Why oh Why are you guys closed??? We’re devastated that you will no longer be showing up and brightening up our sad Mondays in UTC! You will be missed… SERIOUSLY though, what happened? Possible storefront? Come back!!!

Yummy yummy yummy! I’ve been addicted to this food truck for so long! It comes every Monday to my workplace and I’ve had several things, but my favorite by far are the Tatchos. What an ingenious idea! Tater Tot Nachos… Think about that for a second. Second over. Go get them!

OMG… seriously– This is one of my favorite food trucks! I think I ummmm accidentally forget to bring my lunch on Mondays! I’ve enjoyed every salad I’ve gotten, Love their burgers(quality meat, awesome buns) Their Tot’s are awesome! I’ve had plain… and I’ve had the Truffle oil with Feta cheese. I’ve resisted the Tatcho’s(Tater tot Nacho’s) but, they keep calling my name!!! I love that they are Eco friendly with their food containers and silverware. ;-)

Great food truck with lots of healthy and bad for you options! I tried the fire drill grilled chicken sandwich and it was hugeee but tasty. Definitely could split it with someone. For $ 3 extra you can add a side of tots and a drink. The side of tots also is enough to feed an army! Great tots! I’d come back again. Service was fast and they accept debit and credit cards which is convenient!

I had their Jam I am grilled cheese sandwich and I must say that it was the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had. I’m a big fan of sweet and salty combinations and this grilled cheese is exactly that. I also had the remedial tots which were delicious and had a nice crunch to them. Their service was fast and they were all really nice. Thank you for coming out and providing us your services!

Growing up, recess was always my favorite time of day. I mean, the learning and whatnot was fine but having the chance to run around and play foursquare? Well that was the jam. As a grown up, I’m here to tell you that Recess is still awesome. Eat at Recess, the food truck, that is.(Although, let’s be real a play break everyday would be pretty rad.) My favorite parts of recess? The buffalo chicken salad and the tater tots. One balances out the other, right? Anyway. Soooo good. So good. Yum. My only wish is that they came to my new job location the way they did my temporary job location(which was a couple times a month.) I mean, my waistline and wallet are glad, but not my taste buds!

I saw the food truck on a walk around the business area and boy was I pleasantly surprise. Ordered a bully burger combo. The combo adds a drink and tots to my burger for an extra $ 3. Had a Shipley temple and that wasn’t bad. Haven’t had one in a while. Tots were also pretty average to me but the portion did surprise me. Came in one of those square to go boxes filled to the brim. I could see the Tots being fantastic with that nachos or truffle oil, but on a normal order, tasted like Tots. Nothing special. I’m on the fence with the bully burger. The onion and bbq sauce was not sloppy and properly cooked. The burger held its own without falling all over the place. I would like to taste a bit more other than the caramelized onions and faint bbq sauce. The bun was toasted too, so in retrospect, I would like a bit more flavor to the meat. Probably would order a different burger next time.

I was driving to Costco in Mission Valley and happened to pass by the Recess food truck. I remember seeing it on Unilocal and decided to check out the menu on their website. Burgers, sandwiches, tots were a few of their selections and just what I was looking for. I was the first in line and ordered the crossing guard sando for $ 7. It is a chicken sandwich on a brioche bun with tomatoes and spring mix. I swapped the garlic aioli for chipotle bbq and added bacon for an additional $ 1.50. I also added their standard tots and a drink for $ 3.00. My food came out quickly. The tots are a nice change of pace from french fries. They were hot and crispy on the outside and light and fluffy when you bite into them. I could have used a little more seasoning for my preference. Portion size of the tots is also was good, enough for two people unless you are a heavy eater. They also have a self serve ketchup pump under the pickup window which is excellent for people like me that love a sauce with our fries or tots. The chicken sandwich was also delightful. The bacon was a nice thick cut piece and added to my enjoyment of the sandwich. I didn’t taste much of the sauce nor did it taste spicy at all. They do offer boylan beverages which is cool. It is also a nice change of pace of coke for me. They do not offer boylans cane cola flavor though which is what I prefer. Instead I got a coke which is poured in a plastic cup. One of the customers behind me asked if they had coke in plastic bottles but they did not. Total after tax and tip was $ 13 for a sandwich, tots and a drink. That is more than I usually want to spend on a quick lunch but I enjoyed my food and would come back with my friends. They also offer online ordering.

Today I ordered the Hide & Ceasar salad and got a black cherry soda. The salad is pretty good. I’ve had the asian studies salad here as well before and that one is good too. You can add chicken to the salads for $ 2 more. I didn’t add chicken today but I’ve had it with it and it’s good with it. The burgers here are really good. I can’t remember which ones I’ve had but they’re basically smothered with bbq sauce goodness. They’re pretty huge and definitely worth it. The tots here are pretty bomb too. You can order it 3 different ways I think. All are worth trying once to figure out which one you like the best. But anyone you choose is good. The food here is pretty good and reasonably priced. Not so expensive for the burgers and tots. This place is definitely worth trying if you’re in the mood for a good burger and tots your way!

