This is a reliable stop if you’re looking for a bite in Liberty Station. Not the best in town but better than some others. Breakfast burritos: They have a handheld burrito which is just meat and eggs at a great price(~$ 3). Big enough to get you going without a gut bomb at the start of the day. If you’re really hungry, go for a monster. That is a gut bomb and you won’t need lunch after one of those. Lunch/dinner: Carne Asada is a solid choice. I had a chicken burrito dinner plate the other day. Quite frankly it was pretty bland which is what is bringing the rating down to 3 stars.

Service was meh, food was plain, and I ordered a side of pico de gallo that cost a 1 $ and it was a 1.5 oz soufflé cup. Probably never come back. I even mentioned the portion size to an employee and they responded by saying that the owners were greedy and crazy. Not a first, second, or third choice in the category of meh Mexican food. Oh, the tortilla tasted like it was a week old.

I disagree with some of the other reviews that say this place is terrible or that the food is plain. I have been here several times over the years and it’s very good and consistent. Is it the best taco shop ever? Probably not, but it’s pretty damn good! They have a large menu with alot of choices and many specialties like their family of «monster burritos». My favorite is the 619 monster burrito that has chicken and carne asada in what is essentially a huge california burrito with Chipotle sauce. Every taco shop has the same basic menu… at least this place tries to mix things up a bit and does it well. I’d reccomend this place to anyone in the area.

This place is okay. They have free bags of chips you can enjoy with the salsa bar. and a variety of drinks. I tried the cali burrito and it was good. The service is friendly and our food came out in a timely manner.

Consistently good food and fair price. This is the third location we’ve eaten at and they are all good.

Stay away from the monster surf and turf burrito. The size sure is monster, but that is about it. It’s a giant bean, cheese, and rice burrito, sprinkled with meat and shrimp. I had high hopes for the burrito based on the size. After a few bites I found myself looking for something other then bean, cheese, and rice. The service was good, the food came out in a timely manner. The salsa bar looked neglected, this was during the lunch rush. So I can understand. The burrito just seemed to be lacking substance. I felt as if I ordered a huge bean, cheese, and rice burrito and not a «surf and turf».

Thought I try this place I’m always in the area on Saturdays. Ordered the carnitas Burrito the portion was ok but the food was horrible along with the service. The burrito had no filling besides the carnitas, guacamole(very runny not thick), and some pico, . No rice no beans com’on. Another downside it was half warm by the time it got to me it. Servers paid no attention to it once the cooks made it I had to ask if it was mine. Seriously don’t try this place if your near Liberty station go to smash burger right next door the servers are nice and the food is better and it’s is cleaner. The nice thing about this place was the location

A group of friends and I stopped by for lunch this afternoon, arriving around 11:30 in the morning. Their menu is pretty decent, with a wide variety of options and I decided to try the grilled fish tacos. We were able to order quickly… and then came the wait. Some of us waited over 30 minutes for our food to be ready, and then when we finally got our food it was so mediocre it was hardly worth eating. I love spicy salsa, so I was excited by the habańero salsa and the jalapeńo salsa, but sadly neither were spicy at all. My tacos were bland and the amount of guacamole on the chicken tacos a friend got was pretty much non-existent. Not impressed, won’t be back

The burritos fall apart when you pick them up, also it’s mostly French fries inside of them. My burrito contents fell right out of the bottom after 2 bites in front of a manager and he didn’t seem to care. Just go to smash burger next door. Their food and management is better.

Amazing! The employees were more than happy to fix our order just the way we needed it. The salsa bar is awesome! We are from MO and it’s hard to find good Mexican food when we travel. This met my expectations after being in Mexico for a full summer. Not authentic but more than most!

