To say Border X is a «Hidden Gem» might be a bit late… As if you are a resident of South Bay San Diego and have ever heard of Craft Beer, you have undoubtedly been in or heard of BorderX. The team here has succeeded in building a great tasting room with a very local feel, yet inviting and not«dive-y». Yup, I just invented a new word. Border X sports plenty of inside and outside room with tables and bar area. But for me, the real gem was of course the beers. If you havnt tried their«Blood» beer, then you need to. Post Haste! The hue is pretty spot on with Dracula in mind. But the beer itself is a citrus themed unfiltered wheat that is light enough to drink enough to get you in trouble, but packs enough taste to enjoy with most any food. You can also find some amazingly tasty stouts here inspired by the Mexican flavors only the South Bay can really offer. Get in here!

Went here on a Friday night. This is a tasting room in Barrio Logan. The ambiance is similar to other tasting room. The servers are hipsters and very friendly. They also are knowledgeable about the beers. We ordered a flight of beers. I enjoyed the flight of beers. The prices are good. The tasting room has several games that you can play while drinking. Despite not playing in the last 20 years, I dominated my girlfriend in several rounds of Connect 4. This was cool spot to try several beers and play a few games. There are food places nearby so it is a good place to start an evening.

Came here on a Tuesday evening to try some new beer with the Mrs. Ordered a flight that had Blood Saison, Grand Hefe, Abuelitas chocolate stout and horchata golden stout. All great beers but my personal favorite was the Gran Hefe but the Mrs had a taste for the Horchata golden stout. Definitely coming back!

Went with a coworker yesterday to try their beer and some food. I had their sampler/flight and it was amazing. My favorite two beer’s out of the sampler/flight were the Blood Saison and the Horchata Golden Stout. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, the music, the beer, the food, and the customer service. I recommended this brewery to all my friends and family already. I can’t wait to go back!!!

My goodness. I don’t give 5 stars very easily or often but this place is amazing. I love that there is no ipa on tap — the focus is with very original and unique beer flavors. Ambiance is relaxed, causal, and intimate — evidence of a brewery that is still focused on the craft of brewing and not the art of separating more customers from more of their $$. I had no clue what to order and the bartender was extremely helpful. She poured a flight of their signature beers plus an extra sample. All of them are delicious. My favorites: the Sour Flower is one of the best sour fruit ales I’ve ever tried and I’m from the Midwest where you can find New Glarus sour ales! The Horchata Golden Stout is absolutely fabulous with a bright golden color and warm flavors of caramel, spice, and vanilla. I did not order food but the menu seems simple but with many choices. Smells are very tantalizing. The staff here are friendly and helpful. Also a great place to meet locals who are friendly. My favorite brewery in SD thus far.

Favorite beer spot only a few steps from my apt. It takes me about 30 seconds to walk here #blessed. Their craft beers are the best i’ve had since I moved to SD. The Blood Saison 7.5% ABV and the Horchata Golden Stout 9.5% ABV will knock yo socks off. Have some beers go across the street eat some tacos at Salud. Thank me later.

I enjoyed my visit at Border X Brewing. I tried a few of the beer week specialties and they were awesome! The bar tender had a great amount of pride when serving and told me how the beer was crafted. Blood Saison and Abuelita’s Chocolate Stout are great. I recommend everyone try them out. I didn’t get to try the food but I definitely like that there is a kitchen ready to go! Lots of cool art and in a prime location. I plan on coming back to try the Horchata Golden Stout since it was sold out this past weekend.

Sick and chill place to go! Me and my buddy came here for the first time Tuesday afternoon. I didn’t get the name of the bartender but he was the manager. Cool guy and customers service was on point. He found out I spilled my taster and gave me another free. Really talkative bartender unlike other places I’ve gone too only trying to talk to regulars. FYI Don’t get the nopalito, not very good at the end.

Good music, good vibes, great people, pet friendly, and now even great food and appetizers and I could just keep going. This place is very community oriented, every event they host is like a family party. This place even has a lil gallery inside the place, and it’s always supporting the artists from the community. If you’re looking for great beer and ambiance this is the place for you.

This place has a chill atmosphere with great music and laid back people. The bartender explained the beer well and was easy to talk to. Ordered the flight and enjoyed every single beer. The favorite of the day was the Blood Saison but I’m sure that is no surprise to anyone who has been here. I will definitely return!

Awesome ambiance, very chill, vato art, open windows, parking in back, a few good eats to pick from… oh yeah, and the beer — amazing! Did I mention they were pet friendly? Only thing missing was wi-fi access code and a few T, V.‘s to watch the Padre/Charger games, just saying… ;)

My husband and I stopped at Border X after seeing all of the positive reviews on Unilocal. They had 5 standard and 4 specialty beers on tap. Everything we tried was really good. My favorite was the saison and my husband’s favorite was their rye ale. The servers were all very knowledgeable, helpful, and welcoming. Great atmosphere with cool local art on display, perfect for locals and tourists alike! They also had a lot of Mexican craft imports(and by craft I DONOT mean Corona or Modelo). They also do small batch specialty beers which were awesome. We’ll definitely be going back when we’re in town!

Dropped in after trying out Salud! for the first time. I must say after living in San Diego for FOURTEENYEARS, this was my first time in Barrio Logan. There was a live reggae band playing, it was Saturday so the place was pretty full. My boyfriend and I opted to stand at the bar by then entrance. We decided to try a sample size of every beer they had(6 total) The Blood Saison was BYFAR our favorite. Not too sweet, still a very flavorful Saison, the hibiscus was not overpowering. Reason for minus one star… Their IPA did not taste like an IPA at all. He explained it has a hoppy IPA approach and a smooth taste, but it did not have an IPA nose OR taste. Very bland. We loved the atmosphere, cool little spot.

I love this place. I love the neighborhood and how everything good is kept local and low key. Their brews are very fantastic. Since I have the hardest time choosing just one, I get their flight, which I believe is $ 6.50 or something ridiculously affordable like that. You get to try every single one of their choices, pick the one you like the most that day and if you are not feeling buzzed yet, you could get a pint of your favorite, or another flight! I’m excited for y’all. Their music is fantastic! I was there singing almost every song. Reminds me so much of home. Café Tacuba, Gran Silencio… if they ring a bell, this place is where you go to listen to that, drink amazing beer while looking at Chavo del 8 art. Very friendly people behind the bar, and just one of the most relaxed atmospheres ever. Also, Salud! tacos is right across the street. I mean! The perfect night right there.

I’m in love with Border X. The beer was delicious and reasonably priced. I think this place would be good for a group or a date. We sat in the back near all of the art pieces and they make for good conversation starters. The staff was helpful and told us about the different types of beer. There was a taco set up in the front and it seems as though sometimes they have a food truck on the back patio. I’m starting to love all of the places in this area. I will definitely be back soon.

When I heard we were heading to the Barrio, the first thing I thought of was snacks — because ROADTRIP. Somehow, in this purty little brain of mine, I thought it was going to take foreeeeevvverrrrr to get there. I was wrong. It was literally 3 minutes from downtown. It was downtown. Gotta get my head maps checked. Where the edge of the ‘hood meets the Coronado bridge — Border X. Cool space, lots of windows and Mexi inspired art and brews all around. They popped the horchata keg and had me hooked. Cajeta stout? Yes, I’ll take some of that too. And a marisco’s truck out back? Now you’re speaking my language. Tacos and beers galore, glad to see this little gem classin’ up the neighborhood.
