Mimi’s has really stepped their game up! To day was the best day out if my 3 tries here. I was giving up but last minute decision ended up to be a win. Service — Extremely friendly and fast! Food — Nice and hot and was good as always(I couldn’t say that 3 months ago. Price — They seemed to have a few more deals then before. Got a huge brick chicken Chop plate for about $ 10⁄12. Over all I’m very happy. Bonus… they have a 10% Military discount!!! Thank you! I will return 4 plates plus a couple of sides… apx $ 55!

Is this Mimi’s Café(teria)? It sure feels like it. Idk if it’s slow and unorganized because today is Father’s Day or if it’s always like this. Food took so long to come out. It came in in bits and pieces. Not happy at all with the poor service.

Loved it, not too many places around to find French food for a reasonable price. Everything was flavorful and the chicken was juicy and fresh. French fries are the best kind. Our waitress was incredibly nice and I will be coming back again for more. Must try the roast chicken.

Very low staffing on a Saturday at lunch. Half the tables are empty with 20 – 30 minute wait time.

Slow service. Manager argued over menu questions. Food came out cold. Enough said. Will not be going back.

Bad management. Came in and was told that wait for our party will be 5 to 10 minutes. 35 minutes later and three parties seated that came after us, we were leaving the restaurant. Was there so long that I was able to notice the trash stored under one of their console tables. Maybe it was good that we ended up not being served at all.

I went for breakfast since I haven’t been here in a few years and decided to give it a shot again. The bartender gave great customer service, he was a Hispanic fellow I believe. I ordered the spice muffin and the omlette with mushrooms, spinach, and bacon. The muffin was fresh and hot. It was delicious and honestly the best part of my meal. My entrée came, and it looked good. but it was SOBLAND. The mushrooms and spinach lacked any seasoning whatsoever. The potatoes were disappointing as some of them were overcooked, mushy, and some of the potatoes on my plate were squashed! The egg was way overcooked, extremely brown and had a rubbery texture. Again, no seasoning. I don’t know if their cooks taste or season their food but they should. The spinach tasted bitter and the mushrooms mushy. I used to love Mimis, and now I remember why I didn’t come back all these years. 2 stars because the muffin was good, and the service. If you want breakfast you’ll get better tasting food at a dennys(unfortunately)

I’ve been going to the Westview Mimi’s for over 10 years and was very surprised at the low Unilocal review. I decided to check in again here to see how things have progressed. My parents, my boyfriend & I dropped by the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The ambience at Mimi’s is still warm, family-friendly and charming, with a low-key bistro feel. It’s a good place to have an intimate conversation with a friend or spend some light-hearted moments with family. Kid-friendly. Our server was outstanding — she acted like she was really taking responsibility to ensure we felt welcome and connected. Portions were generous but not gut-stuffingly so. My mom got a savory chicken crêpe special, and she was more than satisfied with this dish. Dad got the roasted turkey dinner off the menu. The turkey looked especially good. My boyfriend got a corned beef sandwich special. It looked decent — not spectacular, but he said that he liked it, and his herbed fries were hot and crispy. I got the shrimp pasta special with sauteed grape tomatoes, broccoli and a little squeeze of lemon. It was light and delicious. We took a couple of their famous muffins to-go, and I think the restaurant might take a bit more care to make sure that the muffins are fresh and warm. Maybe it’s understandable that pastries wouldn’t be fresh in the evening. But I think the muffin-bakers may have lost some of their former passion, because the buttermilk spice muffin in particular was quite different than I remembered. Overall, Mimi’s is a great establishment. Good food and a fun vibe. You should come check it out — my dad also mentioned that the signature chicken pot pie is superb.

Came in to try it, my bf and I were standing to get greeted for over 15 min and no one was around so we left. I’ve never had this problem before so I was really upset about this.