One of the best gourmet food trucks in UTC. This truck visits my area every Monday and by far has the longest lines. So I waited in line to find out what all the fuss was about. I ordered the«Red Light District» — vegetarian turkey, caramelized onions, diced jalapeño, Havarti, and Recess sauce on sourdough. When I opened up the sandwich to peek inside, I noticed a lot of chopped Jalapeño peppers. I was worried that the peppers would be way too hot(recalling my bad experience at BABS burgers where their Jalapeño slices were Mexican style(Extra hot). I was so happy after I ate a few bites of this sandwich and these peppers were more«Tame» than a «Torture» variety. While my nose did become runny a little bit, the sandwich was a great mix of flavors. The best part was the orange curdled Recess Sauce and Havarti Cheese mix that oozed out the pores of the sourdough holes. Wow, pretty good flavor pop. The sandwich was really good for lunch, and I will be trying this food truck again!

This is one of my favorite places to indulge at with some of my favorite childhood lunches. My favorite is the tator tots! I highly recommend them! The AP Tots are my go to… they come lightly toasted with truffle oil and feta cheese. This is a fantastic combo that will satisfy any palate. The Remedial Tots are my second favorite but equally tasty. Crispy tots seasoned with Bacon Salt and topped with cheddar and Recess signature sauce. I mean, how can you go wrong with that? As far as burgers and sandwiches, the Bully is one of my favorites: a 1/3lb grass-fed, Certified Humane® patty, top it with applewood smoked bacon, spicy BBQ sauce, grilled onions and cheddar. Yummo! For days where you just need a little extra cheese, try the Gold Star Grilled Cheese. They melt thick slices of aged sharp cheddar, havarti, and good ‘ol American between fresh sourdough bread. My favorite salad is the Capture the Cobb: Crisp organic romaine, applewood smoked bacon, avocado, egg, sharp cheddar, cherry tomatoes, and CrouTots. Mikey likes it with chunky Blue Cheese. But honestly, any of their salads are yummy. This is not the place to eat at if you are trying to watch your calories but for those that need to indulge… go! The prices are a bit steep so make sure the wallet is full!

Second time visiting this truck because my first time was memorable. I so happen to visit this truck both times at the HRE Wheels Open House. Their Simon Says Southwest salad is bomb, filling, and a lot of goodness! I just finished my Totchos and their grass-fed burger meat is delicious! Tots were fried to a crisp and not soggy. Perfection!

We booked Recess for a corporate event; they did a fantastic job! We had a tight window to feed 100 people; all of our guests were served within 20 – 30 minutes & the presentation was awesome. That’s impressive! Would definitely rebook for future events.

Recess continues to impress. The tater tots are still delicious as ever, and the inventive sandwiches satisfy. Recess upped its game recently and added 6 – 8 new menu items. I’ve tried a couple and concluded that they’re worthy additions! I’m a fan of the«swim team», which is sorta a tuna salad but with a super light mayo. It’s clear that he staff on the truck really love working there! Always a pleasure to visit at my office on Fridays.

We worked with Eat at Recess for our Easter garden party a few weeks ago. We loved the menu, and the look of the truck fit in so well with our family friendly event. The service was great, the food was fresh and they were able to work within our budget. Definitely recommend this yummy food truck! And do order the club sandwich and the Shirley Temple. Yum!

I love the tots here. And I love the fact you can go online and buy your lunch and just go to the truck and pick it up! It’s my Wednesday TOT place :) The burgers/chicken is also very good. Just remember if you are going to order to go pick up you need to get your order in before 11am. I wish more food trucks would have that ability.

I swear this food truck fullfils my grilled cheese sandwich and tatertot cravings. This time around, I wanted to try something else other than my standard Gold Star Grilled Cheese with bacon. It was the Jam I Am that caught my eye. A grilled cheese sandwich with organic strawberry jam? Hrmmm… It could work… or not. The guy who took my order said it was«phenomenal». I was a bit hesitant because I really didn’t want to be disappointed. Nothing like trying to feed a craving only to find out it sucked ass later. I took the Jam I Am and AP Tots to go. The moment I got to my desk, I unwrapped my sandwich and stared at my sandwich for a minute and chanted to myself, «This better taste good. This better taste good.» Suffice it to say, it tasted good. In that weird kinda way — sweet, buttery, salty, cheesey. I inhaled the sandwich in record time. The tots were delish, as usual. I’m happy that lunch didn’t suck ass. =P If you happen to find the truck at the 3131 Camino del Rio N location, the parking lot offers 1 hour free parking. Don’t be lazy and parking your car on the fire lane, behind the food truck. You’ll cause a traffic jam.

Recess is AWESOME! One of my fave food trucks ever! Such a great combination of great food and great people running the truck. They have a lot of good options, I like the Chess Club sandwich(chicken and avocado) with a side of AP tots. They are genius to think of putting feta and truffle oil on tots, YUM! Also, you’ve got to try the Jam I Am grilled cheese sandwich at least once, you never would guess that strawberry jam and grilled cheese would taste so amazing together, the perfect combo of sweet and savory. The guys who work on the truck genuinely look like they are having a great time and are really friendly too. I definitely recommend giving them a try when they are in your area!
