I really like the feel of this restaurant. If you want authentic French food, I would definitely suggest this place. The best part are their macaroons. They are one of the best macaroons I have every had.

We read about the restaurant on-line and wanted to try it out since we love French cuisine and also thought the reviews we also saw on-line were worth a visit. We were not disappointed. Although it’s a very small place with only approximately 22 seats, counting the bar, we were immediately seated at our reservation time. I strongly suggest making reservations. The later the better . My wife and I found the service and food to be quite good and the portions were very ample. My wife ordered duck and I ordered the 16-ounce pork chop that was perfectly cooked the way I asked for it. Make sure you tell them how you wish it cooked otherwise it will be cooked medium well. I like it medium with pink showing. Which is what I asked for and it was cooked exactly to my satisfaction. Try the place out; you won’t be disappointed.

Super cute and quaint French restaurant. The service was fabulous! We had ordered from the bar but looked like they had a good wine list. I had the mussels which were out of this world delish! Am looking forward to going back and trying something else soon!

My wife and I went in for the Restaurant Week menu. I’d read many reviews and wanted to give it a try. I had escargot with a Pino Noir, Duck Confit with Brussels sprouts in a mustard sauce and a red wine(I can’t remember what it was) and chocolate mousse with a port. My wife had lobster bisque with a rose’, double bone pork chop with potato Augratin with Malbec and crème brûlée with Sauternes. My wife said«Wow! Quite possibly the best meal I’ve ever had.» All of our food was fantastic. We let the staff pick the wine pairings and they were perfect! I had duck once before and this was so much better. Similarly, we have had pork chops many times, but this pork chop was amazingly good. The portions were bigger than you might expect from a French restaurant. It was enough food to fill us up! The service was good and they provided just the right amount of attention, leaving us alone to chat and enjoy our dinner. The atmosphere is great. It is cozy. It is small and there is a small bar. I suppose it could get loud in there, but it was very nice during our visit. I strongly recommend visiting La Bonne Table.

Amazing place. Very nice and cozy. I was there with my husband and both of us agreed that was a right choice. Everything we ordered was delicious. Our dinner included 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. The only minus of the plaace is that is super small. I like small restaurants, but this one is too small. Not recommended for big groups

I went with friends for restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the restaurant. Since it was restaurant week that was the only menu that was offered. Let me preface this by saying my friends and husband voiced jokingly to me they hoped they didn’t have to eat Jack in the Box because it wasn’t enough food, because I picked the restaurant. We were stuffed and all had leftovers, no Jack in the Box tonight. appetizers: Lobster bisque: my friend said it was among the best he ever had. A massive bowl! Escargot: It came to the table still bubbling it was literally piping hot. It was excellent and topped with a circle of puff pastry. It was very yummy. Salmon rillette: My husband had this and although very tasty I think he was expecting a piece of salmon, it was still good. Duck Liver Mousse: This was what I ordered because I love liver. The picture shows a not so impressive blob, but let me tell you this was the creamiest pâté/mousse I ever had. It was so good and almost too rich to eat the whole thing. I was the only one that had the wine pairing, the pinot went perfect with the liver, it cut through the richest and added another level to an already wonderful appetizer for me. For our entrees: My husband and I ordered the duck confit: We got 2 big leg/thighs it was cooked and rendered so well no leftover fat on it. I was served on a bed of brussel sprouts in a mustard type sauce. Everything on the plate was perfect not a thing was out of place, it all went together beautifully. And oh those sprouts it wasn’t your typically charred sprouts with bacon on it. These were cooked so well and the tangy sauce was perfect to offset the richness of the duck. It was such a plentiful portion we couldn’t finish it. This was also served piping hot. My friends both ordered the steak and said it was cooked perfectly and right off the stove, they also had a nice size portion and took most of it home. Desserts: It is after all restaurant week, you can’t possibly pass up dessert, well I can’t. chocolate mousse was creamy rich with real whipped cream and just too much we couldn’t finish it. crème brûlée perfect. rasberry filled ginormous macaron I ate it like a cheeseburger. It was also incredible. The ambiance was such a quaint and adorable place perfect for date night. It was small but I’ll say cozy. It was as charming inside as it is outside. The whole place had old black and white european pictures that added to the charm. I loved the place, my friends were impressed also and I don’t think I have ever food served so incredibly hot like straight from the over/stove.

I was very excited to come across La Bonne Table when searching on Unilocal for somewhere different for date night. The pictures exude romance and exquisite french cuisine. Upon walking up I realized I had walked past the restaurant a dozen times and never noticed it. It’s quaint. It’s charming. The service was good, the food was good, but nothing stood out or excited me. I was just outright offended when the frois gras came out with a balsamic reduction. It took away from the rich flavor and had no business on the plate. I ordered the duck confit because the reviews raved about it. It was served with lentils and figs with a balsamic glaze.(The chef seems to like his vinegar?) The duck was crispy and had good flavor. But the accompaniments fell flat. My lover had the hanger steak et frites. The steak had a wine reduction that had really wonderful flavor, but the steak itself was tough. I do give kudos for the frites being homemade and cooked perfectly. I left the restaurant feeling let down like I imagine someone might feel after a bad date. You know the kind where the other person posts a sexy picture and shows up looking 10 years older and 30 pounds heavier. Maybe I should give the place another shot, but I don’t have the desire to try it again.

Wow great food. Cozy traditional french restaurant with excellent food. It has seatings for about 20 people inside and a couple of small round bistro tables outside. We were a party of 5 and all were comfortable. We ordered several beers, 3 appetizers, 5 of the six entrees and 2 crème brûlée. All was excellent. The beers were perfectly chilled and went down smooth. Escargot is rich and buttery. The boullibaise was the best, excellent broth and nice selection of shellfish. The Pork chop was tender and flavorful(for pork), the Mussels were in rich and abundance. The steak was tender. The fries were fresh and crispy(I love my fries potatoey and crispy). The crème brûlée were decadent. The fresh mini baguettes were too good, we kept eating them with everything. I highly recommend this place for a rich traditional French meal.