First time at Mimi’s Café! This is more of a family joint with not much options for breakfast. There’s a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. For breakfast I went with quiche Lorraine and corn beef hash with potatoes. The quiche Lorraine comes with a side of fruit and it was okay. Didn’t have enough bacon but I love quiches because they’re so light and fill you up fast. The potatoes for the corn beef hash were perfectly seasoned. The corn beef hash was okay. Very plain and simple. It’s okay to put some salt and pepper on your food to bring out the flavor Mimi. Our server was very nice and attentive. The earl grey tea and hot chocolate was delicious! I tried coming in for dinner because I thought they had country fried steak but they do not.

Service & steak rant: Well this wasn’t our first time here but it will be the LAST time I come on a Sunday at 10a… The wait wasn’t too awful but our service wasn’t the best… Heck it wasn’t even«good». Had our drink order and food order at a decent time but as far as refills go– nope, had to ask the busser to refill my tea after contemplating on grabbing the pitcher ourselves. The manager even came around and asked how our food was and if there was anything we needed… I informed her that my steak was definitely not medium rare, more like medium well and my son had ordered«rare» and his looked medium! Seriously ok so I shouldn’t expect our steaks to be done right at a Mimi’s? But then why as how we want our steak done… And why stick the little stick to indicate that it’s suppose to be rare… So alter we found out they took 20% off for that… However, if I ask the manager that we would really like some jelly and another Tobasco(since they brought a near empty bottle) then I would expect her to bring it over since the wait station was 2 steps away… Instead she was on the computer making adjustments or something… Either way no jelly, no Tobasco… FYI my daughter wanted the jelly and had been patiently waiting for a while… I find that annoying that the manager would drop the ball like that. Amusingly enough our server said«I usually work the evening shift so please come back and see me then»… Hmmm my instantaneous thought was thanks for letting me know when NOT to come back smh. I enjoy the food at Mimi’s and usually the service is much better even when they are busy but today wasn’t their day… And why is their 1 cinnamon roll $ 3??? Crazy.

Ok normally I only go to places that I’ve heard of from other people. To my sister, it wasn’t that great. But I had to experience it myself as everyone’s likes and dislikes are different. Upon opening their menu, I was ecstatic to see all the different foods and flavors I haven’t seen in other places. It’s not overwhelming to look through, but so many to try that I wasn’t sure which to try first. I went with the smoked salmon eggs benedict. To my surprise, the smoked salmon melted to my tongue without being salty, the english muffin was just soft enough to cut through yet still crunch on the edges, the sauce wasn’t overbearing and brought the whole dish together. My fiancée had steak and eggs with potatoes. The smile on his face as he placed a slice of the steak into his mouth made me believe he was glad that we came here. He’s particular in how he wants the steak done. My eyes went wide when he allowed me to try a piece. The steak was done medium rare, it was soft and juicy with all the flavors soaked into the meat. I couldn’t believe it melted so nicely in my mouth. I enjoy the Italian/French café feel including the bathrooms. Our server often checked on us and would refill our drinks right away. We hope the next time we come back it’ll be another great experience.

Nice place and décor, good friendly service and prompt. I had the Bacon Avocado Omelette. It was good, nice portion. I wasn’t too crazy about the potatoes. The blueberry muffin I had was ok. I wish it was cooked longer because it was still too soft and stuck on my teeth. I could only ate half of it. My cup of coffee was always full. Cozy place to have breakfast and chat with friends.

Good morning everyone. here is some stuff i liked and dont like. Likes. 1. Ambiance 2. Cleanliness 3. Pancakes Dislikes 1. Dark Brown french fries(switch oil your oil) 2. Unevenly cooked steak(part medium, part well done, part medium rare) 3. Slow service(1 waitress for a big area) Try to do something on your customers comment and for sure your restaurant will do better.

