So myself and some folks work up the hill towards the 805 and found this one day on our way home noting to look it up later… searched for it on Unilocal and saw the great reviews plus that they delivered — so we decided to order for delivery as we don’t often get to take a lunch. The food is great — the service was great(on phone and in person with the delivery guy)! The food was delivered hot(we ordered two days in a row!) ! I almost didn’t want to review this place and to just keep it our Company Gem but wow i don’t think its fair not for everyone to at least try the Hummas, Pita Bread and Kebab meat :):) The hungry ladies up the hill appreciate you Outcast Grill!

Was visiting La Jolla from out of state and wanted to order pizza. Placed the order online and requested delivery. After 1 ½ hrs and repeated calls to the restaurant, our 2 pizzas finally arrived… barely warm. We had to reheat both pizzas. When I called to complain, they offered a gift card which does us no good since we are headed home and told me they couldn’t refund anything since I ordered online through one of their«online services». They also claimed the pizza was only 10 min late and the food was fine. Hmmmm. Not even close.

We went there in the late afternoon so the place was mostly empty and service was great. We had the lamb lollipops and shakshuka, delicious and filling for two people.

Our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised. Fast, friendly waiters/waitresses, clean environment yet their were a number of water bowls for the dogs. We’ll bring out two little white fur balls the next time. I had the fish & chips. Flakey, not oily and greasy at all. The frys are good and the green salad was incredibly fresh… and outstanding meal for $ 10! Babe had baked salmon dish. She also thought everything was very fresh however, a bit to spicey for her liking. We will be back.

What a great little gem! Nice patio area, delicious food, big portions, and friendly service. We had the burger, schwarma sandwich, and Mediterranean pizza. All were super tasty. This is a very nice place in University City to make a repeat stop for those in the neighborhood.

I came to this place for the first time a few weeks ago along with my husband and a friend, not expecting much but killing for some Mediterranean food! When I got to the menu I was disappointed there are many different styles of food and not only Mediterranean but at the end, everything we ordered was delicious. By far the best of the best is the Hummus and Pita bread. Nowhere in San Diego you will have this kind of Hummus, creamy, super tasty! We ordered it with mushrooms and I truly recommend it! We also had a falafel hamburger and the Tunis sandwich. Both dishes delicious, definitely worth try them. My fish and chips were ok but nothing amazing. I believe the fact that from the pictures I though it is chicken schnitzel(not fish) played against me once I tried the fish. The price is 100% affordable, also for students. Anyways my 4 stars are mostly because of their outstanding Hummus and Pita!

The food is fresh and delicious! Very flavorful and great combinations. We had the Mediterranean Platter and definitely stood out compared to others I’ve had. The prices are very reasonable and we will definitely return.

I ate here last night with my husband. We both had the chicken fajitas. They were ok, but not great. He ordered some beer. He made a good point. That even though the beers are listed on the chalkboard inside, it would still be nice if they had a drink menu to bring to the table. Especially since we were outside on the patio, and can’t see the chalkboard menu. I really liked the patio area. The lights and fire heaters looked nice out there. They also had a chalkboard area outside for kids to draw on. And it’s dog friendly. I think they probably have some good things on the menu. I guess chicken fajitas aren’t their specialty. The waitress was nice and I would probably come back again to try something else.

When life gives you a restaurant like outcast you give it 5 stars! They really have everything for my family. There is something for everyone. There are gourmet options, burgers, even a kids menu. The craft beer is only $ 4 on Thursday. The children can play at the huge chalkboard on the dog friendly patio as you enjoy a wonderful meal with expert service by the fire. Did I mention how friendly they are? They always treat us with incredible hospitality and deserve every star.

