I’ve have 5 or more dental implants — but have lost count. I do remember the two implants from an Oral Surgeon in Solana Beach that failed, and how MUCH more money I spent during both implants because the work was split between the oral surgeon for the implant(after a separate $ 650. expense for the panoramic scan) and another general dentist for the crown. Twice, until I woke up. Then faced with another implant need, I found Dr. Smith’s ad in the Union Tribune and chose him because of his photo. I wanted an EXPERIENCED dentist who had performed gobs of dental implants. The imparted value I wish you to leave with, are the pertinent facts: 1. Everything about the implant is done by Dr. Smith himself. There’s other dentist to blame a mistake on, thus putting the patient in the middle of a mess. The office team have all been with the office for many years. That counts. 2. His assistant Cathy is on the ball and anticipates his next move, which means your jaw doesn’t get cramped waiting on instruments to change hands. 3. The panoramic scans are taken in his office.(A rarity.) 4. If you ever have a problem here, you know whom to go back to for correction. 5. His dental implants are affordable and paid in increments. [Delta Dental patients may be covered for some of the costs.] Kristen is the office manager and will file the insurance claims for you. 6. Even their teeth whitener is the most current available, always the best, and even cheapest. $ 26.00 vs. $ 35 – 40. 7. I don’t look for bargains necessarily, but VALUE for my time and money spent. 8. The dental industry changes rapidly. Dr. Smith always has the latest in technology. 9. Dental implants need aftercare by a hygienist familiar with implants. Connie is a thorough dental hygienist with the tools for implant titanium. I switched from our local dentist office to Connie, because of their specialized implant aftercare. 10. Dr. Smith has also performed root canals since 1970. He enjoys the procedures and you will too. 11. I just had my worn-down«near-to-dentin» front teeth«bonded» and they look absolutely natural. Not a laminate that might make teeth seem a bit larger, this is a tooth matching polymer that blends, but the«art» of it is how Dr. Smith finishes them by hand. I’m totally happy with my reflection. Have your work expertly crafted on YOUR schedule, then have an espresso from the café in the courtyard. I ALWAYS feel good leaving Dr. Smith’s — and«on my merry way.» :)

i wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Carl Smith. My family and I have been seeing him for about 15 years and have had just about every kind of procedure done that is possible. He’s totally professional, as painless as you can expect when visiting the dentist, and he would NEVER suggest a treatment that was not warranted just to collect $$$. He is a highly ethical extremely professional and excellent dentist. I’m terrified he’s going to retire.

I’ve been coming to Dr. Smith for my whole life but the last time I was here I had a terribly hooked root on a wisdom tooth that had to come out. I had asked to be put under because of my anxiety but they couldn’t find a vein so I had to be awake for the procedure. Plenty of other professionals have found my veins but I guess that’s neither here nor there. It ended up being hours of grueling tugging and struggling to get my tooth out and it was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had a a dentist. I’m sure he didn’t anticipate it and I’m sure he didn’t like it either but I would have preferred it if he had just referred me to an orthodontic surgeon. If I had known it was going to be hours(I don’t remember how many but definitely more than two) of torture and sweating I would have taken the chance for a referral when I had one. It was such a bad experience that after a lifetime with Dr. Smith I can’t bring myself to go back. Very grateful for all the years he spent as my family’s dentist but maybe it’s time to retire now.
