Pinnacle On the Park

Today I went into their office today and was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality. I don’t know if I recall her name but I think it was Priscilla. She was so informative and was able to answer all of my questions. The facilities had everything I was looking for. The units were designed in a way that I personally don’t like but there is lots of room to make it your personality. I am just impressed on the sales agent, she did a great job. I might have to hire at my company.

We just recently moved into the building and to be honest there were a few minor hiccups, it’s a new building and moving is never easy but the reason for the 5 star review is because the staff (Moises, Olivia and Doris) were very responsive, helpful and worked with us to get any of our concerns resolved. The staff is incredibly friendly and I believe that if you treat people with kindness and respect it will be reciprocated.
For example, we purchased an extra parking spot, we have a toddler and I’m pregnant with our 2^nd on the way… Moises and Olivia both went out of their way to find the perfect parking spot for me that would give us plenty of room to open my car doors far enough it get a fiery toddler in without damaging the car next to us and be able to lift the infant seat in without dinging any cars around us with our door. I wasn’t happy with the first spot or second one but we finally found one on the third try that fit my criteria. I know a parking spot doesn’t sound like a big deal, but I was really stressed about it (crazy pregnant lady alert!) and they kept moving me until I was happy.
I really do appreciate the staff here and I’m grateful they have been so helpful, we look forward to making this out home for the next few years!

This place is a joke! If you are military DONT rent here! We are military and they are so disrespectful to military! Read the other military comments below too!
First off we take a tour and one of the units they show us smells like straight urine! They said it’s just the way it smells if you don’t flush the toilet after awhile… ok so if I leave for a few weeks on vacation my place is going to smell like pee when I get back?! Lol… wow ok… the place was dirty as well!
Second we find a apartment we want and send in our applications. We didn’t hear back so decided to call and found out they rented our apartment from under us! I told Doris (sales agent) that we had told the other places we were looking at we found a place because she said the apartment we wanted would be held for us with applications in and fees. Now we have no place!
After calling the leasing office and emailing her and two other managers for the last few days they haven’t tried to solve the situation or make it right! I haven’t even got a call back which I was told I would when the manager came in at 7am today! Ha! Doris says, «Well I’m a salesperson so I needed to make the sale» I mean really?
I know very well how being a salesperson works. I’ve been in sales half my life, most recently for a timeshare company called Wyndham that deals with high pressure sales. Even doing that, in a highly competitive business where my job is on the line, I sincerely understand the importance of customer service. I know that customer service goes hand-​in-​hand with sales. I would never let a sale get in the way of my customer service or negatively affect my customer service ability; being in sales you know that.
I wound never let my personal agenda reflect poorly on the company I work for either.
This again is highly unprofessional. Being in sales anyone would know that we wanted the unit and you could have leased another unit to the other applicants. That’s two sales instead of one, that’s sales! I guess we should have read all the other poor comments first. Come to find out my friend lives in the unit and is trying to move out because of their lack of communication and fixing things in a timely manner! I will edit this if they step up and right the wrong if not it will be left the same!

I’m disappointed wit the leasing office. I’m currently getting ready to move to SD from the east coast. Leasing Office can’t answer any of my questions, haven’t emailed me floor plans, and do not return phone calls. I’ve reached out over 5 times and I have given up on living in this building. I asked the leasing office if someone can text or email me photos of the apartment, since i can’t physically view the units before i sign, but this request was declined. Funny thing is the other apartments I’ve spoken with have send me photos within the day.

over all disappointed in this place. Over priced for the facilities offered. The gym is inadequate and awkwardly echoes. The «common area» also has the same problem, it’s uncomfortable to be there. The pool area also uncomfortable, because you’re on display and people walk by in the park, walk up to the glass and ask «how is it living here?» «How much do you pay» and it’s unpleasant to say the least. Again, same issue with the grilling area. We don’t have hot water in the mornings. It’s a really loud street to be on. If you’re facing the bridge. Expect an 80 degree apartment or a $ 200 -$ 300 electric bill. There’s guest parking, but only for two hours, so don’t ask friends to spend the night or anything. Also you’re supposed to have a business center, nope.
I’m military so when I received PCS orders I cancelled my lease, and then got a call from the manager once they found out I’m not moving «far away enough». The manager said I have to pay all termination fees, because I’m not deploying. Except he’s wrong, I read back the military clause he made me sign in my lease and I haven’t done anything wrong. So he is bringing the «attorneys» into play. Still waiting to see how this plays out.
It’s just not a nice place to live for the money. It’s uncomfortable and won’t be your «home».

