They are the only Asian restaurant in the are, so the options are very limited in north PB. I rate their food 4 out of 5. My favorite dish is the fried rice with veggies. Their Thai tea is good but make sure to remind them to cook the boba before serving you so the boba is nice and soft. Overall the service is good.

Not bad at all. Seating is kinda weird but given its in a beach townish area its doable.

I’ve visited Saigon Fresh now a couple of times and it’s a great little place on Turquoise St. The staff is very friendly and happy to help you right when you walk in. We like to take our food to go :) They have a nice variety of a banh mi’s, soups and other Vietnamese food. We like to order the BBQ pork banh mi — it’s delicious and big enough to share! I must say they do add jalapeños which can get pretty spicy! Also, a big fan of their fresh spring rolls– the order comes with two. For those those items we spent $ 9– which is very reasonable! Considering the quality and size of food. Really happy to have Saigon Fresh in the neighborhood!

I don’t write many reviews and I won’t spend any time writing this one but believe me, this is GOOD! Love the phở’, love the fried rice(really one of a kind), love the drinks(the Thai tea, the amazing avocado smoothie, etc). Highly recommended!!!

Oh man. Just discovered this place. We were gonna go to Oscar’s next door but saw Saigon and thought to check it out. I had the chicken curry. Best ive had. Wow! Good wife had the chicken phở. She loves it. She normally adds sarachi for flavor but its flavorful just the way it is. Its a small hole in da wall but our first experience was yum.

Two stars only because I had been here before and had enjoyed it. Unfortunately, did not fair so well tonight! Ordered the orange chicken w/noodles and shrimp fried rice to go. Food was ready on time, but my first bite into the Orange chicken was dry and stringy. So was the next piece, and the piece after that. Noodles were flavorless. Boyfriend’s shrimp fried rice was similarly bland. I called the restaurant back to report on the inedible chicken and they seemed confused by my use of the word dry to mean there was not enough sauce(of which there was plenty of the flavorlessness) and offered to have me come back for more sauce. Ummmm, no thanks! Not enough sauce in the world that could make dry, stringy chicken less chewy. Major bummer since this place is so close to home, but we don’t plan on stopping by again any time soon… something’s not right when you find yourself wishing you had gone to Panda Express!

Me and my family stopped here to get some dinner on the way home from the beach last night. We live right down the street and it is very convenient. We ordered and had to wait about 15 minuets. One of the employees brought my dog a big piece of chicken and they were playing with here. We got our food and it was hot and smelled delicious, I knew it was fresh. They give you plenty of food and it is all delicious. I have the chicken phở with lots of chicken, onions, the broth was very flavorful and on top of that they give u a huge bag of other toppings as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes this type of food. The service is excellent and I could not ask for a better place.

Food here was pretty average in my opinion — tried the chicken teriyaki and the pork fried rice. I’d say the chicken teriyaki is better and very similar to what you would get at a Japanese food court in the mall. Nothing special but hits the spot if that’s what you are craving. With regards to the pork fried rice, I found this to be a bit more disappointing — rice was fairly soggy and did not have a great taste or texture. Prices are fairly reasonable though — most items are under $ 10.

I may give them another chance based on their proximity but I was fairly underwhelmed particularly in light of so many great reviews. Food was ready for pick up quickly. That’s a plus. Spring rolls with shrimp were fresh and pretty decent. Curry with chicken was sort of bland. Potatoes were mushy. Very(I mean very) dark meat chicken. Grilled shrimp with vermicelli noodles was pretty generic. Nothing terrible about the meal. Just no big deal. The doctor(Notorious MD) wishes Unilocal had something between 3 stars(A OK) and 2 stars(Meh) to denote an average experience. This place wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t that good.

Here’s a simple rule of thumb, if half the menu has teriyaki items & orange chicken that’s not Saigon Fresh ok that’s Japanese food. The phở was ridiculous the broth was diluted can chicken broth, noodles weren’t the proper ones. Just find any Phở place on every block they’ll have better phở, rice dishes, egg rolls, etc and ecerything found on this menu. Most phở places will also have more Vietnamese stuff like Banh mi Bo Kho which is beef stew, Bo Luc Lac sizzling beef cubes over rice, etc so why go here I have no idea unless you live across the street or something. I don’t want sound to a like Debbie Downer on this place, just want to make sure the owners know that we know that Vietnamese cuisine is not orange chicken so get with the program. That’s what Panda Express is for.

We noticed this place after we «finally» found the Oscars on Turquoise St. And mentally made notes we would come back to check this place out! We headed here on a Sunday and started off with smoothies(strawberry and coconut and added boba to both) coconut was delicious! Don’t know about strawberry. Husband said it was better than coconut. Don’t know if it was just to pull my leg. We started off with the Shrimp Spring Rolls(average). I find it strange that they skip the basil in the rolls. However their Egg Rolls were delicious! Heavenly! We then hopped onto Chicken Teriyaki with noodles(phenomenal! One serving was good for two ppl) and has to pack up our pork fried rice to-go cuse we couldn’t even nearly begin with it. Food wise fantastic place. It has a small indoor sitting area with school canteen like benches, three of them and an outdoor area.

