I don’t consider myself super picky, but I just wasn’t too impressed with this place. I’ll likely give them another shot and will have my fingers crossed they’re capable of redeeming themselves.

Wow, Regretto’s is a spot on description(stolen from Unilocaler Cliff). Previously I thought there were only two levels of Mexican food, GREAT and good. I mean, its pretty hard to totally screw up a burrito… At least that’s what I though until I tried Roberto’s. This place is usually a late night, or quick option, never my first choice anyways but I was in a hurry last week. They are always rude and slow, so I expected that(and wasn’t disappointed), and the food is usually edible, but I went last week and ordered a beef and bean burrito, and what I received was a pepper and water burrito. That is the only way I could describe it. It was like they cook their beef with peppers, and all they had left was the peppers and the left over juices so they threw that into a tortilla with watery beans. I have never met a burrito I could say no to, but this was inedible. Even if the flavor had been good(which it wasn’t), it was impossible to eat because it was completely liquid except for the peppers. The BF tried to eat it by slurping out the filling… vomit… but it just oozed all over and had to toss it. He split his rolled tacos with me, which were dry and gross, but at least consisted of a solid substance. People saying they go out of their way to come here cannot possibly be real reviews, or they have never had another burrito in their life. Nor are they EVER friendly.

I go to this place all the time. They get my order wrong 90% of the time, but, it’s always really good so I keep going back. The way they take orders leaves something to be desired. But like I said they make good stuff and if it’s close enough to you then it’s worth it.

We come here at least once a week. Mostly because it is the only place open but also because their bean and cheese burritos are awesome. Everything else – not so much. Husband and I have tried pretty much the whole menu and we have defaulted to bean and cheese as the only consistently good choice. However, if you decide to order anything here make sure you are very specific. When I order I often get bean, cheese, and rice. I think the cooks may be gung-ho about the filler food. So be specific and keep double checking. Often I open it in the car when they hand it to me. I know it’s work but when you don’t want rice it is disappointing. So, come here and get a bean and cheese burrito. Venture into other things at your own risk.

Regretto’s is never a first choice. They were kinda cheap and that made it acceptable, but they just raised everything a dollar. Won’t be going there anymore if I can help it, but it is the only place open at 2 am… prolly regret it later though

Woke up in the morning and wanted to eat a burrito. I have had the best burritos ever in San Diego especially breakfast burritos. One place put in avocados and it was so good. Walked over here and ordered a breakfast burrito. The burrito did not have anything in it but eggs and nothing else. Cheese was extra. I thought this burrito would have veggies or some thing else in there but it did not. Price was pretty good, but had to wait for like 10 minutes to get the burrito.

Ahhh. I’ve had some great memories about«Regreto’s». I’ve frequented this drive through many times back in my drunken OB days. If you’re looking for something to sop up those beers that you were slamming at Tiny’s across the street, then this is your place. I usually went for the carne asada burrito with xtra cheese and sour cream. The burritos were pretty good size, so I don’t know how the hell I stayed so skinny back then. Must’ve been all that crack they put in the burritos…

I’ve been coming here for many years, and it’s always the same, GREAT! My favorite is the number 1 combo with beef taco and cheese enchilada. This is real mexican food taco shop, so if you want tex-mex or fancy table settings, go to old town but if you are local like me it’s all good!

Let me tell you something people who gave less than 3 stars. they are not facing to their reality. You have to have great time til at least 1:30 in the morning to reach to this place. If you don’t have that feeling you wouldn’t enjoy this place. Its about you, not the place. Its all in you. Respect the place. These people work hard. They are providing a service. Not many places are open this late. Do not even go in the day. This place does not even EXIST before midnight. –a very special thanks to Fumi for orally dictating this lovely review at 2am

Not one of the better Roberto’s, but the food isn’t quite as bad as the many negative reviews suggest. The reason for my low rating is that the cashiers at this place are relentless when it comes to shortchanging. ALWAYSCOUNTYOURCHANGE! Further experience with 24-hour OB/Pt-Loma Tex-Mex dictates that I upgrade my rating to 3-stars. Shortchange attempts can be defeated by counting change and the fact remains that, between 11 pm and 4 am, Roberto’s is the best Mexican food in the area.

I love to hate this place. I always tell myself I’m done, but at 4a. m, when there are no other burritos in site, I always find myself skimping for change and crawling back for more. Truth is maybe I just like to find cruel ways to torture myself. Either way, Roberto’s/ regretto’s is usually it.