I’ve lived here since day 1 and I would definitely recommend this building to anybody who’s looking to move downtown. Some of the negative reviews on here are ridiculous. The park next to the building is completely safe and even has security at night. You can go there any time of the day and find kids playing soccer and residents walking their dogs. The staff here is amazing! Very friendly, knowledgeable, and rational. Props to them for having to deal with some of the rude people they encounter. The views from all sides of the building are great and the apartments themselves are practical and nicely updated. 5 stars for Pinnacle on the Park.

FROM A CURRENT RESIDENT;
I have lived in East Village for over 15 years and am a current resident of Pinnacle on the park and have been since they opened 5 months ago.
There have been many adjustments here as there are with any new building and through it all, the staff have exceeded my expectations. They have always gone out of the way to make the residents satisfied.
The location is prime and the amenities are far better than most places downtown. If you are looking for the best place in East Village to live, this is it.

Went for a tour of the Pinnacle building in downtown and was blown away of the wonderful views. Moises our tour guide took us to many available units on different floors with different views, it was beautiful. I have definitely found the right high rise in downtown and would recommend this building over any other in downtown San Diego! They also have one of the nicest party rooms I have seen with a industrial size kitchen. Go check it out for yourself…

LOVE LOVE LOVE! After checking out multiple apartment buildings in downtown San Diego, I fell in love with Pinnacle on the Park. Doris is so amazing, nice and accommodating. She showed me about 20+ units until my fiancé and I found the perfect one for us. We move in next week and I can’t wait!

I seldom change my reviews but I had to give Pinnacle on the Park another chance after speaking with the new manager and agreeing to take another look, which worked out because we were actually in the market for another apartment.
We stopped in yesterday and met with Peter. I knew of Peter as he was previously in management at a property we lived in upon first moving to San Diego. I figured if he was now here it must be running better! I remember him being great to work with. We stopped in on Friday afternoon and had a good talk with him about our previous experience noted in my prior review of Pinnacle.
What seemed to be the issue last time was that we were shown apartments that were not ready for move-​in and had not been cleaned since the construction of them was completed. I can totally understand that.
Anyways, we got a great tour and were able to see several units with several different views. Peter was very friendly and able to answer all of our questions and spent ample time with us showing us around. We also were able to tour the amenities (pool, gym, etc) and they were very nice and clean. We did not see those last time so it helped to get the full picture this time. Peter went over pricing, different floor plans and views, and really took the time to make it right and provide us all the info we needed. We are actually considering moving into this building as a lot of the issues I reviewed before have been remedied and everyone we encountered seemed professional and nice. Definitely impressed with what they have done.

I was looking for a high rise and despite the nasty Unilocal reviews here, I was surprised by how nice the building was.
Everyone was very friendly at the front and accomadating. I booked an appointment and Doris took me for the tour and was very patient even though I wanted to look at 10+ different apartments and views. The views of Coronado and downtown from this building are pretty nice.
Pros: close to downtown, more quiet than central gas lamp, east village is coming up with lots of good places to eat
Cons: less communal feel compared to little Italy

Do not live here! WORST PLACE I’ve ever lived! They don’t care if you have hot water… Or your car broken into… Walls not painted? They don’t care… Urine stains in your bathroom when you move in… Don’t care. Have an emergency? No one to get a hold of! Luxury living… Oh and the indecent exposure of the vagrants living around… No one cares! Awesome.

