Amazing, best brunch I’ve ever had. They have delicious options. Service is great. They have seats outside.

The food was AMAZING, from the coffee to the arugula and truffle oil red potatoes. Our waiter’s name was Brandon and he was totally awesome. Customers service, good food and beautiful atmosphere. I will ABSOLUTELY come back and recommend The Fig Tree

By far one of the better paces to get an eggs benedict for sure! The atmosphere is very cozy & the staff are very friendly and attentive. I had the traditional eggs benedict on English muffin and focaccia bread… next time I am just going to get the focaccia bread because it was so good! The hollandaise sauce really compliments the bread and the taste of the two together in my mouth was savory and kept me wanting another bite! My sister had the strawberries with cream french toast and she let me have a bite… OMGLUVTHEBRIOCHE!!! Ugghhh it was just so fluffy and light and the cream was perfect!!! My daughter had the sliced apples french toast and that too was AMAZING!!! The only thing I didn’t like was the house coffee… idk what brand they are using there but it wasn’t very tasty. Other than that it was a great way to start the day!!! I took a peep at the dinner menu and I think that’s something worth trying next time!

Delicous food all around. Got the veggie scramble without the goat cheese and opted for gluten free bread which didn’t disappoint. Boyfriend got the Wally burrito and liked it, but wished it came with avocado to make it not so dry. The wait was decent(20min) for a Sunday at 10am but we had to wait a little while in the beginning just for our coffee. Otherwise a great choice for breakfast! Definitely a place to revisit to try other dishes like their French toast which everyone else seemed to have around us!

Note: this review is for their 2016 San Diego Restaurant Week Menu. Came here with my girlfriend for restaurant week for dinner on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was really busy, but we had reservations, so we were seated pretty quickly. The place has a very cozy atmosphere, but it can get a bit difficult to hear the person seated across from you. I ordered: Appetizer: the skillet — a light tomato broth with clams, mussels, and a bit of bacon. I thought that this was subpar. The clams and mussels were a bit puny, and I thought it could have used more bacon, and it could have been distributed better. It lacked a signature flavor, which would go on to be a theme for the dishes that I ordered. Entrée: shrimp risotto — pretty standard risotto that was their ‘risotto special.’ I found this to be pretty funny because I thought the risotto was not very good. Not that it was bad, but I was just expecting something better. More creaminess? More not-rice elements? Something to break the monotony of a subpar risotto? The shrimp, also puny, were way overcooked and flavorless. The risotto lacked any definite flavor and depth. I was pretty disappointed. Dessert: ricotta berry tart — probably the favorite of my three, although that isn’t saying much. The tart lacked the normal tartness that I expected. Yes, it’s a ricotta tart, but it lacked that sharpness I expect from a dessert to round out the meal. My girlfriend ordered: Appetizer: ricotta stuffed zucchini blossom. This was absolutely delicious. The stuffing was rich, very well balanced, and even had some(boar?) sausage in it. It was flavorful, fun, a great way to start off the meal. Entrée: originally, the crab stuffed swordfish… but then they ran out(lol, we got there at 6:30 so… it’s not like we were even that late?). They eventually switched it to prosciutto — wrapped scallops. This was absolutely delicious. Original? No, but nonetheless delicious. It was a TAD bit salty, but what do you expect when you wrap something in a thick layer of prosciutto? The dish also came with a side of a coconut risotto, which I thought was far superior to the risotto I ordered. It actually had a unique, pleasant taste. Would definitely order this. Dessert: bread pudding — warm and soothing, complemented [somewhat unadventurous in my opinion] with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Still, a nice way to end the meal. I also got a glass of their chianti, which was very pleasant, and my girlfriend got a white peach bellini, which was obviously very delicious. Overall, I would give my personal meal 3 stars, and my girlfriend’s meal 4.5 stars, and since my girlfriend seemed very happy at the end of the meal, I’m giving fig tree café 4 stars. Would I pay what amounted to $ 50 for what I ate? hell no. Would I pay $ 50 for what my girlfriend ate? probably! I’ll swing by here for their brunch, which I hear is what they’re known for.

Delicious! Service was friendly, we were greeted and Instantly seated. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, looking at everyone elses plates around us everything looked so good! The pancakes looked huge. I got the crab cake egg Benedict. I’m a little spoiled when it comes to crab cakes from living in Maryland, by themselves I would not rave about the crab cake, but as part of the Egg Benedict it was delicious! Definitely worth trying if you’re a crab lover like me. Grapefruit mimosa was good but my favorite was the cranberry mimosa!