Good carnitas and a reasonable sculpin made for a good meal. Would visit again if I am in the area

I gave multiple chances on different burritos but they managed to disappoint me on each time. Don’t think will be back

Honestly, the mediocre reviews kept me away. It’s great! A spotless restaurant, nice TV’s, great drink selection, lots of seating and excellent service. The food is great! We shared a california burrito and came back the following day for their mini tacos. They were superb, carnitas and steak, onions, guacamole and cilantro. We enjoyed them and can’t wait to return to try their many other items. The french fries were fluffy and tender and the steak is very flavorful, not greasy. It beats Adalberto’s by a mile…

I agree with the consensus of these reviews, 3 stars. Located in liberty station, primos has plenty of parking. The staff was friendly enough for a counter service food shop. They had beer on draft which was a nice touch, but don’t expect gastropub choices here. I just wasn’t that impressed with the food. I ordered a regular california burrito which included carne asada, french fries, pico, and cheese. The tortilla overwhelmed the burrito actually. There was barely any beef within the ratio of french fries and tortilla. Without the salsa, this is quite plain. With all the taco shops around, this one doesn’t compare.

Small portions, bland food and more on the expensive side for Mexican food in San Diego. Not worth another try for me.

Decent Mexican food. Service is ok. Been to several other Primo locations with friendlier service and tastier food. It all depends on who is working the back end that makes each place a little different. Plenty of parking even though I have seen it packed during the week. This location is probably the closes one to the airport so if your need a fix right off the airplane this is the place to go.

Great place to stop by before or right after the airport. It’s a little North of SAN just past a bridge. Good for breakfast lunch and dinner. I’m not a great rater of Mexican food in san diego as it’s all better than seattle. big fountain selection with those opaque mexican drinks that defeat the cure for type 2 diabetes seem to be really popular. I thought I was drinking Jello.

This place is good sometimes… And for being one out of 263829293 mexican restaurants in San Diego, sometimes isn’t good enough. Lunch time = madness. They are short of staff to help keep the line moving and at the same time put out to go orders. And $ 8 for a quesadilla where the fourth piece was literally the tortilla folded in half with nothing inside… Come on. They should have salsas ready for to go orders(they are to go for a reason) Idk what I was thinking. Good luck if you decide to try it.

Don’t let the 3 stars make you think this place isn’t good – it is. For Mexican food snobs it will not meet your high standards. For people like me who are just down to have a greasy, tasty taco or burrito it’s a nice place to go. Staff is always friendly. Place is rather clean for an establishment like this. If you have any problems with your food(like minuscule examples found in other reviews) just talk to the staff, they will accommodate you. The regular burritos are definitely large enough, probably more than you need. Monster burritos are good when you’re dining with a friend and wanna split cost. Rolled tacos are great and they deep fry them I believe. One thing that may throw people off is their guacamole isn’t freshly made. Most burritos come with it I think, but I wouldn’t pay extra to get it. I’ve grown up hating raw onions, tomatoes and cilantro so I’m a fan of their very plain, straightforward guac. If you like the above in your guacamole, now you know ahead. Overall, I come here often because I’m an Über driver and work around the airport most days. It’s a convenient place for me. I wouldn’t however, say OHMY, gotta have my Primos Mexican Food today if I weren’t working or in the area.

I am sorry, but when you don’t season eggs and say there is bacon in a breakfast burrito, but there is only a few pieces, well that just doesn’t cut it. They hurt my feelings and that’s no bueno. The ham, so called bacon, eggs, and cheese breakfast burrito was of good size( ), and filled with unseasoned scrambled eggs and good ham, but for the bacon, there was perhaps small 4 pieces, along the sides of the flour tortilla.( ) I felt a little insulted to tell you the truth. At any rate, I added the salt and pepper after the first bite and some of their red hot sauce, and yes it tasted better( ), but then I encountered a few under cooked potatoes, that I spat out. Really, what next, is what I thought to my self. Nevertheless, I ate most of the burrito and left. I was really hungry. Service was okay, perhaps a little indifferent. My visit definitely left me feeling like I have had better, hence the two star rating. Unseasoned eggs are bland and tasteless, so please seasoned them, add more bacon, and make sure your potatoes are cooked all the way through, because unsuspecting patron may chomp down and get the hurt on. It has happen to me… Unilocal!