A great place with peppy staff. cozy interior seating… romantic patio seating and a great selection of food items on the menu… This place literally has everything for everyone.pizza.panini.pasta…sandwiches.Mediterranean platters… and the best part… it tastes GOOOOOOOOD… I met a friend here tonite for dinner… I picked this place since I didnt know what cuisine she would like and since this place has so many options and good reviews. I decided to give it a try… My friend arrived first and blocked a table for is… once we sat down… we got greeted by the waitress and we ordered some drinks and food… I got the caprese panini and my friend got the chicken parmesan… The panini came on a focaccia and it tasted delicious… my friend mentioned several times she loved her pasta… but it was kind of a big plate for her :) Over all we had a great time… the place was awesome. the food was delicious and I have a ton of other options I want to try so I am definitely going back soon…

We loved the food here. I had the beef kabobs and the meat was tender and juicy and portions very generous. My friend ate the mahi fish wraps and said the fish was tasty and very fresh. It was accompanied by great seasoned fries. The place has a great cozy vibe and you can’t beat the reasonable prices. We will definitely be back to enjoy the local craft beers. Do yourself a favor and try this gem.

Came to Outcast Grill because we were in the neighborhood and wanted to kill time and not be stuck in traffic. As we walked in, I see there’s a few tables with painted decorations on the tables. We were greeted by a friendly waitress. We got waters to drink. I looked at the menu and most of their food items were $ 10 and up. I went with the chicken pesto panini. It either comes with fries or a salad. I went with the fries. We did not wait too long for our food. The fries were hot and perfect texture. I was a little disappointed in the chicken pesto panini. The bread was the plain hamburger bread instead of a sourdough type bread. The chicken was descent but a little dry. The pesto helped enhance the flavor. I did not like how the lettuce was shredded. It makes a mess. I managed to finish my sandwich. I was offered refill but she did not see my cup was almost empty. Service was great! I liked how friendly our server was. She was very peppy and seemed to enjoy her job. There is limited parking in their lot. I would definitely come back to try other food items here. They even had outdoor seating with heat lamps if you ask to have them turned on once it gets cold.

We just discovered this place last Friday and we’ve been there three times now. The falafel burger and the seasoned fries are to die for. The pita — and how often can you say this about pita — is so wonderfully seasoned! Personally, I prefer the hummus at Aladdin’s, but the baba ganoush! Wowie Zowie! It looks so much whiter than the baba ganoush I’m used to — I thought it was yogurt. I would come back just for that!

Wanna get a shwarma? Excellent food and a great selection of beer on tap. I love this place. The pizza, hummus, and shwarmas are most memorable for me. This place is as good as it gets.

Awesome hidden gem! Great good. Even better atmosphere. Mimosas are fantastic! Employees are great too! Shareen was great too! Extremely accommodating for our big group in between our soccer tournament. Def a new go-to place when we are in the area. Loved it here! Very kid friendly and awesome for an afternoon coffee or anything really. Really great experience here! 5 stars all the way! We will for sure be back!

I think I ordered the worst food on the menu. I got half cheese half Thai pizza which was extremely oily thin and it tasted like it had cinnamon on it. I couldn’t eat it because it was that bad. I also got the buffalo wings which were dry and burnt. I will never eat here again. $ 28 down the drain.

One word — Shakshuka. That’s what you get here and probably nowhere else in San Diego. At least I haven’t seen it anywhere. It’s really good. Also $ 8 for 4 lamb chops(or pops as they call them)!!! Gimme gimme gimme! The rest menu is a little eclectic(fajitas, huevos racheros, kebabs, pizza, pasta, burgers, fish n chips etc) which usually makes me skeptical but it’s probably all yummy.

This review is way overdue. My husband and I joined a group of our friends in October to celebrate a birthday. There were about 15 of us. First, I must say that everyone is happy that this place opened up in UC which is a pretty residential neighborhood and needed a place like this. The food is average but some items are pretty good. Their Mediterranean themed items are solid but some other dishes likes wings and fish and chips weren’t as nice. The batter on the fish and chips was burnt and lacked flavor, the wings were soggy and fatty with tabasco sauce like flavor and I couldn’t taste the Portuguese accents at all… I say stick with their Mediterranean dishes if you come here. The Mediterranean pizza was outstanding, their hummus, kebab and Lamb lollipops were fantastic. However the service was absolutely terrible. Our group, sited on the patio was being totally ignored and each of us was constantly getting up and going to the bar for drinks or food orders. At the bar, the guy was answering questions with attitude which caught me by surprise and«killed» my positive experience. Anyway, we may be back but maybe not with 15 people. Seems they have no experience how to deal with big groups.