We ordered the following: Avocado eggrolls — 1.5 stars It was just that — a hot avocado taste inside a fried eggroll shell. Really mushy, but the sauce was good. Shrimp banh mi — 3.5 stars Better and a decent size — could have had more fresh veggies and less sauce. Veggie phở — 3 stars I have to appreciate when phở is offered with a veggie broth. It lacked flavor, but it was still good. Huge portion too. Even though we ate there — they have limited indoor and outdoor seating — everything was served to go. I’d recommend food eaten there be served on reusable plates and silverware to reduce waste.

I was looking forward to finding a Vietnamese place in PB where i could get a good banh mi without going up to Kearny Mesa. Unfortunately my hopes were dashed before i even took a bite. I ordered the teriyaki shrimp banh mi to go and figured I’d be on my way in minutes. There were no customers ahead of me and only 1 take out order that came in while i was waiting. It took 20 minutes to get my order! I’m used to getting my food in a matter of minutes at Vietnamese restaurants, so this was very disappointing. As for the sandwich, there were 6 small rubbery shrimp with no teriyaki seasoning. There were also no jalapenos either, which are a Banh Mi staple. I added Sriracha, which helped, but felt so unsatisfied after finishing. Not to mention, at $ 6, it was more expensive than I’m accustomed to paying for a banh mi. Maybe I’ll give these guys another try, but most likely I’ll be heading back up the hill to K’s or Cali baguette for my Banh mi fix.

So I’m craving Phở and get on Unilocal… what do you know, there is a new place right down the road from me. Classic phở, very tasty and giant portion. Very happy girl. Can’t wait to try their other stuff!

Called in a to-go order for their chicken phở. They were very friendly and the service was quick and efficient. The phở was only about 7 dollars for a very large portion which I was impressed with. It came with all of the fixings and was served in a very nice broth. The sauce that they put on the side is also very tasty as well. This was my first time having chicken phở and it was good and a nice change from the usual beef phở that I get. I will definitley be back to try some of their other options such as their terriyaki and avocado rolls. Definitley a great addition to the neighborhood!

Tried this place 3 times food is average. 2 Stars for the terrible service. Called in for takeaway and they missed some of the things I ordered. Not only that they didn’t put in any of my egg rolls that I PAID for. Honestly you can get better asian food in PB easily, without dealing with terrible service.

This place just opened a few months ago down the street from me and I could not be happier. The food is amazing! I have had there teriyaki chicken, orange chicken and chicken phở and so far no complaints! the orange chicken was probably my least favorite but still good. Service is extremely friendly as well, every time I walk in they are always smiling and i’m greeted promptly. I also like how you can see everything they are doing regards to cooking the food and packaging it. I highly recomend this place to anyone! The four stars is because they don’t have beef options but other than that its amazing

Not a fancy place, but the food and service is good. I’ve been here twice, and so far, I haven’t been disappointed. I’ve had their chicken and shrimp Phở, shrimp fried rice, vegetable spring rolls and avocado spring rolls. All very delicious, affordable and the portions are big. I always have leftovers for the next day. Thinking of going back tomorrow to try their chicken teriyaki noodles!

I stumbled upon Saigon Fresh when my original dinner plans fell through due to an unexpected restaurant closure. I pulled out my handy Unilocal app and Saigon Fresh caught my attention with their nearly perfect rating. Combine that with the chilly San Diego nights lately and I decided that it was definitely time for some phở. We arrived at this little hole-in-the-wall shop and were intrigued to find out what had earned this shop such an amazing rating. Obviously, it wasn’t the décor, as it’s very bare bones inside with just a few oddly shaped tables lining one wall. You order at the counter off an old-school menu that’s hung to the right of the cash register. The menu has price changes and new food additions scribbled on it and could definitely use an upgrade. I was surprised to discover that this Vietnamese restaurant didn’t serve beef phở, which I understood to be the basic version of phở, but decided to try the chicken phở instead. My date ordered the vegetarian phở. We then waited for 10 to 15 minutes for our to-go order to be completed. Despite all of this, I must say that I was impressed with the soup. It’s a great alternative version to chicken noodle soup and definitely helped to warm me up. For to-go orders, they package the broth in a styrofoam container and put the noodles, meat and other ingredients in a plastic bowl. Then you put the two together when you get home and finish it off with some sprigs of basil and lime. The bowl was more than enough for me and I had about 1⁄3 leftover for a snack the following night.

This a great new Vietnamese eatery. Seating is limited, but there is some inside and outside along the wall. I order some Bún with lemon grass chicken served over vermicelli rice noodle and chopped salad and aromatic herbs. The lemon grass looked great when it arrived served in a Styrofoam container with a good average amount of chicken( ). The chicken was well seasoned, tender, had a mild lemony flavor and came with nice bits of fried up garlic( ). The vermicelli was abundant, and after adding a bit of fish and soy sauce the rice noodles were great eating( ). The greens and vegetables were minimal but very good. They people who work here are nice with a bit of a language barrier but good enough to get your order through. They do not on offer beef nor pork, just shrimp, chicken, and veggie options which I found a little odd.
