I love this place. We always go here for the chicken pad thai and thai iced tea and they never disappoint! They give a very generous serving of pad thai and it tastes great. The thai tea, unlike other boba places, has more flavor to it. You can actually taste the tea and it doesn’t taste like it’s just sugar dumped in water. We go here so much since we leave close by. We had to control ourselves to only go once a week.

This was only an OK experience for me. The staff was fabulous but the food was average. The beef pad Thai was fairly tasteless. However, the Tom Kha was really good! I liked the really big chunks of veggies. I probably won’t go out of my way to go here again though since there at least 2 more Thai restaurants that are better in the general area.

Green curry I give it a 8… spice level is different here. A 2 is a med hot according to them. you need to go a couple up if you want it hot. 2 is way too mild. Other than the spice level it was very flavorful. Brown rice was mushy. Tom yum was good.

This place is fabulous. The service is fast and attentive. The décor is clean and simple. And obviously the food is worth the 5 stars alone. Plenty of gluten free/vegetarian options, which is so exciting for me! Spicy noodles were awesome and my husband really loved the Vegetable Bliss stirfry with rice. The Tom Yum soup was delicious, but for me a small bowl was enough for 2. The flavor is bold! We came here two days in a row because we needed to try more than our tummies could handle in one meal LOL. And we’ll be back! Oh! And they spice their dishes on a 1 – 10 scale. Be cautious! They aren’t joking haha.

This place is a hidden gem! Came here twice. Both times with the boyfriend. First time we had the summer rolls and the three flavored fish(specialty). Summer rolls were delicious and fresh and tasty with the peanut sauce. Three flavored fish was good as well as both of us polished it off with the rice that was given with it. Thai ice tea was good as well. Just the right amount of sweetness. Came here yesterday as my friend from out of town was here with his girlfriend. They were in the mood for Thai so we decided here as our other option was closed due to Memorial Day. We took a bit of time to order but once we did the food came out not too long after. We shared the appetizer platter where we got to try more that we have not had from this place. Everything was good. For the entrees we ordered a chicken pad thai and a kha toa which came with rice. Chicken pad thai went out pretty quick as it was tasty. And a spice level of 3 being medium. Same for kha toa with the spice level of 3. Customer service was great here as the food appeared not too long and we all had a great rime catching up while enjoying the food. Would definitely come again.

We ordered spring rolls, Thai tea and Panag curry. The food was good and spice level was perfect. The service was great and the ambiance is nice. The reason I gave 3 stars: I didn’t like there peanut sauce and the Panag curry was ok not great. Would come back though to try other stuff.

Having dined in yesterday, I’m sorry to say I need to lower my rating. It makes me sad too, because I really was loving this place, even though it’s more pricey than I’d prefer. Ordered the tofu red curry last evening. It was hot(temperature-wise) so I had several bites off the top. But then I began to mix the bottom to the top because it was cool enough to do so and my next bite was like taking a spoonful of straight up salt. I mixed more, and it was just making it all unbearably salty. I make Thai curry at home but don’t put anywhere near this much salt in it. They must have seen my face because the man came over and asked about it. I explained and he said they’d fix it right away and get me a new bowl. I had already added some rice to it since I’d been eating it. The same bowl came out, rice and all. Now, I might be completely wrong since this is California and not my home state, but I thought the health department says you can’t take a customer’s partially eaten bowl of food, adjust it in the kitchen and bring it back out. You have to start over. This is concerning. If they’re doing that to my food, maybe they’re doing that to others’ food as well? The reasons for the laws about it are to protect people from other people’s germs. How do I know that they’re not cross-contaminating new food by using same stirring utensil, pan, etc., that was used in half-eaten food? I was very happy they wanted to make it right, but this is a BIG concern for me.

Not busy at all. Super big restaurant but very empty. I ordered the pad Thai noodles and my husband ordered the yellow curry. I love how the portions are huge! But my pad Thai noodles were kind of bland. Their wasn’t much duck in my noodles either. The servers seemed over staffed and they barely came to my table. This Thai restaurant didn’t leave a memorable impression on me, and I’ve had better. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Horrible service. Asked for tom yum soup and was given some type of stir fry. Even when confirming our order, we distinctly asked for the soup after the appetizers. When the waitress brought the«stir fry», we told her we had asked for soup. She just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Didn’t eat the«stir fry», as we didn’t order a stir fry. Asked for the check and was still charged for the«stir fry». First and last time we will try Pattaya.