I was so excited to move into this beautiful new apartment, the price seemed too good to be true! and that’s because it is too good to be true. I am one of the first people to move into this apartment and I can already tell that the gym that is advertised is way too small! it is always crowded since there is 10 machines in a 45 story building! And I doubt there will be another gym built with the second 45 story building going in later this year. 90 stories of apartments get to share 10 machines… that is the first thing I am very unhappy with. The park that is beautiful will be destroyed within a couple of months with all of the homeless people that lay around it all day and night. The apartment says they have ²⁴⁄₇ security that is supposed to move the homeless people along, but I only see security inside behind a computer, not outside shooing the scary people out of dark corners. This building also advertises that there will be cooking classes, but I haven’t heard anything about them from the staff, or seen any posters put up about them. I love how I get to pay for a beautiful apartment when in reality its not very good at all. I really hope that something major changes or I definitely wont be renewing my lease.

I love my apartment. For the area and amenities, it is fairly priced. Unfortunately, I have serious concerns about the security of this building as well as the hold management has on efficiently managing it.
Within the last week, they began opening up our garage to public event parking for Padres games. This has been extremely irritating. The last thing I want to do after getting home from a long day of work is wait in a line of cars to get into the garage and to my parking space. Then, since not all four elevators consistently work — for whatever reason, you have to wait and wait and wait to cram into a packed elevator full of people who don’t even live there! This means when I click on my floor number, they can just ride up with me and access my floor and take the stairs to any other floor in the building. How was this not thought about? How was the safety of the residents who live here not put into any consideration?
Last night several cars were broken into in our «secure» garage. Here’s the kicker, they only have cameras at the gate. This means, they are letting people park in our garage who do not live there and do not even have cameras to monitor these people as they break into our vehicles and steal our belongings. This is infuriating and unacceptable. We had our car window shattered and items stolen out of our car. To be frank, we’re lucky that it was only our car that was damaged. The window was shattered by what I would imagine to be a bat or a crowbar. Imagine what would happen if I happened to walk out to my car while this was going on. What could have happened to myself or any other resident for that matter? And guess what, they would have gotten away with it because there are only cameras at the gate! It makes me cringe thinking about the atrocities that could have and are waiting to happened due to the lack of security in this building!
It concerns me because this building is only about 30% occupied and there are already so many issues. What is it going to be like when it is 75% occupied? If things keep up the way they have been, it’s going to be a disaster. I really hope management takes this as an opportunity to show their residents that they actually value their safety and turn this around for the better because this place has so much potential.

Overpriced apartments in the heart of San Diego’s ghetto. Homeless all around. Not a safe neighborhood and don’t believe their advertised pricing. It’s a joke just to get you in to see them. $ 1600 more like $ 2000 – 2200 for a one bedroom 600 square feet. What a joke. Oh and don’t show up at 5:30. Their last tour ends at 5pm even though they are open until 6pm. Girl in the office polite but condescending. Don’t waste your time or your safety. Run fast. Their are plenty of rentals in San Diego in a better neighborhood and a better price.

My boyfriend and I had a holding deposit on a 2 bd 2 bth here, which we voluntarily gave up. The units are beautiful: stunning views, fabulous kitchens, somewhat small bedrooms. They don’t always answer their phones. Our leasing guy, Phil, was WONDERFUL! He showed us all the different layouts that were available and was patient with our debating and decision making process. It just worked out that we found a unit which suits our needs better in a different building, but I still appreciate the time and effort given to us by Phil.

Haven’t been satisfied with the communication of the pinnacle staff and their management company sunrise management. I was excited to move into a beautiful new building downtown but was never informed they were waiting for their certificate of occupancy from the city when I left the deposit.
Being in the real estate industry myself, I know that the pinnacle is not in complete control of when they will receive this from the city, but they need to understand that their residents are moving in from all over the country and may not have alternative living arrangements. Still the last day before the scheduled move in they were hopeful for a occupancy by the end of that day. A simple phone call to the city confirmed my doubts that they were still a couple of weeks out. If I had not followed up the day before, I would have literally shown up with a moving van with no communication that the building was not yet ready for move in!
To say the least, this Mis-​communication or should I say total lack of communication has cost me hundreds in hotel rooms, re-​shipping charges and storage fees. Afterwords, the staff was very apologetic but could only offer words such as «we know moving can be stressful». Only stressful because you haven’t.been in communication! I have moved countless times all over the world without a hiccup like this. would have expected at least for them to offer an alternative living arrangement in the interim for a problem they should have assumed, but no attempt of a restitution has been made from them. This has caused serious trust of the management and I would be weary of living at the pinnacle or any other property by thus management company.
May have been a blessing in disguise. I have since moved elsewhere, have 200 more square feet, and live in a better neighborhood for a lesser price.