Because of the spectacular service and décor, they deserved the 4 stars. We were greeted promptly for breakfast for Saturday morning around 930 am. No wait. Server was attentive and friendly and hostess added a nice touch by grabbing us waters before leaving us. Bonus points ! Sometimes just waiting for interaction, let alone water brings the experience down. Mimi also serves lunch and dinner but their breakfast is what I came for. Although it’s a chain restaurant, it’s one of the better one in that it has style. Beautifully decorated décor from the chairs, paintings and so called balconies(just to admire but not to be sat) fill the atmosphere. It’s really a nice French twist. Their meals consist of classic American meals with a French twist. See pictures below for menu. I opted for something light today and got the two eggs and turkey sausage. Comes with herb roasted potatoes. This came with toast or muffin and I went for the muffin since those are a house speciality ! The blueberry muffin was warm, had real blueberries and fluffy. Really really tasty. Turkey sausage was pretty good, and herb potatoes were surprisingly the perfect taste without it being oily. Crispy and soft in the right areas. The eggs(scrambled) were quite oily and drenched in butter. I couldn’t finish half of it. I would recommend no butter if possible. All of this for $ 8.99. Couldn’t really complain. Plus they serve $ 5 house wines all day. Plenty of parking as its in a large shopping area, with Rubios, CVS and Starbucks. It’s right across the street from Edwards movie theatre if that helps. For a wide selection of classic breakfast selections at a good price, this is the place !

Came here for an early dinner. My friend gave me a $ 25 gift card for Mimi’s Café for Christmas and decided to use it on my daughter’s birthday, December 29. We walked in and was seated right away. It was not too busy on a Tuesday afternoon. We also had a buy one get one free coupon which saved us some money. I got an iced tea to drink. I went with the salmon for my main course. The waiter was very attentive and refilled our drinks. Before we got our food, the waiter gave us some complementary bread to eat while we wait for our main course. Bread was a little tough but the pumpkin bread was moist and delicious. Once I got my salmon, I see there was spinach and potatoes underneath with this creamy sauce. The salmon was good. The spinach was okay. I didn’t care for the potatoes and sauce. It was actually enough for me. My daughter got the spaghetti with broccoli. She really enjoyed her spaghetti. She also had an apple juice. We mentioned to the waiter that it was her birthday and they gave her a complementary cake. She really enjoyed eating the cake. So cool! Service was excellent but food was just average. I only enjoyed my salmon and pumpkin bread. There’s plenty of parking in front.

We LOVE Mimi’s Café, but… this restaurant was sadly not up to par. Thankfully, it’s not one that is near us, or we would be really disappointed. Hubby and I decided to spend a nice weekend in San Diego and thought we would go to Mimi’s for dinner since we had a buy one get one free meal coupon. It started out well — we were greeted, seated and our order was taken. The waiter was very friendly and noticed the coupon on my phone and said he would make a note of it. Our salads came out quickly as did the freshly baked bread. We were ready to give him a good tip, but that was when it all started to go downhill. Hubby ordered fish and I ordered a turkey croissant. The waiter said that because they had turkey dinners, they had cranberry sauce, and if I wanted some, he would bring it out for me. I asked him to bring that to me instead of the chutney that comes with the sandwich. It took a while for the waiter to bring the iced tea that I ordered shortly after I requested a glass of water. I had to remind him.(The ice tea was because we had to have two beverages in order to get the second entrée free…) We finished our salads and waited… and waited… and waited. We surmised that they had to send someone out to catch the fish. The waiter finally noticed after about 20 minutes that our order still had not come out. He said he checked on it and it would be out shortly. A few minutes later, our order came out… except that hubby’s fish was barely lukewarm. We had to send it back and told them that it was not hot.(Perhaps it was because the air conditioning was set on «freezing». It was very COLD in there!!!) Anyways, we had to wait another 10 minutes for the entrée to come out. I waited for hubby’s entrée to come out before I started eating my sandwich(didn’t want to be rude, but he didn’t want me to wait.) I still had to ask for the cranberry sauce because the waiter forgot that too. Come on, really??? This time, a manager brought it out and apologized for the inconvenience. So we finally finish our meal…(Hubby was satisfied with the replacement order.) The waiter did not ask us if we wanted any coffee or dessert. He just brought out the check. We looked over the check and had to ask him to adjust it because he did not take off the free entrée. He adjusted it and brought it back. He did apologize, but we felt he could have handled the situation better. We paid our bill and left him a very small tip(that reflected the bad service). As we were getting up, he rushed over to open the door to escort us out and wished us a nice evening. Too late — thanks for ruining it! This is not the level of service that we are used to at a Mimi’s. At the time, it wasn’t even busy! You know how when one thing goes wrong with someone, it seems that EVERYTHING goes wrong? Lucky us… we were the ones.

