Love this new find in Little Italy. Beautiful rooftop patio to sip your coffee and enjoy the yummy treats. We got the Mexican chocolate donut, sweet milk chocolate on a white fluffy donut. Also liked the peanut butter and jelly donut. Not too PB&J, fluffy donut with a lite peanut butter glaze filled with a strawberry whip cream filling. Delicious.

Stopped by this cute donut shop while walking around Little Italy. 2 donuts and a nitro cold brew came out to $ 12, a little steep but the donuts were delicious! We got the tiramisu and the Boston cream, both very yummy! The worker was sweet enough to give us a free pb&j donut and that was actually my favorite of the 3! The donuts had great texture and the glazes/fillings weren’t obnoxiously sweet. I’ll definitely be returning for more.

I don’t give 5 stars easily but I was so impressed with this place today. We had just eaten some lunch but weren’t really satisfied and we were looking for a little sweet treat! We started walking and found this place. Super bummed because it looked interesting but they had just closed. I saw a lady sitting on the side and decided to ask her how it was. Well it ends up it was one of the owners… She chatted about the donuts and what to try and the other owner ran inside and came back with a free tres leches donut and some donut holes. We were floored! That’s amazing customer service. The tres leches was superb! The donut holes were good but not the best I’ve ever had. I will be back for sure to try some other flavors and I better go early before they are all gone next time!!!

The wife and I traveled to San Diego this past weekend, and we were fortunate enough to have stayed across the street from this place. I continued to wonder why there was a line forming every morning at this place, so I had to see for myself. To say that I loved it is an understatement! I first tried the breakfast sandwich, and was blown away by how soft the bread(or doughnut) was. I was trying to be a good boy, but that sandwich truly pulled the devil out of me. I then tried the Tres Leches Doughnut(AMAZING)…then I bought a half dozen to share my findings with others. Mark my words, «this place will be world famous someday.» I’m from Chicago(where food was great), and live in DC now(where food sucks); this place needs to expand. It would be welcomed in Chicago, and we absolutely NEED this in DC. BTW, get there early because once they sell out they close up shop. I really like that concept too – I heard some people don’t, but I think that adds to its appeal.

Oh man, I really do love this spot. Place: This place takes the cake, or donut in this case. North end of Little Italy on Kettner. Order at the little window, seating on the side and on the roof. Go to the roof and soak in the San Diego weather and great views of Little Italy and the San Diego Bay. Great, just freakin inspiring. Service: Easy, see what you want through the window, and order at the little window, simple. Price: Average for a gourmet donut shop, not as pricey as other gourmet donut shops but certainly an up cost from your mom and pop donut shop. Food/Drink: the donuts I found to be really good. I have tried several of them and they all have been really unique and tasty, not the best I ever had but certainly you should not be disappointed either. Coffee I personally found to just be okay.

I am kind of disappointed with the limited offerings. If you are going to build a donut shop… please try to make it worth it to traverse thru that Little Italy traffic vector. First of all, New Year’s Day, my favorite place(because it’s close by and cheap and have some of my favorites-choco chip donut with choco filling) Donut Star was closed. So I check on Unilocal to see who is open close by. I heard about Devil’s Dozen so I call and they say they are open. NY day so parking was not as hard, really I just parked in front and had my hazard lights on because I had the pooch with me. They had a very limited selection. I needed a donut with cream filling for the hubby(that’s all he really asks for) so they had the boston cream filled one(instead of round, it’s elongated). I buy two just in case. I also purchase 6 donut holes, 3 of each of what they offered for the day, regular and cinnamon. Although it was okay, 50 cents for a donut hole that is barely there is not cheap. I expected the price but was underwhelmed by the hole. The hubby thought that the cream filling was little light so basically a long donut with chocolate icing and little cream filling. Now before you all think this is too suggestive, elongated, cream filling, I am more concerned that I spent $ 8.00 on donuts and we weren’t able to climax. Oh forget it! Maybe I will come again when my regular place is closed but I will not hold open my hole for another visit.

It’s alright. Way better than the popular donut bar. Had no line and donuts had better texture and flavor than donut bar. A little to expensive for not great donuts though. Meh probably won’t be back.

Gourmet donuts in Little Italy? Sign me up. There are more donuts available than what is advertised on the sign, so if you see something you like in the case make sure to ask. I got the nutella donut with hazelnuts($ 3). It was pretty amazing! There is seating upstairs and on the side of the building. The upstairs patio is my favorite because there is a beautiful view of the harbor. There is also water available on the patio, but oddly no napkins, so make sure to grab a few before you get on the rooftop patio. Devil’s Dozen is located next to Kettner Exchange and across the street from Waterfront, so it makes me wish this place was open in the evening, because these amazing donuts would be pretty incredible after the bars. Currently the donut shop is open in the mornings Thursday — Saturday.

The donuts go fast here so I knew to get my happy rump in line early Saturday morning which was at the crack of 9:30. Yeah, I’m not much of a morning person. The line moved pretty fast and the little shop is basically a walk up and order type of place. Donuts run a bit more than your local joint. Mine was like $ 2.50. The flavor so are inventive and it’s fun to try something new. The donuts were a bit small. I could easily eat two in one sitting and I don’t usually eat a bunch at one time. Go and check it out and see if you find your magic flavor. I wouldn’t make a super special trip out here just to try it though.

