Stopped in for a quick bite while moving last week, and the carnitas and carne asada tacos were AMAZING! The cashier was super friendly and helped guide me in my ordering. I love the salsa bar… A girl needs her options! OH, and they sell tortillas and chips… Sorry personal trainer… Summer diet is out the window!

It may be called Porkyland, but their Chicken Mole is the best.

We stopped in for dinner after reading great Unilocal reviews. The location is easy to find with lots of parking. Couple other restaurants here too, in case others in your family/group want something different. Based on the recommendation of the cashier, we ordered the«Super Nachos» with Carne and the Enchilada plate. Nachos were just ok. Very little cheese. Carne had great flavor. When you order nachos, you expect some cheese though. The enchiladas were good. Not great. After finishing the meal, I was wishing we had ordered different dishes. They have a salsa bar with 3 salsas: mild, hot and Muy Caliente. I was hoping to torture myself a bit with the Muy Caliente, but it seemed as mild as the mild. The hot wasn’t much spicier. They have peppers at the salsa bar which were hot. I recommend chopping a couple up and mixing them in. Their carrots are excellent. Great flavor. And at the salsa bar for you to enjoy while waiting for your food. Overall this place earned 3.5 stars. You gotta earn the entire 4th star for me to round up. Prices– reasonable, service– great, food –good. I am anxious to come try their carnitas or carne in a different dish and hope I can push their stars up with a follow-up review.

This place rocks! The original reason we stopped here is because their name is hilarious. The food is amazingly tasteful. I got the protein al pastor plate and my husband had tacos where the cheese was fried onto the tortillas. But the best part was they had carrots and onions on the salsa bar which are out of this world. Not to salty, or too much vinegar but just right. Oh man I wish I could get a whole bucket of it. If we are back in the area we stop be stopping here.

Service is good and it’s clean. Food is not traditional but then again no burrito is tradition Mexican. It’s your American style food and of course would fit perfectly into this area. Salsa was nice and chunky and fresh. I’ll try it again and try something other then the carne Asada burrito.

This place rocks! The food is delicious, reasonably priced, semi unique items and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating!!! You have to try it if you like Mexican, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t that lives in SD!

Insanely good burritos. Great food, awesome menu, and very very good salsa. The food is incredible and it’s fun to eat and watch the rich white people gaze at us blue collar types. Funny they sometimes snub their noses at us but without guys like us they wouldn’t have nice things built where they live. Just an observation haha. All the same food is great, just not a fan of the neighborhood uppity types. Go out of your way to get a burrito here. They are worth it every single time. Good stuff.

I could have sworn that I reviewed Porkyland before but it must have slipped through the cracks. I’ve been several times and often bring the kids that I babysit over too. Everyone loves Porkyland and it’s great to have a Mexican option close to the Ocean Air area. Before Porkyland, I’d take the kids to either Rubios or Chipotle and honestly I don’t care for either of those two options. Porkyland is so much better! This tastes like real Mexican food and not the Americanized version. I’ve tried the California burrito and the steak quesadilla and both are wonderful. My only slight complaint about the California burrito is that the guacamole has chunks of onion and I despise onion so I’ve started to order the burrito with no guacamole. But there’s plenty in the burrito to make up for omission and the fries, steak, cheese and sour cream create a substantial burrito and I’m only able to eat about half. The steak quesadilla is also good for two meals for me, but I am a lighter eater than most. The kids that I babysit love the cheese quesadilla and bean burritos. My only initial issue with Porkyland was the name. I don’t eat pork and I was apprehensive about the place, as I assumed it was a pork-centered restaurant. I was very relieved to hear that it was Mexican instead! :)

This place is great. Close to work. Yummy tacos. Line and wait for food can be long but if you order right it’s worth it. Bonus points for a discount if you work locally. Owner seems to always be there and he is always looking to make the experience as best as possible.

Seriously had the best tacos. Carne asada was unreal. Loved the spicy carrots as well. I recommend the green salsa for the Carne. And a Mexican coke of course!

Friendly staff! I asked what napolitas is(it’s cactus) and they asked if I’d like to try it before ordering. They even grilled up some fresh. Porky burrito was great. Had a cheese stuffed chile inside the burrito.

They have home made cactus tortillas, which are a blend of nopales, corn and wheat. They are interesting I had them on my Baja Chicken tortilla soup, which was excellent for $ 6 very creamy with lots of veggies and flavor. The bean and cheese burrito on the other hand sucked. I am a big bean and cheese burrito freak. I get them everywhere. I love them with black beans and always add pico. This one was the tiniest little burrito and there appeared to be no cheese at all just a lot of tortilla. I took it home and loaded it up with pepper jack and it was better. But for $ 5.50 I expect CHEESE in my bean and cheese and more filling making it bigger. Beans are cheap come on guys stop being skimpy. I liked the red hot sauce best but both red and green lacked something.

How could anyone not like a eatery called«Porkyland»? Rhetorical question! Impossible! I had to have fish tacos because I am on a mission to find«the best fish tacos». You could well ask, «Fish tacos at Porkyland? Are you crazy?» Rhetorical question; Absolutely crazy. Their fish tacos were weak. Lack of seasoning. Al pastor? Bravo! Chicharone? Arriba! Stick to the pork at Porkyland amigos and you will not be disa-pork-ed. If you are close to Porkyland, give it a try.

Great place for mexican. Wife and son ordered the breakfast burrito and was probably top 5 on my list for breakfast burritos. I went out of my norm of carne asada burrito and ordered chilquiles plate. I must say, I am very impressed. I was full for the next 6 hours!!! Will come back and try the burritos.

