This place is bomb ! The smoothies are really good but it took 20 mins to get a turkey wrap and it wasn’t even busy. But I will go back for smoothies anytime

Location: — can’t be beat Food: — just okay. Bagels taste like thin pre-packaged, crackers, but so do most west coast bagels. Coffee and read have an odd taste to them. Service: –this place gives a new definition to the word slow, and they do t acknowledge that the food will take awhile. You are better off going to wonderland for quick service

*3.50 touchy feely stars bro!* A beach style café with specialty drinks, teas, and gelato. I stopped in for lunch and selected the grilled panini. It was good enough to give the place another shot sometime. On a hot day I’d go with the gelato.

Came here for a quick coffee and bite to eat. Overall giving four stars coffee was good service was good. We did order a California omelet. little runny, mushrooms were undercooked, and potatoes came out a bit cold. Place has a good vibe. I’d come here for coffee again.

Personally, I loved it here. Service was good(although, they did forget to give my husband his soda, which he had paid for and we waited 15min for), but they were super accommodating and apologized when we told them. But food was good, out fast for a bust Saturday morning. Coffee was amazing! Oh Lordy yes.

Sloooooowest service! Took 35 minutes for two bagels, which were made wrong might I add. I also ordered our food to eat within the restaurant and when they were finally done, they were brought out in a paper bag. When I told the woman that we were eating here, she caught an attitude which fueled this review. Other than my bad experience it’s not a bad place to have a coffee, those are ready pretty quickly.

Omg – YUM! First visit here, my girlfriend and I got 2 croissant sandwiches(delicious and good sized), iced green tea(honestly the best iced green tea we’ve ever had), and a hot Purple Haze(a «special» with espresso and lavender syrup – also delicious). Staff was friendly and food is pretty well-priced. I loved looking at all the random art posted up in the café. My only complaint would be that it took a while to receive my food(a little over 20 minutes) but it was SO good that it made it worth the wait. We will definitely be back!

This is one of my favorites! Been coming for years now. They always delivery great service whether it’s breakfast, lunch, a coffee or a treat. The staff is consistory kind whether they’re busy or slow. Meals are super good, the Greek sunrise and Waldorf wrap are the items I crave most!

I love this café. It may not be the nicest of coffee serving establishments, however, it maintained it’s authenticity in OB for all the years I have been coming here. The café and food is always great. Norma is a super lady, and her staff is always friendly. Keep it up…

3 Stars due to Slow slow sllloooooowwwwwww service — UGH. I guess its kind of their«thing» though because everyone I’ve talked to agrees that they’re slow so it’s a known thing. — DONOTGOHEREIFIN A HURRY!!! The coffee and food is good, the staff is friendly and the location is perfect! I love their baked goods and menu options and I love enjoying this place on weekends — I just wish a toasted bagel and cream cheese wouldnt take 30 minutes! They also have delicious smoothies and gelato! And they accept credit cards too! Highly recommend(As long as you’re not in a hurry or starving!!!)

I’ve only been for regular iced and hot coffees and a space to study(free WiFi!). The service is friendly, however overall the restaurant is grungy. This place needs a deep clean and then I’d be willing to try the food. Music is super old school(think 70’s and 80’s) — no problem to study but not exactly someplace I’d want to come«hang». Wish they didn’t close at 5 either!(It says 6, but it’s 5 today!)

It’s kind of odd that there are two Newbreak Coffee joints in OB, especially when they’re within a half-mile of each other. I usually go to Dee’s Newbreak Café to get coffee beans for my espresso machine, but I’ve been to the other one twice due to Dee’s being closed for various reasons. Anyway, I’m shocked that the espresso beans at this location are actually more expensive than at Dee’s Newbreak despite being basically the same spot. It’s not that they’re slightly more expensive, they’re several dollars a pound more expensive! WTH? I’m going to find a different alternative to Dee’s because the convenience is not worth the extra price. On a side note, I like the décor of the spacious interior, but I’ve never bought any food or drinks at this location. Since it’s so close to the beach, parking is basically nonexistent.

I enjoy walking to this coffee shop on some mornings. It is located right across the street from the beach. It has a few outdoor tables so you can bring your dog. The wifi reaches out there too. I have gotten a couple food items but I haven’t enjoyed any of them. Not that they look bad or taste terrible but they just aren’t my type. They put odd seasonings on their potatoes and hash browns that I just don’t enjoy. I also got a mocha banana shake and it just tasted like watered down mocha. I’ve had much better. I will probably try out another café nearby since I’m just not feeling this one. Others seem to like it though, it’s always pretty busy.