Meh, won’t ever return. The mussels weren’t cleaned(fuzzy beards still attached), the staff are rude and dismissive. Though I paid for my glass of wine in cash, the added it to my final bill too, so I paid for it twice.

Great little French Bistro. Renaud makes the best Bouillabaisse. The truite amandine is too die for. In nice weather, sit in the patio and people watch. Or, sit at the bar and have Yo serve you great libations. Love this place !!!

Came here for an early Dinner with a foodie colleague and everything that the Unilocalers and Facebookers said was true. It’s such a charming intimate place in the heart of Hillcrest! We started off with cocktails and the French 75 is the best I’ve had to date followed by Escargot & French Onion soup. For entrées we shared the bountiful Bouillabaisse and crisp Duck Confit. Loved the flavor profiles and presentations. I can’t wait to come back for a Date night soon!

This place was such a treat. We felt as if we were transported to Paris. The ambiance and the staff was magical. We had the French onion soup to begin, and it was one of the finest I have ever had! We shared the the pork chop. It was very succulent and savory, and the potatoes and sprouts were cooked to perfection. We will be returning soon!

This is a cute restaurant. Quaint, friendly and it twinkles. Antoinette, the hostess was adorable and the service was excellent. The French 75 and Kir Royale relaxed us and we toasted Paris with love and admiration. As much as I wanted to love Le Bonne Table, I’ll be honest with you, I just liked it. Maybe I should’ve had something else or perhaps I should go back and try some different dishes, but the ones our table ordered tonight just wasn’t on point with what I was expecting. The tuna tartare and the frisee salad should’ve gone well together, but they didn’t and I wasn’t too fond of them as well as a couple. The tuna was prepared in chunks, which may have lent itself to being a bit sinewy, and the salad(for the price) needed a coddled egg to hold its hand. Perhaps I’m used to the skinny frites that always catch my attention on a menu, but these salty and buxom frites were much to be desired. Before we got our duck confit dish with frites, we saw 3 other plates that were scurried away at the end of the meals missing the steak — but fries still intact. What? Mais pourquoi? Aha, now we know why. Heavy and masculine, these fries would make a trucker swoon. The French Onion soup was comforting but not its savory full-powered onion self and the bouillabaisse lacked the telling fennel, saffron and orange kiss that could’ve propelled this beautiful stew into the stars. I feel this Provencal dish should be served with bread to sop up the soup, alas… it was not. Hands down, the service was on point. Two men, delicately working the cozy room as patrons enjoyed the evening in an enchanting, Parisian setting, French music tinkling and tiny, white lights, twinkling in the background. Street parking was easy and despite the restaurant being very small, we were able to garner a good table next to the French doors. If you decide to dine here, enjoy your time with your friends and remember, Viva la France!

On recommendation went to celebrate 50th anniversary of friendship that began w meeting in France. Food was excellent. We shared pâté for starter and it was melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Our main courses were equally magnificent taste treats. Only reason did not give 5 stars was restaurant’s failure to acknowledge the celebration, which we apprised them of when making the reservation. Would have such a lovely touch to a wonderful experience.

Parisian French restaurant… The décor, the ambiance, the menu… Everything transports you back to France. Really enjoyed this place. I suggest the French Onion soup to start. As I keep going back and trying different dishes, I’ll update this review with more recommendations. If you like classy good French cuisine, this place is a must-try.

First time to this quaint little French restaurant between Bankers Hill and Hillcrest. We ordered French onion soup(awesome), tuna appetizer(fresh and yummy), trout(fine but way overpriced and definitely needed a small serving of green veggies or a purée), duck confit(delish), chocolate mousse(yummy)! Pros –service(prompt, attentive, pleasant) –atmosphere(small and intimate) –food(fresh, flavorful, authentic) Cons –chairs(uncomfortable if you’re gonna be there for over an hour) –entrée prices($ 3-$ 4 overpriced depending on dish)

I can’t remember the last time I felt as if I had been transported to another region of the world. Indeed, dining at La Bonne Table made me believe for an hour or so that I was no longer in the U.S. Who knew that a charming and adorable European escape existed on 5th Avenue? The interior of La Bonne Table is lovely. Tiny space, perhaps only large enough to accommodate nine or ten tables. Small, cute bar with about four stools. Dim, intimate ambiance with French bistro-like music playing lightly in the background, flirting with your ears and sensibilities. I was sucked in. To start, I selected the Frisée Salad. It was constructed with a mustard vinaigrette that was subtle, but present enough to completely flavor the dense greens without being overpowering. It was served wtih a slender piece of bread covered in a delicious goat cheese. I loved this very much and gobbled every last morsel. For my entrée, I opted for the Duck Confit. Without exaggeration, this was the best duck I’ve experienced in San Diego. The skin was flavorful and crispy, yet the duck itself was juicy and tender. Magnifique! I certainly wasn’t ready for the evening to end without dessert. As such, I selected the Chocolate Mousse that’s served topped with a lovely whipped cream. The density of the mousse was lovely. It wasn’t fluffy and light; rather, it had a nice density to it that I expect in a good mousse. Masterfully executed dessert that I wouldn’t hesitate to order again. The wait staff were superb! Attentive, constantly monitoring and scanning the dining room to ensure no one’s water glass was near empty, bread basket’s replenished, etc. They even politely tolerated my awful, fleeting attempts to pronunciate my menu selections in their proper French names. As I write this review I’m still thinking about the duck. Drooling, actually.
