Sushi Hut

I didn’t realize I ordered online right at their closing time. They waited for me and were very respectful about it. I tipped extra and apologized profusely.
Sushi is what you would expect, not amazing but definitely fills your craving.
I would definitely go back during regular working hours. Sorry again guys!

This is my favorite place for lunch. I always recieve stellar customer service from each and everyone of their employees. They have great food! The spicy mayo and chicken plate is always delicious. Will be returing every week!

A very gross experience. Got a shrimp roll. It came with some dishwater soup. The sushi was nothing special and the place is pretty dirty. If you plan on eating there you might want to rethink those plans. I took a white napkin to wipe off the table because it looked dirty and felt sticky. The napkin picked up some sort of black residue. The tray my order was served on also had visible food residue on it. Hoping I don’t get sick now. :-(

This place is very small and has only two workers, one that makes the sushi, and one that handles the cash register.
My coworkers and I were trying to see if Mandarin Garden was still opened and wanted to try it out, but after finding out it was closed, we went next door to Sushi Hut.
We all ordered the Sumo lunch special which was 3 sushi pieces, and a plate of beef and chicken teriyaki over rice and cabbage. The portions were decent sized for the price that was paid, and the quality of the sushi wasn’t that bad but I have had better. I’m still questioning the freshness of their raw salmon and fish… but a good thing was that I did not get food poisoning from it so it couldn’t have been that bad.
The chicken and beef teriyaki wasn’t really hot at all so I don’t think they make it fresh and that day, or it just sits there and gets heated up just a bit so it doesn’t get dried up.
I didn’t really like it all that much and wouldn’t recommend others to go, and wouldn’t really go again.

Unfortunately, the place has reverted to it’s former infamy. One example, the «Daily Special» has been the same hand written note for a few months now… and they don’t even have the ingredients to make it. Apparently the owner feels since people still order it, he can skimp on the ingredients.
They stopped using anything like dishes or bowls… everything is styrofoam and plastic.
Dirty. Like scummy dirty. If the bathroom is indicative of the kitchen, someone will get really sick very soon. If the food prep counter is half as dirty as the outdoor seating, someone already has gotten ill.
Instead of updating the menu appearance, phone apps and other hipster doodads, make good food in a clean place. All the successful restaurants in the area stay that way because they have consistent food in a clean atmosphere. Not even good food half the time, just consistent and clean. Food isn’t «virtual». So stop playing on your phone and make some sushi dang it.
The only upside to this place is the people working there… who I’m sure are trying… but they can’t do the job if the owner won’t buy supplies.

If you enjoy the quality of gas station sushi, then THIS is the place for you. Sushi Hut partners with Peach, who delivers lunch to my office. Yesterdays lunch was far from edible.
Would absolutely NEVER give these guys a second chance.

Please be careful when you bring any family or just yourself! Me and my pregnant wife, she had some sushi that is perfectly fine for pregnant women, and we both got food poisoning a little after we ate there. We should have just gone to the Hawaiian BBQ place and could have avoided such an uncomfortable next two days. BEWARE!

I stopped into Sushi Hut for lunch today while shopping in the area. It had been awhile since I’d had teriyaki and I thought I’d give them a shot, despite the name implying that they’re primarily a sushi restaurant.
Being from Seattle, where teriyaki shops are on practically every corner, I’ve eaten a lot of teriyaki in my life. While there was nothing wrong with the teriyaki here, I just think that I’ve had better. The rice was just lukewarm and the chicken was just barely warmer. Perhaps it would have been better if it was served hotter. The teriyaki sauce had nice flavor though.
I noticed that they serve Thai tea, which seemed odd considering that it’s not a Thai restaurant, but I’m never one to turn down an opportunity for a Thai tea. It was delicious!

I was running errands and got really hungry. I didn’t have many options so I decided to take a chance and give Sushi Hut another shot. I think they are under new management. The service was very quick, helpful and friendly. The rolls, although still bland, were much better than my last visit. The rice had adequate amounts of rice vinegar, and the filling to rice proportions were appropriate. A little spicy mayo and/​or terriyak sauce will do the job. I probably won’t make a special trip to Sushi Hut, but if I’m in the area I’d definitely give it another shot!

I’ve been a regular for the past five years, but today my husband and I said enough is enough. Tired of sweating our butts off and fighting off flies while we’re eating our food, which has gotten progressively smaller in portion over the years. If management does not value their customers enough to turn on the AC in ninety-​some degree weather, they do not deserve my patronage nor that of my family. Btw, saw the guy in the back swatting off flies while making sushi. Ewww.