** San Diego Restaurant Week review $ 30 per person Came here making a reservation beforehand, and I glad because it’s a fairly small restaurant. Anyways, the restaurant week menu provide three courses: appetizer, main course, and desert. I choose the mussels and claims as my appetizer, and short rib as my main course, and chocolate cake for my desert. Mussels and claims are pretty good appetizer ! It comes with two pieces of bread for you to dip in the tomato sauce. It actually tastes great ! The main course for me is a bit disappointing. The mash potato is not soft and smooth enough, but it does match with the sauce that is on the short ribs. Yet this course is heavier than I thought, so I stopped after eating only half of it.(But my friend loved it !) At the end of this review, I have to give the chocolate cake a round of applause. It was one of the best chocolate cake I have ever had ! And I am happy they put strawberries on the side for you to calm down the creamy chocolate with ice cream. I would come back for their brunch next time, since I feel like they did a pretty good job on San Diego restaurant week.$ 30 is actually fair for the amount of food and the quality I had.

The stuffed French toast is amazing! Filled with mascarpone cheese, mangos, and strawberries. Wait was a bit long, about 1 hour and 30 minutes. But we did come for brunch on a Saturday morning. Pretty small place but overall good food and great French toast!

Perfect place for a brunch with ur loved ones. Food is excellent, coffee cups is huge! No hot sauce on table and nobody bring it to us, so I get in myself from the bar. May be a little improvement to the service would be a great idea, but anyway It won’t stop me to give this place a 5 star. cozy décor and comfortable seats! lol;) will come back for sure!))

Best breakfast in the Hillcrest area. Hands down. There might be a wait, you might have to sit at the bar, but you won’t leave hungry and you will leave satisfied. The menu is quite large and ranges from French toast and waffles to veggie scrambles and meatloaf hash. I got the veggie scramble with sundries tomato and goat cheese. It came with a side if potatoes and toast. All was hella good. Tasty cold brew iced coffee complimented my morning rendezvous. Staff is always super friendly, pleasant and hard working.

Loved this place. Good portions and very tasty. I’m a sandwich fanatic so I am very picky when it comes to eating them. I loved their turkey sandwich and will definitely be back for another one. Fries were a bit salty but they had a good flavor to them. Would definitely recommend this place for lunch.

After being told the wait would be 30 minutes, it ended up being nearly 2 hours. Luckily there was a coffee shop right beside so we waited there and wish I would have just eaten there too. When finally being offered a table, they said the only thing they could offer was a 4 top in a corner nearly on top of two other tables for the 5 of us to squeeze into. I was willing to deal with all of this because the food is supposed to be so phenomenal. I ordered eggs benedict with Hollandaise on the side because it’s usually too much sauce for me. The meal came out drenched in Hollandaise and the two eggs were so overcooked they bounced on my plate. Complete rubber with the insides dry and crumbly. I tried to power through because I hate sending food back, but two bites in I found one long hair and one tiny, curly black one. I did not let them re-make it because my appetite was so completely turned off by that point. The service was also incredibly slow taking close to 20 minutes to receive drinks and place our order. I do highly recommend the Man Candy Mary, however.

We tried this spot for lunch today and it was delicious. We had portobello and arugula pizza. The combination of mushrooms and arugula was amazing. I had the Man candy Bloody Mary which had a little bit of a spicy and savory kick with a thick cut of smoky sweet bacon! We will definitely go back to try their breakfast :-)

I came here for brunch on New Years because other brunch places like the tractor room and snooze were incredibly busy, with over an hour wait, while the host here told us it would be about a 30 minute wait. However, 50 minutes go by and then we were seated. I’m agitated about this because if he told us this from the beginning, we would’ve gone elsewhere. So, we were off to a bad start. But, I’ll have to say that the rest of the service during our meal was great. We ordered the stuffed French toast, braised short rib eggs Benedict, and lobster and blue crab cake eggs Benedict. The stuffed French toast had strawberry, mango, and mascarpone. This was actually the highlight of the meal. Everything went well together and it wasn’t too sweet. The eggs Benedict were good, just not the best I’ve ever had. The hollandaise sauce was pretty decent, it didn’t have the buttery taste that most have… it kind of tasted like there was cheese in it instead. Overall, this is an average brunch place. I do not recommend this place if it’s over a 45 minute wait. I’d only come back for the French toast and if the wait was less than 15 minutes.

I love everything about this place! Great location, lovely café ambiance, and one of the best lunches I’ve had in Hillcrest, First and foremost, if you love garlic as much as I do– GARLICFRIES! perfectly crisp fries seasoned with garlic and topped with more garlic. The man candy bacon was great at well, sweet, sticky and crispy. The portions here are HUGE so come hungry. My flat bread tasted fresh and just as delicious from beginning to end. Will definitely be coming back!