Cinnamon and Sugar doughnuts are my favorites and when I saw this new doughnut shop opened in the middle of Little Italy, well you know. I stopped in early and ordered a cup of coffee and that said cinnamon sugar doughnut. The doughnut was $ 2.50 and the small coffee $ 1.75. The doughnut was fantastic! First of all, they use whole cane sugar which made a world of a difference, compared to other cinnamon sugar doughnuts. The doughnut was heavily coated with that great sugar and natural cinnamon. The doughnut was super moist and fluffier than I thought it was going to be. The dough portion of the doughnut tasted great and had hint of vanilla. I’m not sure if it was added but whatever it was, it sure tasted great. The coffee was from Virtuoso which was great. Service at the front ordering window was very good. The young lady was not only informative, but also very friendly and in high spirits. They offer a few tables along side the establishment and more on the roof patio with plug ins for electronics and such. There is no inside seating. I will pay $ 2.50 for this cinnamon and sugar doughnut, but not many others…

I love waking up on saturdays knowing that there is a flavorful donut waiting for me at this random donut shop in little italy. The only day this place disapponted me is when they were sold out by 11am, but take that as a compliment Devil’s crew. Congrats! Continue to seek for perfection on every donut made and I will continue to be all in!

Yeah. Pretty expensive donuts! BUT here is what I like: The view from the rooftop patio The coffee is pretty good and they have these yummy little churro bites. The donuts are okay too. One I like is called the smores, but they only have it on certain days. Limited selection daily so you might not get what you want at each visit. BUT I wish they named it something else too… :(not even really sure how that play’s into things… Baker’s Dozen might have been a more appealing and sensical name on the outset. The demon mascots and the odd symbols on the awning are pretty off putting. I Google searched the name and it’s like this horrible reference to a horror movie or a book about serial killers. Also, refers to a book about 13 demonic rites. I’m just not comfortable with it all. So yeah, the donuts are expensive for donuts. The location and patio are great. But I won’t pay for them again. Over $ 30 for a dozen donuts; just can’t justify. I MIGHT pay for them again if they’d rebrand. I am in little Italy daily. Anyways maybe it’s for the best. I don’t need to eat many donuts anyhow.

The donuts are good, what sours the experience are the prices. This is our third visit and every time the prices astound me. It’s my first time ordering a dozen donuts and that about sealed the deal for me. Any business who charges over $ 15.00 for a dozen donuts, better make PHENOMENAL donuts. These are good, but not even close to great. When they revamp the prices I’ll be back. Until then… It’s simply not worth it. The Donut Bar has a better selection and the prices are better. In this competitive market if you don’t make a change, you’re going to fail. Which is sad, because this a great location and the donuts are actually decent. Bottom line, spending $ 10-$ 33 for a single donut or a dozen is simply not money well spent. There are better places in San Diego, who provide so much more, for so much less.

So i found this place on instagram last week. Naturally i was curious and intrigued so i planned to stop by after work one day. Well, i finally got the chance so i drove by and alas, they were closed. It was 0640… I get home and check their instagram, they open at 0700! So i change out of my work clothes and head back down to Devil’s Dozen Donut Shop. It’s a small, little(donut) hole in the wall, space next to Kettner Exchange The lady that helped me was nice and helpful. Didnt get her name tho. I ordered a smores donut, churro bites and cinnamon sugar donut holes with a house blend café virtuoso coffee. Smores donut was nice and airy, not too sweet, and the churro bites and donut holes are good as well. Only thing, the coffee cup melted on the short, less than 5 minute drive home. Maybe i got a faulty cup? Otherwise, coffee was good, drank it black when i normally use creamer or sugar and half & half. I want to try the nitro coffee next time tho.

Love the upstairs patio, with bay view(who knows how long this will last with the pace of development)…Add points for serving locally roasted coffee(café virtuso), cold brew, and nitro. We ordered a dozen assorted, and I had a bite of each. The doughnuts were tasty, and fried well, light when appropriate, heavy when appropriate. The service was friendly and fast. Minus stars for the cost, $ 33 for a dozen doughnuts isn’t justified.

Let me start off by saying that the three doughnuts we tried were excellent. Each doughnut had a slightly crispy golden outside and spongy/cakey center. They are much denser than airy Krispy Kreme doughnuts and we’re not greasy. They are not dry either. They all had wonderful flavors, tasted homemade, and we’re not too sweet like other doughnuts(i.e. cloying). Their take on the classic vanilla glaze was our favorite. It has a vanilla sugar glaze that has a hint of saltiness. It’s the best vanilla glaze we’ve ever had(honestly). The churro doughnut(cinnamon and sugar) was a close second. The Mexican chocolate doughnut was very good, but it’s flavor was more subtle than the others. With this level of praise I would give 5 stars for these delicious doughnuts; however, I have an issue with, what I feel to be, high prices for the doughnuts. I paid $ 8 for only three doughnuts! I’ve lived in Little Italy for 20 years and have seen the neighborhood change from mild mannered Italian restaurants to up and coming hipster cuisine, so I understand that rents are high and the neighborhood is hot, but roughly $ 3 a doughnut is excessive to me. I make a good salary, but an average person would need to work an hour to buy just three doughnuts! I understand that this is meant to be a boutique establishment and I do want them to turn a profit; however, I feel that they will be even more successful(doughnuts flying off the baking racks) and equitable if they lowered their prices a bit. Just saying! I wish them the best though… At this price point the Devil’s Dozen will only be a special occasion stop for me rather than a regular drop in. Maybe their prices will keep my waistline smaller. In all seriousness they are great doughnuts, just over priced in my humble opinion.

House blend coffee, glazed buttermilk old fashioned, and churro bites were all AMAZING. Cute little place in little Italy; about a 5 min walk from tram green line. You can eat at the tables on the side of the building or upstairs on the roof. There was a small line when I got there at 7 for their opening. Prices were typical for a good place. Would have given 5 stars, but I was very disturbed that no one was wearing gloves and just handling the doughnuts with bare hands…
