The SUP Connection

Our first time stand up paddle boarding and we had a great time. We came across SUP Connection via Groupon for a 2-​hour rental for 2 people. We’re glad we took advantage of it — we had a great time. SUP Connection is just outside the Courtyard Marriott at Liberty Station. Parking is easy and the inlet makes it the perfect place to find calm water to give this a try. If you’re interested you can continue along to San Diego Bay and find views of downtown San Diego. At this location you’ll find views of the marina and airplanes taking off from San Diego airport. SUP Connection also rents kayaks.

Went this past weekend with my 10 month old Vizsla to try it out. What a fabulous experience. Samantha and her dog Jack showed us the ropes.
A great area to paddle in. Fair pricing for an instructed hour for you and your dog. Can’t wait to do it again!

This was my 2^nd time hitting the water with the SUP Connection — and I loved every minute. This time I took out the family for a morning ride and surprise my 4 and 6– year old boys with some up close and personal dolphin viewing. The staff is great and super knowledgeable of the best paths. The location is perfect with easy parking and smooth water for a novice paddle boarder.

These folks are great, the paddle boarding class with my dog was fun and I can’t wait to stop by again and rent a board. Samantha is an easy-​going instructor, she made it all simple and fun.

went yesterday with the family! rented two tandems and two singles. we called with little notice on a Saturday (while there was an art festival in PL) & was able to grab a reservation no problem. there was very little to the process — make a reservation, check in (must have a CC for a $ 20 authorization), sign liability waivers and be on your way. there’s little guidance (but we didn’t need the help — others who haven’t been out on the water before on any type of kayak or paddleboard might want to ask). we only reserved for one hour but I would suggest doing the 2 hour. as soon as we got out where we wanted to be we had to go back (side note, bring a waterproof watch to monitor your time). equipment is in good, clean shape.
GREAT views of downtown San Diego, you’ll be 100 ft of Dolphins training in the harbor & the marina is near by (nice boats, but a lot of them especially on the weekend so be aware).
overall… it was a really fun experience. very relaxing to be cruising along on a nice day. we’ll be going back!

Orie was awesome! The staff are very friendly and the quality of equipment is nicer than run of the mill water sport places around. We got a groupon for a private lesson for two. None of us had gone paddle boarding before and he was very patient and helpful! It’s a workout for sure but definitely worth checking out or taking the out-​of-​towners to!

Awesome customer service! Loved all the folks that we interacted from booking the session, SUP lesson, and even got some yoga tips (while on the SUP board of course)! Enjoyed them so much that I had to add them to Unilocal!
Paddleboarding lessons aren’t a must for first timers but it’s nice have a guided tour and not worrying about where you want to explore.
