Saw a photo of food here from the @YouStayHungrySD instagram and decided to try it out. ATMOSPHERE:cute, cozy place, lots of places to sit inside or outisde FOOD: breakfast menu was good, lots of bagel sandwiches, breakfast items, etc. we got breakfast bagel sandwiches, one pesto egg bagel sandwich and one egg, cheese, bacon bagel sandwich; the eggs were plentiful and were prepared steamed so they were very fluffy! The amount of cheese was generous and the bagel tasted very fresh. SERVICE: the guy cook in the back was super friendly and chatty, the cashier/order taker was so-so, didnt wow me with her personality. If you are looking for a breakfast sandwich in PB, this is a good spot to check out.

Awesome little spot with super friendly staff! Drove by this place a few times and finally decided to stop in for an early lunch. I had a bagel pesto sandwich which was delicious, on an everything bagel. And my friend got the Cali burrito. Everything was super fresh I would totally go back again– & bring my computer to do some work! they had a ton of coffee choices and everything was very fresh

I had the breakfast burrito and it was no good. Bland. Disappointing. I’m willing to give the café another try though because the service was great and the atmosphere was inviting and fun.

I went to this coffee shop to return some email and have a quick cup of coffee in between meetings one day. I found myself quickly enjoying the coffee and the ease in which I was able to access the Wi-Fi. During my coffee, I received a call stating that my meeting was going to be pushed back by about a half an hour, so I ended up staying in the coffee shop for well over an hour. Despite my purchasing only one cup of regular coffee I was never asked to hurry or felt rushed to leave. The employees allowed me to not only enjoy my coffee but complete some work without interruption. I will definitely return.

I came here with my brother for a nice low key breakfast after my yoga class and I must say that I am very pleased! When I used to live in PB. YEARS ago. I would always see this place, but never really had the urge to come here. My brother wanted breakfast and I was looking for something inexpensive– so I decided to come here after reading the reviews. It’s a small establishment, but it’s very quaint. I had ordered their green eggs(pesto) and ham(bacon) breakfast and it was pretty damn good! Especially for the price! It also came with toast and butter. What I like about this place is that when my brother ordered their breakfast, he asked for no bread and they altered the price to a lesser price because of the no bread! Most establishments will charge you full price even when you ask them to hold the bread or whatever ingredient you may not want, but not Purple café! Incredibly friendly staff and good food. Me likey!

Best café in Pacific Beach! Discovered this place super randomly a few months ago and it is now my go to place for my study days. It is great because 1) you will always find a cozy table situation WITHANOUTLET no matter what. 2) the people who work here are the sweetest and are super attentive and friendly 3) tasty food and coffee, I always get a caramel ice coffee and a works bagel which are delish. 4) the vibe is so cute and fun! It has a very family feel, everyone knows each other, and there is live music every once and a while. Great place for local PB residents!

I love this place! First of all I love supporting local businesses, so this one is even better because they sell things made by local artists. The coffee shop is in a an old renovated house and its painted purple so cute! Every time I go there I feel like I’m visiting my good friends, they are so warm and friendly. My first time there I ordered just a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, and the man cheerly offered to sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on it as well which I thought was awesome. This place also has a lot of seating so it would be great for a meeting, homework, or catching up with a friend! I love it here and I go ofter, you should too!

I thought this place was adorable I loved the atmosphere we came here on a Saturday morning. There was a gentleman playing the guitar. The coffee was so so but the works bagel was delicious! Minus the fact that it it had too much cream cheese for my liking but that is fixable. They also had granola which I got for my daughter and it was delicious! My boyfriend got the chai and in my opinion it wasn’t spiced enough but I like things a little different. Overall enjoyed my experience and my food and coffee.

I have finally checked out this place after wanting to for a very long time. Saturday morning and it wasn’t too busy, I was greeted very nicely by ALLTHEEMPLOYEES, quick service and production of the food and drinks. Their iced drinker and bagel sandwich was really nice. I truly like the feel of this place. Very inviting and friendly. Prices are okay but I’m happy I’m supporting a mom and pop San Diego shop:) Only reason I had to dock a star was due to the relentless flies, just obnoxious trying to eat and chit chat with a friend while swatting away :/

Do not recommend this place because we went in, in full view of the baristas, and they did not attempt to greet us or wait on us. We finally left to find a more attentive coffee place, where we were immediately greeted politely and ordered delicious mocha lattes and an egg sandwich. Whoever owns this place needs to have a serious talk with the employees. The much nicer place is called Pacific Bean. Go there.

