Hydrangea Cove

This place has real style and is easily the best beach house décor store in town! reasonably priced and staffed by very friendly and down to earth women who will help with anything you need. I love their community street signs and hand painted nautical signs.

I love this store! It’s one of those places where, no matter how many times you go there, you never leave empty handed.
A couple of years ago I bought a cute little house in Bird Rock. Unlike most of the other houses in the neighborhood, when previous owners enlarged the house, they retained the original beach cottage charm. So when it came time to decorate, I was on the hunt for anything that evoked a sense of carefree days by the sea. I hit the jackpot at Hydrangea Cove! !

You can find the same stuff for much cheaper just about anywhere else. Some of the things are cute, but many are «dated». I would head to Pangea before I hit this place up. I will probably never go back. Patina a few doors up is clutch for gifts/​cards, but won’t have the same beach style throughout the entire store.

This is my go to spot for unique gifts or just a little something for myself. There is a wide price range and a huge selection. Everything from furniture to jewelry is here, all with a classic beach twist. This is a must stop shop for locals and visitors. Be sure to say hi to Hank, the shop dog!

I stopped in today looking for gift for my out of town relatives. Great place with an amazing selection of beautiful beach cottage décor. Wide range of prices I was able to pick up a handful of unique gift for the beach lovers in my Christmas list. I will definitely go back. I didn’t want to leave the warm friendly atmosphere.

I love strolling Turquoise Street. Get a bite to eat at French Gourmet, take a yoga class at PB Yoga, peek in at Patina & while getting your car washed stop in at HYDRANGEA COVE — & find unique, wonderful beach cottage décor of all kinds. The atmosphere is welcoming — you want to stay all afternoon with proprietor Susan Christopher — who is accommodating & helpful. Not only is Ms. Christopher stocked with vintage goodies, rugs, cards & so mcuh more, she has even special ordered flowers & a book for me.
Hydrangea Cove is a great addition to our community.

I used to live in the area, and this used to be a card/​party supply shop… so I stopped in needing to grab a few birthday cards and immediately upon entering it hit me I entered some late 90s interior decorating store…
Actually, it looked like a middle aged la jolla divorcee’s beach obsession turned into a gift shop. From what I could quickly gather it was specifically dubbed a beach décor/​gift shop. I turned a corner and then saw a middle aged la jolla woman sitting at the counter, ironic.
This place is full of kitschy somewhat upscale «beachy» décor with waves, surf boards and little sayings like ‘I like to have a martini, Two at the very most. After three I’m under the table, after four I’m under my host“
I ended up picking through like 10 different tables of stuff to find some birthday cards, brought them up to the counter and almost choked on my gum when the lady told me $ 22… for 4 birthday cards. My shock numbed me and rather than telling her she was nuts and leaving, I gave her my card and bought these lame, nothing special-​should be lined with gold $ 5+ greeting cards. Shouldn’t they sing or flash or let you record your own voice for that much? Anyway, lesson learned. I’ll come here to buy a present for my mother in law for her beach house, and not a greeting card.
Amazeballs — if you are bored on turquoise blvd, ie which you’re getting a car wash, this place could entertain you for 15 minutes.
Bummer — paying that much for those stupid cards, I feel violated.