I saw this place a few weeks ago after searching for a new place in SD and seeing Pinnacle I knew immediately this was going to be my new home. My move in date was delayed, but this is as expected with any new property. My last two places were both brand new properties and both got delayed due to push backs on move in dates from it not being ready and the city not letting them release the keys. The apartments are very nice and luxurious. The views from the apartments are incredible. It is a relaxed and fun environment and the amenities are top notch. There’s also a park on the property and a nearby restaurant and bar on the other end of the park. The staff here is top notch. I met with Katie Blum (the leasing director) and she was great. She was more than happy to show me several different apartments and answer all my questions. The whole process has been smooth, other than the push backs on move in, which again is to be expected when moving to any new property. I’ve seen other reviews that people have had trouble getting a hold of the office, but whenever I call they have answered or I get a response in a timely manner. It has been frustrating that the move in has been put off, but again it can happen with any new property and in the long run I think this place is going to be great and I will be very happy I chose Pinnacle on the Park.

The Management is already starting off sour.
My husband and I were excited to move here. We lived two blocks from this place and literally witnessed the entire process of the building going up right out of our living room windows. We were excited to find out they would be opening (Aug. 1) right around the time our current lease would end. As soon as the leasing office opened, we immediately signed a lease in June to move in Aug. 3, due to the elevators being booked for the 1^st and 2^nd. As others stated, we received the same vague email less than 48 hours prior to the grand opening. Aug. 1 comes and we decided to ride by, to check it out. No one was onsite except the construction workers. I contacted the property manager whose cell number was on the vague email and left her voicemail checking to make sure we were still scheduled to move in. Later in the evening someone calls my husband informing him we would not be able to move and they were not sure when we would be able to. Then, the property manager whom I called, sends me a text with the same information… how professional. Great news to find out two days before you are supposed to move. We had to go to our current leasing office to see if we were allowed to stay another week, while we wait. Luckily we were and interesting enough, two different residents who were supposed to move into Pinnacle that day were in our office moving in.
Now I could continue on with the series of events, but I’ve said enough. However, we were finally informed we could move in a week after we were supposed to (after accruing over $ 500 in extra charges paying day by day rent and living out of packed boxes), but we were going to have move down a few floors, being they were only cleared to open ten floors. I asked management what were they prepared to do to for the residents they severely inconvenienced to make it right? NOTHING. That alone has made us completely disregard them as a future residence. If management doesn’t care about their residents before they even move in when IT WAS COMPLETELY THEIR FAULT, NOT THE CITY, that we couldn’t move in, why would I feel comfortable calling them home? It was a blessing in disguise because we have found a condo with 400 additional square feet for $ 200 less in rent with the same amenities. It is very unfortunate because we really looked forward to calling Pinnacle home, but their management ruined that.

DO NOT RENT HERE. I was supposed to move in tomorrow and have my whole life packed and my husband flying in to help with the move. They do not have the required city permits to allow move-​ins. NO ONE TOLD ME THIS. (Where did you think I was going to live tomorrow Pinnacle?) The only indication I received was a vague email LAST NIGHT basically saying they are «close to approval.» Today I went to their offices to try and talk to someone since no one was answering their phones, and I was met with a construction crew that told me the leasing offices were closed. So I walked into a construction trailer trying to get some answers. A man jumped on the phone telling the other end that «people keep coming in yesterday and today trying to reach someone»…Um, yes, because we are all MOVING. The best this company could say to me is «if you need to find another place we understand.» That’s only part of the story, because I need to go find another apartment to move into within the next 12 hours. AGAIN– DO NOT RENT HERE.