Do you love vomiting? How about spending some time in the hospital? Are you looking for an easy way to commit murder without getting caught? EATHERE. I did, after a night of drinks with my boo. Everyone knows Mexican drive thru is the ticket at 2am on a Friday night. But there really should be crime scene yellow caution tape made especially for this place & vigorously wrapped around the entire building and its drive thru. There should also be wooden«Danger Ahead» signs like Splash Mountain strewn around the parking lot and all over Voltaire st. After eating here, I was sick with food poisoning for 5, yes, that’s right, 5 days. So sick in fact, I was hospitalized for a day. All for a 3 rolled tacos and a side of rice. I think i need not review the food anymore. normally when you read the word ‘poisoning’ snuggled next to the word ‘food’, a review of quality is no longer applicable. I strongly recommend this place for wives trying to off their cheating husbands, students seeking revenge on the teacher that failed them, and friends who have knives in their back from scum sucking friends. I sincerely hope the ‘11’ in Roberto’s No 11 doesn’t mean this is their 11th location, because that in itself has to be some sort of crime. How I Met Your Mother was right, «nothing good happens after 2 am.» Just go home, don’t stop anywhere, don’t call anyone, don’t pick up drive thru mexican food, just go home. go home and go to sleep.

A long time standard in OB for Authentic Mexican Food at all hours. It’s a drive thru with 2 lanes and a walk up window as well with a couple of tables outside in front. Service is always fast and friendly. I LOVE their Carne Asada Burrito. It is huge and I swear it will cure a hangover or even a simple case of the blues. Their Carnitas Tacos and their Tacquitos are excellent too. If you’re craving great mexican food at a great price and you just want to swing thru on your way home, this is the place to go.

Coming home from the beach with my dog, I got the craving for a custom burrito. Rather than drive to Cotijas, the regular spot I go for satisfaction of my custom burrito craving, I figured I would give Roberto’s a try as it’s between the beach and home… and I would not have to drive an extra mile to get my satisfaction. If it’s not on the menu, drive on by and go somewhere else! My custom burrito fix is a burrito that’s guacamole, bacon, sour cream, cheese and onion. Most places like this ask me if I don’t want egg. When I tell ‘em I don’t want egg, they leave it off. I was the only vehicle at either drive thru… and this should have caused me to wonder about the quality of this place. I placed my order at the speaker and was asked if I wanted egg on the burrito. I replied no and proceeded forward. At the window, I was again asked if I wanted egg on the burrito. I replied no and repeated the ingredients I wanted on the burrito. When I said onion, the olé’ boy behind the register looked at me funny so I said cebolla and he repeated back onion. He asked me for money and handed me my receipt, which clearly stated no egg. 5 minutes and two further requests asking if I wanted egg, to which I replied no, I got my burrito. When I arrived home, I unwrapped the burrito, opened up green sauce and took a bite only to find egg in the burrito. The place is only 3 blocks from home, but I was in for the night, so I opened up the tortilla and removed what egg I could. The onion was grilled, which I can’t understand. The cheese was lightly sprinkled on the burrito… the bacon was fatty and the guacamole looked lime-green with no chunks of anything. I emailed the address listed on the window and advised they got it wrong. Let’s see if I get a response.

Is the sun out? Don’t go here. Are you on the way home from the bars and wanted Jack in the Box but they wouldn’t let you walk up to the drive-thru window even though you made convincing car noises? Rolled tacos it is.

One of my guilty music pleasures is R-Kelly songs so this intro will be to the tune of his classic hit«Bump and Grind» ‘My mind is tellin me nooooooooo… but my tummy… my tummy’s tellin me there ain’t nothing wrong… With a little late night Mex.‘ Actually, there is a whole heck of alot wrong with this place. They serve bore– rittos. There’s really no flavor to them whatsoever, but my late night food cravings are forced to settle for Roberto’s because its really the only late night Mexican food close to mi casa. Gotta at least bump them up a star for that. Oh well, between my inevitable drunk munchies, and the contact high that comes from living in OB a late night burrito is still a late night burrito… right?

Ate here while on a visit in SD. Went out drinking one night and of course got the craving for some munchies after the night was done. Saw this place was crowded and said why not. I was drunk and forgot what time during the night it was, but it was late. So yes they are open pretty late or open 24hrs on the weekends. Excuse my drunkness for not being able to remember the time of the early morning. This is like a Mexican Wienershnitzel. It was really an amazing site during my experience. There are 2 separate drive-ins going at the same time. Both lines filled with cars by the way. On top of that there is the walk in window with several people ordering as well. Inside there are only 2 employees running the entire joint! Despite being short handed, they still got through everyone. This deserved star, but also a reason why I didn’t give them 5. They were working their asses off, you can see them moving around in that tiny space with not even a chance to rest. Yes it still took longer than usual, but if you saw the crowd you will appreciate how quick they still managed to get the food out. Of course if you are in a complete rush that was not possible, and that’s why it was only fair to leave a star out. It’s nothing fancy nor does it try to be something fancy. So for reviewers who complain, what did you expect by the looks of the place. It’s a place to grab a quick bite other than the usual fast food joints. It’s nice to have another option in the middle of the night. So how was the food. My carne asada burrito was $ 4.25. I was really expecting the worse. However, it was surprisingly good. Maybe a long night of drinking effected my taste buds, but I knew I wasn’t that drunk. I honestly thought it was good. The carne asada was tender and tasty. Perhaps another visit during the daytime, and sober, will change my current opinion, but until then. if its late at night at you’re drunk and hungry, you’ll be satisfied at Roberto’s No 11. Just don’t go in here with high expectations, appreciate it for what it is and you’ll see it’s not bad at all.
