Set up an appointment with Rissa. As soon as I get here for my scheduled time and after paying for parking at the lots, she tells me that she didn’t have the time to do what I was wanting after all. Completely wasted my time!

Rissa is amazing. I normally don’t want anyone talking to me whilst they wield sharp objects around the money maker (my face, obviously), but she is so awesome at what she does that talking doesn’t distract her at all. The problem is that she makes me laugh too much, which makes it hard to sit still!
She has consistently given me great cuts, and I’ve never had a better stylist. Watching her at work is simply a joy, as her hands are so nimble and gentle. But what really sets her apart from the other stylists I’ve had is the hospitality and warmth that she shows, even when you know she’s had a long day. She goes out of her way to make you comfortable.
Put plainly, with Rissa, you always feel like you matter. Highly recommended.

Rissa is truly amazing!!! We all know we search long and hard for someone to be in a hair relationship with and Rissa is my one true love! I have had extensions for years and they have destroyed my hair until about 2yrs ago when Rissa started putting them in and I have no damage!!! She is a fantastic stylist and I could imagine going to anyone else!

UPDATE: It has been four years & I am still in love with Rissa: D She is not only an amazing hair stylist but she has become a dear friend. She has gone above & beyond for me & most recently my son! If it were up to me, my son would have long locks forever but he couldn’t see after a while due to his bangs lol Of course, I trusted no one else but Rissa to do his first haircut. She was patient & sweet! Choose Rissa, you will LOVE her & your hair!!!
Holy Moly. This salon is AMAZING and so is RISSA! She is fab-​u-​lous!!! I have tried a number of salons in and out of San Diego and I could never find the right fit. I stopped trying a while ago and since I only like a trim, I have had my wonderful (yet non-​trained in the art of hair) sister trim dead ends and my bangs. I’m not really into my hair all that much and just kind of gave up the search…
Then Rissa walked through the door! Literally. I work across the street from the salon and she came over to drop off some cards. I was intrigued! She was really nice and I was impressed by her coming over to meet us. Saturday rolled around and I was lounging, thinking… man my birthday’s in a few weeks… my hair is looking heinous, maybe I should give Hyde Edwards a call to see if Rissa is available.
Lo and behold, she was!!! I couldn’t believe my luck! I thought I wouldn’t be able to get an appointment with her for weeks but due to some cancellations, I was in. Awesome.
The salon itself is beautiful, airy and relaxing. I was welcomed and immediately attended to… with a fresh glass of white wine! Mmmm, I was sold. Then after a few minutes, I was met by a cheerful Rissa. She gave me a tour of the salon and spa area (which by the way, looked heavenly — I will be back for some back rub &/​or facial action). Every area was well appointed and nicely designed.
After the tour, I was shampooed and my head was ma-​ssaged. Mmmhmm. It was GREAT. Then off to Rissa’s chair.
What really impressed me was that Rissa asked what I wanted (trim, keeping length but freedom to do what she thought would suit my face/​hair/​everyday styling — which is basically some product and a shake of the head). After asking, she actually did everything I wanted!!! My hair looked AMAZING! I rarely ever toot my horn, but man, I definitely had a new swagger after leaving. Rissa not only showed me how to achieve the look she created but it was easy and fits into my 15 minute makeup, dress, hair and leave routine in the morning. She is my new hero! I have found a salon home… and if you can’t tell, I am a HUGE fan of Rissa and Hyde Edwards!

Rissa is fantastic. Been going to her for over 3 years and there’s no one I’d trust with my hair, other than her. She’s super fun and professional and is just the best!

I struggled to find a stylist after moving to San Diego from Texas. Thankfully I found Rissa at Hyde-​Edwards! She is by far the best stylist I have ever had and I have been going to her for almost 3 years. My hair is very thin and refuses to grow! Rissa suggested that I try extensions. I love them. Best decision I have ever made. Rissa also does my highlights. I have had more compliments on my hair in the last 3 years than I have had in my whole life. It’s so nice to trust your stylist 100%. Everytime I leave the salon I know that I will be loving my extensions, happy with my color and especially happy with the way my hair is styled. Rissa is amazing!!!

Rissa is my GIRL! I first discovered her at another salon where she took me from washed out blonde to a beautiful rich brunette. We hit it off immediately and when she switched to Hyde-​Edwards salon, I followed. That salon is great btw. But I’ve been going to Rissa for 5 years now. I am passionate about my hair looking natural and healthy and Rissa is the queen of natural color. She can almost read my mind. It’s like she takes what I am thinking and makes it happen on my hair. She does the most perfect thin blonde highlights. I trust her completely and she’s never steered me wrong. On top of that, she’s such a cool chick. I love getting my hair done cause it’s just like hanging out with an old friend. GO TO RISSA! Your hair will thank you.

Rissa is an angel! She does amazing hair! Honestly Rissa is the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She makes everyone feel like family. So easy to talk to and get along with. She will be honest if you bring her an idea that probably won’t look as good on you. And will never let you do something you will regret! She takes a lot of pride in her work and her client are her walking art pieces. You will walk out of there looking and smelling like a million bucks. I have been going to Rissa for over a year now thanks to a recommendation and now have sent my mom and sister in law over. Can not say enough good things about her. Do yourself a favor and go see her!

Honestly, my hair has never looked this good. Rissa takes her time and it always looks great. Also, after the cut, I can make it look good myself, which is awesome. She talked me into growing my hair out after about 20 years of a Bob that I colored myself. It’s like night and day. Strangers are commenting on my highlights. Hope she never leaves San Diego!

There have only been a handful of times in my life when something has exceeded my expectations, this experience was one of them…
To start off, Rissa is so welcoming and warm. She made me feel like I had known her for years… Which is helpful when you are a «Nervous Nelly,» like myself (too many bad hair experiences have given me PTSD when it comes to salons)… After a thorough consultation, she went into the back room to mix my color, while I mixed some anti anxiety medication and wine (I literally get anxiety in hair salons because of so many horrible experiences, luckily the salon she booth rents in, also serves wine). She came back, applied my color, meanwhile explaining everything she was doing, rinsed me (best shampoo experience EVER, because did I mention she is a Kerastase educator, so she knew exactly what to use on my hair!?) Then, did a trim and blew dry my hair like I was about to get mobbed by the paparazzi… I was so impressed… It looked amazing… So natural, healthy and beautiful, it was like an upgraded me… I would highly recommend her for anything involving hair! Whether you’re a conservative, office worker, like myself or a free-​spirit, purple haired soul (like my sister, who saw her after she saw how great my hair turned out), you will not be disappointed. You can trust that she is a true professional and knows exactly what she’s doing! Do yourself, your hair and the people who have to look at you, a favor… Book an appointment with Rissa!
