Entrada Apartments

If you move into this apartment you will regret it. We lived here for 2 years during this time the management changed twice. They litterally changed our move out date from a one year lease to a 14 month lease and refused to let us move out. The management is shady, ignores problems, steals from residents, and is overall just crappy at their job. The building is infested with bugs, homeless people are all over, and a guy hung himself in the parking garage, and people smoke crack in the doorway. Do not move here.

If you are a future law school student and are considering leasing at Entrada check out the apartment and its location before you move in. The elevators are always smelly and beware they tend to get stuck. In the morning and at night you might encounter homeless going to the bathroom on the side of the building. Current leasing price for a studio is $ 1380 (with one parking spot only) no guest parking. Good luck finding street parking.

As you see the negative comments about this place are deleted as soon as they are posted. This place is horrible. Homeless people everywhere! One women I met here who was also a student went outside and the homeless women demanded her to give her 20 dollars and wouldn’t leave her alone such a scary experience. These homeless people yell and curse at night it’s so hard to sleep at night. Ghetto isn’t even the word to use for this place. More like hell! This place is dangerous. My mother went out to take our dog to potty and a homeless man whipped he’s penis out in front of my mom and stared at her! What the hell! Do not come here you will regret it ! They will prob delete this and I will continue to repost.

Entrada is the student housing for Thomas Jefferson School of Law. If you are a new first year law student, this is a great place live.
1. The rent is through the school. This means that you can use financial aid to pay the rent and it is pretty seamless to get it set up.
2. For students that qualify academically or by other means, grants can be provided to subsidize housing costs.
3. Location, location, location — So you aren’t living in the nicest area downtown but remember you are a Student in law school. What’s more important than living literally a rock throwing distance away from the school? For those not familiar with the area it is refreshing to know that looking out your window is the school. You won’t get lost or have to break even the slightest bit of a sweat to get to school. (coming from phoenix, the last thing I wanted to do was have to walk a long distance and get sweaty before a class).
4. 13^th & Island Avenue is technically East Village, but still considered the Gas Lamp District and you have all the upscale restaurants that San Diego is known for in a mere five minute walk down on 5^th avenue, Seaport Village, or really anywhere downtown.
5. No need to drive. On Park, one street away, is the trolly stop. The school can hook you up with a $ 25 monthly pass to ride as much as you need. An all day pass costs $ 5 at the station. The trolly can take you all over down town and to all bus stations, which can get you to the beaches for a little R&R.
6. There are a few farmers markets in walking distance. Little Italy is more of a 20 minute walk and a bit further away, but there is an Albertsons, a discount Grocery Outlet, and a Ralphs (kroger Inc) all within a block or a mile away.
7. Pets? Furry tails and Market Veterinarians is right around the corner as well, on Park and Market. Everyone in the neighborhood walks their dogs and the city is all around pet friendly.
8. Morning Munches? Stop by Brooklyn Bagels or Starbucks before class and grab a bite to eat. Now there is Tom & Tom’s coffee shop competing right across the street from Starbucks. All are basically on the same block as TJSL.
9. Piece of mind. Renters Insurance isn’t required, but I’m an advocate for it and mine costs $ 15 for 6 months for the address/​zip code. You also can plan on reducing your driving down to a «pleasure» rate with your insurance company. You’ll go days without driving which obviously saves on gas as well.
10. Roof top catered gatherings sponsored by either Entrada & TJSL. Throughout the year Entrada shows their appreciation by hosting catered roof top gatherings with vendors from around the community. You can also reserve the roof top for your own private party.
11. Like minded people — You won’t hear a crying baby or have little kids stomping on your ceiling. For the most part, every resident in Entrada is a law student. There are a few alumni and some of those that had lived here before TJSL contracted with the building. Everyone is conscious of the fact of when it is Finals time and people are courteous of your study environment here. Everyone wants to do well and we don’t all love to sit in the library to do our homework. Some of us like doing it in the comfort of our apartment.
12. The Gym. Entrada has a small yet nice gym on the first floor that has treadmills, free weights, and is a convenient way to get a good workout in if you don’t have the motivation to run oceanside near the harbor. There are other neighborhood alternatives if you desire a membership.
13. Security Guards — ²⁴⁄₇ security is nice. You’ll get to know the security guards and they are friendly and professional.
14. Maintenance — I saved the best for last. Oscar is amazing!!! Everyone here loves him. He is the maintenance person in charge here and we are lucky to have him. Currently we have Hector as well and he is great too! If anything is ever wrong you can contact the main office and they are there to help. It isn’t just the expeditious service that sets them apart, but more so their interactions with you. They are above and beyond the most respectful and genuinely caring people you’ll meet. The are passionate and take pride in keeping the building up to standard and making sure you are comfortable. They really go out of their way.

I don’t know what Julie H is complaining about. I’ve stayed here for two nights in a six by six closet and RARELY heard any noise going on the complex.
Most of the residents are students who attend Jefferson Law School, and the building is very high tech compared to the apartments in Honolulu.
I will agree on one note that there are NO security during major holidays, as I didn’t see one when I stayed there for Thanksgiving.
As with Downtown San Diego, the cost of renting is not cheap, but if you’re looking for a little more space, I’ve also seen the apartments on Market and 13^th above Albertsons. Same layout, but a much bigger complex compared to Entrada.