I was so horrified that their rolls had LETTUCE inside. Really? We do NOT put lettuce in rolls. why? Because it’s impossible to keep the rolls ROLLED. They disassemble the minute you touch them or pick it up with your chopsticks. Are they trying to cut cost by substituting lettuce where cucumbers are supposed to go? Seriously, sushi that falls apart when it gets picked up is not sushi.
If you HAVE to come here because maybe you work around here (pretty industrial neighborhood), or you just need your dose of omega 3, i get it… just get a combo or something without the rolls and get nigiri — but I’m warning you that even those are made of dry rice and dry fish… you really CANNOT call what they serve here SUSHI.

This place was terrible! Ordered the spicy tuna roll and rainbow roll and I don’t know how to make sushi but I swear I could have done a better job. The only thing fresh about either roll had to be the cucumber bits and even then it tasted day old! SMH Never going here again!

I like this place for pick up! I have come here in the past when I have been in MM. Now whenever I am over here, I usually go to find Phở or Thai somewhere nearby. But I was really craving a bit of sushi, my son likes teriyaki and my mom wanted some egg rolls so this was perfect and quick. They were so nice. I have a box of teri chix, cali rolls, a couple pieces of sushi, salad and rice, all which was fantastic. The chix perfectly cooked and their sauce is perfect. We also had egg rolls which my mom liked, fried nice and crispy brown. They came with sweet and sour sauce which was exactly that. The california roll was good. Look, I am a huge sushi fan and can get picky, but for basically fast food, this was good. He rolled them to order too. The sushi I had in my box was a piece of shrimp and salmon both of which were fine. Obviously didn’t melt in my mouth but good. We also took home an order of california rolls and my son actually ate some. He enjoyed them also. All in all, I will come back when in a hurry and want some not so expensive food, great teriyaki and service.

I decided to finally try this place an hour and half before closing, since they offered $ 20.99 all you can eat sushi, figured it’d be a good deal. However, average food chained to numerous restrictions, and fairly cold service heavily cripple its AYCE offering.
Food & cost: As mentioned, $ 20.99 for AYCE sushi. However, sushi was pretty bland — fish was ok at best, while the rice was dry. Did not care for the rolls that much. Nigiri is hard to mess up and was their saving grace. However, unlike a lot of other sushi restaurants that allow two pieces per order. this place only allowed 1 piece per round of orders, two rounds max. Overall for the price, amount, and quality, not worth it. It’s sad to say, but the package sushi prepared at Costco tasted better than this place.
Atmosphere & service: It’s in a little strip mall. Nothing fancy, but not barren. Service that night, however, was pretty sad. Cashier had her back turned to the counter, was busy doing some kind of prep work, gave her a pass on that. For the rest of the night, with just a family as the other customers, the cashier/​server was quite unattentive and not particularly friendly.
Meh is apt for this place. It wasn’t so actively and terribly hostile to warrant a 1-​Star, but it certainly wasn’t trying to earn much sympathy from me.

Most of their rolls consist of something tempura fried or crab… with avocado and cucumber and maybe a different type of fish to be wrapped with. I can see how if you work in the shopping center, it’s a cool place to go. But I wouldn’t drive out of my way to visit.
No waiters/​waitresses. You order your food and when it’s done they just kind of wave you down to come get it. In my opinion, it’s unprofessional. I guess this is the «fast food» of sushi.
Overall, not impressed.

For me: Food Quality 3 Stars + 1 Star for Great Customer Service!
My favorite is the Lava Roll. If you are interested in ordering party platters, owner allows you to substitute rolls with a small charge.

Love this place. Super cool guy. Idk if he the owner but he’s real nice. And their rolls are delicious! And it’s not overpriced either!

Amazing Sushi. I wish there location was better so others can be exposed to such authentic and delicious sushi. They are amazing caters. I have had many corporate events in which I have hired them to cater too and they went above and beyond. Not one person had a complaint about the food which is rather difficult when you are feeding close to a thousand individuals. I love their fusionistic ideas in regards to sushi, ideas I have yet to see else where.
It is a small store that seems rather generic, once you have tasted there exquisite flavors and combinations your mind will be blown. They even deliver to your home if you are too lazy to drive to Mira Mesa. I love how they don’t just have sushi the typical seafood sushi, they can also incorporate chicken and beef into their rolls for those whom do not enjoy consuming ocean creatures. Fun place, great staff, awesome food!

The place is under new management and in loving the changes so far! They now do delivery and all you can eat sushi at certain times.
