There are a lot of great tofu places to go to in Mira Mesa, but I think D&C Tofu House is one of my favorites. It’s located in the plaza with Siam Nara, Boiling Crab, T-Pop’s, Rite Aid, and so forth, so the parking is always guaranteed to be good(a +1 imo!). Since I live in San Diego, it tends to be pretty warm year round which means that I don’t always feel like ordering soup. Because of that, I don’t have much experience with the tofu soup so I won’t be focusing too much on that. What I do really like to get here, though, is the bulgogi. SOGOOD. The pancake is also really good, as are the wings. I’m not much of a wing person in the first place, but I’ll actually finish these with no problem. They’re seasoned just right and don’t feel greasy at all. In addition to all of this, the service is always prompt and quick. If I want more side dishes(nomnomnom) or need to be refilled on water or whatever, the staff at D&C are very good at fulfilling those requests in a timely manner. What I have noticed is that things can be empty at times. I have no idea WHY D&C is empty whenever I go as everything here is great, but I think it may be because of its location? It doesn’t really stick out, especially when it’s right next to Siam Nara or Boiling Crab(which are always poppin’), so I assume that may be the culprit. Either way, this place is a hidden gem and I love to eat here!

I convinced my coworkers who have never tried tofu pot to try it out for lunch. I’ve been to a bunch of tofu houses in Convoy but never this one, but this one is a lot closer to my work so I decided to try this place out for the first time. I got the tofu pot + tonkatsu combo for a very reasonable price of $ 13(I believe the lunch prices are $ 2 – 3 cheaper than dinner), and most of my coworkers got a similar combo too(tofu pot + meat). I thought it tasted very good and the portions were fairly large. Most of us ended up with leftovers and took the leftovers in to-go boxes. My coworkers all enjoyed the food too, which I was happy about because it was all of their first times trying it and I didn’t know what to expect from this restaurant. All in all, I enjoyed my meal here and it is comparable to the other tofu houses in Convoy. I will be back.

Okay 1 — why haven’t I been here before? And 2 — why don’t they have a better review? It was a rainy(well drizzling) day in SD and like anyone else I was craving some phở, but the place next door was crazy packed so tofu soup sounded like a good runner up. It did not disappoint!!! Prices were good, I liked the menu variety, and the food was great. I got the original beef tofu soup and it was delicious! Great portion also and the servers were nice. I would definitely recommend and I will be back!

My co-workers placed a group lunch order and got an assortment of goodies. I ordered the seafood tofu soup. Delicious tasting but more like soft tofu with a couple shrimp, a couple of mussels, and some broth. There was ALOT of tofu – almost half of the 24(?) ounce cup. No noodles or veggies, but still good. I just would have liked a little more seafood, ya’ know?(However, I’ve always been of the thought that to-go orders get skimped on by restaurants because they know that once you’ve left it’s not worth it to complain.) I tried a salad that tasted like seaweed but was made with spinach – pretty good. Peanuts soaked in some sort of sweet/salty brown sauce – also pretty good. The mashed potatoes had tiny carrot pieces in it and that was actually ok.

Very hard to find a good Korean restaurant in Mira mesa. It is definitely a great find. Korean pancake is delicious but the kimchi fry rice is the best. Must try this. Calbi and bugogi are great.

In comparison to a lot of the other tofu houses, this is on the lower end of the spectrum for me. My boyfriend really likes the Tofu House directly on Mira Mesa Blvd, but I convinced him to try this spot for a change of pace. When we went on a weeknight for dinner, it was nearly empty. Probably only 2 other couples inside, and one waitress. Seated immediately(obviously) and were able to order quickly. The menu is pretty small, but had everything we wanted. I love vegetable tofu stew and the one here was perfectly good to me(I’m not too picky). Tons of tofu in both of our soups, we left extremely full. It’s about the standard price for a bowl of tofu stew ~$ 10. I would say everything about this place is just pretty standard/average.

This place is just OK. The tofu soup is better at the little shop inside the Zion market. But if you are in north county and don’t want to drive down to Convoy/Clairemont, this is an OK option. I don’t really like Mira Mesa. Too many weirdos and bad drivers. But if you are in the area and need a shot of tofu soup, this place is just fine. Its a pretty large, spacious place and its bright in the daytime. That’s nice. But the waiters and waitresses were Mexican, not Korean. That sort of defeats the purpose of coming to a Korean restaurant. I’d like my banchan from a real hangukin, hasibsio.

We’ve been here twice now, and had a good experience both times. The service has been very good, the portions large and the prices reasonable. The tofu soups are excellent, and the banchan are all delcious. They also offer to refill the banchan, so that’s a plus. The only minus was the first time we ordered the bulgogi and it was too sweet. Definitely get the Hot Stone Plate!