Time: Saturday brunch(10ish), waited maybe 10 min. Venue: Chill, trendy, bright space Ordered: California«Bennie» one egg on English muffin the other one their house-made focaccia bread. No sauce. Substitutions: Canadian bacon for turkey and fruits for potatoes. Friend got French toast with syrup on the side. Drinks: Mexican coffee and regular latte. Review: So I personally love unique plates, cups etc and they brought out our drinks in a HUG tub lol. My friend thought her Mexican coffee was too sweet and the whipped cream was too much but I don’t think she realized it IS hot chocolate with coffee. My latte was delicious. My eggs were perfectly cooked and the focaccia bread was delicious. Not too salty or oily. Fruits were a generous portion of melons, strawberry and grapes. My friends french toast came with 4 slices which were actually quite good and on the right side of sweet WITHOUT the syrup. Note worthy: I think our server was James(Sorry if I got your name wrong). Just so sweet, totally helpful, relatively fast service. We were BAKING in the sun and asked to be moved inside and apologized for the inconvenience but they made us feel like it wasn’t a big deal which I really appreciated. Bathroom was decently clean. Verdict: It’s a yes for me. Will go back. Good service, good food, good people. Try it. Confession: We were actually on our way to Snooze but decided to go here cause 1) we heard about them 2) Snooze wait times on weekends at 10am AREINSANE(worth it but INSANE) — I wanted my food like yesterday I was so hungry. Pleased with our last minute switch up.

The California Eggs Benedict is your typical benedict with hollandaise sauce with a Cali twist — which means to add the avocado. My favorite part of the dish was actually the potatoes more so than the benedict itself. The potatoes were seasoned just right, crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. The staff were attentive and filled my water when it was empty. The décor is cute and homey. The wait was about 20 minutes during a Friday brunch hour. My suggestion is not to get the«sushi» dish if you’re Filipino. It’s basically egg fried rice wrapped in good crispy bacon that your mom can cook at home but presented all fancy like. My cousin was a bit disappointed because he spent much more on an item that we typically eat at home almost every week.

Randomly ended up at Fig Tree Café. We weren’t sure where we wanted to eat dinner, we just wanted to try some place new. Opened up Unilocal while we were walking around Hillcrest and stopped by Fig Tree Café. I love the restaurant itself. It’s very quaint and was quiet because it wasn’t busy the night we came. I can see from the reviews and pictures on Unilocal that they’re super busy for breakfast. We were able to sit outside and it was perfect weather and atmosphere. We started with the portobello fries and they were delicious!!! I wish it came as double what the original serving was. The fries came with three aioli sauces: chipotle, caper, and garlic. The caper aioli was a little spicy to me, had a little kick, but was delicious. The chipotle and garlic were our favorites, garlic was my #1. I ordered the Cali Chili Fettuccine. I thought it would be spicy because of the name chili and the waitress told me the pasta is handmade at the restaurant with chili powder in the pasta, giving it the red color. I want to enjoy spicy because I enjoy the flavor, but my mouth just can’t handle it. The pasta definitely was not spicy, just had a little kick. Everything about this pasta was mouthwatering. I would come back to Fig Tree Café just for that pasta. Boyfriend ordered the margherita pizza. The tomatoes at this place are delicious! I’m not really a pizza person, but boyfriend said the pizza was good. He said he’d gladly return to Fig Tree Café. Our waiter was the cherry on top! He was so funny and really, really nice. He had great recommendations. Wish I had caught his name so I could give him a shout out.

So I stumbled into here as Snooze had an hour and a half wait and I’m glad I did. Though parking is difficult in the area, this place wasn’t difficult to reach. The wait was shorter and the service was excellent! The hostess was very friendly and welcoming and our server was above and beyond helpful. I ordered their French toast that literally melts in your mouth and added eggs and the«man candy» bacon! My wife ordered the veggie omelet which was delicious as well as I was able to take a few bites. My god sister ordered the shrimp omelette which looked delicious too! They tried the Acai shots which they said was refreshing. Overall, I like the ambiance of this place, the food and the service. You must give them a try when in the area. Get here early to avoid long waits. Tip well!

When it comes to weekend brunch, we all just have to learn that there’s no easy way out of wait-is-so-long-my-stomach-implodes. The wait staff and service staff were courteous. A party of two ordered: Drinks — House coffee: 2 stars… very little aroma remaining… Mexican mocha with whip: 4 stars, delicious! Eats — Orange Ricotta Pancakes: 2.5 stars for not as advertised. Our server said that there is ricotta cheese inside the batter, so we ordered them. When the dish arrived, it smelled amazing! However, there was definitely no trace of ricotta cheese inside that pancakes detectable by the palette. They were very fluffy and delicious as buttermilk pancakes than ricotta cheese pancakes, which should be more moist and these definitely weren’t. The orange segment syrup is very delicious! Braised Angus beef bennie: 4 stars! The flavor was amazing: one on focaccia and one one English muffins. The poached eggs were perfectly done, and the hollandaise sauce has more zing than the average experience. The house potatoes were super crunchy. Meatloaf Hash: 4.5 stars! My dining companion said there wasn’t enough seasoning, but I disagree, it was just perfect to me. Who doesn’t love pesto?! PS. leftovers also tasted delicious!