i would say i wish i had known about this place when i lived in university city years ago… but i dont think it existed then(well not under this name… I was told it has been transformed from a kosher joint — Oi! I could have been getting heritage grub fix back then: P) but anyway, locals are lucky to have it now. the one thing most suburban neighborhoods lack is a nice down to earth café /drinking hole… i would know, i live in clairemont now :/and i pretty much refuse to patronize chain establishment. im kinda in love with their mexican pizza(no longer on menu but you can request a veggie version of it). hearty and satisfying with a really delicious and freshly-made crust and loads of ingredients on top. might be the first time ive had avocado on pizza and i will say that this california girl loves her avocado. ive had it twice now, and the small size is big enough for two appetites, making it a very affordable quick bite. if you are undecided on what to eat… i highly recommend that pizza =) for pizza currently on the menu, i have also tried the mediterranean and enjoyed a lot — but take in consideration the saltiness of greek olives and feta and as long as that flavor is desirable, its a delicious choice. but MAN can i gush all day about their pizza crust — simple ingredients, flavorful and chewy. the crust recipe is really what sells me and keeps me wanting the pizza over and over. the menu is quite eclectic and leans toward Mediterranean with a lot of bar food options intertwined. i got a random craving for standard shoestring fries one day and they were freshly made and seasoned nicely. also came for a lunchtime visit for the special of the day — a chicken wrap made with that thick gyro-style flatbread. huge portion i thought id never finish, but then poof it was all gone. was hungrier than i thought and it was just so tasty! i honestly have been pleased with everything ive tried. their taco tuesday special is great and i would highly recommend the fish taco out of the choices. it was very lightly fried with great flavor and let the fish shine instead of the toppings. and it was here that i tried huevos rancheros for the first time — delish!(you can request black beans instead of pinto FYI) as for drinking, they really pride themselves in their tap selection of craft beer, which is constantly changing and always offers a style I enjoy. living in san diego, the bar is set high for such things, and even higher for someone as particular as me. I like that there always seems to be a good wheat on tap, and a mild but flavorful IPA that isnt too hoppy. ive been a big fan of the local Hess honey orange wheat which is often there. unique factor to mention: they accept triton cash. im a UCSD alum so that is pretty cool to find out… tritoncash.ucsd.edu/locations.asp most of the tabletops have been painted by a local artist and really give the interior a nice vibe. and the outside patio is a lovely place to chill during the daytime with our forever 75 degree weather. and you can get your sports bar fix with tv’s showing the games.

Lucifer: «The million lords of hell stand arrayed about you. Tell us, why we should let you leave? Helmet or no, you have no power here — what power have dreams in Hell?» Dream: «You say I have no power? Perhaps you speak truly. But — you say that dreams have no power here? Tell me, Lucifer Morningstar… Ask yourselves, all of you, what power would Hell have if those here imprisoned were not able to dream of Heaven?» The Sandman — Neil Gaiman I close my eyes and dream of the fine grains of sand beneath my feet. Sand so beautiful no photograph could do it justice. Fresh sea breeze so clean I breath deep as I can and hold it so I never have to inhale smog filled California air again. Deep in the ocean I marvel at how clear the water is, the lovely coral formations, the beautiful fish and sea turtles darting about. A beautiful woman in my arms we watch the sun setting into the sea with palm trees in the distance. Later the stars twinkle in the night. Lacking the obscuring effect of the California smog the stars fill the sky with more points of light than I have ever seen. The Cayman Islands. :-) This was the place I ate the most awesome mahi mahi fish and chips I’ve ever had. The fresh firm juicy fish filled my mouth with the most delicious flavor. :-) The crunchy batter was a savory bonus. :-) I open my eyes and the bad taste is still in my mouth. My adventure started with good intentions. I saw an amazon local deal for this place and my nephew’s birthday was coming up. I never heard of this place but looking at the menu online I noticed they had mahi mahi fish and chips. :-) The fries were crunchy and had a good flavor except there was a bit too much salt on them. The mahi mahi had this nasty flavor to it and I couldn’t taste the fish. Took me a couple of bites to determine it was mustard. I really hate mustard. :-P As I was here to celebrate my nephew’s birthday and he liked mustard he became the lucky recipient of all my fried fish. I ate my fries and reflected on how far I’d fallen since those perfect moments…
