I’m giving five-​stars. The people spoke, 1919 listened. Their revamped happy hour is much improved. All pints are 5 bucks now an they’ve added wings, 1919 fries and chips and salsa to the HH menu (the salads are still there if you’d like, but the $ 4 nuts are gone). Thank you Scott! Now we have another superb happy hour when we visit downtown.

I really like this place. They set up is great. I can’t wait for football season to watch games here. Large TVs everywhere. Super new and clean looking. Staff is always nice. Oh and pricing for Downtown isn’t as bad as most.

The burger I had was delicious. It was the super hot one with bacon. The service was good. I would definitely be back again

Super fun bar and yummy food! Came to watch the Copa America game today and sat at a beautiful booth by the window to accommodate our large group. Awesome experience, great service and yummy drinks!
The kids had a great time. Their signature 1919 burger was yummy, add bacon coming back to watch the US versus Argentina game on Tuesday!
P. S. One of the kids said «Eat here if you like eating!»

Delicious! Very good service and they did a nice job updating the place. We were hoping Nicky Rottens was going to return, but if that wasn’t possible 1919 is an excellent replacement!

Good food, amazing service. We had the onion rings, 1919 fries, fried pickles, and the 1919 hot dog. My only complaint was they were heavy handed with black pepper in the pickles and fries, a spice I’m not fond of and didn’t expect in those two dishes.

Place looked cool, ordered the Philly cheesesteak and a bloody beer. Every looked and tasted good, serving staff was quick and attentive. Definitely coming into back.

I believe I found my new favorite sports bar. Perfect atmosphere to watch any game. The customer service is good. The bartender David is amazing and the food is amazing. Definitely going back!

1919 is a great find! Great atmosphere. Great sports bar — too bad they only have about 50 high definition TVs in there!

I might have found a new place to watch my games ’cause I like the vibe they have going on. There’s plenty of TVs, the food is great… And the music they play is stuff I’ve actually heard of! Haha
I really liked Nicky Rottens and so when I saw it leave and replaced with 1919, I was a but skeptical but as I walked it, I was pleasantly suprised. Bartender Justyna helped me order the Beast Burger which also had prime rib and bacon… Along with fried onions, pickle and fries. I can honestly say tha it’s the best burger I’ve ever had. The bacon was perfectly crisp, the meat was well seasoned, as well as the fries.
But as I was eating, I was watching the games on their nice Samsung TVs. I sometimes see that sports bars skimp on the TVs which I never unstood why. But the picture was so clear, I swear I could see what LeBron was thinking for his next dramatic flop! Haha
And Oh yea… The music they were playing over the speakers was stuff I actually heard of and wasn’t blaring so loud that I couldn’t even hear myself think.
Great food! Great TVs! and Great service!!! Seeing that I’m always downtown, I will definitely be back!

Came here tonight with some friends to watch a game. Called in advance to see if they’d be showing the game, and was told yes– plus sound! Always a bonus. The server was cheeky and friendly and a bit of a goodnatured smartass which is also a bonus!
I had the moody burger with mushrooms and balsamic onions and blue cheese, and it was perfection. Even the bun was toasty and golden and crispy. Plus when else have Asian pears been on your side salad at a bar??! The rosé I was drinking was a bit pricey at $ 11 a glass but it was very good– delicious in fact! (And the Warriors won so I had to have that third glass right?) My friends were happy with their burgers and sliders, and «the whiskey» cocktail was yummy– fresh lavender syrup or some fancy thing like that?!— way better than you’d expect for a sports bar all around.
Plus, this was an A+ pure sports bar experience! The booth was comfy, there are lots– LOTS –of big TVs, they don’t hassle you to order more when you’re just watching the game (gotta pace yourself when it’s only the second quarter!). I would definitely return but I’m an out of towner— if this place was in SF I’d be back for more games and food on the regular.
Free wifi is a plus. Bathrooms were pristine. Stay classy San Diego.

If you are looking for a burger, this is NOT the place. Very average and way over priced. Burger Lounge is half the price and twice as good.
Maybe a cool bar if your a drunk tourist. If, like me, you live in downtown, this place is one example to avoid. Total tourist trap.
Want to eat like a local, go to the Neighborhood restaurant. There is NO COMPARISON.

