This place is gone! Adiós. Bye-bye. Just another empty storefront.

The directions/location were terribly misleading. It took us a while to find & when we did it was a hole in the wall. It wasn’t busy, but when we got in the staff were lukewarm and very young(ie– college freshman?). I asked about a product they were selling on consignment and no one seemed to know what it cost. Brilliant. The toys are cool — my son liked it, but if the playhouse were busy I can see where it would be messy. My neighbor came with me, & she left her wallet after a coffee purchase. When she called to ask them to hold it they«didn’t have a wallet». Two days later the owner/manager found her wallet sans cash. They blamed the cleaning personnel, however, it seems odd that if someone found it the staff didn’t see it as we knew exactly where she left it on the counter. Doubt I’ll head back.

A place where SAHM’s(aka Stay At Home Moms for you non-parent net lingo people) can go and commiserate with other moms over coffee and watch their kids play. Welcome to Stay At Home Mom hell. The type of moms that go to this place are clicky, bitchy or look at you like you’re a total freak(aka my category). Playhouse Café, while has a good concept, fails in comparison to other places that have the similar theme and vein. Maybe I went on a bad day, but the place was packed, a mess, there was no child monitor in the play area and there were so many kids and toys in the play area that it wasn’t conducive for good play. Playhouse Café lacks style, décor and space. It’s location is also very unfortunate, tucked away in a tiny strip mall with little parking. With so many moms and screaming kids, it doesn’t really allow any kind of reprieve away from home. Sure, they offer«spa services» but I don’t see how anyone can relax with the background noise of screaming, crying children. A good percentage of the moms dump their kids in the play area and don’t pay attention to what their kids are doing. When there is no monitor it’s a total no-no but these chicks don’t care that their princess is being a total brat. Again, defeating the purpose of the whole«relax, have a latte while your kid plays» concept.

Great concept! Great People and good coffee to boot! The playground supervisor we had was awesome, kids did not want to leave her! A really fun playground for kids up to about 6. The owners are always around and being they are parents too they really ‘get it’. They have something called spa nights where they offer all kinds of spa treatments for what I am told is a very reasonable price(I’m a guy, don’t really know what the prices are like for these things, but the women around me seemed to be very impressed) Oh yeah! Try the thin mint… It tastes just like the cookie!

I would give this place 4 stars but the décor kills me! I wish it had more of a fun and hip coffee house vibe. It’s a little too strip mall. They need to redecorate pronto! Also the owners are little too much in your face, which is sweet and nice but I just want to relax for a second and not hear every last detail of what it going on at the playhouse café that month! Apart form all that I love this place. My daughter and the girl I nanny for can not get enough of playhouse café. There is a blonde woman who works in the play area during the afternoons who is a complete sanity saver. I literally can idly sit for a good hour and half without having to worry about the girls. It’s awesome! The blonde lady plays with them and resolves any and all conflict. She is the best! I also love that it is never super crowded. Although I haven’t signed my daughter up for any classes I most likely will because they have a ton to choose from and terrific prices! I hope this place makes it!

Tucked away in a little mall at the end of Mission Gorge is this little gem for all those SAHMs that need to get out of the house, grab some coffee and let the kids go nuts indoors. This«mommy friendly» coffee shop offers a decent selection of kids food and a nice wooden tower for the kids to play King of the Castle or Rapunzel. The one thing that separates this place from similar«mommy friendly» coffee houses is the Pampering Studio. Decently priced massages include childcare while you’re in a private room relaxing your bones. They’re planning to include mani/pedis sometime soon. I can’t wait until that happens! The one thing missing is a menu with more variety. Can’t wait to try out a birthday party here!