Impressed. Porky’s is San Diego’s tortilla stalwart, so logically they decided to add taco shops to sell/use their famous product. I came in for a weekday lunch and was welcomed by their large chalkboard menu. Hopefully you previewed their menu online because there is a lot to choose from and there isn’t a lot standing space up front. Deborah’s Special(Carne Asada and Nopalitos). You know a place serves good burritos when the tortillas come out with those dark brown spots on them. Cheaper tortillas don’t have those. Deborah’s Special was a solid burrito stuffed with steak and those slightly pickled cactus pieces. At first it was interesting to eat the cactus inside but it added a lot flavor to the burrito. Also, their green salsa was amazing. I’d order this again. It also came with a handful of tortilla chips. In summation, this is a great place that’s close to my work. Sold four stars. — Of course they sell their legendary tortillas here.

We drove down to celebrate my cousin’s son’s birthday during the day. We stayed afterwards to help clean up after the party and my cousin and her husband decided to take us out for dinner. We came to Porkyland. They serve breakfast all day and serve tortas, salads, quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, and burritos. They also have a Kid’s Meal menu. I ordered a Carne Asada burrito($ 7.75) and my husband got chicken tacos and Horchata. You can make anything a combo by adding rice & beans for an additional $ 1.95.(Although they are named«Porkyland» maybe we should have tried some pork LOL). I usually don’t eat burritos, but was craving one for some reason and their carne asada burrito hit the spot. I couldn’t finish the entire thing and gave the rest to my husband. The chicken in their tacos also have plenty of flavor. They have a large outdoor seating area with lights hanging overhead. Other than the Carmel Valley location, they have another one in La Jolla. 153⁄100 Reviews for 2015

Porkyland is one notch above your typical San Diego taco shop… its cleaner, sleeker, with fast friendly service. You’ll get your food pretty quickly. $ 7.75 for the Carnitas Burrito… tasty, but could be a bit bigger, or cheaper. $ 3.75 for the tasty Al Pastor Tacos… tasty, but seems just a tad overpriced. r – ” ̄ ” -, «OINK!» /´ _«- , _ /k 彡 ‘ \ . l / ̄ ‘ ヽノ l .l /l . l ヽ-’ X 、 ヽ X _».ヽ ’, 、 «» , — «‘ l . し’ ‘ 、 ( /ソ/ ‘ 、 _‘ ” «/ し – ” Then again, this is Del Mar/Carmel Valley, so prices here are generally higher than the rest of southern San Diego County. But if you live in this neighborhood, chances are you well-to-do and can easily afford the slightly higher prices.

I am obsessed with this place. Porkyland is located in the spot where Brugger’s Bagels used to be. It’s a 1 million % improvement. Everything on their menu is delicious, you really cannot go wrong here. I recommend the queso tacos and anything chimichanga style. And the nachos. And everything else. Seriously though, I am a creature of habit and usually get the same thing everywhere I go. Not here! Porkyland’s menu is large and amazing. I love all of it! They also have a salsa bar with 3 types of salsa and maybe a few other items. I always get the green salsa. Additionnaly they have their own outdoor seating! Score! I always recommend parking in the back«secret» lot — Parking out front is messy.

I’ve not had a bad meal yet here, and it’s within my stomping grounds… So I’ll keep coming back. Tasty tacos al pastor and California burritos. Salsa bar has 3 salsas to choose from with fresh peppers and carrots. I like to buy their fresh made tortilla chips and pico de gallo salsa for take home.

I was lucky to have stumbled upon Porkyland in Carmel Mountain. I was misled to this place by what I thought their name, Porkyland, had implied. Expecting to view a listing of pork sandwiches and baby back ribs, I perused an easy to read chalkboard menu of… Mexican food(?), as I stood in line before reaching the counter. Better still! I would describe the décor as Mexican à la mode. The inside seating had smart, colorful plastic-coated wicker chairs for easy cleaning and metal stools lining the food bar. A cool, rustic mural on a mock brick wall read, ‘Tacos 50 cents’. One side door led to a small outdoor patio area with wooden chairs, the area barred off from its neighboring restaurants. I ordered a Taquiza combo with mini Chicken Mole, Chicharrón Rojo, and Carnitas tacos that came with rice, beans and chips. It was reasonably priced at $ 9.20. I also ordered a good-sized Pastor Quesataco for $ 3.95. The ingredient to meat ratio was perfect in each taco. Just the right amount of seasoning, sauce(if any), onions, cilantro, and meat. I especially enjoyed the crunch of the Chicharrón Rojo and the unexpected chocolate taste in the Chicken Mole taco. The chips were thankfully not greasy. And, yes I ate EVERYTHING myself. As I ate my meal, I watched a woman bring plates from the counter to the eager patrons sitting outside. She smiled at me as she passed by, but stopped to ask how I liked my food. Deborah was her name, who I found out was one of the owners. I replied that I really enjoyed everything. I was impressed to learn that it had only been the fourth day the restaurant had been open at this location and it seemed like they were already off to a great start. In fact, when I arrived, it wasn’t even noon and the place was already bustling. Later, I had observed Pepe, Deborah’s husband, checking the condiment bar and kindly instructing one of the staff to be sure the area was kept clean and replenished at all times. I admire owners who have a lot of pride in their restaurants, who aren’t afraid to actually work, and who are sincere in wanting to get to know their customers. I look forward to coming here again and have already recommended this restaurant to some of my coworkers, when I returned from my lunch. On my next visit, I would like to try their Nopalitas Quesadilla, Porky’s Signature, or Deborah’s Special. A bag of Cactus Tortillas sounds interesting too.
