My wife and I once or twice per week will meet after work for a beer. McCarter’s is our go-to. The staff here is exceptionally friendly. Mark, Kat, Brandon and Sean are excellent bartenders. Owners Scott and Melanie are extremely nice as well. Whether you walked in for the first time or have been coming in for years, you will be treated like you’re a regular. The octagon bar is huge and really cool, plenty of TVs and they’ll accommodate any sports viewing request. Everything we’ve had from the kitchen has been really good too. We heard there are some new menu items coming soon. We hope so, looking forward to sampling some new stuff! The parking lot is weird and small, but don’t be discouraged, simply park in the giant lot next door(Albertson’s parking lot) and walk over.

They have the best beer on tap, you can never go wrong with Sculpin :). Everyone is so friendly. The atmosphere is exactly how chill you want it to be to enjoy a game & have dinner with family. My family has been long timers here & every time we come are met with hospitality & great service. Thankful for the friends we made coming over the years. Shaun & Brandon & The Owners are all great! Highly recommended!

Love love love the wings here! I came with my family for the first time a few days ago. I ordered the hot wings and they were delicious! My little cousins burgers looked so good too! The atmosphere was very chill which I like. I’ll definitely be back.

The place is torn between being an Irish bar and a sports bar. So they have Sports Illustrated covers framed along the walls, but the bathrooms say«Himself» and«Herself» and there are Irish sayings above the doors. My friends and I were here on a Friday night and it was pretty dead the whole time. Which was good for us because it was quiet, but not good for them. We had great service and the people working seemed very nice. A sign outside promises«new menu items coming soon» so I hope they can revamp and increase business. It would be great to have another good eatery in the area. Food was pretty meh. I was going to get the Caprese, which is listed under Burgers. Then the description says, «Not a burger, but worth trying.» But I was confused because it was under the heading«Burgers.» Apparently the Caprese is just supposed to be fresh mozzarella and cheese and basil with a balsamic reduction on a bun, which the waitress told me– no meat. So I asked for a hamburger without a bun, with mozzarella, tomato and lettuce. It came with not-ripe tomatoes and shredded lettuce. I don’t know if it’s the same mozzarella they use on the Caprese, but this was definitely not fresh mozzarella because of how it was melted. I also had a side salad with a bit better quality of lettuce, but the cucumber tasted really off– I don’t know if it was just bitter or if it was sitting in the fridge uncovered. Fries were okay. My friends got buffalo wings, which you can get plain, hot, honey BBQ, or half and half. It comes with an enormous amount of fries. The menus were sticky and so were the drink menus on the table. In fact my friend warned me not to touch the drink menu so that was off-putting. It seems like people have plenty of time to do things like clean menus. We also didn’t like how people were smoking on the attached patio. It was like being right out there with them as smoke came in through the patio door. Their front door(next to the patio!) also stayed open, so there was no smoke blockage at all, which kind of defeats the no-smoking ordinance. A piece of the lacquer on the table chipped off onto my lap. Another odd thing is how the mirror in the ladies’ room is sized for someone no more than five feet tall. I could not see my face because it was so low. That was kind of weird. I guess they figured tall people could bend down. But the mirror is really big so it seems like they should be able to raise it a few inches. I kind of feel like they ought to give the Bar Rescue guy a call and breathe some life into this spot.

Slow service, expensive prices. Sucks I won’t return cause I can throw a rock from my front door, that’s how close it it’s to me.

Mccarters is awesome to support the local San Diego Aggie club during football season and they have Texans favorite beer of choice Shiner Bock in the bottle! Foods great and the atmosphere is awesome! I live meeting up with everyone and watching Texas A&M beat the hell outta whoever they are playing at this restaurant bar and grill!

This is my first visit and I was definitely pleased. The bartender, Sean was very friendly and recommended the Thursday night Slider special. I ordered that and the cheese fries. The fries came out in a skillet and were very tasty. My favorite slider was the buffalo chicken with bleu cheese, but the burger slider and pulled pork were good as well. I will definitely be back!

I frequent this restaurant bar about 3 times weekly at the lunch hour. Marc is awesome! great bartender, server. Food is great. Owned and operated by a hardworking couple that I see in there working their business every visit. I use their Free WI if and do my pay roll and make calls at lunch. It’s my second office:)

This place is great! I just moved in to some apartments across the street, I wandered over one day with a friend of mine. We hoped up on a stool at the bar for a quick drink, we were treated like we were regulars! The staff was very friendly and sociable. We ordered some finger foods(which were pretty dang good), we ended up staying for longer than expected and drank more than we thought :) but, being around people that were friendly and didn’t seem to mind that we were just there to hang out and enjoy our free time was great. If you are just looking for a low key friendly spot def check this place out!