We went here for breakfast since we were in search of a café nearby. Not quite what we were looking for, but it worked. The wait to sit wasn’t too long, but I’m glad we came in when we did because people were starting to come in from church. They sat us at a booth while we muled over the menu. I already knew I wanted their delicious muffins. There seasonal muffin was Pumpkin so I ordered one. Hubby ordered griddlecakes with turkey bacon, eggs and homestyle potatoes. The muffin came out first with our coffee and it was big enough to share. The muffin top was crunchy and the muffin itself was delicious and warm. Puts me into the holiday mood! The turkey sausage tasted like turkey I ate about 1.5 of them and the potatoes were just like dad makes. The griddlecakes came stacked in three, I didn’t try them but hubby ate about half the stack so it must have been good

Hubby and I were hanging in Mira Mesa one evening this week and wanted to grab some dinner. We had Bitsy Boo with us so we needed a place with an outdoor patio and Mimi’s was able to accommodate us, which we greatly appreciated. We took a seat out on the side patio and our server, Michael, took our drink orders and gave us some time to look over the menu. He brought out our waters and a bowl of water for Bitsy(so nice) and took our dinner order. Hubby ordered a glass of their house wine and Michael said he’d bring out some fresh bread. Great, we love bread, but that’s when things started to get dicey. We waited 20 minutes for the wine and 30 minutes for the bread. The dinner plates literally took 45 minutes to come out. We had contemplated leaving before the wine came out but decided to chance it. I probably should have gone with my gut instinct and hightailed it outta there when we still had no bread or wine 20 minutes after giving our orders. The bread was okay, served warm, and the carrot bread was tasty and interesting to be sitting there in the bread basket. I had ordered the Brioche Cheeseburger, medium well. That thing came back well-done with fries that had been cooked too long. The brioche bun only seemed to be brioche on top and institutional on the bottom(did I really just get bun gypped?!) Hubby’s salmon was also overcooked and dry. The sauce helped make it edible but we were not impressed at all. Hubby let our server know that the salmon had been overcooked and he apologized and said he’d relay that to the cook. I feel like they don’t get much traffic on weeknights and may be short staffed. Mimi’s really needs to evaluate their kitchen crew and see if more help is needed there. Wait times are much too long for a night when there was hardly anyone in the establishment. We really appreciated our server, Michael, and felt like his hands were really tied in this situation. A server can only bring out the food as quick as the kitchen can prepare it and everything he brought us was hot, so timing from kitchen to table was not the issue. Probably won’t be back here. Wouldn’t wanna know how long it would take to get our food on busier nights, if they even have such a thing.

So I used to really like Mimi’s, but I haven’t been to one in a while. They have completely changed the menu, with only a few items like quiche, etc. as carryovers from the old days. This one is near the Edwards Mira Mesa theater, and we went for dinner after we got out of the movie. There weren’t very many people eating at 7:45. We got seated right away, obviously. And then it started to go wrong… Our iced tea was so strong, it almost looked like a Cabernet with ice in it. My chicken with frites was totally burned, bitter, and dry. It almost tasted medicinal, and I made our waitress try some of it, off the side I hadn’t touched. She agreed it was bad. The fries were good, skin-on fried in peanut oil maybe, like those places that used to be in the mall food courts before everyone developed peanut allergies overnight. My mom said her cassoulet OK, but it didn’t look like a normal version of it. The lettuce in her salad was full pieces of small lettuce, and needed to be chopped up or something. I had to order a Frisco Burger, I knew that would be fine. They were willing to do Med Rare, which is unusual at chain restaurants nowadays. Our poor server Theresa did her best to make us happy, and she was hustling because other people were sending food back at other tables(what did they do to someone’s SALAD? I don’t think I want to know). We were there for an hour and a half, having to wait for my reorder to be cooked. Next time we may just keep driving, and go to Cheesecake at NCF instead.