I’ve been to this place many times and I definitely think they’ve shown so much improvement since they first opened. I noticed that on some days their tofu soup is bland and sometimes its super spicy when I only wanted a mild flavor. I’ve been back a couple times after those less than satisfactory experiences and I absolutely believe they worked out the kinks! Food is always flavorful, at the correct level of spiciness, and the servers are super friendly. I always order their veggie bibimbap combo and I have to say it’s worth checking out even for those who are carnivores because the mushrooms serve as the meat replacement in my opinion. I would also recommend the bulgogi, spicy chicken, and galbi combos. Not to mention their side dishes are delicious and always fresh. This place is never crowded but I hope that it will change soon because its worth checking out! I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in need of tofu soup or kbbq in mira mesa.

Yes! You can never have too many options for tofu soup! It’s located in the same complex as Siam Nara, Tea Station, RiteAid, and a bunch of other shops so plenty of choices here as well as plenty of parking spots! When you walk in, the restaurant is nice and spacious and clean. You are greeted immediately and seated. It was pretty empty when we came in for dinner(around 530PM so a bit early for dinner). They have paper menus already on the table for you. Their menu isn’t too superfluous so it’s easy to make a choice! They have tofu soups, combos(include tofu soup and one other dish-grilled meat, etc), and entrees. I ordered the seafood noodle soup($ 8.99). The tofu soups are also $ 8.99. The service here is amazing. They kept refiling our waters and brought out the side dishes after we ordered. They even offered to bring us more side dishes! So delicious! The seafood noodle soup was delicious! I ordered Medium spicy which was perfect for me. Got a little bit of sweat on! They had a lot of noodles and seafood sides(squid, shrimp, veggies, etc) and the portion was pretty big for the price. My friend ordered a tofu soup combo with tonkatsu(lunch and dinner prices vary a little bit) and the tonkatsu was really delicious-nicely flavored and juicy! Great food, great service, and great prices! :)

RESTAURANT The restaurant is nice. Nothing outstanding though. SERVICE Service was quick and friendly. FOOD I had Galbi(Korean beef ribs) and Korean spicy fried chicken wings. Both were really good. I’m really happy I got ribs with almost no fatty parts. The fried chicken wings were not really hot. Just a spicy hint with a tad of sweetness but crispy and yummy. CONCLUSION I really like the food here. Everything else might not be great but ok.

Finding a Korean BBQ place with purple rice AND potato salad banchan which is my favorite is hard to find! This place had them both! Came here with my kids for an early dinner Saturday night and it was fairly empty. Inside is modern clean and bright which is almost unheard of for kbbq. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. I shared the Galbi short rib combo with my daughter and we still had plenty leftover! Big portions and good quality sides which are refillable. Ask for the purple rice it’s so delicious! The combo meal came with assorted tofu soup too… it came out piping out with clams and shrimp. Break and egg in it as soon as it arrives so it has time to cook. For $ 20 my daughter and I were beyond stuffed with plenty of leftover for lunch tomorrow for the both of us! I think I just found my favorite kbbq joint :) Parking is easy in a large shopping center!

Went here during the week for lunch and it was basically empty during the peak lunch hours too. Eventually we were the only ones eating at the restaurant. There were initially two staff running the restaurant but then one just randomly left. I got the pork bone soup and it was pretty mediocre. The meat wasn’t as tender/fall off the bone as I’m accustomed to. The broth was alright but didn’t particularly blow me away. The side dishes were pretty lackluster and my typical favorite which are the fish cake slices were very thin and tough in texture and not so great. The staff wasn’t very attentive and never checked up on us to ask if we wanted refill of side dishes or not. I’d personally reserve my pork bone soup cravings elsewhere.

Went here for dinner and was not impressed at all. First off, it was quite hot in the restaurant and they really needed to turn up the AC. Not much good I can say about this place other than there being plenty of seating available. So So: — Seafood pancake was small, lacked flavor, Seafood were only smaller pieces, and seemed to be cooked in a lot of oil. — Pork and kimchee tofu was very bland. Lacked a lot of flavor. tofu pieces seemed all broken as well. — Banchan nothing special here. they didn’t even have the pickled cucumber. I won’t be coming back here as there was nothing impressive.