Went here for lunch with little time. Service is great and food was good. I was able to get in, eat, and get out in 25 min! The appetizer plate that comes with the lunch hits the spot. I like their soup. I ordered the pad Thai spicy 10 but more like a 6. Good nonetheless.

I came here mostly because I read that all the dishes can be substituted with gluten free soy sauce so I was excited to have pad see ew again instead of the usual pad thai that I get at local thai places in San Marcos. It’s worth the drive from San Marcos to come here to get great quality food with awesome service. They have tons of gluten free and vegan options on the menu! We came at 730pm on a Sunday night and the restaurant was 90% full. We were seated in the back corner but our server never forgot about us and was always so attentive! To start, we both got thai iced teas and the glasses they came in were huge! The thai iced teas were perfect: not too sweet, and not too much condensed milk. I ordered the beef pad see ew and my husband ordered the pork panang curry, both spicy level 6. I made sure with the server that both dishes were gluten free. On the menus they are marked gluten free but she said you have to ask for them to be specifically made gluten free if you wanted them to be prepared that way. The pad see ew had the perfect amount of spice, noodles and beef. I couldn’t even tell they used gluten free soy sauce! The panang curry was soooooo good! The best I’ve ever had! The texture was on point and it came with a side of white rice. There was an explosion of flavor with each bite! I wanted to eat more but I had to save room for my favorite dessert, mango sticky rice. I’m glad I did because the dessert did not disappoint… generous amount of sticky rice with half a large, ripe mango! My tummy was thoroughly satisfied and I can’t wait to return for more. Thank you, Pattaya!

FIRSTIMPRESSIONS My first visit was shortly after they opened. Since then, Pattaya has built a loyal customer base with their blend of great tasting food and super friendly staff. THEEATS What sets Pattaya apart from the pack is the option to make their dishes completely vegan. As a recovering vegetarian who was very close to vegan for several years, finding a Thai place that offers their recipe without shrimp paste or fish sauce is a rare treat. My go-to dish at every Thai restaurant is veggie Green Curry and the spicier the better! Pattaya doesn’t disappoint with loads of veggies, including broccoli(a personal favorite), eggplant, carrot, zucchini, bamboo shoots, and then some. While I do try other dishes, this is still my first thought when visiting. Give it a try if you haven’t had it before; it won’t disappoint. THEVERDICT Wrap all the tasty food in top-notch service and you’ll have some idea what it’s like being a guest at Pattaya Thai. Definitely GO visit this little suburban gem!

Two words: Drunken Wings. That’s all you need. Maybe a cold beer(they have a few on tap.) I’ve been to this place several times and the food is always great. I’ve tried a variety of items but my two favs are drunken wings spice level 8 and vegetable bliss w/chicken spice level 8. I could eat the drunken wings every day if given the opportunity. They have fried onions, chili’s, and lemongrass on top of them. The outside is crunchy, the inside is perfect. I can’t say enough about the wings. The service can be hit or miss, but usually it’s good. The interior of the place is nothing to write home about, but I’m not coming here for the view! If you’re in the neighborhood, give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Boyfriend and I found ourselves in Poway after an event and got hungry so we went looking for a place to eat. Found this highly recommended on Unilocal and so we gave it a shot. The restaurant is kind of hidden away in secluded little shopping center. It seems close to business offices so might be a popular place for work day lunch. We walked in and were really impressed with the elegant, modern interior decorations. Looking at their specials, it seems like they specialize in fish dishes, but we ended up ordering our usual thai dishes: Pad See Ewe and Panang Curry. We both got spice level 3 and it was pretty mild(but that’s what we wanted, so no complaints!). We also ordered the Fried Wontons for appetizer. They came out first. While I enjoyed the filling, the wonton wrappers were kind of tough and chewy. I was hoping for much crunch/crispiness. The Pad See Ewe was pretty standard, but it definitely hit the spot. My favorite dish of the night was the Panang Curry which we got with chinese sausage. I’ve never see chinese sausage in Panang Curry before and I liked how the bbq sweetness of the sausages complemented the curry which is usually already a bit sweet. The Panang Curry was pretty loaded with other veggies such as green beans, carrots, etc. I really enjoyed that as it made it feel a bit more hearty. I’ve been to several places where their Panang Curry is basically the curry sauce with a few peas and diced carrots so it was nice to see this one loaded. Overall, a good meal. At first glance it seems more on the expensive side of Thai restaurants compared to the family establishments I usually go to. Each dish was around $ 12 and the wontons were around $ 6. Then again, I think it’s because of the neighborhood and ambience. The portions were also pretty generous, so I think in the end it’s pretty fair.

