We have been extremely pleased with the results of installing solar on our home through Total Solar Solutions. Jim Spielmaker spent several long and patient hours with me, explaining the entire process in as much detail as I wanted or needed, and then in setting us up with the new federally funded loan which made this a no-brainer choice for us. This kind of loan ties to the house, doesn’t affect your credit in any way, and was very easy to obtain and has a reasonable interest rate especially when spread out over 20 years. We have already saved money and we’re only on our second month! The guys who worked on our house for a week could not have been more wonderful! They were thoughtful and courteous and caring and some of the finest young people we’ve had the pleasure to be in contact with! The owner of the company got the job done, his son was just terrific in helping me set up the feedback on the computer, but it was Jim Spielmaker that made the communication process easy and safe for us. I would give these guys another star if that were possible and I’m very pleased after researching several other companies that we had the good sense to choose Total Solar Solutions!

My friends in Vista put up solar panels on their house and used this company. The sales agent who came out to my house is a friend of a friend. Jim Spielmaker seems like a totally honest person, he inspires confidence. I already knew a lot of the details but he explained everything with clarity and specificity. It’s not cheap but in 5 – 6 years you recoup your money. Plus(1) the HOA cannot deny the permit to install solar panels per CA law, and(2) if you have any overage of energy from the sun, SDG&E buys it back from you. Another decisive factor. Jim explained that the electric companies are continuing to request rate raises and they always get them, in spite of any public protest. Within 10 years, rates for electricity for all Californians will probably be twice what they are now. Jim said it takes a week or so to get the drawing and the permit(which they do) and then a few days to actually install the panels. It’s basically more or less $ 1000 per panel, depending on how many you need which is based on your current usage, which they verify with SDGE. Very pleased with this company. They’re a small family-run company and theyve been in business for over 20 years. However, should they ever go out of business, the 25 year warranty is fulfilled by the mfg of the solar panels, Solar World, the top of the line.