Not sure why all the bad reviews. Showed up with a party of 8 and it was dead inside the restaurant area, the bar was full however. We all enjoyed our food and the service was fast and friendly. I would steer clear from the pizza, it was strange, bad crust, not enough cheese and unusually large toppings of sausage. My philly sandwich was delish however. We will be back to try some other stuff.

Don’t know why it’s taken me so long to write a review. This place is close to my house and we come a few times a month. Good selection of drinks and great food. Can’t go wrong with the burgers, salads and pizza. Always great service always great food.

London the cook is Amazing, my friend wanted a special dressing and he came out to talk to use and made her a special dressing for her salad, I was so impressed with the service!!! A must go! Shawn the bartender was Super nice, Erika has a Cadillac margarita and it was Great!!! Shawn gave us Great customer service! Our waitress was friendly, slow, but friendly. Her clothes looked like she may have been wearing her pjs. Yoga pants and a sheer white top have their place but the bar scene isn’t it. Neither looked professional nor sexy, black t shirt and jeans would look way sharper for a dress code. But about the food… Salad had way too many onions, loaded potato sticks were about 4x over seasoned., and spinach blue cheede steak just tasted bad… like not even sure bad… just made me want to vomit and it wasn’t the blue cheese. Oh and the veggies on the plate weren’t seasoned… just burnt. Could have had better at home… too bad. :/

Over the years this building has had many unsuccessful businesses come and go. Mc Carters has been around for a few years, and I drive by it all the time but I have never come in. Sean Gecko R and I joke about it every time we drive by and finally we decided to come in. It was a Wednesday late afternoon and there were a handful of other people mostly sitting at the bar. We ordered some beers and went to sit at the far end of the bar which is the part that has windows facing the street. The server and bartender were very attentive and came by several times to check on us. We were there during happy hour, and we each had a couple of beers, and the Wednesday special, 1 lb of wings for 5.99. Well he had the wings, I just had the beer. When we paid, it turns out only one beer was on sale during happy hour. It wasn’t that big of a deal, but they don’t make that clear in their happy hour menu what is on special. I figured all beers would be discounted. We were both a bit hungover and Sean ordered a bloody mary to soothe his pain. I can say it was probably the grossest bloody mary I have ever had, and it came in a small glass not a pint glass for $ 6, no thanks. It is a sports bar, so judging it for what it is I would say its pretty nice. They play a decent selection of classic rock music, and the place is clean. I would come back here to have a few beers with friends, I really like the seating at the top with the windows. As for cocktails not sure I would really try anything again.

A HUGEBAR with eight people inside, and it took me fifteen minutes to order a drink. The bartender was on his phone, drinking his own drink, and talking to someone who he was clearly friends with. Fifteen minutes later I ordered a vodka soda and was given a vodka with Coke, and told ‘that’s what soda is; it’s Coke.’ Um, no. The only reason I give this place 2 stars is that because it is perpetually empty, you can grab a burger with a friend and be able to have a conversation that isn’t drowned out by the people around you. However, the bartenders ‘friend’(turned out to be his cousin which is SUPER unprofessional) threw a punch at a GIRL while we were leaving the bar. The bartender threw the girl out. I’ll never go back here.

I called 3 bars in advance on a Saturday afternoon to inquire if they were showing the 2013NBA playoffs(some bars prefer other sports). I chose McCarter’s because the friendliest and perkiest employee answered the phone. McCarter’s offers salvation from the standard 1TV dive bar scene in East County. The place looks Immaculate and has at least 20HDTV’s with open and unobstructed views t watch the games. In need of some sustenance to absorb our beverages we ordered: BLEUCHIPNACHOS($ 7) — Kettle style potato chips topped with melted bleu cheese sauce & bacon. Great appetizer with a Hefeweizen. SPINACH&BLEUCHEESESTEAK($ 16.00) — 10 oz. Angus sirloin steak topped with sautéed spinach & bleu cheese crumbles. Served with seasonal grilled vegetables & your choice of roasted red potatoes or french fries. The steak was good but could have been great if the sautéed spinach and bleu cheese where not on top of the steak. The veggies on top steamed the meat and killed the exterior crispiness of the steak. TUSCANSHRIMP&PASTA($ 14.00) — Sautéed shrimp served on a bed of angel hair pasta tossed in wine & cream sauce with mushrooms, shallots, garlic, basil & sun dried tomatoes. Served with garlic bread. This dish was surprisingly good! Nice size shrimp in a light and creamy sauce. I would order this again. With a diverse selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers and entrees, McCarter’s serves some good food and drink, all in a casual and comfortable atmosphere. I have to deduct a star because they are kid-friendly. I was a tad annoyed listening to crying babies and runaway toddlers. .
