got to the center it was just my pancake with halo halo and loads of whipped cream. Cute Miss Halo Halo was able to take center stage by dancing to a sweet mahalo beat with my palate the entire time, but I was obviously disappointed with the overwhelming amount of whipped cream since I had specifically asked the server to skimp it. Comparing to Genki, I give Cynthia’s the credit for having superior crêpe texture and ice cream options, but Genki still has the upper hand in putting together a complete crêpe where all the elements were evenly distributed and able to work in concert succinctly. Without the young server this time, their service was ordinary and non-compliant. Counting my last review of their delicious boba, I finally arrived at 3.5 stars.

I came here just yesterday. I ordered a hot almond milk tea from here which tasted okay. I thought they had made my drink cold by mistake but I found out later on that they don’t have the cups for hot drinks so they just put it in the same plastic cups that they put cold drinks in. The egg puff tasted okay. The curry fish balls weren’t that great. it seemed like overcooked them because they were so big !! And they didn’t taste all that great. They were more like fried fish balls because they didn’t even give me any curry sauce !! Maybe I will be back to try the crepes, maybe not.

I work literally three doors down, and this is my and my coworker’s go-to boba place. The people know us by name I think, and they’re always super nice to us. The woman who owns the place(with her husband) will give me free tea eggs for my coworkers, and she’s super sweet. I’ve had better boba(Tea Era in Mountain View, bomb. ass. boba.) but hey, for a cute little crêpe and boba place, you can’t go wrong with Cynthia’s.

I was debating four or five stars as I was eating — and I’m going five. My turkey and avocado crêpe was cheap($ 5) and customizable(lettuce instead of cheese), not to mention absolutely delicious. Five it is!

Where else can you find freshly made takoyaki on Clement(or in SF?) Cynthia also has great curry fish balls($ 1.50), and the classic tea eggs that are ubiquitous throughout the Chinese universe. I’ve been there 5 times now and I haven’t even ventured to the crepes, ice cream or ice teas, but they all look good. Added bonus, the lady in the back sells cured meats and get this… fresh frozen wontons that(when boilded) are better than most won tons throughout the city(chicken or pork&mushroom.) Definitely a place I stop every time on Clement.

This review is based solely on the tapioca drink that I got today. I was buying groceries on Clement and was craving for a tapioca drink when I walked by Cynthia’s and decided to give it a try. I ordered the mango but wasnt too thrill with it because it tasted way too powdery. I’ve had my share of tapioca drinks and this one was pretty bad. It basically tasted like watered down mango bits with tapioca. I had a sip or two and threw the rest away. I’d probably come back to try the crepes here, but definitely not for their drinks.

I will give it a 3.5 for the Egg Puffs. The guy tried to kid with me since I called it egg cakes. Didn’t really care for that but I wanted me some egg cake/puffs! I have been on a mission to find the best place for them and since my sister pointed it out to me… I HAD to give it a shot! ^_– They do take a little extra time but the ones here were pretty decent and worth the wait. I wasn’t expecting much so maybe that’s why it’s better than I thought. It’s $ 3 for an order. They were actually very crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I was surprised by the soft texture inside. The taste is decent but I really enjoyed the contrast in texture. it was a great snack to walk around and shop around Clement.

Cynthia’s Crepes is such a highlight among the food offerings on Clement Street, it got me out of my review-writing slump: { and excited to rave about it. The owner, Cynthia, puts a premium on fresh ingredients. I appreciate that because that means I won’t be expecting my papaya-lychee juice to taste syrupy or gummy, nor to find old ice chips sitting in a generous scoop of my Mitchell’s macapuno ice cream. Not to be missed are the great tasting Crepes and egg waffles, a popular item here. For those looking for a small snack though, do note that she made me a waffle so filling that I needed to split it with my sister even though I was quite hungry before. Lastly, I’ve also tried the HK style milk tea with boba and strawberry boba drink, and both were excellent. The only nuance here is that one may miss this place quickly passing through the block, as Cynthia shares the store(as well as the rent) with another business behind her counter that sells Chinese-style cured meats. So note the address and look for the store with the«grand opening» banner and red awning with the other store’s name on it. Thrilled to have found a place that serves good Chinese snacks! I shall return to try the lemon tea with crushed ice or crêpe with whipped cream and honey.

My boyfriend and I stopped by here yesterday afternoon while in search of something to quench our thirst. The lemon tea caught my eye, even though I was also tempted by the HK style milk tea on the menu. I’m glad I ordered it as it was absolutely refreshing. I watched as the store attendant mashed several slices of lemon into my cup before adding their slightly sweetened red tea and some crushed ice. It was a very refreshing drink at $ 2 a pop, though I feel like it should have come in a bigger cup to make it truly value for money. The store itself isn’t very big, and this place even shares it with a dried meats shop that’s in the back.(There aren’t any tables/chairs here; it’s more of a walk-up type of operation.) The crêpe shop and dried meats shop joint venture is kind of an incongruous match-up, but I guess it works if you’re trying to save on store rental costs. I would definitely come here again to try some of the other drinks on the menu — standard pearl milk teas, etc. — as well as their crepes. I think one of the owners was there when I went, and he was super friendly and had a good sense of humor. I enjoy going to places where you’re made to feel welcome, and you end up leaving with a smile on your face. :-)