There are many cafes in San Diego but this one is definitely memorable. I love the fact that it is still close to the beach, I often park my car on the street next to the library, come in, grab a bite, drink my coffee and people watch for some time. The nice thing about the place is that even though it is next to a busy road, once you start eating your BBLT bagel which is amazing, you kinda forget about everything else. I tried other things here and there, but if there is a signature thing about this place it is definitely the bagels. The two twin sisters who usually work the place are really nice and friendly. Bonus point for dog owners, your doggie can get some complimentary bacon ! Having that said, if you come with friends who have dogs, this is a win win place and you can meet other local dog owners. Another plus is the local artist that come over. I played the piano couple times and got surrounded by some musicians in .3 seconds who just came out of nowhere. This gives the place a sense of artistic community which I find very unique. Generally, when I have guests visiting and they want a quick morning snack and coffee at a cool spot, Purple Café is the first place in PB that comes to mind.

Very cute very quaint. Super yummy food and decent prices. I had a hummus bagel and blended green tea. I originally ordered an orange juice and they were running low. The girl who was helping me told me that they’d just give to me on the house cause it wasn’t filled up all the way and I could order another drink too. I thought that was a nice gesture and it was very much appreciated. I def come back. The girls working were very sweet and lots of small tables to eat, chat and do some work

Really good bagel sandwich(pesto egg) and iced coffee. Super friendly staff and some of the best WiFi I’ve had at a coffee shop(other coffee shops take note, it’s 2014 and this is pretty important). Only suggestion is to have a fan of some sort installed as the back room near the piano gets pretty stuffy even with the door open. Other then that keep doing what you’re doing :) it’s places like the Purple Café that are why I enjoy finding local coffee shops when I travel and avoid Peet’s and Starbucks.

This is a great little spot to grab a nice cup of coffee and some either a light breakfast or lunch. I stopped in the morning and had an Americano and their everything toasted bagel with a pesto scramble, tomatoes, and provolone.( ) The American was great and with just a touch of cream it went down smoothly and hit the spot. The Breakfast bagel sandwich was great. The pesto was directly scrambled into the eggs, so its flavor was very noticeable throughout. The tomatoes were freshly cut and the Provolone cheese was great.( ) They offer breakfast burritos and many other sandwiches as well. They have a good Wi-Fi signal and plenty of indoor seating with a scattering of seating inside. I liked that they have power strips lying about for charging and such. The young ladies who work here are hip, quite friendly, and ready to strike up a conversation. Nice place…

Great place to stop after swim class with the kids. Wish I had known it was here years ago! Great live music on a Sunday afternoon and the twins who manage the place were very friendly and helpful. We ordered a caramel iced ‘frappucino’ with whipped cream, a breakfast burrito with egg, avocado and sprouts, an everything bagel that had cream cheese, tomato, sprouts, a pre-packaged apple strudel, and a pre-packaged granola raisin flower-shaped ‘bar’. The best things were the coffee drink/frappucino, and the everything bagel. The burrito came out super piping hot — obviously microwaved and wasn’t cool enough for the kids to eat until we left. They loved the everything bagel however. There was plenty of nice seating– we scored the banquette in the corner by the bathroom. There were several students studying on laptops. And outside, you can sit on a sidewalk bar and read your paper if you like. Big plus for us was that dogs are welcome inside and out. Service was amazingly quick considering that there were only the twins running the kitchen, coffee, register and service/bussing. They were quick to bring us extra water when we asked. The parking is curbside only, but we didn’t have trouble even at lunchtime. Much much much better alternative to eating at IHOP just around the corner. We will definitely be back!

Extremely friendly service, tasty bagels and wraps. Love the blended coffees, loose leaf teas and house coffees. I want to come here when there is a live performer. Starting tomorrow they are going to stay open later for the spring and summer season. I hope they have some fans in there, because that little purple house gets hot inside! Whew! LOVE the jazz music and tables. This is my favorite hang out for coffee. Would come here more if it were open for crazier hours.