Found this awesome place in RB to grab a nice dinner. Parking was easy, and service was really quick. Tom Ka Soup — rich in coconut milk flavor. Order it if you love it. Drunken Noodle — generous portions of noodles with a nice kick to them. Basil lovers rejoice! Crab Fried Rice — SO much rice. I liked the plating and how much crab was in it.

This restaurant is so hidden in this residential area! Came here for lunch, they have some really good lunch specials. All comes with a plate of appetizer including soup, a cream cheese wonton, a gyoza, and a small side of salad. Servers are all very attentive and friendly! I got drunken noodle in level 2, as you can tell I cannot take spiciness at all, however, I could use some more spice. Maybe I’ll go for a 4 next time… Anyway, the noodle dish was great. They’re generous with the portion also with the protein and veggie. I also really liked their Thai Tea! Will be back again to try other lunch specials!

10÷14÷15: Came here last week and liked it enough that I’m back a week later. This time, came here for dinner. Ordered Three Flavor Tofu(hands down my favorite dish), drunken noodle tofu, ginger stir fry chicken, and chicken larb. All dishes $ 10.95. Larb: $ 9.95. Still a good, solid 4 stars for me. Here’s how tonight’s dishes compare to SEL. Chicken larb: chicken wasn’t as ground up as SEL, nor was the lime flavor as infused. SEL wins on this one. I think if I’m craving larb I’ll order it at SEL. Ginger stir fry chicken was decent, pretty much same taste as SEL. For me, a little bland, and chicken was tough. I wouldn’t order it again. Drunken noodles very good… but dangit, I was talking business w/my dining companion so I totally forgot to order it authentic thai style(smokey flavor). They actually offered to remake it. Nice customer service, but I declined, as it was my fault for not ordering. Next time I’ll order it authentic thai style and if it’s how I like it, it’ll bump them up in my ratings :) Three Flavor Tofu: I haven’t had this dish at any thai place, so nothing to compare it to, but holy hot damn, YUM! Sauce is sweet, sour and salty. Ginger tea: too sweet for me. Service: excellent. Way better than SEL. This time around compared to my visit last week, our waitress kept coming by and refilling the water. Fast, friendly, efficient and again the fact that they offered to remake the drunken noodles. Service 5 stars! It was warm in there(went around 4pm) but cooler temps than SEL. They are also more expensive than SEL by ~$ 1 – 2 per dish and the serving size is fairly close to SEL. And still a little too salty for me. I’ll have them modify next time. I think I’ll know after my third visit… but I will say, so far, this has the greatest potential for being my alternative to SEL b/c their spiciness consistency is better and for certain entrees they give free white rice(you pay extra for brown). Overall, I’m happy and will be back. Original review 10÷6÷15 Conveniently located next to Club Pilates(#ClassPass Addict) in RB, I feel this is one of the better thai restaurants in No. County SD. I’m a pretty big Sab-E-Lee fan, so use that for comparison. Here is where Pattaya is better than Sab-E-Lee: — Has a Tuesday-Friday 11am-3pm lunch special. As of October 2015, pricing is: $ 7.95 tofu/veggie $ 8.95 chicken, pork, mock duck, chinese sausage $ 9.95 shrimp, beef, duck, calamari $ 11.95 seafood $ 1 if you substitute the white rice for brown rice(I really wish they wouldn’t do that. Paillin Thai lets you choose white/brown rice and it’s included in their lunch special) Lunch special includes rice, soup(a little salty for my taste), a tiny salad, egg roll(which is actually better than the typical bland egg roll that most thai places serve with their lunch specials), and a crab cream cheese wonton appetizer. All tasty. I had the hot basil spicy level 2(the waitress told me they’re spicier than typical thai place, so I erred on the side of caution, as I was on a business lunch). For me, I probably should’ve gone w/level 3. I love spicy food, but not to the point where you can’t taste it. This is the biggest problem with SEL(see my review) — their inconsistent spicy level every time. At least here, for my first visit, anyway, it seemed fairly on par with their spicy ratings. I also like that the food didn’t seem overly salty or too saucy. Portions of the actual entrée could be a little bigger though. I ate all of my food and it didn’t fill me up too long. lol maybe I’m just a thai food hog! Waitress service here is better than SEL(more attentive, friendlier). At first, I had to ask for water refills but after a couple of times, she started to initiate my refills. It’s a nice atmosphere too. A bit warm, would like more air conditioning, but cooler temps than SEL. Would be nice for a first date. Parking is way better here than SEL. Oh they don’t take AMEX. Oh and their bathrooms are gross just like SEL lol all asian restaurants’ bathroom floors are sticky. I’m coming back next week and if the spiciness is still consistent, if they can make drunken noodles authentic thai style(smokey flavor), and the other dishes we end up ordering are good(and if it includes rice), then I’ll know I found a real winner. So far, SEL has been my fave but with their spicy level being so inconsist(due to using authentic thai chillies), I am needing to find another alternative(the last few times we went there, hubby had to fix our SEL dinner). Anywhooooo, I know thai food lover Unilocalers in NCSD that look at thai restaurant reviews, I know we all compare it to SEL… so hope this helps. After I’ve come a few times, if everything remains consistent spicy and flavor wise, Pattaya will definitely be bumped up to 5 stars. Actually 4.5. If they open on Mondays too, and didn’t close for an hour daily, then 5 stars lol ;) Open Tue-Th: 11 – 3, then 4 – 9:30pm Friday: 11am-10pm Sat/Sun: 11:30am-9:30p

