Positives: service was friendly and happy hour was cheap. Negatives: beer selection was skimpy, and only offered a small handful of the awesome beers we have in California. Pulled pork chili fries, were okay. I liked them, but my hubby was so thrown off by the excess cumin that he initially thought that the meat was bad. Chicken nachos were also okay, nothing special. Interior was dark and divey, and a little smoky. Everything, including the glasses could have been a touch cleaner.

Priscilla and Colin made my night. Some of the best service I have ever received. Priscilla says I have good taste and I think she’s right. So try this place. It’s so worth it.

Had a great time at the Gaslamp BBQ, great food and a very tasty Ruination IPA. Thanks to Sean for setting me up, I will come back and fully recommend.

As we strolled the streets of the Gaslamp, we searched for a place that allowed children… we were just about to give up when we saw a sign twirlers… the food on the sign looked great, the drinks looked fabulous, but alas… did they allow children? Finally we found a place amongst all the bars that allowed children. The tritip sandwich is HUGE! Enough for 2 people .he serving of potato salad was also huge! The beers 5.00! The service was excellent… The only complaint I have is that their paper napkins are so thin, you end up using so many… probably better if they invested in quality napkins, then we would use less.

I can only rate the service as we were never given the opportunity to try the food. Last night(St Paddys) we were wondering around Gaslamp undecided on what to eat for dinner. We met a very sweet young lady passing out 20% off cards for this restaurant, because of her, we decided to give it a try. It appeared to be a seat yourself place and there were only a few customers when we arrived. We sat ourselves outside on the«patio». After 8 – 10 min no one had acknowledged that we were there even though you could see us clearly from the inside. I decided to go inside to the bar and ask for some menus. The woman behind the bar handed me two very big menus. I told her we were outside and asked if someone would come outside in a few minutes to take our order. She smiled, and said they would. We waited and waited, no one came outside. Meanwhile, the indoor seating was starting to fill up and I could see the same bartender(and another server) going around taking the orders of people who went in 20 minutes after us. We decided to go inside with our menus and grab a small table tor two. We sat there for another 10 minutes and still, NOT A SINGLESERVERACKNOWLEDGEDUS . I told my husband I am going to wash my hands and if they dont approach you by the time I got back, we’re out of here. Went to wash my hands, the walls were SOPAPERTHIN, I could hear every word of conversation coming from what I think was the kitchen. When I came back, still nothing and all the people who came 10, 15, 20 minutes after us were drinking and ordering and getting their food. They never did say a word to us, not even a «someone will be with you shortly». Nothing. Frankly, I was quite shocked as I have never been so blatantly ignored before. The friendly young lady passing out the discount cards was, in my opinion, the only person properly representing this establishment. Edit: After reading previous reviews about the food quality, doesnt look like we missed anything. Whew! I would never step foot in here again. If the owners read this, you need better employees. You wont make it in the F&B world allowing them to treat your customers like crap. Just saying.

Came here with a few friends. Ordered french onion soup and pulled pork plate. My friend ordered the tortilla soup. None of them were good. The tortilla soup was LOADED with onions… half raw. The French onion had too much worcteshire sauce. And finally, the pork was cold in spots and the rub was just not appetizing. The service wasn’t much better either. He was nice but complained about being tired(from a former server/bartender that is not ok. especially while providing bad service). Recommendation: go to union kitchen and tap sown the street. see my review there.

For starters… No silverware was at our table and it took the waitress 15 minutes just to come ask what we wanted to drink. Our orders were all WRONG. And then the workers were so fricken rude! If you want shitty service, this would be a great place to go! You couldn’t pay me to eat here again.

I stopped in here for lunch one day while attending a conference. The staff was friendly and seemed to believe in team work, helping each other out with refills and what not. The food was pretty good and the servings were large.

I posted the nice things below before I left and rated them a, but I need to revise. Before I got on the road I wanted to stop by the ladies’ room. Apparently their ladies room wasn’t operative. Okay. That happens. I understand. So I was relegated to the men’s room. That would have been fine. But it turned out I had to repeatedly ask if someone could please stand outside the door and watch for me, since there was no lock on the door. But guess what? The people I was asking didn’t speak English!!! I had to leave without going! I am so completely finished with businesses that don’t even speak English. I will not patronize them. Hire English speaking people. Or lose my business. ### I am from Mo and Alabama, and finding decent BBQ here is almost impossible. This place was good. Nice patio, comprehensive menu, friendly staff. We had baby back ribs and they were good. I wish they had big, thick skin on steak fries with season salt a legit BBQ place would, but according to surveys, San Diego has the girliest food in the country– even over San Fran. But I digress. I had the Caesar BBQ salad. It was good. A little sweet for my taste, and I would like more spice. But it is really unfair to judge a San Diego joint with a Bama state of mind. ;) If you’re hopelessly craving BBQ, you can get your fix here.

