Debonair Barber and Shave Parlor

Been getting chopped up at Debonair for 3 – 4 months now and have gotten a solid cut every time. Shout out to Jonathan for his mad skills; he takes his time, has a dope personality, and gets me in any time I hit him up. Definitely go see this guy if you’re looking for a barber shop downtown. The shop itself is clean and the vibe is chill. A+++ go check it out.

New again to town and needed a haircut. I’m low maintenance but appreciate the sights, sounds, smells and feel of an old school barbershop. This joint has it in spades and Jonathan did an outstanding job cutting my hair exactly how I wanted it. I’ll definitely be back.

I walked in, gave Justin minimal direction on the cut and shave I wanted, had a beer and my day was better. This was exactly the experience I needed. This was definitely the best haircut I’ve ever had. Justin is rare combination of a laid back, humorous perfectionist. I wish I lived in San Diego so I could get my haircut at debonair regularly!

S/​O out to debonair baber shop, they provide great quality cuts and all their barbers and very professional. If you need a great haircut debonair is the place to go. Ask for Johnny V. Im my opinion he’s the best barber there. No need to worry out the type of hair you have either.

If you ever need a haircut this is the spot to go to. I’ve been to a number of barbershops in the city but none compare to this one. The people in there are super chill, I’m excited and looking forward to their move to the new location. I got my haircut by ALEX, hands down the best I’ve came across. He’s great at cutting all kinds of hair and is passionate about his craft. Definitely a must check out. I’m glad I found a barber here in SD, I’m new to the area and picky about my hair! I used to go to Floyd’s across the street, but they fucked up my hair twice in a row so I gave up. This time when I started to get a little ragged, I checked out Debonair. It’s like night and day in every way. Where Floyd’s is a bunch of cackling hens bitching about their day while using creepy hand massagers on middle-​aged men, Debonair is a bunch of men’s men standing around bullshitting about guy stuff while dusting you up with legit horse hair brushes filled with talc. As far as I know, they don’t do color, or highlights, or shampoos, or face massages, or hot towels over your cucumber-​laden eyes. What they do is cut your fucking hair and turn you into a dapper lady-​killer son-​of-​a-​bitch.
Here’s a description of each star I gave them:
Star #1: Rico paid attention to what he was doing. He didn’t run me through the same template haircut he gives everyone else in the world. Instead, he talked about how every haircut is different. The haircut took a little longer because he’s a perfectionist. This really hit me when I saw some other guy sweeping the floor. You know how most places have long shreds of hair on the floor? The scrap hair on the floor at Debonair looks like dust. Why? Because they don’t just run the clippers over your head and boot you out the door. They keep going over it, getting this one tiny piece that was missed the first time; going back over the hairline and trimming the last ¹⁄₃₂ of an inch so you look fucking perfect.
Star #2: I spend enough time listening to girls bitch about stuff. I don’t need to deal with that while I’m getting my hair cut. At Debonair, the guys are taunting each other, bullshitting, telling stories, and just hanging out. Imagine if a few of your guy friends cut hair in their garage and all your buddies got together every month to screw around, listen to music, and have your barber friends cut your hair. It’s kind of like that.
Star #3: Rico offered me a beer. He didn’t actually have a beer because they had run out, but the bimbos over at Floyd’s never offered me shit except a bunch of overpriced hair wax.
Star #4: Nobody’s trying to sell me a bunch of shit I don’t need. In fact, Rico recommended that for my hair I go down to Target and pick up some coconut hair oil. He said it would work well with my hair texture and give my hair more of a matte look.
Star #5. My girlfriend fucking LOVES my haircut. She’s super fashionable, super honest, and notices little details about things. If she likes it, I know they did a good job.
So thanks Rico! I’ve been walking around like a fucking pimp all day because I know I look good. Solid!

I’m originally from Brooklyn and am a bit suspect walking into any barbershop. I def got a good vibe from this barbershop. Got seated by the Justin the owner and within half hour I left spiced up. Needless to say I found a new barber!