Found another promising Thai spot up north recently. I usually go to Sab E Lee, but wanted to scope out another place. Turned out to be not a bad a idea at all! We came in on a Sunday early evening for dinner and were greeted and seated promptly. The seating is nice… booth seating and big tables. We ordered everything in medium spice(4 – 5) so we could enjoy it without burning our tastebuds first! ANGELWINGS — One of the better ones I’ve tried at any Thai place I’ve been! Instead of just deep fried… they are PANKO fried. Yummmmmm… TOMYUM soup with the mushroom medley: Really yummy and the mushrooms were perfect! I’d definitely order it only this way from now on. SPICYTHAI seafood fried rice — Really good, the rice was cooked perfectly and not too dry or soggy. Thai papaya salad — I actually like Sab E Lee’s better than Pattaya’s. Pattaya was a little too sweet I think. Kinda like a funky sweet. All in all though, I think this place brings some good competition to Sab E Lee… PQ’s location at least.

I have no idea why the stars for this place is so high. I did not enjoy my experience here. First of all, the service was subpar. They were standoffish, and weren’t attentive. Had the crab rangoon, thai iced tea, spring rolls, pad thai, and drunken noodles. The crab rangoons were only okay, and my gosh the spring rolls were HUGE. I did not like that. What I hated most was that I ordered the drunken noodles mildy spicy, but when I took a bite it was the spiciest thing I had ever tasted. My throat was on fire! I told the server to take it back because it was way too spicy for my taste, and she looked at me like I was crazy. I hated that. Even more, was that they didn’t even comp it for me. I’ve never seen that before. You call that customer service? Avoid.

We came here for post work out grub. When you walk in, you’ll be overwhelmed on how nice the restaurant is. The décor is dark and modern. I felt a little under-dressed with workout clothes! We were led to a booth in the back and ordered the usual. I had the small Tofu Tom Kha soup(enough to serve 2 people) and the Pad See Ew with pork. I ordered spicy level 5. The soup had a lot of tofu which I greatly appreciated and it was cut into small pieces vs. larger cuts that some of the restaurants jipp you. The pad see ew(no carrots) had really good flavor. I’m not a spicy person, but the level 5 was pretty mild. The spice level here is pretty tamed. If I were to go back, I’ll try a 7. Even the next day with leftovers, the spice still wasn’t there. We had really good service and the employees are very friendly and attentive. Great place to get some Thai dinner!