Great location here at the Newbreak, literally across the street from OB. Great coffee, i had a latte and granted that is pretty hard to screw up, but they do a nice one there. The peeps behind the counter seem pretty cool, and the whole place has an overall«chill’ atmosphere. Please note, if you don’t bring your Macbook Air/Pro, you may feel slightly out of place while sipping coffee at the indoor tables :)

Not a fan of this place. I really didn’t need a lot from them, my coffee shop was closed, needed wifi and caffeine. Paid $ 7 for an iced coffee that made me wish I had settled on Starbucks. Most seating is reserved for patrons going to eat, the signs say no laptops so I settled for a table outside. I usually find it hard to complain with an ocean view but the regulars were strange and this place has an overall vibe that is just off and the coffee was not on point. Meh.

They have a few particular rules that keep the place in order. 1) no large backpacks 2) no lap tops at the tables with views of the ocean(bummer!) 3) you gotta ask for a token for the bathroom Other than that: Friendly staff at a beach side café. Hard to beat. I am a fan even if I can’t use my computer at the windows.

This cozy café has a prime location in OB with ocean views. They offer pretty extensive variety of breakfast and lunch items, as well as smoothies and of course the acai bowls. if you are a tea fan, there is a whole wall full of glass jars with all kinds of loose teas to pick from, surprising for the coffee shop but more variety the better, caffeine comes in different forms, right? On my last visit i had a Newbreak Omelet(3 eggs with your choice of 3 fillings) with side of fruit and avocado. Good choice for someone who wants to have a solid filling breakfast. My latte was good but didn’t wow much with the favor or creaminess. During the week this place is full of people on their laptops and i appreciated that they have signs on the tables that are allocated just for dining and not for facebooking :) for hours on end. Its a perfect local spot to grab a bite or a drink while enjoying ocean breeze and coastal views.

My newest discovery could very easily become a new hang out spot. Just steps from the sand on Ocean Beach, Newbreak Coffee and Café is the ideal spot for grabbing a cup of joe, latte, frap, tea or other beverage of your choosing. There are plenty of places to sit, both inside and out, as you sit back and enjoy a view of the ocean. I made several trips over the weekend and will definitely be coming back. Their espresso was excellent, as was the traditional brewed coffee. They even have a seperate line for those busy times when all you want is a straight up brewed coffee. I also sampled the Mrs.’ Mexican Mocha. It was excellent and full of good chocolate flavor. On a subsequent visit, I enjoyed a sausage and egg breakfast. If you want any kind of toast other than white, you’re out of luck. When asked what kind of toast they had, the waitress simply said, «We have white.» Okay, white it is then. My breakfast came with two eggs, sausage links, eggs, toast and a hash brown patty. You can opt for fruit instead of the potato. They aren’t going to break any speed records when it comes to preparing a meal, but who’s in a hurry anyway when you can sit and enjoy a beachfront view? The friendly service more the made up for the extended wait time anyway. I will definitely return many times over.

Man oh man, this place. This place is a must for whomever is in Ocean Beach. It’s got an inclusive feel to it and its location cannot be beat. I always hit up Newbreak when I’m in town. The owners/employees love to start up a conversation with you, and the last time I was here(at about 7am), I overheard really satisfying conversations about the Iran Nuclear Deal and the most recent Supreme Court decisions. I like that you have some people who are just grabbing a coffee before hitting the waves and that you’ve got some people who are really enjoying just talking about the big things in life. Truly, everyone is accepted here. Come one, come all. Come as you are.(I realize that sounded oddly like a cult church, please disregard). Oh yeah! Coffee is fabulous as are the bagels and pastries. Remember that you have to get a token from the cashier to access the bathroom.

What a way to start my day, coffee and an ocean view! I love having the opportunity to stop by this Daybreak location. Especially in the morning, since it a refreshing way to start my day here. I love to grab one of their specialty coffee drinks, sit by the open windows, smell the ocean and hear the waves. Soak in the energy from everyone around me. They offer coffee drinks, teas, food and snacks. I have tried their pastries, which are fairly good. Even some gluten free options. Snacks offered include some that are for Vegans, Paleo Diet, and Gluten Free. I also like their seasonal drink menus. My current favorite is the Snowflake Latte. They have a wall of loose leaf teas to choose from if you are a tea drinker. Their staff is really friendly. At times there seems to be a slow down in having my drink be made. The process does not seem as streamlined as other coffee places that I have been too. But overall still not a bad experience. A little weird to have to ask for a token to use the restroom. But wholey understandable since there are quite of few transients and homeless people in the area who probably stop by to try to use their restrooms, the tokens deter this from happening. There are tables that are great for groups and individuals.