Looking for a good fade is tough so I was very skeptical. Found these guys on Unilocal and tried it. It’s a cool little spot and took me as a walk in pretty quick. No wait.
I’m very satisfied with the care the barber took with my cut. (35 – 40 min) It’s also about the customer service and they passed. Great job fellas.

Stopped by here couple weeks ago when I needed a haircut badly. I was in town for the weekend and never really spent time in San Diego so relied on Unilocal to find a quality barber and Unilocal ratings were absolutely correct, if not understated.
I didn’t make a reservation but they fitted me in as a walkin. Probably one of the best cuts I’ve gotten.
I wish I could find same quality barbers in my city!
Also, they have an awesome dog who’s also very friendly so that’s always a plus for me

Rico is the best. I’m Korean and my hair is tough to cut because it’s thick and my head has random dents, but Rico’s a pro and I walked out with one of the best fades and the cleanest cut in a while. If you’re looking for a barber downtown, you have to stop by. And they only charge $ 25… that’s ridiculously cheap, trust me I know cuz I’m Asian ;)

I drive from Phoenix AZ to San Diego to see Jonathan at Debonair. He knows his stuff and always makes me look good. He’s also a cool dude. Hit him up. I like the feel of the place and the camaraderie of the associates.. Good work.

Jonathan did an awesome job on my hair, the way he styled it looked really cool. He also gave me a great shave and did an excellent job trimming and shaping my beard. The shop has a good vibe and is relaxing! I will come back next time that I am in San Diego ! Thanks again Johnathan.

I showed up with scraggly longish hair and just told the barber to clean it up. I wasn’t very specific. He cut it perfect. I have found my barbershop in San Diego.
Plus there’s a crazy adorable french bulldog that was hanging around.

I’ve been to many barber shops here in San Diego. Never been to the same one twice, and I’m happy to say I think I’ve finally found my mainstay.
Right off the bat, these guys were relaxed and welcoming as I came in. They offered me a drink, and had me waiting less than ten minutes before getting in a chair. I believe I sat down with Justin — highly recommend him — he knew exactly what I was looking for just from a 2 – 3 sentence description. It’s obvious these dudes pay attention to detail. When I got a better chance to check out the cut, I was very impressed. Faded perfectly, a nice hard part, and perfect length on top. Not a single complaint or suggestion.
It’s really cool that they like to joke around and have fun too. They’re constantly ragging on each other, making it clear that they like to have a good time and kick it. It’s a cash only business, but there is an ATM on the inside.
Overall, awesome experience. I will be going back after trying 8+ barber shops in the area. Great cut, great price, chill dudes, relaxed environment. Recipe for success. 5/​5, hands down.

Great location and good vibe. Idk who my husband went to (just there for the weekend) but he liked his haircut and that is rare! Everyone in their can cut and anyone’s hair. They had white people, Hispanic people and my husband is black. Idk how fair the pricing is but Chris paid like 25 (including a tip) for a cut, line up and a fade. I don’t much about haircuts so work with me. We also seen lil terrio getting a haircut. Lol OOOO KILLLL EMMM the wait is not bad and it was a Friday. We waited for like 30 mins at the most.

Visiting from LA. I dropped my boyfriend off who desperately needed a cut based on Unilocal reviews and walking distance in Gas lamp. $ 25 for basic cut. There was a wait. They offered him water, soda they even had beer.
My boyfriend wasn’t fond of the music but the place is nice and has a cute mustache bench outside. He came out looking great. Very clean and looked good. My boyfriend is asian so sometimes we have a hard time finding people who know how to cut his thick hair. No problems here!

Today made the mistake of going to Floyds 99 chain store barbers and got butchered. Not realizing it was a chain till too late.
Luckily I had heard of Debonair and stopped into there for a fix. Thank god I did. So much care to small details and one of the best fades ive had. And cheap to (compared to sydney prices).
Shop had a cool vibe and the guys knew what they were doing. I recommend this to all looking for a proper barbershop cut! :)