I’ve stopped by here several times before, mainly for the drink deals, but I never got to try the food until my visit on Sunday night. As usual I ended up here while doing some day drinking. They have pretty good drink deals here with drinks costing $ 3 for cheap light beer to $ 5 shots. The specials are listed on the chalkboard up front. The drinks are cheap which is a very dangerous thing. A lot of people come here to pre-game before heading across the street to Omnia or the Gaslamp. Since I was here around dinner I decided to give the food here a try. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and a BBQ chicken sandwich. The soup was decent. It had lots of chicken and the flavor was good. It was a tad bit salty for me though. The soup came with 2 slices of buttered sourdough which was interesting but still good. My BBQ chicken sandwich was a bit of a let down. I expected lot of BBQ sauce and flavor from this sandwich but I got none. They put so little sauce on it that all I tasted was the butter from the toast it was served on. The chicken was moist and well cooked so that was a plus. Service here was a spotty. Sometimes the server was very attentive, other times he was very slow and ignored us when we really needed him. Overall this is a decent place to get your drink on since they have great deals but the food was just ok to me.

NEVERBEENTO A MORERACISTESTABLISHMENTINMYLIFE! Decided to take my two friends visiting from Australia to get some American BBQ on our entrance in they were immediately harassed by a staff member for talking funny(they had Australian accents) were accused for being drunk even though they had not had a drink since they just came in on a flight from Australia we were immediately asked to leave and denied entrance upon arriving. I’ve never been more ashamed to be American in my life until I entered this place. I wish I was able to review this place on the food and atmosphere but unfortunately I was denied entrance due to two of my friends having Australian accents. My advice would be if you go to place to not go with any friends who are foreign or visiting from out of the area

First off great service! Had this really sweet server she wore glasses! You were awesome! The food was a solid 3 stars! Had the tri tip sandwich it was kind of rubbery but decent. Also had the sampler it was pretty good for a day drinking appetizer! But my favorite was the star island ice tea. Amazing drink so sweet and refreshing!

My review is for the shortest visit I have ever made to any eating/drinking establishment… stopped by after a Padres game, having saved my appetite and looking forward to a cold one and some bbq… walked in the front door. No acknowledgment from anyone. Finally caught the bartenders attention and asked if we could seat ourselves. He says, «ya, anywhere is fine.» Walked by the high tops which had plates and glasses still uncleared from the previous party, and found a booth open. We sat down and the bench was wet. Noticed that the table had not been wiped down either. With so many options in the area, I had seen enough! We left and enjoyed the Grand just around the corner instead. No bbq but a much better experience …

Pretty awesome, smaller choice for drinks in Gaslamp. Happy Hour specials were some of the best we saw for Memorial Day weekend. Kelly helped us out with tons of cocktails, beers, and shots as there were eight of us crazy gals! Very understanding of our celebration, I don’t think we waited any more than 15 minutes for all the meals to come out. I ordered Tri Tip with fries. I was expecting a slab of meat, but the slices actually were better given that it was paired with French Fries. I would say the portions are on the bigger side as I noticed some of my friends split the plate for sandwhiches and so forth. For a long morning of activities around San Diego, Gaslamp BBQ was a great add to the afternoon.

The BBQ is really good here. Larger portions, I recommend sharing. Ordered the trip tip sandwich, enough for two! I asked for extra sauce, they’ll bring you a side of it. Adding a little hot sauce to the sauce is the best, try it. Indoor outdoor seating, outdoors is great for people watching. Great brew prices, ordered a pitcher, cost $ 9. Thats equal to 4 beers, a great deal in the Quarter area!

Horrible service and horrible management!!! I will not be coming back to this place! I ordered a vodka cranberry and my drink tasted like a watered down cranberry juice. I went back to the bar and let them know I wasn’t trying to complain but my drink just didn’t taste right. The female bartender was incredibly rude and said whoever made your drink take it up with them! I said fine ok. Tried to talk to the blonde male bartender who made my drink and he said talk to the manager. The manager was no hope so I ended up over paying for cranberry juice. There are much nicer bars in Gaslamp, with better customer service standards and a better overall scene. Don’t waste your time here.