My new favorite Korean food place! I love their ‘Beef Bulgogi.’ It is TENDER and slightly sweet, in a generous portion. One of the best bulgogi I have ever tasted. Their ‘Bibimbap Hot Stone rice plates’ are huge(bigger than other places) and delicious! Make sure to get the hot plate version. There is plenty of veggies and rice, and goes great with the accompanying hot sauce. I’ve only tried the ‘Assorted Tofu Soup,’ and it was just ‘ok’ for me. It comes with 1 – 2 pieces of beef, shrimp, and clam. It tasted a little too ‘fishy’ for me, so I wasn’t fond of it. However, I will try the other soups. The appetizers are yummy — I like that their kimchi is slightly sweet, not just spicy. I also love their brown rice. It is really a purple color, soft and slightly oily. Yum! Service is excellent and efficient here, and they have large tables for bigger groups. Very clean restaurant. Plenty of parking in the lot. Highly recommended!

I wish I could give this place a higher rating, but it really was just a-okay. It’s a nice spacious restaurant with a modern feel to it. Went here on a cold evening in hopes of warming up my tummy with soon dubu. The soon dubu definitely warmed up my tummy, but that’s kind of all it did. I ordered the seafood one with just mild spiciness. There really wasn’t much flavor to the soup, which made me sad. It just tasted really bland to me and there wasn’t that much seafood either. It was just a LOT of tofu with 2 pieces of shrimp, 2 — 3 clams, and a few oysters. I was disappointed. Their sides were good though. I probably won’t be coming back as there are other better places out there.

Another great Korean experience in SD. Step in to a clean and spacious place that I didn’t expect from the outside. Very quiet inside but greeted right away by a nice woman running the place. Basic Korean menu, but everything on it looked good. I love seeing a menu I can order blindly from and be happy. I go for an iced green tea and a spicy kimchi, pork, tofu soon. Green tea comes out and it was so thirst quenching. Looked strong, but a little light tasting. Banchan hits the table with the soon 5 steps behind it. Everything looks and smells great. All the banchan was very good. Best potatoes I’ve had in a Korean spot. The soon was pretty standard but a little spicier than most. Broth was delicious, the rest was a little more bland than expected. All in all great experience. Shocked more people weren’t here. Super value and delicious food.

Been here three(yep, 3) times in a span of two weeks. And — it was during that wretched heat wave when San Diego was burning to the ground. Yet I’m giving this place 4 stars so that should mean somethin’. D&C Tofu is located in the same strip mall as The Boiling Crab, Phở Ban Mai, and Popeye’s Chicken. I love finding Korean restaurants in Mira Mesa as it’s a lot closer to me than(driving to) Convoy. They have nice lunch specials and I’ve tried a variety of items: — Assorted Soon Tofu + Spicy Pork for $ 13.99 You can ONLY choose the Assorted Tofu(beef, shrimp, clam) for their lunch special combos. There are 5 spice levels you can choose from. I chose the highest«Danger». I enjoyed this soon tofu quite a bit. The silken tofu tasted so soft and required little effort to chew. The spicy pork was tender and some pieces were nicely fatty. I never eat the grilled onions but I’m sure others would appreciate these onions caramelizing under the spicy pork. — Tonkatsu + Assorted Soon Tofu combo was priced at $ 11.99 The tofu was again delicious and the Danger spice level is indeed SUPERSPICY. The fried pork cutlet was a wonderful portion but the pork was horribly flattened(resulting in the meat being fried too dry). The only saving grace for this fried cutlet dish was D&C’s homemade tonkatsu sauce(I THINK that’s what the waitress told me about the sauce). — Dumplings $ 5.99 Cousin ordered this for the kids. I thought it tasted pre packaged. — Galbi + Soon Tofu lunch special combo $ 15.99 The most expensive item on the lunch special combos. Sis and cousin(who also ordered the Galbi + Soon combo) enjoyed these ribs. The marinade wasn’t terribly sweet and we all felt the short ribs had a nice fat to meat ratio. — Vegetable Soon Tofu $ 8.99: Squash, Mushroom, Broccoli, and Onion I liked this dish and I usually never order just ‘vegetables’ for my spicy tofu — Tofu Salad + Soon Tofu lunch combo $ 11.99 Cousin’s husband had this. Maybe that’s why I ordered the vegetable tofu. He’s recently dropped a ton of weight from going vegan or something. Not sure what to say about the tofu salad because, um, it’s a tofu salad. I am a fan of this tofu house though. It’s the best Korean tofu house in Mira Mesa in my opinion. Service can be spotty as one waitress was super nice(offered refills on empty banchan) while another waitress seemed annoyed whenever one needed a refill on water. My first visit gave me a headache as the noise level was insanely loud(there were customers with toddlers that day). D&C is a nice addition to Mira Mesa. It’s not a flashy place but it’s a great change of pace for someone like me that frequents Convoy to get her Korean tofu fix.
