Excellent waffles!!! The consistency is amazingly crunchy on the outside and just the right amount of chewiness on inside. I’ve tried the Fantastic Fruit waffles twice so far– the first time I tried it with ice cream instead of whipped cream based off of Unilocal reviews(at no extra charge) and was completely blown away by how amazing it was! A great waffle topped with a generous portion of fresh strawberries and big firm blueberries. Earlier today I tried it yet again but with whipped cream and I must confess to be slightly disappointed. The waffles though hot and fresh were not as crunchy as the first time. And the whipped cream is definitely something I will substitute with ice cream in the future. I must say I am tempted to try the savory waffles each time I go to this truck but my sweet tooth wins each time!

Marcel Waffles 1 of 2 food trucks that gathered after our UYE at iFLY San Diego. If you like his Facebook page and check in, you get a free coffee! I ended up getting a savory waffle(1 for $ 5, or 2 for $ 9), you choose bacon & cheese or ham & cheese to be baked inside the waffle. Ham and cheese was yummy. Too bad I already had a cupcake from Lil’ Miss Short Cakes in hand, otherwise I would have also tried one of his sweet waffles(Speculoos! Bananas! Ice cream! Strawberries! Chocolate! Caramel!). I should have allowed myself to have more than one waffle. They are authentic Belgian waffles, and were a nice late morning breakfast after a run and skydiving session. There’s also a Marcel Waffles in Orange County/LA!

Literally took forever !!! For a waffle and fruit… 30 minutes?! Why? I mean I understand it takes time. But not this long. There are a bunch of people waiting.

This place is so good and delicious! They were at the makers arcade spring fair! I got the strawberry love waffle for $ 9. Come with a crispy waffle, powdered sugar topped with fresh strawberries and scoops of vanilla ice cream and whip cream!!! So good! Definitely will come back and get some good old sweet waffles when I see this waffle truck around!

I had a liege waffle without all the frills of the extra topping. Without all the extras on top, I found the waffle to be a bit dry… as liege Belgian waffles are usually crispy on the outside but doughy and moist on the inside, with those gems of sugar crystals inside. The price is pretty steep too, but at least it’s a decent size. It’s ok and does the job to satisfy a waffle craving, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.

This food truck came to a school event. The waffles were delicious and fresh. I ordered the strawberry. Every part of the waffle was good. My only criticism is that the line moved really, really, really slowly. I get that they are making each item fresh, but with the huge line, they should just have a constant stream of waffles in the waffle makers. And not that I mind, but the menu referred to «local ice cream» and I saw the lady scooping from a Thriftys bin. Perhaps they have 2 types of ice cream depending on the order, so I can’t really say, but I was staring at the menu long enough from being in line forever, that the«local ice cream» sort of jumped out at me.

I love waffles. I love ice cream. I love waffles with ice cream. Their waffles are delicious and the make them even more delicious with ice cream, fruit, whipped cream, etc… they even have one with cookie butter. LOVE. I like the ham and cheese ones too. they make the waffle with ham and cheese inside. YUM.

This food truck rolled into my work today… It’s been on the schedule and I was pretty excited for some waffle delight the morning of. It appears this is family owned and is run by a husband and wife who are actually from the country of Belgium. The graphics on their truck also indicate that they are approved by some prestigious minister of waffle affairs. Whether this is legitimate or not, their waffles are easily delicious. I ordered the Fantastic Fruit which included blueberries, strawberries, whip cream, and a chocolate drizzle. The waffles were very fluffy and sweet with a little bit of crunch. The fruit and chocolate also added to the sweetness factor. Too bad it was rainy and cold outside because the waffles were a tad cold by the time I was able to bite into them. For $ 9, I’d say I was mildly satisfied as I was barely full but the waffles themselves were still very astounding. My other gripe would be the lack of variety in the menu. Most of their options are on the sweeter side and while I enjoy this at times, I was really hoping for something more savory. Also, I’m not sure how waffles are traditionally served in Belgium, but these waffles tasted more like a dessert than a breakfast item(no syrup here!). Their waffle dishes do seem to lean more to the dessert side since they also offer a ‘We Scream for Ice cream Waffle’. Marcel’s definitely has some authentic Belgian waffles, but expect to pay a lot to receive a little and beware if you aren’t into sweeter dishes.

Wonderful experience to actually eat a real, authentic Belgian Waffle here in San Diego! The taste lingers on… Top marks to Marcel Belgian Waffles Food Truck, what an array of delicious toppings on their Brussels and Liege waffles.

I found this truck by random one Friday morning. I had just picked my cousin up from the airport, and we were headed to my home before embarking on our weekend of gluttony when we passed the truck parked on the street in front of a parking lot. A quick conversation ensued, in which we decided to modify our morning plans a bit, to include a stop at the Marcel Belgian waffle truck. We eagerly backtracked from my home to the truck, where we stood in front of the menu board, quietly discussing the various options. As we stood there, an older gentleman(who we took to be the owner) approached us to ask if we had any questions. He then took a few minutes to run us through the different options, and ended with a couple recommendations, before backing off to give us a chance to decide. We wanted to share something, so we went with the«We Scream for Ice Cream», which was basically dessert at 8:30 am. One Belgian waffle, topped with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzled in chocolate and caramel sauces, and finished with a large dollop of whipped cream. All that for $ 8! Weeelll…it was $ 8 on the menu. I paid the man with a $ 10 bill, and he came to the window to ask, «Do you live in the area?» Taken off guard, I paused a second before answering to the affirmative, and he went on to tell me to come back tomorrow for my extra dollar, as he didn’t have enough change to give me $ 2 back. What, now? This is a truck that’s been in existence for a while. How do they come down to San Diego(for the first time ever, if the guy can be believed) without enough change to do business for a morning? At any rate, I told him to keep it, and that was that, but still… seemed odd to us. The waffle came out quickly, and it was light and flaky and delicious… and super sweet. I’m glad we decided to share one order of something, as we had a long day of food consumption ahead of us. I think the waffle we ordered would be too much for me on a regular day, but it was the perfect start to our morning. One final note. As we were perched on benches, happily consuming our waffle creation, one of the guys from the truck came running up to ask how it was. We gave him an enthusiastic thumb’s up, and he departed… only to come back about a minute later to ask if we’d mind if he took a picture to «post on his site.» We looked at each other, and decided, «why not?», and posed for a quick pic. He gave us veto power, thanked us profusely, then ran back to the truck. To date(almost two months later), the picture has not surfaced anywhere…

Liege waffle was dense with crunchy bits of sugar throughout. The waffle tasted good(sweet) but was slightly dry. It needed a fruity topping to balance out the crunch and give it moisture. Unfortunately the fruit toppings were sold out, so maybe better planning would help them provide a slightly better product.

Stopped by this truck at the Julian Apple Days festival. We were planning on chowing down on apple pie, but walking by this food truck, the bewitching scent of my favorite breakfast treat drew me in. The owner engaged us in conversation — letting us know that she and her husband, as well as their kids are all Belgian. They import all of their ingredients from Belgium, most notably the flour. I’ve had waffles on the streets of Brussels, and I can attest to the fact that they’re far superior to your average diner waffle. Marcel food truck manages to capture that perfect, crispy exterior and light, airy interior. No sense hockey puck waffles here! We got the strawberry love, topped with strawberries and locally made vanilla ice cream. It was truly a treat, and plenty for two people to split. At $ 9 for two waffles and topping, the pricing is a little steep, but on par with food truck prices.