Based on food alone I’m writing this review. We had the burger and it was not up to par for a $ 14 meat sandwich, especially knowing the buns it needs to fill (hello Nicky Rottens burger!). Maybe the American is too set on seeing a tall, beautifully stacked burger with a steak knife stabbed through it up to the hilt but I’ve seen more impressive looking burgers come out of local fast food joints. Taste-​wise it was ok but those fries fall into In-​N-​Out category of sucking. A little salt will go a long way; at least these have hope because they are actually cooked through. Step it up 1919, you have a prime spot — don’t loose it.
Redeeming factor: drinks were ok and service was prompt and friendly.

Great sports bar right in the heart of everything on 5^th st. Our server was very nice and helpful and the cocktails were great. I had «the whiskey» and enjoyed it. Somewhat hard to find a table so I recommend coming early. But definitely a great spot to enjoy some drinks and watch a game or two.

Came here late night for a burger and some fries. The burger was tasty and cooked well. Our server was extremely nice and friendly. The place itself was decorated nicely and we were able to find a seat right away. I will be back to try more of their menu items!

Just how Unilocal likes to put it, «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» This place can’t get any better because it is already at the top! I had the pleasure of stopping by the week of their soft opening with a coworker and was blown away by everything; food/​drinks, customer service, and décor of the place.
We sat at the bar and bartender Justyna was great; she was super friendly and made me feel very welcome! I ended up trying the Fried Chicken Skins with salt and vinegar. I was a little bit skeptical about trying it at first, but both Justyna and the manager were raving about it and said it was absolutely necessary that I try it. So I did… and OMG, they were right! Great flavor, just the right amount of crispiness. I also got a Moscow Mule, one of my favorite cocktails, and the drink was perfect!
I will definitely have to come back to try the rest of the menu. It is now on my list of favorite places in Downtown!

Stopped in for a burger and we were pleasantly surprised by this new spot.
We both ordered a spicy burger from the menu equipped with a few small twists on a traditional burger to fire it up. They both came out delicious and were quickly devoured.
Don’t forget to try the buttermilk ranch and chipotle ketchup. They had 5 other unique side sauces as well.
Zena was extremely friendly and welcoming. We will be back to try out the Bloody Mary bar which she described to us that’s available on Saturday and Sunday.

HOLY WHOA!!! This place has their official grand opening this Friday (April 1^st… Nope, it’s not a joke) and they are blowing up the food/​bar scene for Downtown SD.
I want to spend ALL my time here when I’m in the Downtown area and no where else. A coworker and I walked in and had a seat at the bar. Justyna was the bartender that took care of me and man, she’s got the personality and smile that makes people weak in the knees. Honestly, her friendly smile was the first thing I noticed!
I ordered the Fried Chicken Skins (Salt and Vinegar flavored) and I love it! Such a great way to make an update on the chiccarones (Pork skins) and for a drink, I have the Whiskey. Jack and cherry vanilla cola! WHOA! Why have I never thought of this when mixing my own drinks! It was amazing watching Justyna whip everything together!
I’m in love, and like I said, I’m spending all my dollars here!

First let me start off by saying that you have to be completely open minded. The menu is not your conventional burgers and fries at a sport bar spot. There drinks and menu is freaking amazing. For your Beer on Tap individuals looking for a review, I wouldn’t be able to tell you anything but that they have 20 on tap (sorry I am not a beer drinker) but their cocktails are on point. Sliders are amazing, The Beast was delicious, and the Chicken and Waffles are an experience all on its own. Their Executive Chef is a culinary genius in my experience. And let’s not even talk about the service… Maria is a sweet spirit. A mix between Tinker bell and your Favorite Tia.
Bottom line 1919 is a place to chill. I will be back. Good luck to the venue.

Eek! Never had fried pickles, disco fries or shrimp & grits before. Had all three and regret sharing with my friends. Everything on the menu looked amazing. I must try the cornbread open faced next. Everything is made from scratch. They passed out their cayenne candied bacon for everyone to taste. I’m throwing that on everything next time I eat there! I repeat, CAYENNE CANDIED BACON.
Drinks were tasty, I got The Mezcal which is like a tequila old fashioned. I’m a whiskey person but after trying this I may switch back to tequila, after all I think I can handle it better than I did when I was 18 – I mean 21. Also had their tequila shot with their homemade pineapple jalapeño pickleback. Yes. Yes. Yes.
The vibe is amazing, super fun sports bar. They showed me a free app that plays the sound from any of their tv’s on my phone, so I can listen to any game or music video. Staff was awesome, very upbeat and hospitable. Managers always present making sure we all were having a great time! Can’t wait to come back & try more food and drinks. In fact, I’m just gonna go now!
